Broncos at Raiders: Second Half Live Blog

September 27th, 2009 - 3:43pm by Gray Caldwell

15:00: Eddie Royal takes a knee in the end zone after fielding the opening kickoff to start the second half.

14:25 A five-yard gain on a run by Knowshon Moreno followed by a 10-yard gain on a pass from Kyle Orton to Daniel Graham sets up the Broncos with a first down at their own 35-yard line.

13:00: Moreno picks up nine yards on his first-down carry, and then Correll Buckhalter keeps the chains moving by making some people miss and bursting forward for a 23-yard gain on second down.

12:26: Russ Hochstein is in at left guard in place of starter Ben Hamilton. There’s not an official word on Hamilton’s status, but Hochstein is in.

11:50: Richard Seymour is hit with a 15-yard personal foul penalty after some extra-curricular activity with Ryan Clady after the play, including pulling his hair long after the whistle had blown. That sets up the Broncos with a first down at the Oakland 14-yard line.

10:57: Moreno picks up seven yards on first down, then finds some room on second down and picks up the final seven, heading into the end zone for his first career touchdown in the NFL. The Matt Prater extra point is good, and the Broncos extend their lead over the Raiders to 20-3.

Broncos 20, Raiders 3

INJURY UPDATES: Ben Hamilton has a hamstring injury and his return is probable. Peyton Hillis has a head injury and his return is questionable.

10:52: Jack Williams makes a crucial special teams tackle to bring down the Oakland returner at the 30-yard line after he found some space on the kickoff return.

10:51: Brian Dawkins lays a big hit on Darren McFadden, but not before McFadden picks up a Raiders first down at the 40-yard line. On the ensuing play, McFadden is brought down by D.J. Williams after a gain of four yards. On 2nd-and-6, Andra Davis leads the defense charge to take down Justin Fargas behind the line of scrimmage for no gain. On third down, JaMarcus Russell drops back and finds Zach Miller at the first-down marker. The referees are asking for a measurement, as the spot is a close call.

8:29: After the measurement, the Raiders are just short of a first down, and look to be electing to go for it on 4th-and-inches. It’s a quarterback keeper for Russell, who looks to pick up the first down. There’s a flag on the play, however — offsides on the Broncos, so the Raiders have a first down regardless.

7:28: After an incomplete pass and a run for no gain, Russell is sacked on third down by a host of Broncos defenders. Among them is the sack artist himself, Elvis Dumervil.

6:43: Dumervil is credited for the sack by himself, as he reached Russell and tied him up before his teammates joined the scrum. Shane Lechler is out to punt, and a Raider bounce and solid coverage sets the Broncos up at their own six-yard line.

6:42: A penalty on Eddie Royal — he blocked the kicking team after signaling for a fair catch — means the Broncos are set up at the six yard line. Apparently the penalty is being declined, however, as the original dead ball spot was more favorable for the Raiders. Regardless, the Broncos take over at their own 6-yard line.

5:59: Correll Buckhalter picks up five yards on first down to give the Broncos a little room, but fumbles the ball on second down, and it’s recovered by the Raiders. Oakland takes over at the Denver 16-yard line.

5:06: McFadden picks up five yards on first down, then looks to have a group of blockers and space to find the end zone on second down — but he’s hit hard by D.J. Williams and fumbles the ball. Brian Dawkins recovers the fumble and the Broncos will take back over at their own 11-yard line.

5:05: Oakland is challenging the ruling on the field that Dawkins wasn’t out of bounds before he recovered the fumble. The ruling on the field stands as called — Dawkins got both feet back in bounds and re-established himself before he touched the ball and recovered the fumble. Oakland is charged its first timeout, and the Broncos offense is on the field.

4:57: Moreno takes the handoff on first down from the 6-yard line, where the drive began (not the 11, my apologies). He picks up seven yards, then picks up six more on second down to pick up another first down at the 19-yard line.

