15:00: Clifford Russell and Anthony Alridge are back deep for the Broncos. Russell fields the ball six yards deep in the endzone and kneels down for the touchback. Darrell Hackney comes out to start the game at quarterback.
13:30: The first three plays go to Alridge, two rushes, one went for 17 yards, and a short dumpoff pass from Hackney in the middle. The offensive starters are Chad Mustard, Tyler Polumbus, Erik Pears, Dylan Gandy, P.J. Alexander, Kory Lichtensteiger, Peyton Hillis, Anthony Alridge, Keary Colbert and Clifford Russell.
12:00: On a third-and-two, Michael Pittman was stuffed for a loss of a yard. Sam Paulescu gets the first shot at punter. He boots it out of bounds inside the 10.
11:57: The starters on defense are Tim Crowder, Alvin McKinley, Nic Clemons, Jarvis Moss, Niko Koutouvides, Wesley Woodyard, Louis Green, Karl Paymah, Hamza Abdullah, Roderick Rogers and Domonique Foxworth.
Kurt Warner starts at quarterback for the Cardinals, completing his first pass of the night to Anquan Boldin for six yards.
10:55: Louis Green took down Edgerrin James for a five yard loss on third down, forcing the Cardinals to punt away. Glenn Martinez fielded the punt at the Denver 45 and was taken down immediately.
9:30: Hackney completes a pass to Keary Colbert, who makes a nice move to get by a few defenders and run after the catch for a first down. He was taken down by Denver native, Calais Campbell.
9:00: Alridge has another impressive run, this one going for 16 yards on a fake end-around.
7:30: Hackney charges up the middle, lowering his shoulder into the oncoming defenders. He gains 15 yards and first down on the play.
The coaching staff is getting a really good look at Alridge, as he is taking on the Arizona starting defense. He has already gained 40 yards on 6 carries on a variety of runs.
6:00: On a long second-and-goal after a penalty on the Broncos, Hackney is sacked for a two-yard loss. He then hands off to Pittman on an even longer third-and-goal, and Pittman picks up three. In comes Prater for a 32-yard attempt, and he buries it. 3-0, Broncos on top.
4:34: Prater kicks off to the Cardinals, who have Steve Breaston and Sean Morey back deep. But it doesn’t matter since Prater kicked it deep into the endzone for a touchback.
4:34: The Cardinals starters are still in the game on offense as they begin their second offensive series.
2:42: The Denver defense is swarming. Hamza just came on a blitz and took down rookie running back Tim Hightower for for a three-yard loss. I actually played against Hightower in high school, and he took on my alma mater of Vanderbilt twice during his career at the University of Richmond.
2:20: Warner completes a nice pass to Larry Fitzgerald, and Jack Williams was on the spot to make the tackle. But an offensive pass interference call on Boldin negates the play. Third-and-long from the Arizona 26. It didn’t matter in the long run as Warner came back out and hit Boldin for a first down on a 25-yard gain.
1:00: Hightower is hit in the backfield by Paul Carrington, forcing a fumble. Niko Koutouvides recovers, Broncos ball!
0:15: Nothing comes from the opportunity, as the Cardinals defense force a three-and-out. Brett Kern comes out to punt this time, and he too boots one deep, pinning the Cardinals at the 10.
0:04:The Cardinals will run one play, and then it’s on to the second quarter. Matt Leinart is now in at quarterback for Arizona. Tim Crowder sacks Leinart for a five-yard loss to end the quarter.
