KICKOFF: The Broncos will receive the second-half kickoff.
Q3 15:00: Brady Quinn is back in at quarterback to start the second half. After a touchback, the offense starts at the 20, and Quinn immediately hits Julius Thomas for a 7-yard gain.
STATS UPDATE: In his first-half performance, Kyle Orton was 10-for-13 for 135 yards and a touchdown — good for a 135.1 quarterback rating.
Q3 13:47: After Lance Ball picked up the final 3 yards for a first down, Quinn found Eric Decker for a 22-yard gain into Buffalo territory. The next two plays netted 5 yards — a 3-yard run by Ball and a 2-yard run by Brandon Minor — bringing up third-and-5. On third down, Quinn passes to Ball, but the back picks up only 4 yards. Faced with fourth-and-1, the offense stays on the field, and it’s Ball with a carry for the first down at the 38-yard line.
Q3 10:46: Quinn’s first-down pass is incomplete, broken up by former Bronco Andra Davis. On second down, Minor takes a carry up the middle, and he’s brought down by former North Carolina Tar Heel Da’Norris Searcy after 3 yards. On third-and-7 at the 35-yard line, Quinn lines up in the shotgun. He takes the snap and fires to David Anderson under pressure, but he’s short of the first down marker. Matt Prater jogs onto the field to attempt a field goal — looks to be a 48-yarder. It’s up and good, extending Denver’s lead.
BRONCOS 17, BILLS 3
Q3 9:18: Steven Hauschka is in for the kickoff, and it’s another touchback. There haven’t been any returns in the game. Tyler Thigpen is now in at quarterback for the Bills. On first down, former North Carolina Tar Heel Johnny White takes a carry, and he’s taken down — hard — by Mario Haggan for a 1-yard loss. It brings a big cheer from the crowd, but the rookie running back is still down on the field.
Q3 9:04: White down for a long time being worked on by trainers from both teams. He’s on a stretcher being driven off the field on a cart. Getting a nice applause from the crowd. And just like that play is set to continue.
Q3 8:33: It was second-and-11 when play resumed, and Thigpen hit Naaman Roosevelt for 8 yards before he was brought down by Perrish Cox. On third down, Cox is there for a pass breakup to force a punt. And now Cox is back to return the punt — he’s all over the place. The second-year corner gets the ball to the 37-yard line, where Quinn and the offense will take back over.
Q3 7:42: A holding penalty pushes the ball back 10 yards, setting up first-and-20. Eric Decker gets a screen pass, picking up 4 yards. On second-and-16, Quinn’s pass is incomplete, intended for Willis. Now third down, Quinn is in the shotgun. He takes the snap, drops back and nearly throws an interception on a pass intended for Decker, but the ball hit the ground for an incompletion. Britton Colquitt is in to punt for the Broncos. His punt is fielded at about the 12-yard line, and Searcy, the returner, is brought down by Chris Harris shortly thereafter. There’s a flag on the play for an illegal block in the back, pushing the ball backward to the 8-yard line.
Q3 6:04: That was a 56-yard punt by Colquitt. On first down, former Bronco Andre Hall takes a carry 12 yards for a first down at the 20. Thigpen proceeds to quickly hit Roosevelt for a 4-yard gain. Haggan is down after the play — but he quickly gets up and walks to the sideline flanked by trainers.
Q3 5:38: On second-and-6, Wesley Woodyard is there for a pass breakup. Third down brings another pass from Thigpen — and another pas breakup, this one due to a nice hit by rookie Mike Mohamed. That makes it fourth-and-6, and Cox is deep to field the Reid Forrest punt. The cornerback puts together a nice return to the Denver 48-yard line. Quinn trots back onto the field to lead the offense.
Q3 4:56: Under pressure, Quinn’s pass is incomplete on first down. Second down brings a short run by Brandon Minor.
*INJURY UPDATE: Mario Haggan has a shoulder injury and his return is questionable.
Q3 4:18: On third-and-9, Quinn fires a nice pass to Decker headed toward the sideline for a first down. The next play brings a 10-yard run by Minor for another first down at the 27-yard line. A false start quickly moves the ball back 5 yards, however. Now first-and-15, Jeremiah Johnson takes a toss to the left and picks up 8 yards. On second-and-7 at the 24-yard line, Quinn hits Britt Davis — who beat his man badly — in stride for a touchdown. The receiver dunked the ball through the uprights in celebration. Matt Prater’s extra point is good, extending Denver’s lead.
