Broncos at Colts: Pregame Blog

December 13th, 2009 - 9:13am by Gray Caldwell

From high up in the Lucas Oil Stadium press box, it’s almost an aerial view of the field. This is easily the highest above the field we’ve been this season, but it should be interesting to watch as plays develop.

It’s a gloomy day in Indianapolis, but you’d never know in the stadium. An announcement was just made that the gates are open, and fans are slowly making their way toward their seats. A few player are already on the field warming up, including Kyle Orton, Marcus Thomas, Darcel McBath, Alphonso Smith and Chris Simms.

Speaking of the gloomy day, normally we would put the weather report here, but obviously with the contest being played in a dome, it won’t affect anything come game time.

We’ll post the inactives as soon as we get them, and Zach Eisendrath is on the field taking pregame pictures as we speak.

For the Broncos, Tom Brandstater, David Bruton, LaMont Jordan, Seth Olsen, Herb Taylor, Chris Baker, Brandon Lloyd and Le Kevin Smith are inactive for today’s game. Brandstater is listed as the team’s third quarterback.

Players from both teams are on the field — the Broncos are wearing all-white uniforms, while the Colts will don thier traditional home blue jerseys with white pants.

Just got some pregame photos from Zach Eisendrath.

12:15 p.m. EST: Both teams are on the field in full. The Broncos are jogging from the end zone to about the 25-yard line and back, and the Colts are spread out, stretching on the other end of the field. Phil Collins’ “In The Air Tonight” is blaring through the speakers, and the stadium is slowly but surely filling up.

12:31 p.m. EST: The Broncos and Colts are running plays from opposite end zones. But now it looks like the Colts are finished with their set of plays, as the players in blue ran threw the tunnel to cheers from the currently sparse crowd. Now the Broncos are running into their tunnel as we are a little less than a half-hour away from kickoff.

12:53 p.m. EST: The Broncos have run onto the field led by Darrell Reid and Knowshon Moreno, who both run to the center of the field and stand for a moment. Reid, as you might recall, used to play in Indianapolis. The stadium is filling up and the crowd rains down a few boos onto the team. Now the Colts cheerleaders are lined up outside their tunnel, waiting for the players to run through — and here they come. The Colts have elected to introduce their offense.

12:56 p.m. EST: We’re minutes away from kickoff, and a giant American flag is being unfurled onto the field. It’s time for the National Anthem. See you in the first half live blog.

Three weeks ago with our inabliity to score, I’d have said the same thing, but with Clady on Freeney today, Indy only has half a pass rush. Orton! Orton! Orton!

  14. ColoradoNovelst says:

Send word to the Offensive Line Bench… Fans are with them. While today’s game does not mean much toward the playoffs, it is huge to make a statement that the Broncos are a contender. A win in Indianapolis today is absolutely in the cards for Denver, and the Offensive Line playing their best game ever is the key. Denver Defense will give Manning and company fits, when they can get on the field. A balanced attack both O and D will give players the freshness they need in the fourth quarter when Indy traditionally pulls their magic out of the hat. If the Broncos are fresh in the fourth quarter, and the Offensive Line has played their best game, count Denver in the W column.

  15. pjbar357 says:

Clady needs to be on the top of his game today.

  16. pjbar357 says:

Already have an injury. That is some crap.

  17. marshall15law says:

omg we already have someone down

  18. marshall15law says:

lets not worry though he’ll be alright

  19. pjbar357 says:

this game is blacked out for me, are the corners not playing tight?

  20. marshall15law says:

damn so close to keeping them to 3

  21. marshall15law says:

we have to play mistake free football to beat the colts that means no silly pentalies or turnovers
