HEAD COACH JOHN FOX
On CB Chris Harris’ interception being a turning point in the game
“It was a huge play. They’re down knocking on the door and they threw an old diagonal route outside to 81, Anquan Boldin, and Chris did a good job kind of hanging back there and then stepped in front and it was right in front of our bench so he had a lot of direction on the way down that sideline.”
On the momentum swing of Harris’ play
“Yeah, this game is about momentum and making plays and those are the kind of plays that change games. We knew that turnovers were going to be important in this game. We ended up +2. It’s something that Baltimore’s done a tremendous job of taking the ball away and not giving it up. They’re +12 on the season. We were -2 going into this game so we knew that was going to be a real big factor in the game.”
On winning in Baltimore
“I think it was great for right at the top – Pat Bowlen who’s on the team 29 years. He’s averaged 10 wins a season over that 29-year period. It’s the first time he’s won in this building so I was proud to see that for him.”
QUARTERBACK PEYTON MANNING
On how much better they’re getting each week
“Well, that’s our goal to try to get better every week. I feel like we probably do in some areas I think you’re still looking to play at perfect 60-minute game. That’s the goal every week. We did some good things today. I know there are some things we can do better. It’s our first game we have not turned the ball over. I thought that was pretty significant. We’d love to keep that going. We felt fortunate to be winning a lot of these games with some of the turnovers we’ve had. We’d love to get into that plus in the turnover margin. That was a step in the right direction. We weren’t down in the red zone a ton today, but when we were down there we got some touchdowns and that was important.”
On his touchdown pass to Decker
“Eric really played well today. We were hitting some outs and some intermediate routes and we thought it was time to maybe send something down the field. They have good cover guys inside and anytime you’re playing against good cover guys, you have to give them a mix. You have to give them the short, the intermediate and the deep stuff. It was a double move by Eric, a good route – and good protection. I really thought it was set up by the run game. We were running the ball well. It was off a run play, we’d been running, had a good fake and I don’t know if it necessarily froze a safety or anybody, but it just gives you that good mix of run and the play-action when you’re running the ball well.”
On keeping focus on the last two regular-season games
“Well, it’s pretty easy. We have Cleveland next week. I don’t know if they won today, but they have a good defense. We’re playing at home – it’s just really been a one week at a time season. Especially for me being in a new environment, every game I can play with my new teammates is better for me. I still think we have things our entire team can improve on. You can learn something in each situation. That may be kind of the chatter and the talk on the outside, but inside, this is a good place to come in and get a road win in Baltimore. We have Cleveland next week. It’s a home game and it’d be nice to keep our home winning streak alive.”
LINEBACKER VON MILLER
On the win
“It says we’re working. We’ve taken steps to be the team that we know we can become. We edged out a really good Baltimore Ravens team today. We might see them again in the playoffs, so we’re just going to keep on working. That’s been our motto all year – keep taking it one day at a time. We’re going to celebrate this win tonight and we’re going to get back in the lab tomorrow and work toward the next team.”
On playing next two games at home
“It’s great. We’ve got a good Cleveland Browns team – their record doesn’t say anything about the caliber of team. They’re a good Cleveland Browns team and we’re going to have to have another good week of preparation. If we can do that, I think we’ll be all right.”
On the Chris Harris pick-six
“It was great. Whenever you can score on defense, you create the odds of your team winning drastically. It was a huge momentum swing. One of the most important stats in football, and it was great for our football team.”
CORNERBACK CHRIS HARRIS
On the Ravens
“They’re a playoff-quality team. You never know, we could play them again.”
On whether he thought Ravens QB Joe Flacco was going to catch him on the pick-six
“No, I didn’t. I knew once I caught that one I wasn’t going to be caught by anyone.”
On the Ravens offense versus what he saw on film
“Really they came out and ran a lot of the same things. We knew that if we got off the field on third down, it takes Ray Rice out of the game. That’s something that we wanted to do – come out here, stop them on third down. That eliminates giving hand offs to Ray Rice.”
On whether there was more hurry-up from the Ravens today
“We knew that they were going to come out here and do hurry-up because the Raiders kind of got into the hurry-up last week and had a little success. The Patriots had a little success with it. So we figured they were going to come out here and do it and we prepared for it. That’s why we played good against them.”
WIDE RECEIVER DEMARYIUS THOMAS
On winning in Baltimore
“It’s big. It’s big for the team, big for the organization. Just to see where we’re at and how well we’re playing, it’s something that we can build off and just keep going.”
On Knowshon Moreno
“I’ve been watching Knowshon since college. I played against him. I know what the man can do. It’s crazy what he’s done since he’s been back. I’m happy for him, and I just hope he keeps doing it.”
On if this was a complete game
“I think so. All three phases were great. We left some plays out there, could’ve done some things different, but I think it was as close as it gets, especially against a tough team like the Baltimore Ravens.”
DEFENSIVE TACKLE JUSTIN BANNAN
On his forced fumble on a QB sneak
“I had a feeling he was going to sneak it, I slipped the center and got ahold of Flacco. We stopped them on that third and short and I felt like we kind of took off from there.”
On Chris Harris’ pick-six
“That was huge. Obviously the momentum was starting to shift in their direction, they were going down and trying to score. That was just a huge play. I think that turned the game around.”
On winning in Baltimore
“I will say to be able to come here and get a win like this against the Baltimore Ravens just doesn’t happen. I’m very proud of our team, the resilience we showed and the week of preparation we put in and how we worked this last week. To come in here and get this win, it’s big.”
CORNERBACK CHAMP BAILEY
On going through a lot of defensive coordinators in Denver and what difference Defensive Coordinator Jack Del Rio makes
“I’ve seen so many. I think the biggest difference is his experience. He was a player, head coach and now he comes in here and runs the defense. I just don’t know how long he’s going to be around. It’s one of those things, you take it as it comes. Jack’s a great coach. He puts us in great position to make plays but we’ve got a good group of guys that want to win.”
On having confidence in Del Rio
“Oh yeah. His confidence rubs off on us.”
On CB Chris Harris saying he was surprised QB Joe Flacco threw to the outside
“I was too. I saw him look over there and I was right behind Chris so I was hoping he threw it to my guy. Either way, it was not a bad throw, whether he threw it to the outside guy or the inside guy. I know that’s one he’d like to have back.”
On how glad he is to not have to hear that the Broncos haven’t won in Baltimore anymore
“It is what it is. I’m glad we won up here. I didn’t put too much emphasis on ‘we’ve never won here.’ So what? We’ve got a quarterback that’s beat them several times and a lot of guys that are here weren’t here. It’s a new team and we’re going in a new direction.”