3:53: Buckhalter is back in the game, and Orton fakes a handoff to the running back before dropping back and firing a pass toward Brandon Marshall — but the pass is short and falls incomplete. On second down, Buckhalter is stopped for a loss of a yard by Kirk Morrison and Trevor Scott. On third down, Orton drops back and fires a pass toward Jabar Gaffney, but it falls incomplete. Gaffney motions for a flag to be thrown, and it is. Chris Johnson is flagged for pass interference, and Denver has a first down at its own 30-yard line.

3:04: After an incompletion on first down, Orton hands off to Moreno, who looks to be near the first-down marker. It’s officially a gain of 10 yards, but not quite a first down. Third-and-inches for the Broncos at the 40-yard line.

1:45: Moreno picks up the first down on a four-yard run. On the ensuing play, Orton rolls out to his right and throws the ball away to avoid a sack. On second down, it’s Buckhalter who takes the carry and picks up three yards. The Broncos face a 3rd-and-7 from their own 45-yard line, and Orton lines up in the shotgun. He fires a pass to Marshall, who hauls it in at the Oakland 32-yard line — a 23-yard gain.

0:00: Moreno spins past some tacklers for a five-yard gain, which brings the third quarter to a close. For anyone keeping track, through three quarters, Brett Kern has not seen the field other than holding for Prater. The Broncos have not punted all game. At the end of the third, the Broncos’ lead is 20-3, and Denver has a 2nd-and-5 at the Oakland 27.

START OF FOURTH QUARTER: Moreno tries to find the sideline, but he’s brought down by Nnamdi Asomugha for no gain on second down. There’s a flag on the play — holding on Daniel Graham.

Q4 14:56: It’s now 2nd-and-15 at the Oakland 37-yard line for the Broncos. Orton drops back and finds Graham for a bubble screen, and he follows a posse of blockers for a 24-yard gain and a first down at the 13-yard line.

Q4 13:50: Buckhalter takes a toss to the left side and picks up seven yards on first down. On second down, it’s Moreno in the backfield. He takes the pitch from Orton and picks up two yards on the right side of the line. It’s now 3rd-and-1 for the Broncos at the Oakland 4-yard line. Tony Scheffler goes in motion, and Moreno takes the pitch to the left side — he’s stopped for a loss of two by Tyvon Branch, bringing up fourth down.

12:05: Prater is in for a 24-yard attempt, and the field goal is good. The Broncos now lead the Raiders, 23-3. It was an 88-yard scoring drive.

Broncos 23, Raiders 3

Q4 11:57: Prater’s kickoff is downed for another touchback. The Raiders take over at their own 20-yard line.

INJURY UPDATE: Ryan Harris has a shoulder injury and his return is questionable.

Q4 11:53: Russell’s pass on first down is incomplete and the crowd is really getting after the Raiders offense. Bush catches a screen pass from Russell on second down and is brought down by Jack Williams — there’s a flag on the play, however. The call is pass interference on the offense, as Louis Murphy was downfield blocking a little too early. There’s a healthy mix of boos and chanting from the crowd.

Q4 11:18: Darrell Reid brings down Russell for a sack on the ensuing play, but a flag for illegal hands to the face on the Broncos negates the play and gives the Raiders a first down at their own 15-yard line.

Q4 10:54: Fouls by both teams — holding on the Raiders and a personal foul for roughing the passer on the Broncos — essentially means a re-do on first down, though the ball is at the Raider 11-yard line. On the ensuing play, Bush is stopped after a yard by Woodyard and Reid, and the Oakland crowd continues to boo.

Q4 10:09: Bush picks up two more yards before being slowed by Vonnie Holliday and taken down by Robert Ayers. On third down, Dumervil bursts through the line for another sack. It’s a loss of 10 for the Raiders, and Shane Lechler is in to punt from the back of his own end zone. Royal is back to return at about his own 45-yard line — but Lechler’s punt is short and rolls out of bounds at the Oakland 49-yard line.

Q4 9:11: The Broncos offense is back on the field, and on first down Orton hands off to Moreno. The rookie fights his way forward for a yard. On 2nd-and-9, Orton drops back and fires downfield over the head of Royal for an incompletion, setting up third down. On the next play, Orton takes the snap in the shotgun and tries to find Gaffney at the first down marker, but the pass falls incomplete.

