KICKOFF: The Chiefs will receive the ball to start the second half.
Q3 15:00: Dexter McCluster receivers Prater’s kickoff and returns it 28-yards to the 32-yard line. Jamaal Charles runs for 1 yard on first down, and then carries for 16 yards and first down on the next play.
Q3 13:37: Thomas Jones runs up the middle for 11 yards before he’s stopped by Kevin Vickerson, and on the next play Perrish Cox stops Charles for a 4-yard loss. Champ Bailey storms into the backfield and sacks Cassel to knock the Chiefs back for a 9-yard loss. Cassel’s long pass on third down is incomplete, but the officials call D.J. Williams for unnecessary roughness for hitting a defenseless receiver and the drive continues.
Q3 11:02: Thomas Jones runs up the middle for 8 yards, and then Charles carries for 13 yards to the Denver 17-yard line. Jones takes his turn for 12 more yards, and then carries again to the Denver 2-yard line. On-second-goal from the 2, Cassel lines up in the shotgun formation and hands off to Charles for an apparent touchdown, but a flag is on the field. Kansas City is called for illegal formation because they did not have enough men on the line of scrimmage. They move back 5 yards, and Thomas Jones carries for 5 yards. The Chiefs line up for third-and-goal from the 2-yard line, and another flag is down. Kansas City is called for a false start, so now the Chiefs have to gain 7 yards for a touchdown. Jamaal Charles runs for 5 yards on the draw play, and the Chiefs will go for it on fourth-and-goal from the 2-yard line. Mario Haggan drives Cassel way back for the sack, and Denver escapes the drive without allowing any points.
Q3 7:32: The Broncos will take over on downs from their own 16-yard line. Orton takes the snap under center and hands off to Moreno, who runs for 2 yards. Dan Gronkwoski returns to the game and lines up in a two-tight end set with Graham. Orton fakes the handoff to Moreno and fires deep to Brandon Lloyd, but Brandon Carr is there to deflect the pass. Facing third-and-8 from the 18-yard line, Orton takes the shotgun snap and throws a pass behind Eddie Royal. Britton Colquitt is on to punt, and Javier Arenas calls for the fair catch at Kansas City’s 34-yard line.
Q3 6:35 On the Chiefs first play of the drive, Dexter McCluster busts an end-around for 57 yards, but it’s called back for holding. They now face first-and-15 at the 29-yard line, and Cassel’s pass fall incomplete. Thomas Jones runs for 3 yards, and Cassel converts the subsequent third down with a 19-yard pass to Verran Tucker.
Q3 4:19: Setting up at midfield, Cassel hands off to Jones for 1 yard. McCluster tries to the end around again, but Renaldo Hill sniffs it out after a 1-yard gain. On third-and-8, Cassel drops back and appears to fumble while Mario Haggan hits him. D.J. Williams pikcs up the ball and returns it just short of a touchdown, but there’s a flag on the field. The officials say there is no fumble because Cassel’s arm was moving forward, and the penalty is intentional grounding on Cassel. That counts as a lost down for the Chiefs, so they’ll punt on fourth down. Eddie Royal calls for a fair catch, and the Broncos will take over at their own 17-yard line.
Q3 3:16: Dan Gronkowski motions out wide, and Orton takes the snap over center. He finds Jabar Gaffney over the middle, but Brandon Carr smacks him hard and separates the receiver from the ball. On second-and-10, Knowshon Moreno carries for 2 yards, but there’s a flag on the field. Chirs Kuper is called for holding, but the Chiefs decline, which brings us to third-and-8. Orton’s pass intended for Lloyd is incomplete, and Colquitt punts for 29 yards on fourth down.
Q3 2:36: The Chiefs take over on the Denver 48-yard line. Jamaal Charles takes the handoff and runs behind a blocker for 14 yards before Wesley Woodyard pushes him out of bounds. Thomas Jones handles a pitch up the right side and runs for 2 yards before Jason Hunter tackles him. McCluster takes a handoff up the middle of the field and he’s stuffed by Denver’s defense. The rookie fumbles, and the Broncos recover.
Q3 1:24: Credit Justin Bannan with forcing the fumble and Mario Haggan with recovering it. The Broncos start the drive from their own 32-yard line, and Moreno carries for 2 yards on first down. Orton lines up in the shotgun and finds Gaffney over the middle for 10 yards and first down. Orton hand off to Moreno, who runs 6 yards to the Kansas City 49-yard line. That brings us to the end of the third quarter.
Q4 15:00: Moreno knifes up the middle of the defense for a 22-yard gain on a draw play to open up the fourth quarter. Orton looks deep for Lloyd on the next play, but Brandon Carr jumps in front of the the pass and almost intercepts it, but he can’t keep possession as he hits the ground. Eddie Royal pulls in a 4-yard catch on second down, and Orton again looks for Lloyd on the deep ball on third-down. They can’t complete it, and Matt Prater comes in to attempt a 41-yard field goal. The kick is good.
CHIEFS 10, BRONCOS 6
Q4 13:42: Prater kicks off to McCluster, who returns it 16 yards to the 24-yard line before he’s stopped by Richard Quinn.