BRONCOS 24, BILLS 3
Q3 2:19: For the second time in the game, the Bills were offsides during a Denver extra point, so the Broncos will kick off from the 40-yard line after the 5-yard penalty is enforced. Steven Hauschka’s kickoff is yet another touchback as it sails out of the back of the end zone.
Q3 2:14: An incomplete pass on first down makes it second-and-10 at the 20-yard line, and Thigpen avoids a sack by dumping off a screen pass to yet another North Carolina Tar Heel rookie, Zack Pianalto, who is tackled after a 5-yard gain. On third down, Thigpen completes it to Kamar Aiken past Syd’Quan Thompson for a first down at the 36.
Q3 0:56: On first down, another Tar Heels rookie, Anthony Elzy, takes a carry for a 9-yard gain. I’m looking for the Carolina blue on the Bills uniform. That brings the third quarter to a close.
Q4 12:11: The Bills have a drive going after three first downs put the ball at the Denver 14-yard line. No huge plays, just chunks of yardage at a time. Except that last play — a 22-yard gain to receiver Marcus Easley. On the next play, Woodyard brought down Hall after a gain of just a yard. But second down brought a 13-yard touchdown strike from Thigpen to Felton Huggins — the Bills’ first touchdown of the evening. Rian Lindell’s extra point is good, and the Bills are set to kick off.
BRONCOS 24, BILLS 10
Q4 10:59: The touchback percentage remains 100 after the latest kickoff. Tim Tebow is now in at quarterback, and the Sports Authority Field at Mile High crowd is already chanting his name. He’ll take over the offense on the other side of a TV timeout.
Q4 10:51: Tebow’s first play from scrimmage is a handoff to Brandon Minor for a 4-yard gain. On second down, it’s Minor again, this time on a screen pass from Tebow. The Michigan product picks up 10 yards on teh play. He touches the ball on the third consecutive play, and picks up 3 more yards. On second down, Tebow fires deep down the sideline to Dante Rosario, but the tight end can’t quite haul it in over a defender. Now third-and-7 at the 37, Tebow lines up in the shotgun. There’s a flag on the play — delay of game on the offense. That makes it third-and-12 at the 42. Tebow is sacked on the play by linebacker Robert Eddins. Colquitt’s punt is fielded by Searcy, who is tackled by Chris Harris at the 27-yard line. That was a 62-yard punt by Colquitt — he’s really booming them tonight.
Q4 7:51: After a first down run by former Bronco Bruce Hall, Thigpen throws an incompletion to set up second-and-10 at the 42. Hall is short of the first down on another run.
Q4 6:44: Thigpen completes a pass to Aiken over the middle for 17 yards to get a new set of downs.
Q4 6:44: Play stops as David Bruton is down on the field injured on the play.
Q4 6:44: He is now up on his feet and being helped off to the sideline.
Q4 5:40: Thigpen tries to hit Elzy deep over the middle but Quinton Carter steps up to make a hit on the receiver, jarring the ball loose. Elzy then caches a pass and picks up a first on the next play and moves the ball down to the Denver 12-yard line.
Q4 5:40: Smith in at quarterback runs left for a 2 yard loss on first down. Thigpen back in and he throws a quick pass complete to Roosevelt to bring up 3rd and 4.
Q4 4:09: The third down pass is incomplete. The Bills go for it on fouth down and Perrish Cox breaks up a pass intended for Aiken to force the turnover on downs. Broncos now start on their own 6 yard line.
Q4 4:09: After a short run on first down, Johnson runs up the middle for another short gain. Third-and-six upcoming.
Q4 2:00: Tebow rolls left and scrambles for a 7 yard gain and a first down.
Q4 1:54: Johnson runs up the middle for a 5 yard gain. Buffalo calls a timeout.
Q4 1:47: Adam Weber now in at QB. He hands off to Johnson for a short loss and the Bills call another timeout.
Q4 1:47: Austin Sylvester takes a carry and picks up one yard. Bills call another timeout and Colquitt is in to punt on fourth down.
Q4 1:35: Punt team covers well and the Bills will start on their own 27-yard line.
Q4 1:02: Smith in at QB for the Bills. He completes 2 quick passes for a first down and a Bill is injured on the field.
Q4 1:02: Huggins is the player injured on the play. He walks off the field now with the trainers. There is a 10 second runoff on the clock due to the injury stoppage.
Q4 0:17: Smith scrambles for a big chunk of yardage then completes a quick pass for another first down. After one more completion the clock runs out and the game is over.
