15:00: The start of the fourth was delayed with an injury to Rodney Harrison. He was just carted off the field.
The Broncos face a third-and-two at the New England 18.
Pittman carries around the right end for the first down.
14:30: Cutler fires to Royal, who misses one defender but is taken down by the second. It’s a gain of four.
14:00: Pittman gets the carry up the middle, and he is taken down for a loss of one. That brings up third-and-seven at the New England 10.
13:30: Cutler fires across the middle to Daniel Graham, who spins away from the defender and gets into the endzone for Denver’s first score. 34-7, Patriots.
13:21: Matthew Slater is back deep for the ensuing kickoff. Slater takes it at the five and makes it out to the 34.
13:16: Cassel hands off to Green-Ellis, and he picks up three yards on the run.
11:00: Sorry for the delay — had a bit of technical difficulty here with the internet.
The Patriots have a second-and-seven at the Denver 36.
10:30: Now the Pats face a third-and-four after short run by Heath Evans. Cassel dumps the ball off to Faulk in the flat, and he’s taken down for a loss of five by D.J. Williams.
Chris Hanson (and no, not the one from To Catch a Predator on NBC — his is spelled Hansen) comes out to punt.
8:37: After Royal’s fair catch, the Broncos have a first-and-10 at their own 15.
Cutler finds Marshall in the middle, and he stiff-arms his way out to the 28 for a first down.
8:01: After an incomplete pass intended for Marshall, it’s second-and-10 at the 28.
Another incomplete pass for Marshall, and it’s third-and-10.
7:56: Cutler finds Marshall this time for a first down, but there are flags all over the field.
It’s a chop block call on Michael Pittman. That moves the Broncos back half the distance to the goal. Now it’s third-and-19 at the Denver 19.
7:23: Cutler hits Graham, and he has blockers in front of him. He picks up quite a few yards, but a holding penalty on Denver backs them up another 10 yards.
Now it’s third-and-17 on the Denver 21.
7:00: Seymour sacks Cutler on the play, and Kern comes out to punt.
Kern kicks it 45 yards, and Welker returns it eight yards.
6:22: The Patriots take over at their own 48.
Green-Ellis gets the carry, taking it 10 yards for the first down.
4:30: It’s second-and-10 at the Denver 32 after a run for no gain by Green-Ellis.
Cassel is hurried and moves out of the pocket, and his pass falls incomplete.
4:19: Third-and-10 at the Denver 32 — Faulk carries up the middle, rumbling for a first down to the Denver 16.
3:20: Faulk bursts up the middle for another first down, getting down to the Denver 1.
Green-Ellis takes the handoff and gets into the endzone for the touchdown, the first of his career.
41-7, Patriots.
3:09: Hall takes the ensuing kickoff out to the Denver 20.
3:05: Cutler hits Royal near the left sideline, and he jukes past one defender for the first down.
2:30: It’s second-and-eight after a short pass to Royal at the sideline. Pittman gets the carry, running up the middle out of the shotgun for five yards.
2:00: At the two minute warning, the Broncos face a third-and-three from their own 38.
Cutler fires deep down the middle for Royal, but it’s broken up by Meriweather.
1:50: Kern’s punt goes 62 yards for the touchback, and out comes the Patriot offense at their own 20.
1:45: Cassel takes a knee, and the clock continues to run. And that is how this game will end.
The Patriots defeat the Broncos, 41-7.

TOUCHDOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FINALLY, we’re not gonna get shutout. I’ll take that and run.
GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!… keep it coming
And if Cutler is going to compare any part of his game to Elway… he should start working on becoming a 4th quarter comeback QB. Now would be a GREAT time to start that.
GO BRONCOS!!!!
I can’t believe the broncos are playing like this. This looks like a damn powder puff team. When will they realize that Bly is garbage? I can’t stand watching the talent we have play like they do.
why wont they go deep?
an absolute nobody is running all over us
This is pathetic. In 30 years of watching this team I have never seen such a pathetic defensive showing. We have got to rededicate the money, braintrust and talent to our defense. This is an embarrassment!
wow……….. 41 to 7!!!!!!!! who are the broncos? did they even get off the buss today? hell madden and michaels could tackle better than the chumps we have. every team for the rest of the season should be stoked to play us.
slowik must go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wholeheartedly concur crush53. Denver makes any team, anywhere look good. I was willing to concede the defensive performance against Rivers and Brees, but Cassel and Sammie Morris? You have got to be kidding me! Denver needs to make some serious defensive adjustments during the bye week whether in their schemes or in personnel. Denver is the defensive laughing stock of the NFL right now and it’s an absolute embarrassment.