**INJURY UPDATE** Spencer Larsen is out with a hamstring injury. His return is questionable.
Q4 13:36: Cassel’s first-down pass intended for Dwayne Bowe is broken up by Champ Bailey. The Chiefs set up a screen pass to McCluster, and the rookie gains 6 yards on the play. Facing third-and-4, Cassel takes the shotgun snap and and fires a pass to Terrance Copper, who gets tangled up with Jamaal Charles and can’t make the catch. Dustin Colquitt comes on to punt to Eddie Royal, and the receiver returns it 15 yards to the Denver 34-yard line.
Q4 12:26: Orton takes the snap under center, fakes the handoff to Moreno and fires deep for Gaffney, but two Chiefs are there to deflect the pass. Moreno handles the draw on the next play, breaking one tackle and slipping another for a 13 yard gain.
Q4 11:40: Orton’s first down pass intended for Lloyd falls incomplete, and the second down handoff goes to Moreno again. The back picks up 5 yards, and the Broncos face third-and-5 from Kansas City’s 48-yard line. Denver takes its first timeout of the half.
Q4 10:57: Knowshon Moreno gets the call on third down, easily converting the third down with a big run up the middle of the field for 24 yards. Orton’s pass is incomplete on the next play, and he’s called for delay of game after that. On second-and-long, Tamba Hali bursts into the backfield, sacks Orton, forces a fumble and recovers it himself.
Q4 9:58: The Chiefs take over on their own 40-yard line. Jamaal Charles runs for 3 yards, and then Cassel completes a 22-yard pass to Bowe, but it’s called back for offensive pass interference. Cassel completes an 8-yard pass to Tony Moeaki, but that’s not long enough, and Dustin Colquitt comes out to punt to Royal, who returns it 15 yards to Denver’s 34-yard line.
Q4 8:08: Orton’s first pass intended for Lloyd falls just too low to catch, and the quarterback’s second-down try to Moreno is incomplete as well. The Broncos are called for illegal formation on that play, but the Chiefs decline the penalty to get to third down. On third down, Orton launches deep to Lloyd, but he can’t make the tough catch over the defender. Britton Colquitt punts to McCluster, who returns it 4 yards to Kansas City’s 27-yard line.
Q4 7:44: Jamaal Charles carries the ball for 4 yards on first down, and Terrance Copper turns a short pass into an 8-yard gain and a first down for the Chiefs.
Q4 6:31: Copper gets the call gain on a 5-yard pass, and Charles carries for 6 more yards and another first down at the 50-yard line. Kevin Vickerson was shaken up on the play.
Q4 5:32: Cassel fumbles the snap, but Jamaal Charles is there to fall on the football before Robert Ayers can get to it. Ayers bats down the screen pass on second down, and the Chiefs face third-and-17. Cassel takes the shotgun snap and finds Thomas Jones underneath for 12 yards, but it isn’t enough. Eddie Royal calls for the fair catch on Dustin Colquitt’s punt at the Denver 15-yard line.
***INJURY UPDATE*** Joe Mays is out with a knee injury and is questionable to return.
Q4 3:50: Orton finds Brandon Lloyd for 18 yards on the first pass of the drive, but he can’t complete a pass to Gaffney on the next play. A group of Chiefs swarm Orton on the next play, and the quarterback is called down for a sack before he dumps the ball off to Moreno. On third-and-18, Orton finds Moreno over the middle for 14 yards. Britton Colquitt comes out to punt, and McCluster returns the football 2 yards to the Kansas City 17-yard line.
Q4 2:32: Thomas Jones runs for 4 yards, and Denver calls its second timeout of the half.
Q4 2:11: Jamaal Charles takes the handoff and runs 6 yards to Kansas City’s 27-yard line for a first down. That brings us to the two-minute warning.
Q4 2:00: Cassel hands off to Jamaal Charles, who runs for 1 yard before Kevin Vickerson tackles him. Denver takes its last timeout.
Q4 1:54: Charles runs for 2 more yards to bring up third down. Kansas City takes their first timeout of the half.
Q4 1:09: Charles carries for the third straight time, gaining 3 yards this time. Eddie Royal is back to receive Dustin Colquitt’s punt. Kansas City takes their second timeout.
Q4 0:20: Royal can’t bring in the punt, and it bounces behind him. Verran Tucker touched it before Perrish Cox scooped it up, so the Denver retained possession at the 8-yard line. Orton’s Hail Mary pass is incomplete and the Chiefs win it by a score of 10-6.

3:56 to go! Come on Broncos!
Moreno’s last carry was for 24 yards and hasn’t had a chance since.
Blaze, I hate to say it man, but I don’t think we’ll see Tebow today.
This has been Ortons downfall his whole career!!!
Can’t make plays in the crunch
Now that Lloyd has his reception can we go back to running the ball!
Let’s go O
Was that a first down?

Moreno could have gone all the way on that play.
Ortons arm is toast
We were screwed on yhe Orton play

Is our D holding up? the feed is slow
Game over, Pathetic display and i guess i couldnt of expected different. Orton needs to be benched and be demoted after this game. I will refuse to support this team if a change is not made. Ridiculous.
they know they are going to run and they can’t stop them from getting a first down
At least we have that to be excited about.
Thanks for the cookie comments. They made the day bearable.
Any possibility that the 2 minute warning has sounded on McD’s career with Denver?
We should get the ball back if we can just hold them