BRONCOS 24, BILLS 10: Final Score

might have well have let weber pass … they needed the first down
they need to give tebow a chance this aint even fair competition
Doom and Miller was cosntant pressure.
This is just stupid Mcdaniels drama all over again..Making me sick with drama stress about our QB situation
Miller got his first sack (was pretty). Doom was a dominating force.
cant wait to see doom and miller in reg season
They also only gave Tebow 3 passing plays out of the whole game! But yes, Miller and Doom absolutely dominated the game!!
Bay and many said it all this week but i was the optimist that said the sky wasn’t falling but for tebow fans … it is. And the reason I hate this is because all we will hear till next game and from nwo on is Tebow getting ripped. Sigh … it is what it is.
i still think they are shopping kyle orton to be honest
Makes me SO mad they do this to Tebow. Of course he’s going to look bad when he’s never given a fighting chance
unless they were protecting tebow by pulling him? Because of the situation and time
not aimed at any of you, just venting
If they were going to run the clock why risk injuring tebow? i bett they thought teebs would get more time but didnt.
honestly i could care less for the offense im excited for the defense
if this is their way of “protecting” him, they got a funny way of showing it. Big rip off
Great game. 24-10. I want to see MOAR!!!!!!!!
you should care, without an offense we won’t be winning any games. they put up the points… but defense was awesome tonight.
All I can say other than I’m p’od about Tebow not getting a fair shot… at least we won a game as a TEAM. That’s the bigger picture. I’m out.
GO BRONCOS 2011!!!
Loved what I saw out of the defense and offense under Orton and Quinn. Should have given Tebow more playing time though. We all know he’s better QB than Quinn.
Glad to see Fox get his first pre-season W as a Bronco
Thoughts on the game:
Doom: exactly what I expected. A dominating force. He was all over making clutch plays.
Miller: looked like what you want from a 2nd over all rookie. Got his first sack and it was real pretty.
Vaughn Had a hell of a game, making plays all over.
Champ: is still the champ.
Orton: gave up a deer-in-the-headlights sack. Other than that looked solid.
Moreno: looks 10 times better than in the past
McGahee was an excellent pick up: had two TDs in the game.
Quinn: coming along, looking solid. He might be pushing Orton for starting duties.
Decker: played, and played well. High hopes for his Broncos career.
Tebow: looked like trash, but wasn;t really even played. Picked up a crucial 3rd down to run out the clock.
Third sting d: Trash. Nothing more to say.
P. Cox: had a great game. If he is found innocent of those very serious charges (or if the trial is postponed long enough) looks to be challenging Vaughn for the starting duties across from CHAMP.
It is the bigger picture but I am p’oed as well. Anyway, If I was Tebow I wouldn’t have even gone out but u gotta be a team player … i woulda been like … its 4th, with the game in the bag, and barely anytime left. Put weber in and see what he’s got. I don’t HAVE to play today. That woulda been me. But that would be considered sulking and not a team player.
I remember someone was saying that they maybe doing to Tebow what was done to quinn in cleveland without knowing it … never giving him a fair shot … but many things have worked out for the kid so hopefully Tebow gets his time.
Team did great … barely got to watch but saw the last drive of the starting D with Moore hit and DJ Int. D played well. And O did as well from what I hear. Im glad to see improvements all around. Only dissapointment was not seeing Tebow play and thats because he clearly wont be starting this season, so this was the only time to enjoy a lil Tebow time. Loved the D tho … loved em.
Later days, TRB out –
Yea TRB…
All of our starters and even second teams did very good!! The defense doesn’t even look recognizable from last season!! Constant pressure on the QB!! Doom and Miller just took ever the edges!! Love to see Fox and Co put Miller on the end! I know a lot of people were worried about us getting Miller considering he was a 3-4 LB in college and 4-3 end but he covers and blitzes and comes off of the edge more than cover which is his main talent!! But nothing bad really to say at all other than our terrible 3rd string D and hardly any playing time for Tebow!!
I am going to do a very quick analysis of what I saw from the game:
Offense- Looked very good and Orton did amazing! Looks like him and Lloyd still have that connection like last season! He did however have that very pathetic fall down for a sack which gave Dareus credit for a sack which is what were used to seeing from Orton, but his passing was amazing and right on! Our O-line also seemed to hold up Buffalo’s pass rush which was a great relief! Liked seeing Thomas getting a couple catches! Our running game still looked good and complimented our play action and passing plays! Both of our RB’s, Moreno and McGahee, really tore it up tonight making their presence felt! Should see some sick play from them this regular season!