To call this sorry team pathetic is an insult to the pathetic teams in the league.
This embarrassment of a “team” would have gotten their asses kicked by a bunch of drunken girl scouts.
Every single member of the team should issue a public apology to every single Denver fan and donate their salary for this week (AT LEAST) to charity.
I’m going to go stab my eyes out so I don’t have to watch anymore.
champ doom n dj were the only ones on defense tonite this was the worst game ive ever seen n my life while the offense was just sleepn out there handing the patriots the game
say goodbye to the season im praying for champ that game was not worth the injuries we should of threw in the white towel in the first quarter
What the heck happened to our team? I AM STILL IN SHOCK AFTER THAT AWFUL ?EFENSIVE SHOWING.
Break my heart every week with the terrible defence that they play
Do we even have a defense?????? I am so surprised that they started throwing at Moss once Champ got injured. Maybe they can take this bye week and get one of those videotapes that pee wee teams use nd learn how to TACKLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And somehow we sacked Cassell 6 times???????
after tonight we should be in a good position to make a push for the number one spot…….. in the draft. I agree that we owe it to champ to trade him away so he can actually have a shot at a ring, cause it sure as hell won’t happen with this team. I am a die hard broncos fan but i have to say that i am embarrassed to call my self one after the last 4 games.
Wow - how discouraging! I was looking forward to this game as it is only the second game on TV here in AZ.
Listening on Sirius, I actually thought the defense was getting better until I watched this game. I could say more but I’m sure they’ll get to suffer through the film and see for themselves. When Champ got hurt, you could tell how much he means to the defense.
I hope Jay’s finger is okay and Champ comes back soon.
Oh well… still in first place, (for now).
Looked HORRIBLE!!!! Crucial week coming up in the bye. Either we can come out and win and control control our own destiny, or just play average football and have another losing season.
before we start on the defense,
the offense: turnovers. won’t say anymore.
never seen our defense play this pathetically.
once champ got injured, the NE offense can do anything
(not that they couldn’t before).
Before, we we’re getting ripped up by big names like rivers, brees, bush, etc. Now it’s Cassel and Morris? Aside from champ, we need to be better on defense, everywhere. coaches, players, everything.
It’s amazing how we’re still first in our division, and how the season can still be salvaged. keepin my fingers crossed for a miracle.
hey look at the bright side at least they are consistant,gave up 250 yards rushing, 6 turnovers, and who knows how many penalties i lost count. poor special teams play,this team is in complete disarray from top to bottom and i see no end in sight, might as well mail it in for this season and many more if changes aren’t made. starting at the top.
Who is going to be held accountable for this pathetic performance on national TV !!!! That’s what I want to know !!!!!!!
As I’ve said before! This team is only good for 1 quarter of football. Stupid mental mistakes, ie, fumbles, turnovers, etc… This team Lacks heart, in the past, the teams that were successful were full of heart. This Team is a disgrace to the Broncos name. I am sad to say that I’ve been a Broncos Fan since 1979, and today I’m sad that this is the team I cheer for.
It sucks to see the Broncos beat themselves. The Defense deserves no blame in this. They held the Patriots to six points off of turnovers. The offense on the other hand could not move the ball. If our offense does not score on the opening drive and set the tone, then we are screwed.
This team has noooooooo heeeeaaarrtt….. I for one am sick to my stomach. We are a 500. team as far as I’m concerned. We did not beat San Diego without help from the officials, so we are really 4-4, instead of 4-3. we have lost to Jacksonville, Kansas City & New England. What a F__ing joke. No Tom Brady, and Denver still can’t win. I am just sick of this team.
Stop Believing in your own press. It is not because of injury, not because of anything else, except lack of heart.
Jay Cutler claims to have a stronger arm than Elway? Give me a Break! When have you seen Jay complete a pass when rolling to the right and then throwing the ball across his body for a completion. When have you seen Jay win a 4th quarter comeback game on his arm. Elway did more with less talent than Cutler Ever dreamed of.
This Team SUCKS!!!!!! I am ashamed of this team and will not be surprised if they finish this season 8-8. That’s if they are lucky! I for one am calling this team out and asking each player to search for their heart and start playing and excecuting t their full abilities. No More Excuses. No More Turnovers!
