10:26 a.m. CDT: We got here a while ago, and now we’re all set up in the press box.
Jay Cutler and the receivers just went back into the locker room after spending time out on the field practicing routes.
Brett Kern is the first dressed player out on the field, as usual, and the Broncos will be wearing all white uniforms today.
It’s a perfectly clear sky and very sunny. It’s early, but it’s already hot down on the field.
I just got some pictures from Jake Grilley, so I’ll be back in a few minutes to post them here in the blog.

10:48 a.m. CDT: I just got the inactives for today’s game.
The following players will not dress out for the Broncos:
Vernon Fox, Ryan Torain, Louis Green, Dewayne Robertson, Erik Pears, Dylan Gandy, Darrell Jackson and Josh Shaw.
For the Chiefs:
Ingle Martin
Brodie Croyle
Patrick Surtain
B.J. Sams
Napoleon Harris
Donnie Edwards
Brian De La Puente
Barry Richardson
10:58 a.m. CDT: This must be the Breast Cancer Awareness game here in K.C., as there is a huge line of people stretching from the sideline into the stands wearing pink shirts with pink ribbons. There is also a big pink ribbon up on the jumbotron.
11:05 a.m. CDT: If any of y’all out there are watching ESPN’s NFL Sunday Countdown, y’all just saw what we saw here.
The entire Broncos’ staff in the press box gathered around the TVs to watch a special on Jay Cutler and his Type 1 Diabetes. Along with Cutler going over the disease and his daily regimen with ESPN’s Rachel Nichols, the segment also featured interviews with Patrick Ramsey and Brandon Marshall.
11:17 a.m. CDT: Fans have been slowly filtering into the stands for over an hour, and I’ve already seen a fairly good sized contingent of Broncos fans in the stands.
The quarterbacks and receivers for both teams are out on the field warming up in uniform. Running backs are out on the field now as well.
And the Denver linebackers and defensive backs are coming out of the tunnel to a fair amount of cheers.
11:36 a.m. CDT: The Chiefs have just gone back in to the locker room after their final warmups.
Now the Broncos leave the field to head to the locker room, amid a mixed chorus of cheers and boos. I definitely heard more cheers, however.
11:52 a.m. CDT: The Broncos have exited the tunnel and taken the field, with the offensive unit being introduced as a whole. Again, a mixed chorus of cheers and boos.
11:55 a.m. CDT: And out come the Chiefs, intruduced by position group.
12:00 p.m. CDT: It’s just about time for kickoff.
The special teams captain for the Broncos this week is Matt Prater.
The Chiefs won the toss and will receive.
And my apologies to y’all following the blog out there. I have actually been putting mountain times but labeling them as central. The timecode has now been changed. See you in the first quarter notes.

Great action shots!!!!!!!! Broncos go punch them in the mouth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The same amount of fans will be in those stands by the 4th qtr
We could really use Robertson today, why is he inactive?
I would love to know that DAMN!!!!!!!!!!
I believe D-Rob’s knee is acting up, and thats why he’s out. Could be wrong though. This’ll be an opportunity for Ek to move inside, and get Crowder and Moss more reps on the outside.
So Moss and Crowder are playing and we need a big game from Thomas if Robertson is out
I want to see some progress from the defense. We need to shore that side of the ball up.
I would love to see our D step up and put somethin on they @$$.
I expect a 34-16 victory
i think the score will be 41-3 to the broncos
Must win game…. we have to take care of the cupcakes.
Is there a website a could watch this game online without paying for it? Any help would be appreciated
TD, Marshall.

that hit larsen had on special teams that took savages helmet off was one of the hardest hits ive ever seen go rookie.
You can watch the game on this feed, http://www.mogulus.com/nomadxx
how horrible offiating. the team didnt help it out much either
Unfortunately, the Broncos have no defense, how is possible to lose in kansas?
Welcome to reality Shanahan, and a mediocre season again. Fired defensive coordinator
Well, that was a joy watching. Not. I would put this loss totally on the coaches. We all know the players can dominate the Chiefs, so since they didn’t, the coaches are at fault. Fans get pretty disgusted when they see this type of game. Pathetic.
Shanny we love you. Give up and get us a Defensive coach or get the hell out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cutler. You played young. It’ll happen. Maybe if your head coach would stick to what he knows?!!