Defense- Looked very impressive as well! Doom and Miller dominated the whole time on the field and always seemed to be in the backfield putting pressure on the QB! Glad to see Miller get his first sack and he got to the QB so quick! Vaughn stepped up as well and I saw him in with the 1st team defense which he held his own! I also love seeing Moore stepping up and being physical! While I am not condoning him making hits like the one he did on the one WR that was a penalty and will be a fine, every time he went for a tackle he hit very hard and looked like a true Safety!! DJ also was amazing and basically all of our linebackers!! Woodyard had some very good plays and so did Mohammed! Thompson couldn’t cover his man all night long! I saw that several times which I was disappointed about!
Special Teams- Special Teams did absolutely wonderful! Colquitt showed his hammer foot and got several 58 yard punts tonight and also our boy Prater put up a 49 yard field goal! Prater also put it back for touch backs on kickoffs but that’s not surprising at all and is going to be a real headache all season!
I didn’t mention everything but did a quick overview of our 3 areas in the game. Nothing to note that was bad other than Thompson not getting good coverage, Tebow not getting hardly any reps, and our 3rd team defense not being able to stop anything! Looks like we have some really good depth at a lot of positions and I was very excited with the game tonight!! Also putting up over 20 points in our first two preseason games is really good too!
Congrats to Coach Fox. And the Duke of Denver. May there be many more.
Too many serious injuries tonight. Hope everyone will be ok.
Orton! That’s all I’ll say about that. Love that Willis gave the ball to the kid after the TD. That kid will always have that memory for life. (mile high salute on the 1st TD was AWESOME)
Moore. Kid Vicious! What was illegal about that hit. I watched the replay 3 times. He led with
his shoulder. Did not launch. Was not helmet to helmet. Can someone please elaborate. Which reminds me. Doom getting flagged for roughing? Please. That was not roughing. The hit on BQ was textbook roughing. More on that in a bit. Flag football league. Geeeesh.
Moreno is looking money. Stay healthy and let the beast come out. We can use it #12 overall!
Champ. Nuff said. Goody looking good too!
Hopefully our D can keep this up!!!!
BQ- number 2. Interesting development. He keeps this up- we may be saying Hillis who? Ok. I’m jumping the gun on that one. LOL
Tebow. Nice to see the slide. You will prolong your career. Get to work young man. You’ve got
some competition.
A win always feels good. Let’s start a streak and do it again next week!
GO BRONCOS!!!!! Orange Crush take 2
You guys are killing me with this whole tebow getting screwed thing. Its his second year and some of you are acting like its the end of the world that hes not starting…like chill out peeps its gonna be ok. Why does it matter if hes second or third string anyways? Pretty sure they will still use him sparingly in special packages either way. Smh at some of you acting like youre a GM
DJ was all over the place! Miller and Doom kept finding their way into the backfield and we scored in the redzone. Good stuff. Not even worried about Tebow. Goodnight Bronco fans. I’m gonna stay away until all the inevitable Tebow’s career is over talk subsides.
Of course the anti-Ortons are going to give him crap. Doesnt matter that the pocket collapsed. He stepped up in it and Marcel Dareus got him.
Yeah Orton fell down. Please
Yeah and judging from all those dumb flags I really hate the direction the NFL is moving. But I guess we’ve seen it coming for awhile…
This is the same Bills team that had 9 sacks last week. 2 this week? Hmmmm
Who was it that always signed off “The battle is won in the trenches”? Lol
The flag on Moore was warranted by the rules .. I dont agree with the rule but it was warranted. Back in the days it woulda been clean. The game is fast, he was just trying to make a play. Its a defenseless receiver thing … he had no chance to protect himself, not to mention when the hit landed, the ball had already bounced off the fingertips and was gonna be an incompletion … hard to tell at full speed. He will still get fined tho
Tebows career is not over … I just don’t think he is getting a fair shake but its just one game … the problem lies in the onslaught of Tebow bashing that will follow … a kid that already deals with more attention than im sure he cares to have. If he was a weaker man, he woulda been torn down by now … but he is human, he gets frustrated, and im sure he was frustrated by his lack of play time. To a guy who was gonna be a starter, cuz Orton was gonna get traded ( a trade i heard he asked for) … its one thing to remain second string … its another to take a step backwards to 3rd. when u were possibly gonna be 1. Its frustrating, but he will get through it. All i know is if they truly don’t wanna use him they should trade him … give him a chance elsewhere and save us 6 mil on a 3rd string QB. I just feel for the kid … man gets ripped for everything, from his faith to his virginity to his mechanics to pretty much sweeping his accomplishments under the rug. Thats all. Man may be the most popular but he is also the most scrutinized.