Stop reading your own press clippings and get to work. Stop believing that all you have to do is show up! Grab you sacks, do your job’s and hold each team member accountable for their job’s. You all as a team are pathetic.
Call me negative if you will, however I wish the team could see this, cause this is reality. You didn’t even show up for the game, you panzzies. What a freakin joke you are. Find your spirit, your heart and hopefully we will see a resurection in two weeks.
A message to Mike, stop leaving it only in the hands of Cutler. Where is the run game? Where is the bootleg? Your not fooling anyone! Get rid of Ramsey and find another back-up. Also get some d-lineman in next years draft, GOD I’m so mad at the display put on tonight.
See ya two weeks, hope it’s an improvement. To all you that think I’m being negative, blow it out your A**!!! You can lie to yourself all you want, this team is in trouble and this team likes to beat it’s self.
Broncomania56…. Dude, I know your ticked off but seriously dont put all this blame on the players. I have said for weeks now that our players on defense(besides a couple of them) just flat out suck. Yet our coaches continue to put these guys on the field week after week. Is it not funny how every week we give up 400+ yards and get ran upon at will. How many gaes have to go buy before someone figures this out. Play all of our rookies on defense and at least you will see slight improvement from week to week. I am a huge Bronco fan for 33 years and will continue to be but I am ashamed of where this team has fallen. I seriously think USC can put up 400 yards on us and would bet a months pay. ….Let me guess, “we must get better”
Complete JOKE….West Coast
personally wish they got rid of the 3-4***
THIS IS AN 8-8 OR 7-9 TEAM PEOPLE. WHAT A EMBARRASEMENT TO OUR CITY ON NATIONAL TV. HIRE MIKE NOLAN AS A CONSULTANT.
DO SOMETHING………………….
Broncomania56, I couldn’t agree more. That was beyond pathetic. With the exception of D.J. and Champ and Elvis, the entire defense sucks! The reason we can’t stop anyone is because we have no ferociousness (if you will) like we used to with guys like Al Wilson or even Steve Atwater back in the day. The whole defense just sits and watches the opponent run over them. Also I think we should cut Andre Hall. Why do we have him returning kicks when we drafted Eddie Royal for that purpose.
My analysis of our D
DE - Dumervil = Solid Pass Rusher
Ekuban = Decent Back Up
Engleberger = Average Run Stopper
Moss = Decent Situational Pass Rusher (Dissapointing 1st round pick)
Crowder = ???? Doesn’t Seem To Have an Impact
DT - Robertson = Average Run Stopper
Thomas = Average All-Around
Peterson = Decent Back Up
LB - D.J. = Brick Wall Defender ( the only one )
Webster = Energetic Speed LB
The Rest of the LBs = Suck!
CB - Champ = Superstar!
Bly = Sucks
Paymah = Sucks
Williams = ???
S - They all Suck or mediocre at best!
Cutler is doing a fine job in the situations that he is put in. If someone else on the ofense would step and take some pressure off cutler, we would be better off. But until we get a RB thats worth a damn and doesn’t fumble on their first two carries of the game, our passing attack will continue to be less effective.
As far as the defense goes, we need to have one before we can fix it. We need to trade Bly and Boss off for draft pics and cut Marlon and Manuel because they both blow big who biscuits.
We will still take the division, because SD has problems just like us and we will find a way to get through the rest of the season and the addition of Torain to our crapy back field can only help.
it would be nice if in tomorrows press conference we saw Shanny actually cut all the Fing BS and call out people. But Im sure we’ll get the same old story…..every week the same crap
Gasperdn,
Yeah, the taunting is annoying (like Rivers in the game last year)…but you know what? Our team cant seem to step up and smack anyone in the mouth…so we’re going to have to take being bullied until we get some mean ass guys back on our team. I sure miss Romo and Wilson and Atwater and D Smith.
Stop blaming defense you guys. We never had any all year long. Just the 1st three games, we had an offense. Since then, including tonight, Cutler and the offense just outright suck. Not one long TD in 4 games.
you can blame defense if you want to, put who gave us a chance against Tampa? Who held patriots to just six points off of all the tunrovers tonight. They suck too dont get me wrong, but hey, offense aint doing better.