Again Shanny. All faith for your offensive knowledge. You can’t do it all. You should be ashamed as should the players!! Can we have Champ defend the pass please? Gawd He was all over!! He can’t do it all either!!
Yep I’m PISSED!!
pathetic…… living where i do i dont get to watch many bronco’s games. this was one i managed to catch. mega pissed off
OH MY WORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHAT THE HE** WAS THAT???????
Although it doesn’t suprise me at all… it was the 0-3 Chiefs for goodness sake and our Defense was not alive AT ALL today. I’m so mad I don’t know what to do with myself.
And I hate this just as much as all the other people Broncos Country BUT it make absolutely no sense for some of you to start bashing our coaching staff. For the last 3 weeks we’ve all been praising them like they were football gods and now that we lost some of you put it ALL on the coaches… HELLOOOOOOOOOOOO… the players have to carry out what the coaches come up with. The players are just as much to blame for this unbelievable embarassment as the coaches. This was supposed to be a team effort and only so many gave all that they could with the lack of some of the other players who obviously didn’t show up for work today. I don’t blame them one bit, I hate that stadium like you wouldn’t believe, it takes a MIRACLE to win in Arrowhead that’s why I don’t go to games there anymore because more than likely you’ll walk out of there while getting the loss shoved in your face.
And I know some of the players had to be so pumped up and probably pretty cocky about our last 3 wins. WE can’t do that because then something like this happens. Being cocky like that doesn’t get us anywhere. I know I’m sounding like I’m preaching to the choir and I’m surprised I was even able to say what I’ve said I’m so ticked off. Believe me I’m sure I was close to breaking my TV I was yelling so much. Bascially, guys there is no need to start bashing our coaching like it was 100% their fault… it wasn’t… it takes the players too, to win and actually play like a team, WHAT A CONCEPT!!!!!!!!! We had that down like dip on a chip when we played Oakland, that was a team now like last year we’re dissipating. We keep getting caught in close situations and it obviously caught up to us. We have to come back STRONG next week, we have the talent, we have the players to make this team SuperBowl worthy, we are certainly capable of making this our only loss. We can play SOOOOO much better than whatever it is we tried to do today. That was just ridiculous… many of you won’t believe this, but I really am so mad I don’t know what to say. I’m just sick and tired of coming on here after a loss and then all the sudden everyone is bashing the coaches when it takes the players to produce a quality football game. Next thing I know you all will be going on and on and on and on about how Shanny should go… after one loss that can be corrected???? Now that’s just shameful. I can’t say this enough, I’m just as ticked off as everyone else here, we can rebound from this but all the negativity around here is certainly not going to solve our problems.
With faith…
GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, and I apoligize for writing probably a little too much. As many of you, I was venting my frustration. Oy Vey
Oh yeah, to get one good thing out of the game, Champ’s hit on a much bigger Larry Johnson, was all-world. Where did that come from? Amazing hit, lifting the huge RB and making him fumble was stunning. Nice Champ!
WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! have faith for what we just lost to one of the worst teams in the league and let them run the ball all over us and score 33 points pathetic they need to make some serious changes fast by firing the defensive coaches cause they cant coach they suck their schemes suck we need to get a real defensive coordinator and stop getting these wanna be’s who dont know s**t about the game we teams like jacksonville and tampa bay and were busy getting man handled by the chiefs. they had two rookie corners starting and we did not take advantage they did not prepare well for this game they came out flat not intense at all and took this game lightly hopefully they correct these problems real quick other wise were in for a long season 8-8 or best 9-7 cause of the offense alone can carry us to those wins.
We win as a team so we should lose as a team, the fact is in 2008 we have scored more points than we did in 2007, the problem is in 2008 we have allowed more points than 2007, I have said in the past that we can score and we can, but now the fact is you must be able to stop other teams, and even if we get rid of all our coaches it is not going to help, we need to replace all but 5 players of our defence, I am looking forward to the 2009 Darft day because we will have one of the first 5 picks, hopefully we will pick someone on defence.