Q4 8:22: Kern makes his first appearance of the game midway through the fourth quarter. His punt bounces at about the two-yard line, but goes into the end zone for a touchback. It will be 1st-and-10 for the Raiders at the 20-yard line.

Q4 8:13: Buckhalter has passed the century mark for the fifth time in his career — he sits at 102 yards rushing at the moment. Moreno is right behind him with 90 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Q4 8:09: Louis Murphy’s dropped pass on first down brings more boos from the crowd that’s left in Oakland. On second down, Russell takes the snap in the shotgun. He fires over the head of his intended receiver out of bounds. There’s a flag on the play, however — holding on the Raiders. That penalty is declined, so it’s 3rd-and-10 for the Raiders at their own 20-yard line. Russell is in the shotgun again, and he buys a little time in the pocket but fires incomplete to the right sideline. Lechler is back in to punt, and Royal is again back to receive.

Q4 7:44: Lechler’s punt flies 54 yards, but Royal finds some room and follows his blockers to take the ball back to the Denver 44-yard line — a 17-yard return.

Q4 7:43: Buckhalter takes the first-down carry and pushes the pile forward for a five-yard gain. On second down, Buckhalter is dropped by Seymour after a gain of one. As the clock continues to run, Moreno takes the carry for no gain. Looks like Tyler Polumbus is in on the offensive line at right tackle in Harris’ stead.

5:35: Kern makes his second punt of the game, and it bounces straight in the air at the 19-yard line. Johnnie Lee Higgins snags it off the bounce and returns it for nine yards. The Raiders have a first down at their own 24-yard line.

Q4 5:28: Russell keeps the ball after no one came open downfield, and picks up 15 yards on a run. After a false start penalty on the ensuing play, Russell tries to take off again, but is brought down by Dumervil after a gain of six. After a gain of eight on second down by Justin Fargas, Woodyard’s pressure in the backfield causes Russell to quickly throw a pass to Fargas, who is tackled immediately by D.J. Williams, bringing up fourth down. Oakland goes for it on fourth, but the Broncos take over on downs after D.J. Williams once again takes down Fargas for no gain on a quick pass from Russell.

Q4 2:35: After a run by LaMont Jordan picks up two yards and keeps the clock running on first down, Jordan takes another carry for a gain of five on second down. That takes us to the two-minute warning.

TWO MINUTE WARNING: The Broncos have a 3rd-and-3 on the other side of the break, and lead the Raiders 23-3.

2:00: Jordan takes the carry on third down up the middle — but is stopped for no gain. Oakland calls its second timeout of the half to stop the clock.

1:52: Correction, Jordan’s carry went for two yards, setting up 4th-and-1. The Broncos elect to go for it on fourth down, and Orton drops back and fires to Marshall, who brings it in past Asomugha for a 17-yard gain, picking up a first down and keeping the clock running.

0:30: Orton takes a knee to bring the game to a close. The final score of the game is Denver 23, Oakland 3. The Broncos are now 3-0.

what I see from our team is a well balenced team. What i like is no headline player on this team. So this creates problems for other teams to figure us out. We got WR, RB, TE, O-line and of as right now the Number 1 D. I could not be happier with this start.

  2. broncosfreak30 says:

    GOD, I LOVE MY TEAM!!!!!!

  3. broncoxican says:

The team looks good so far, we just need to see this offence loosing in the fourth quarter

  4. McDan Dare says:

Congratulations to Josh McDaniels and his team – they are getting the fundamentals right, playing great defence and the percentages and have deserved their 3 wins and 100% record. There is nothing to fear but fear itself, and I don’t see this team or the fans running scared.

Take each game as it comes and this time next week I want to see the Broncos at 4-0

  5. TheRoyalBeast says:

It was funny I was just watching highlights from the game on NFL.com and I saw the Graham screen, right before he is brought down, Marshall plastas a LB with little effort for those who said he doesnt block lol. He had alot of mismatches agaisnt LBs that led to a productive day for him and that catch over Asomugha proved he could still hang wit the big boys. Still wanna see more Royal tho. opposite of last year, this year he is the double teamed one and Marshall is the free one.

This is far from the flashiest team but they get that W and thats all that counts. Dallas is considered a “real team so I can’t wait to see us agaisnt them. Maybe if (trying not to sound cocky) we beat them we will get a lil bit more respect. Offense does better every week and thats all we can ask for.

  6. MANNY01 says:

TODAY I WAS SURROUNDED BY RAIDERS, WHILE I WAS WATCHING THE GAME AND AT THE END OF THE GAME, I DID THE MILE HIGH SOLUTE AND IT FELT GREAT. 3 AND A ROW AND GETTING BETTER, NEXT VICTIM THE COWGIRLS, SO FAR SO GOOD BRONCOS!!!

    60 MINUTES FOOTBALL GO BRONCOS!!!

  7. florio's_mom says:

Some how this doesn’t even feel surprising. We put so much work into this, I kinda woulda been upset if we didn’t come out like this.

  8. kase78matt says:

GFunk i agree 110% we hav guys that step up like u see with doom and buck but no individual is makin that Superstar spot. what we have instead is a great overall D and a Offense that will score with all its weapons not just 1. Its a good day to be bronco fan but lets play dallas, pit, sd, and the patriots and see how we line up against the playoff worthy teams.

  9. TheRoyalBeast says:

    well said kase78

by the way, the game pics on the homepage, are they ever put somewhere else in a larger size? I like that pic from last week with Moreno and Bucky jumping in the air at each other.

PS: Orton said we have a stable of RBs. Found that funny cuz we are broncos…dunno if he meant to use that play on words but I caught it.

  10. Marshallman-15 says:

That was like the lowest scoring game we’ve played with the Raiders in ten years… ha!
anyway, what should we be worrying about with dallas?

  11. florio's_mom says:

What is our turnover ratio? I looked at nfl.com and it said +4. Tha can’t be right.

    Cincy = 2 picks
    Cleveland = 1 pick + 1 fumble
    Oakland = 2 picks + 1 fumble

    = 7

    Minus one fumble

    =6

    Correct?

  12. OGBronco4life says:

    Weapon X

whats up Bronco fam. That hit that BDawk puy on McFad slowed his row, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

One week at a time, One game at time, and 60 minutes of football is what this team is all about.

Get your Kool-Aid ready for them C-boys

    Broncos Rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. kase78matt says:

dallas is good its not december yet lol. no they may not be the best on our schedule but there a step up from the clowns we played the last 3 weeks. like i want to say we need a better QB but orton hasnt turned it over at all and really hes not doin bad in general. but im sure u all see what im sayin with a pro bowl qb we could quite honestly have the perfect team. eddie bmarsh stoke scheff lloyd gaffney ghram hillis i mean honestly tell me who in there couldnt start on n e other team we have a ton of underpaid talent lol.

  14. mikew007 says:

I can think of two fumbles….so there must be a third.

  15. florio's_mom says:

I remember Dawkins recovering two fumbles.

  16. florio's_mom says:

    Wes has a pick
    Tony has a pick (lol)
    Hill has a pick
    Goodman has a pick
    McBath has a pick

  17. florio's_mom says:

I forgot Hillis fumbled. It was like the first play of the game so i spaced it. haha

  18. florio's_mom says:

Wait. that would only put us at five. How did we lose the ball the third time?

  19. TheRoyalBeast says:

I was gonna mention hillis as well but hillis would only make it 5….not unless turnover on downs count then we would have to count goal line stand this week at oakland where we didnt make it. Thats my only explanation.

  20. BradJamesBroncoFan says:

For all intents and purposes, I’m proud of the Broncos as they continue to excel and defy the a-hole skeptics who just pick against us now out of spite (yes, John Clayton, I’m talking about you). Anyway, next week, we’ll smack the Cowgirls around a little bit. This Broncos team is too good for the scummy, sucky AFC West. Let the Sparkler fans talk junk about us, but the truth of the matter is, they’re scared to death of us. We’ll continue to “shock the world.,” but to us this is all to be expected. GO BRONCOS!!!