Seriously WTF? Is it me or does it look like Cutler doesn’t even care anymore. He isn’t the vocal leader on the sidelines that I thought he was. What is with the turnovers? My friend’s kids are in Pop Warner football and they don’t even fumble as much as we have. I know Tony is out but come on utilize Nate he is decent enough to get you some good yards. This was a Patriots team that we should have stomped, not the other way around. One more thing, Cutler needs to shut the F*@% up and just play some damn football. I mean really who cares if you think you have stronger arm than Elway, who cares that you hate Rivers. Look I know every QB that ever comes into Denver will be compared to the great Elway. If you’re going to talk the talk you better be able to walk the walk. Maybe Cutler’s arm is stronger than Elway’s, who knows, it doesn’t mean anything when you throw interceptions and can’t win a game. Sometimes Cutler loooks like Plummer only in a #6 jersey they way he gets careless with the football. Lets go into our Bye and figure some S*#$ out and get it right for the second half of the season. I’ve been a loyal fan for 25 years, I sure would like to see another playoff appearance this year. I sure hope Shanny can get it figured out also.
our offense is went from great to terrible turnovers and penaltys the defense has been awful . last night the game plan should have been to put 8 in the box. make the other team beat you deep so what if we get burned never in my life have i ever seen a middlelinebacker out of position on every play . we still have a chance to win this division. i still believe and i dont understand why. this team shows no pride. go broncos
The morning after a huge a** Kickin and it still hurts just as bad. No more BS, fix it! It’s time this team checks it’s heart and become men. I’m so pissed at what’s become of Bronco football!
Just watched Cutler’s post-game interview. What a freakin Baby! He showed no class, acted like a spoiled child who has no respect for anyone. Rolling his eyes, his demeanor was child like. If this is what the future of the Broncos will be, it’s gonna be a long road ahead. Jay Cutler, a note to you…. If you would just start taking what the defense gives you, stop trying to score every series with one play, take your time driving down the field and score you will be much happier. Instead you try to force your throws. If you wanna blame offensive woes on anyone, look in the mirror! Study yourself on film and watch what you do. Are you a team player? Are you aware that there are other receivers on the field? Are you so blind to see that if you need 3 yards for a 1st down you shouldn’t throw for 30 yards into double coverage? Come on! man take what the defense gives you!. Be a class act during your interviews, yes it hurts to loose, but you are a role model and supposed to be a professional, Act like it. Spread the ball around more please.
Our team and just diminished in these last few weeks. I was excited to watch Lowry play at safety. I thought that he would be a good change and maybe a better safety than Manuel or McCree, I guess not and I was sort of disappointed. He had some horrible angles and missed tackles. I’m not sure what the heck our D is doing but they sure need to show up the rest of the season. Last night I thought we had some success blitzing, we did have success. But what if that wasn’t Cassel back there? What if it was Brady, would we still blitz, or just sit back in zone and let him tear us apart? I’m just saying that because our D at times looks good and others looks like they don’t know how to play. We need to be able to blitz and drop back in man or zone and defend the pass no matter who is QB. I am still very hopefull for the division and Cutler’s first playoff appearance. Before we can do that though we need to start playing football. I’m sorry but put Bly on the bench and play Jack Williams. At least he’ll learn something from getting beat all the time. It doesn’t even look like Bly is making any adjustments on his man when he gets beat, and he doesn’t provide any run support like Champ. Maybe Williams would be a little more physical, I don’t know, just my thoughts. I just have to vent after a game like that. I also have to make a remark about my previous post. I don’t mean to hattin’ on Cutler so much. He is an awesome QB for us. He is the QB of the Broncos and has been the best one since Elway. I just want him to play to his potential and he doesn’t look like he is doing that. I know last night he had his finger injury. But also as a player you need to know when you hurt your team and when you help them. I don’t know for sure but it is just a thought, would it have been better to put Ramsey in with a healthy hand than have Jay play with a injured one. I know it was just a finger and he was playing through the pain and trying to be a leader. But that one finger means the difference between a good throw and a horrible one. Just my thoughts. I love ya Broncs with all my heart but ya need to start playing.
If anyone is to blame for losses like that, it’s the team as a whole. I still have a tremendous amount of faith in Jay as an elite QB and Shanahan as an intelligent playcaller. The problem is the Broncos’ strengths like those cannot be a factor when the team has 5 turnovers. You just can’t get out of a hole that you dig yourself.
It also has a lot to do with momentum; I think if Jay hadn’t of hurt his finger, he would’ve made more comfortable throws, even on that first drive, and we probably would have scored. I think our team is especially affected by momentum; you guys see what happens when the Broncos have momentum going in their favor - they’re almost impossible to stop. But that really didn’t matter last night, because the turnovers hurt us more than anything.