I think the D played OK today I’m sorry fellas it wasn’t the D today it was lack of focus on the Offence. Fumble, fumble, Interception, Interception, that along with special teams giving up so much yards on kickoff is what hurt the team today. the offence never really got into rythem. I’m pretty pissed at Cutler today those two intercetion should not even had happend if you had noticed that Cutler on one of his interceptions scheffler was wide open for a big gain and he went for Marshell deep and under threw him I think the only nock on Cutler is he needs to take the easy play sometimes and not the homerun.
dbroncofan17701… that’s exactly what DEDICATED fans do for their teams… they keep and have faith. Believe me I know this sucks, I know its a hard thing to do after what we saw. If we had won, which we should have no argument, not one person would come on here and suggest that some our coaching staff should be fired or let go. I know you’re mad… DANG IT – SO AM I!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You people talking crazy aren’t the only Bronco fans that are angry, that don’t want to blame somebody… heck I want to blame the whole world for this ONE game that we can certainly get revenge for come December. But yes, as a fan – if you still are – you are obligated to have faith in your team win or lose.
For once, stop assuming the worse for this team. Don’t get all over me for saying this… but for once could some of you think positive about what we can do the next week. After reading some of the comments, seems like none of you care. Yeah, yeah, yeah… you’re gonna say that our team didn’t care today blah blah blah… they just might care next week and the rest of the season. Stop assuming this team will keep going down because all you’re doing is making an a** out of yourself – if you have a brain you’ll make the connection.
So dbroncofan17701… the answer is Y-E-S… try having a little faith in this team. Didn’t mean to single you out but it bugs me when “fans” come on here acting like they give a crap and then they bash their own team. It makes no sense. As it pains me to say this… LET IT GO MAN!!!!!!
WITH FAITH…..
GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!
Did you see Cutler push that little punk chief down. That was the only thing i could smile about at the end. We had just an awful day on offence. We gave up 4 turnovers and went into the redzone 3 times and came away with 6 points and a missed fg. That was a pathetic game and our defence just got destroyed again. This needs to get fixed. Get at them Shanahan.
What a terrible game…………..
You know what scott2212…. SHUT UP!!! I’m not the one that’s lame, you’re bashing your own team. Yeah, I know we were pretty terrible, I wasn’t born yesterday. If you “love the broncos”, then show it. By now, we have more than plenty to keep both sides of our ball plenty occupied till next week and for the season. They now have the world to work on with the offense & defense.
I KNOW WE WERE TERRIBLE!!!!!!! By now the whole world knows it, the players know it but they have to fix it. They know what they need to work on to make them a heck of alot better than the crap they pulled today. If I were Cutler, I would have probably shoved that guy too, obviously he was extremely ticked and angry.
And just so it bugs you and gnaws at your brain because I know you think I’m “lame” for saying it…
WITH FAITH, WITH FAITH, WITH FAITH, WITH FAITH IN THIS TEAM…
GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!
I don’t understand why anyone would be surprised that the Chiefs beat the Broncos in KC. In the HISTORY of games at KC, the Broncos have won two years in a row only once!! In my preseason guess of how the Broncos would do, I chalked this up as a loss because of the history of the rivalry. For whatever reason, the Chiefs have Shanny nuimber in KC. Somewhat like Shanny has the Raiders number. It just happens for no logical reason. The truth of the matter is that the Broncos got outplayed in every phase of the game.
As with everyone else, my concern is the total lack of a pass rush. And, please drop the 3-4. the Broncos tried it on the Chiefs second offensive paly and the play almost goes for a touchdown. You can’t have an effective 3-4 unless you have a dominant nosetackle. The Broncos don’t. Remember gang, this is a very talented, but very young team. Their lack of experince playing together will almost cetainly cost us another game or two. I look at this season as a 20 game preseason that will get us a finely tuned team next year. You can’t be a Super Bowl contender every year. The Broncos aren’t this year, but will be next year.
the whole game they said that the were picking on bly…. and bly was always matched up against bowe…. who the hell was champ covering all game, it was the best game i have seen him have in a while but bowe tore it up because he was matched up against jack williams often. i have no problem with jack… but he is like 5’8 that is a terrible matchup.
OUr defence is Really rlly bad…. they rlly need to address that in the offseason………we cant go deep in the playoffs with this D we will get bounced the first round
why do the broncos always pass on the 3rd down and short yardage???? is their something wrong with shanahan and cutler for deciding this. im a woman and i know that it kills us everytime. we were really dissappointed in the team this week , knowing that mistakes like that are costly. well, on to the next game and yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa broncos.