  21. bronco-blaze says:

Im impressed with the way we played on offense and defense. However i would like to see our red zone efficency improve dramastically…We got all these loooong great drives, just to end in fgs. If we coul have made those tds it would have been a worse shut out.

  22. florio's_mom says:

Jamie D-bag will kiss McD butt by the end of the year.

  23. dbroncos6 says:

GOTTA LOVE THE BRONCOS!! ELVIS DUMERVIL= DEFENSE MVP. next week were beating the cowboys at home!!!! GO BRONCOS!!!!!!

  24. mikew007 says:

All you McD haters….time to get back on board!

  25. whitebronco#1 says:

I’m very pleased to say that I was wrong. I expected a closer game, but this made my week.

Can’t wait for Dallas… and they’re in a short week.

    Go Broncooos!

  26. gary bronc says:

I’m not surprised we’re 3-0 because if u were to show me the first 3 opponents of the season at anytime during the offseason I would’ve said that those are teams we should beat. Now lets get on to the Cowboys and show everybody what we really about.

I love the way we’re playing and although Orton and the Offense needs to improve in the redzone I honestly cant say a bad word about the guy because he hasn’t turned it over ONCE, could u ever say that about Cutler?. Anyway we play dem boys at home and it should be a firm test to our teams ability. But one thing that we must do is capitlize on turnovers cuz last week Romo threw 3 picks and the Giants only got Field Goals out of it. I know we can get pressure I know we can stop the run so I know we can win. I’m so proud of my team, honestly. GO BRONC’S!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. Ingenious move to pick up the Broncos DST this week lol i got 25 points out of it

  27. bronco-blaze says:

All i can say is im worried about the COLTS and Pats…Every one else i believe we can stop with our D.

  28. broncos20 says:

WHOOOHOOO!!!…that black hole turned into the blackvoid…no sound at all except boos on their owen team…aha.

we now have lowest points allowed in the season.

  29. broncofan96 says:

I thought aganist Clev we had 1 pick and two fumble recoveries in that game.

  30. Cali_BroncosFan says:

Very proud to be a Bronco fan. I cant wait for next week againts Dallas. It should be a good one. I cant wait to see what McD game plan is. Dallas is very dangerous in all three phasses. On D they got Ware, Newman. On O we got to watch out for Witten but also cover Roy wich will be tough. We were able to stop McFadden we better watch out for Jones running the ball and stop him on KO returns. Overall I cant wait to for this game

  31. broncobabe09 says:

I love our team! What a great job by everyone! DOOOOOM! You are on you way to be MVP Pro Bowler! Go Baby! Can’t wait til next week! Love the BRONCOS! Thank You! :)

  32. raidrhadr says:

We are +6 in the turnover ratio according to NFL.com stats. So…florio’s_mom you had the tally correct. They probably had not updated the stats when you checked earlier.

Awesome win today. I am so happy to see the improvements on both sides of the ball…and we kicked the raiders’ ass in thier house woo hoo!!! We almost had two 100 yd rushers today. Cant wait to play the cowboys. I’ll be in the south stands as usual and I better hear a DOOOOOOM! chant start up in that place. We really need to be loud so those of you that are going….let’s bring the heat….old school mile high style.

GO BRONCOS!!!! South Stands Forever!!! The Orange Crush Lives!!

  33. florio's_mom says:

    Pfffffffft!!!

    And they call themselves professionals!

  34. rkymtnhigh says:

Well done in all phases of the game. If we have one hic-up, it is still our red zone O. It was great to see marshall get more involved.
I love where we’re headed so far.

One game at a time! great job!!!

turn it up and bring the noise for the cowgirls!!!!!

    out

  35. Peytonoverthehillis22 says:

Man what an exciting day. I love me some Broncos. They are showing up in everyway on O, on D, and on ST. Keep it up boys and this year could turn into something special. I can’t wait til’ next Sunday so we can further show the world that the Orange and Blue are a force to be reckoned with. And not only that but one of my good buddies is a Cowgirl fan so I’m looking forward to duking it out with him next week. It should be geat.

    GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!

  36. dbroncos6 says:

WERE BEATING THE COWBOYS NEXT WEEK. DOOOOOOM IS HAVIN AN AWESOME SEASON. I EXPECT ATLEAST 2 MORE SACKS NEXT WEEK AGAINST ROMO. GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!

  37. broncos20 says:

we won the 3 games that we needed to win..I’m very proud of the team..glad this phase is over.. on to the next game. one game at a time!

question, will the Cowboys be the first true 3-4 team the Broncos face this year? still, that’d be a great match-up.
newman, we faced greater challenge in Asomugha and came out on top.
no doubt McD will try to exploit that middle field again with a slow LB and DB corp.
no doubt Ware will bring a challenge to the O-line. But i’m confident Clady and crew will keep taps on him.
they have an explosive offense, but those are the same things they said about the Bengals, with their huge O-line men..

Broncos continue to defy critics, 3-0 baby!!!!

  38. Evo_Tom says:

Ok so today our D looked amazing. come on i mean u gotta love it when our D gives up less then 200yards total. cant ask for better then that. the one thing we still need to work on is our O still needs to put up more then just feild goals that will only be enough points sometimes. this is were orton needs to step up and get the ball down the feild. our running game is workin and so is our D we just need the passing game to step it up to the same lvl and we will be insane. Glad to see that Brandon has his head back on and is ready to put up some points plan and simple our offense is better with him on the feild. just keep movin the ball and winning games.

p.s. and not to disapoint i still dont like orton. and i still dont think he can throw but atleast he isnt causin turn overs. it is atleast a start lol.

    GO DENVER!!!!!

  39. trigger73 says:

    3-0!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  40. Broncos_Ed says:

the hillis turnover was special teams it dosnt count aginst the offense… We were +4 now we are +6… wooohooo go BRONCO D. Orton is running this O great IMO. Orton has better #s then cutler too so go Kyle, go BDawk, go Josh… congrats men!!!

  41. Broncofaninkc1 says:

We are 3-0 because of our Defense. Our offense is average at best. It is kind of boring to watch. Josh’s play calling is pretty poor. I miss last year’s explosive Offense. That with this years D would make us dominate. Don’t give Josh too much credit. Only good decisions were couple pick ups and HIRING M NOLAN.

  42. TXBRONCOFANATIC says:

I like how Orton threw the ball away a couple times when there was nobody open. Smart football!

D-fense was amazing, add 2 sacks to Doom’s stats. B-Dawk is like the foundation of our defense because he’s like having a coach playing out there on the field, such a great leader.

I liked what Rich Gannon the announcer said about McD and what he took away from Belichek, which was that every Wednesday of the week there’s a team meeting and McD points out to the players exactly what they need to do to win in all three phases of the game. What a smart thing to do! We are a different football team each week depending on our opponent. Of course, our faith in the team always remains.

Thank you Mr. B for hiring this man as our coach!

  43. monodono says:

I for one don’t miss last years offense at all! This year The Broncos are dominating the opposing defenses
And controlling not only the ball but The Game, couple that with fantastic Defense and the special teams has also done a Great job which makes this Broncos TEAM a true contender. I couldn’t be more happy with the way things have worked out from the start with letting go of Shanahan all the way to were They as a TEAM stand now.

This wasn’t an easy ride for Coach McDaniels and The rest of the TEAM
It may be boring to you but This is real football. It’s all about control and Dominance.

    TIME OF POSSESSION ! ! !

    GO BRONCOS ! ! !

  44. raidrhadr says:

Broncofaninkc1 I partially agree with you in the fact that our Defense is largely reposible for winning us games. I disagree with you that we have an average Offense and here’s why. First of all, any team that rushes for over 200 yards in a game has performed above average. Statistically we are above average in yards per play, time of possession, turnovers and yards per game. Best of all, even though I’m sure we all miss those 65 yd bombs but….we are ranked in the top 10 (#9) in total offense. Is that average? You just want THE BIG PLAY. I didn’t agree with Shanny’s play calling all the time either. Give Josh a break. I think he’s doing a great job so far.

Here’s something for all you McD bashers out there to consider. Is it possible that….while the patriots are still a very good football team….they have NOT looked completely crisp….even bad at times…like I said they are still very good…Is it possible that they miss Josh McDaniels a little bit? Here are some other things that not many of us expected:

    We’re 3-0
    We are +6 in turnovers
We lead the league in sacks (10 shared with 2 other teams)
We have a QB that has not turned the ball over (Only 3 QBs can say that)
Have an offense and defense both ranked in the top 10.
Have an excellent rushing attack….and best of all
the #1 Defense in the league!!!!! Woo Hoo!!!!

We are allowing 5.3 points per game…16 total so far…..the next best are the jets who have allowed 33 total.

I have been ending my posts with The Orange Crush Lives since training camp started…..do we believe?….hell yes we do! Get ready to start the DOOOOM! chant in Mile High!!! Bring on them cowgirls!!!

GO BRONCOS!!!! South Stands Forever!!! The Orange Crush Lives!!

  45. rayjr26 says:

Broncofaninkc1….wow…. you must be joking! last year we did NOT have an explosive offense! we had a quarterback that was forced to throw the ball 40 or 50 times a game because we had no running attack, and our defense couldnt stop the local jr high C team! i will take 200 plus yards on the ground and only 20 passes any day! the thing i believe you are missing is that the broncos have not been behind except for about 14 seconds this season, so as long as the running game is pickin up 1st downs there is no need for orton to try and sling the ball all over the place! if the broncos get seriously behind this season then you will get the pass happy offense you are missing… just my opinion tho, not an attack, just an observation!
    GO BRONCOS
PS… We are all witnessing the dawning of a new era……. THE BLUE CRUSH ERA!

Wow, 3-0, and as of this writing, Orton has a better passer rating than Cutler! I always liked Kyle and never felt that he got a fair shake here in Chi-town. (Shaky pass protection and unreliable receiving can really hurt your chances of making the Pro Bowl as a QB, never mind winning.) I hope you guys go 16-0! Well, 14-2. ;) The only time I would be rooting against you this year is if we should happen to meet in the post-season, and what a story THAT would be eh?

    Rock on, Broncos.

  47. South Stands says:

The Broncos have looked great so far. Now it is time for true Bronco fans to step up. I challenge all fans (especially South Standers) to make Invesco Field the most difficult environment for visiting teams to play in the entire league. Bring back the Mile High Magic. We can do it!

That is a below average offense. 9th eary in the season compared to 2nd at the end last year. Brady i winning after sitting out a year in far more difficult games than we have played without Wes Welker. The defense has been fantastic, and by all means I think Mike Nolan should be the Coach of the Year so far. No one has done more to resurrect a team than Nolan. That being said, we still have no pass rush. Yes we get a lot of sacks, but most of those have been late game when the other team is forced into obvious passing downs and because the secondary is playing superb. As the schedule becomes tougher, and we begin to play better teams, I think we will see the true composure of this team. I know people are saying that we are defying the odds, but most “pundits” would agree that on talent alone we were favorites against the three teams we have beaten. taking nothing from the team because you have t obeat who the schedule makers put in front of you. I have reserved judgment on this team until after the bye week at least. i think the biggest reason people are disliking Orton is because he cannot make a play. Game on the line and forced to pass, no one feels secure with Orton at the helm. or at least I don’t until he shows he can. Anyway, there are 13 games left, time to sink or swim.

Dont forget we did play 2 of the worse teams in football the last 2 weeks. our offense, especially the running game, looked good because of our defense and their turnovers. U are crazy if you think our offense is good enough to beat the good playoff teams. I hope the next several weeks will prove me wrong.
