Q3 14:19: Sproles gets the carry on first down and he runs for 6 yards. Mike Tolbert runs for 8 yards and fumbles, but San Diego recovers. Sproles runs for 1 yard on the following first down. Perrish Cox breaks up a pass on second down, setting up third-and-9 for the Chargers. Rivers takes the shotgun snap and hits Darren Sproles over the middle with room to run. Sproles turns on the jets and finds blockers down the field, turning the short catch into a 57-yard touchdown catch.

Q3 12:36: Nate Kaeding kicks off to Demaryius Thomas, who finds a seam in the coverage and carries the ball just past the 40-yard line. But there are two flags on the play, a holding penalty on the Broncos and a tripping penalty on the Chargers. The penalties offset at the spot of the holding call, so the Broncos will start with a first-and-10 from their own 19-yard line.
Q3 12:29: Knowhson Moreno gets the call on first down and runs for a 2-yard gain. Orton lines up under center, fakes the handoff to Moreno and throws a slip-screen to Demaryius Thomas. Antoine Cason sniffs out the play and tackles the receiver for no gain. Ryan Harris is called for a false start on third down, pushing the Broncos back to a third-and-13 from their own 16-yard line. Orton’s pass is too high for Lloyd, and Britton Colquitt will come in to punt.
Q3 10:57: Sproles returns Colquitt’s punt 5 yards to the San Diego 45-yard line, and Mike Tolbert takes the first down carry for 4 yards. Kevin Vickerson stops Tolbert for no gain on the next play, setting up third-and-6 for San Diego. Rivers drops back and throws a pass in the face of pressure, finding Malcom Floyd for 18 yards and a first down.

Q3 8:43: On first down for the Chargers, D.J. Williams reads the screen pass to Sproles and combines with Ryan McBean to take the back down 6 yards behind the line. Marcus McNeil was called for holding on the play, but the Broncos declined the penalty. Sproles runs for 4 yards on the next play, setting up third-and-12 for the Chargers on Denver’s 35-yard line. Rivers’ pass is incomplete, and Kaeding has come on to attempt the 53-yard field goal. San Diego elects to take its first timeout of the half before the kick.
Q3 7:57: The Chargers have decided to punt instead of attempt the long field goal, sending out Mike Scifres. The punt rolls out of bounds at Denver’s 5-yard line.
Q3 7:48: Orton’s fakes the handoff on first down and hits Brandon Lloyd for 13 yards and a first down. The quarterback works the fake again on the next play, firing a deep pass just out of reach for Lloyd up the left sideline. On the ensuing play, Orton hits Moreno on a screen, but the back is brought down for a 3-yard loss. Orton hits Daniel Graham for a 6-yard gain well short of the first down, and Colquitt comes out to punt. Eric Weddle waives for the fair catch, and the Chargers will take over at their own 47-yard line.

Q3 5:45: On first down, Tolbert takes the handoff and bulls his way forward for 6 yards before Brian Dawkins takes him down. Rivers hands off to Tolbert again on second down, this time for a draw play and a 3-yard gain. Denver’s defense is called for encroachment before the third down play, giving San Diego a fresh set of downs.
Q3 4:12: Justin Bannan stops Jacob Hester for no gain on first down, and Champ Bailey takes down Sproles after a 2-yard gain on second down. Facing third-and-8 from Denver’s 37-yard line, Rivers takes the shotgun snap, scrambles to his right and dives just past the first-down marker for a 9-yard gain.
Q3 2:15: Rivers hands off on the draw play to Tolbert for 4 yards on first down and gives to Tolbert again for a 3-yard gain on second down. On third-and-3 from Denver’s 21-yard line, Rivers lines up under center and completes a pass to a wide open Kory Sperry for 13 yards and another first down. Tolbert takes the first-down carry for 4 yards to end the third quarter of play.
Q4 15:00: On second down, Tolbert takes the handoff and runs for a 1-yard gain to the Denver 3-yard line, and Rivers hits Jacob Hester for a touchdown pass on the next play.

Q4 14:16: Perrish Cox is back to receive Kaeding’s kickoff, but the short kick falls to Spencer Larsen, who runs for 9 yards on his third return of the night. On first-and-10 from the Denver 29-yard line, Knowshon Moreno takes the handoff and runs for 4 yards. Orton finds Brandon Lloyd over the middle for a 3-yard gain, but can’t complete a pass to Eddie Royal on third down. Britton Colquitt punts to Sproles, who returns it 8 yards to the San Diego 22-yard line before Joe Mays stops him with a big hit.
Q4 13:02: Rivers lines up in the shotgun and hands off to Tolbert for 2-yard gain on the draw play. Rivers pitches left to Tolbert, and Wesley Woodyard and Joe Mays stop the back for a 1-yard gain. On third-and-7, Marcus Thomas pressures Rivers and the quarterback can’t complete a pass on the run. Mike Scifres is out to punt to Eddie Royal who picks up the bouncing punt and finds room up the right sideline for a 33-yard return.
Q4 11:27: Starting from San Diego’s 39-yard line, Orton lines up in the shotgun and tosses a screen pass to Moreno, who picks up 14 yards and a first down. Moreno gets the call again on a draw play, spinning off one tackler and keeping his balance for a 12-yard gain. The back picks up 1 yard on the next play, and then makes a 6-yard catch on the next play. Facing third-and-3 from Chargers’ 6-yard line, Orton takes the shotgun snap and has nowhere to go before getting sacked by Vaughn Martin for a 7 yard sack. The Broncos are going for it on fourth down, and Orton fires a high pass to Brandon Lloyd. The receiver leaps up over three onlookers and comes down with a circus catch for the touchdown.

Q4 8:48: Matt Prater’s kicks off for a touchback, and the Chargers will start from their own 20-yard line. Tolbert carries for 3 yards on first down, and Sproles turns a catch in the flat into a 10-yard gain on second down. With a new set of downs, Rivers lines up under center and hands off to Tolbert, who finds a hole up the middle for 22 yards. The run puts him over the 100-yard mark for the night.
Q4 6:25: Tolbert runs again on first down, picking up the 5-yards. A San Diego man has made his way onto the field and waives his T-shirt around before he’s tackled and escorted off by three security guards.
Q4 6:05: San Diego is called for a false start so the Chargers are moved back to a second-and-10. Tolbert carries for 2 yards before he’s stopped by Kevin Alexander, setting up a third-and-8. Rivers can’t get the snap off in time, so San Diego is called for delay of game and now faces a third-and-13 from midfield. Sproles takes the handoff on the draw play and gains 1 yard. Denver is calling their first timeout of the second half.
Q4 4:51: Eddie Royal fair catches the punt, putting his team in position to start from the 9-yard line. Orton lines up in the shotgun and finds Moreno over the middle for 8 yards. Orton hurries the offense to the line and completes a pass to Orton in the same place, picking up 10 yards and a first down at the 27-yard line. Orton looks for his running back again, this time completing an 8-yard pass. The quarterback completes a quick 5-yard pass to Jabar Gaffney for another first down, and then Orton throws an incomplete pass in the same direction. On second-and-10, Orton rolls to his right but gets sacked for a 12 yard loss when Larry English jumps on his back.
Q4 2:29: Orton’s third down pass is incomplete to Royal, and Britton Colquitt comes out to punt on fourth-and-22. Sproles returns the punt for 12 yards, and the Chargers will start from their own 45-yard line.
Q4 2:19: Jacob Hester runs for 3 yards on first down, bringing us to the final two-minute warning.