I don’t see the complaining with the defense either, in regards to last night’s game anyway. We played good D until Champ was out; it was only then when Randy Moss became a factor. Up until that point he only had 1 reception for 9 yards. The line is really the only glaring weakness I see with the defense; Elvis is the only above average player in that group in my opinion. We have one of the best linebacking cores in the league, and the secondary is made up of two great corners and two average safeties. That averages out to about a rating of 80-83 for the defense on a Madden video game.
The good news is we are still #1 in the division and we have a bye coming up to rest some key injured players. We have the Dolphins at Mile High on November 2nd, and if we have everyone back and we don’t have more than two turnovers, I guarantee a win.
GO BRONCOS!! YOU’LL GET EM NEXT TIME…NOT THRILLED ABOUT THE LOSS…BUT I STILL GOT YOUR BACK!!..AND TO ALL ALL THE FAIR WEATHER FANS…SHUT THE FREAK UP…BLAH BLAH BLAH…DEFENSE…BLAH BLAH BLAH…STILL 4-3 SO CHILL THE EFF OUT!!
Well , hard not to be devastated by a game like this , we didn’t play Tennessee or Buffalo or even Pittsburg who are really good teams in the AFC , we played the patriots , the defending AFC champion coming from a 16-0 season BUT playing whithout the guy which turn this franchise around . The same team that’s been routed by the chargers and the dolphins . We surrendered 250 yds to a team that can’t previously run ,we surrendered sacks to a team that can’t previously rush , 2 ints to a team which secondary was previously a joke so : 1) BB made some terrific adjustment during the week 2) we played horrible on every phases of the game . Everybody watching the game has the answer .The positives notes : we’re still a one game and a half leader of our division ( hillarious ) 2) this team can’t get any worse and the blueprint is simple : don’t turn the ball over on offense , stop the run on defense . No need for flashy numbers ! Still have hope but no more games like this one .
Injuries are killers, look at what the broncos did not have on the field. Sheffler, Stokley two very important parts of the offense. With Sheffler being able to stretch the middle defense, it allows the offense another dimension. With Stokley you add in the ability to run the short routes and find the holes left in the defense. Cutler got hurt on the first play of the game, hard to throw the ball after that , and you have to change the scripting of the plays, if they are affected by the injury. Defense held them to field goals and played damn near the whole half. Turnovers and injuries are killers, no defense can hold out for ever being on the field that long. Some of the best teams over the last five years are in the same place we are. Parity is here deal with it, teams can not suffer injuries and remain productive as they were before. Champ getting hurt that was costly also, and however said trade Champ can kiss my A__, for those of you who want to say the sky is falling, sorry to hear that way to early for that. We are not half way to the season yet, grow up we are no worse off than any other teams, the Pats looked good once lets see how they fair against the Bills before they get crowned the best team again.
has anyone noticed when the broncos lose theire rythm on opening drives it looks like they cant get their composure back….jay looks like if things dont go right from the get go, it’s over…he needs to be more composed to be a nfl qb…he appears rattled. The two turnovers only added to 6pts and we could’ve come back but after that it appeared over. The def looked stunned and the offense lost its rythm….this team is still young and these are the growing pains but what i’m really worried about is jay’s mind set.
MOST PATHLETIC PERFORMANCE I HAVE SEEN IN YEARS!!!!!!
WHAT A JOKE! REMOVE THAT TOO!
I agree with that last post Broncfalls. We all just want to see BRONCOS FOOTBALL! WE ALL BLEED ORANGE AND BLUE RIGHT? DAMN RIGHT WE DO! GO BRONCOS!
i still gatta love my Broncos…..although it the loss stung me a lot, a lot of my friends here are bandwagon fans of the patriots last year and they couldnt stop pickin on me…oh well…i just had to laugh at Randy Moss……….COMPLETELY A NO FACTOR WITH CHAMP IN THE GAME…..ahaha..and as soon as Champ went out,,got 2 consecutive TDs and started jumpin around celebrating,,,atleast we know who won that battle…..
the offense lost its composure right on the first drive…Cutler rattled,,and Hall losin it….
i noticed during the second half that defensive captains were lost,,still calling plays while the Pats already snapped the ball…..
we need this BYE extremely,,Selvin and Torrain must come in….