Its preseason … and its 1 preseason game, against a team that picked right after us in the draft … we aint going to the ‘ship but the improvement is there. TRB
And by he he asked for i mean Orton asked for.
Our Defense is definitely more aggressive this year … feel bad about White tho. He was a RB many of us wanted. It was a freak play. Clean hit just shoulder hit and then head slam. Theres no way to prevent that .. it just happens. Violent game. I was hoping for a thumbs up. I hope he is ok. TRB
really we win an becuase tebow has nothing to do with it and you bronco fans are mad thats very sick
trb I thought the same thing it was a close play dont think he should of been punished, but not high fived in the same token. I think people will start noticeing now, we beat dallas and they know that.
You guys get off the QQ thing for crying out loud that horse has been dead for awhile. Did you like the game, Orton or Quinn is the best chance we have, and if you want to get techicale Dont mind the spellingt but quinn can get away from pressure, he is better then tebow at this point if you know anything about footballl. If Quin got all the reps with the 1s he would be aueswome.
same OLD BRONCOS lmao, You guys arent fans. Thru thick or thin baby,
Is Orton or Quinn are the best chances we have than we again will suck this year. Since when did we become the Browns and get excited with hoping for average?
Sorry that should have been IF……. not is
oh so tebows the answer west coast? get out of here
I’m tired of all the whining about Tebow not getting a fair shot. How about Orton. He doesn’t get a fair shot from any of you Tebow fanatics and I know there are a lot of you. Somehow you forget that last year the Broncos had no running game and the worst defense in the league. Every team we played knew that Orton had to throw the ball. Of course it was tough in the red zone when we couldn’t run and again, they all knew that Orton had to pass. Give the guy a break. He’s earned it.
By the way, Fox won’t name Orton the starter because he doesn’t want his house burned down by all you Tebow fans.
@ sndvl: I’m sorry watch that play again. He didn’t “step up into the pocket.” He straight up panicked. He pulled the ball down (thus no longer watching for any receivers), and he started essentially stumbling around. He started left, hesitated, motioned right, hesitated, kinda took a half step forward, hesitated.
It was ugly. He essentially panicked and then started meandering towards the pressure. He looked and acted like he was doing nothing but waiting to get sacked. He might as well have taken a knee.
Don’t get me wrong. I been a fan since about ’88, and I will ball-out cheer for any non-losing (8-8 or better) QB we got (I liked griese, loved plummer, and tried to like cutler). Orton takes us to a 10+ season, I might have to buy his fat head.
He had a great game, but that sack he took said EVERYTHING about why I don’t like watching him start right now.
Quinn looked really good today. I would rather see Quinn start than Orton. Hey, if Quinn ends up being a winning QB for us, i might be able to stop crying every time I see Peyton Hillis in a Browns uniform.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFmfUaxSjvE
/crying profusely
Aargh!!!
Why did I remind myself of the pain of that trade? Why did I look for videos of Hillis trucking over people (like I know he does)?
Why does Peyton Hillis have to look like Earl Campbell in that vid? Why?
All I can say is, if Quinn ends up being worth it, it will go a long way towards healing a whole in my orange and blue heart. But I think Quinn will have to be a top 10 QB to justify that trade. I hope it happens.
I don’t get to watch the game until tomorrow because that’s when it’s on NFLN, but I had to see the Moore hit, so I youtubed it. BEAST. I love it. I couldn’t totally tell but it looked like he lead with the shoulder. He was nearly standing strait up upon impact. Hope he doesn’t get fined. BEAST!!!!
*hole
BTW, If you missed the game today ….

Wink wink nudge nudge. A wink is as good as a nod to a blind man. Know what I mean? Nudge nudge. Say no more. Nudge nudge. Say no more.
That was a monty python reference in case anyone missed it. Nudge nudge. say no more!
D looked great from the little I saw. They look like they actually know what they are doing which helps them. the less they have to think the harder they can attack so its good to see them playing fast again
That Moore hit was brutal. People said he should hit lower… hit the guy in the knees? He might of been hurt worse. It was the speed and the impact. Youtube link to it:
