Here we are in rainy Cincinnati, awaiting the first preseason game of the Broncos’ 2010 campaign.
It’s a bit of déjà vu, as this vantage point in the press box is exactly where we were watching Brandon Stokley’s Immaculate Deflection a little less than a year ago.
Speaking of Stokley, he’s already on the field warming up along with a handful of Broncos including Tim Tebow, Eddie Royal and D’Anthony Batiste.
The field is emptying out as the players stay out of the heavy rain for a few more minutes.
The Broncos are wearing their home blue jerseys, just like they did in the season opener last year in Cincinnati. The home team chooses which jerseys to wear, so apparently the Bengals enjoy wearing white.
5:50 p.m. EDT: Matt Prater, Britton Colquitt and Lonie Paxton are on the field working on field goals. Nathan Overbay is shadowing Paxton, apparently working as a backup long snapper. The three quarterbacks were next on the field, followed by returners — Syd’Quan Thompson, Cassius Vaughn, Alphonso Smith, Eddie Royal and Perrish Cox. A handful of young pass-catchers — Patrick Carter, Matthew Willis and Marquez Branson — are now catching passes from Tebow.
Royal just got a greeting from Bengals cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones, who trotted over to the third-year receiver.
6:05 p.m. EDT: The rain has passed and more position groups have made their way onto the field at Paul Brown Stadium. Receivers, running backs, tight ends and defensive backs are now running through drills.
6:12 p.m. EDT: The team just met for a huddle near the tunnel, and now the squad is running through warmups between the end zone and 25-yard line.
Below are a few pictures from the field, courtesy of Eric Detweiler.

6:16 p.m. EDT: Brian Dawkins, LenDale White, Knowshon Moreno, Correll Buckhalter, Spencer Larsen, D.J. Williams, Dustin Fry, Chris Kuper, Jamal Williams, Eric Decker, Demaryius Thomas, Elvis Dumervil and Jarvis Moss are not expected to play in tonight’s game. Williams, however, is in his jersey with the rest of the team, so there’s a possibility he’ll find the field. We’ll keep you updated.
For the Bengals, Antonio Bryant — who still hasn’t been assigned a jersey number — Maurice Purify, Brandon Ghee, Fui Vakapuna, Brian Leonard, Chris Crocker, Tom Nelson, Jonathan Luigs, Otis Hudson, Andre Smith and Robert Geathers aren’t expected to suit up.
6:30 p.m. EDT: Update — Jamal Williams is in fact expected to play tonight. Replace him with Darrell Reid in the list of players who will not suit up.
6:34 p.m. EDT: Both teams have left the field, and President and CEO Pat Bowlen is making his way back through the tunnel as well. With less than 30 minutes to go until kickoff, pregame ceremonies should be getting underway soon.
6:53 p.m. EDT: The Bengals cheerleaders — or Ben-gals — are lined up outside the Cincinnati tunnel. Look for the teams to make their way onto the field momentarily. Paxton, Prater and Colquitt are already on the field, as are their Bengals counterparts.
6:55 p.m. EDT: Here we go, the Broncos have made their way onto the field to a chorus of boos. The offensive starters are being announced. Russ Hochstein is set to play right guard, and Lance Ball will get the first-team reps at running back. Other than that, it’s the typical first-team lineup we’ve seen throughout training camp. The big screen had Zane Beadles listed at left tackle and D’Anthony Batiste at left guard, even though the two have typically lined up at guard and tackle, respectively. So we’ll see what the actual starting lineup is when the game kicks off in mere minutes.
6:59 p.m. EDT: The Bengals’ offense is being introduced, and the National Anthem is about to get started. We will have a live blog running throughout the game, so be sure to check out the First Half Live Blog, which will be posted in just a couple minutes.

GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just over an hour….
Are you ready for some football???????????? I can’t wait.
Go Royal and GO BRONCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How great is this? The game is on TV here in Las Vegas!!! I get to watch my beloved team on my big flat screen instead of searching around for a crummy feed on the computer. I’m looking forward to seeing KO the new and improved version and I think that is what I will see along with improved D line play,Jamal and Justin and the O line with Beadles and Walton I think Batiste will be good in relief.GO BRONCOS!!!
i’m gonna have to pray for no injuries
The game is on the NFL network, so many fans troughout the country will be able to watch it live, sorry UK and BA, it’s less than an hour away now and even after watching 35 seasons of NFL football, the first game of the season always brings a little goose bumps. We are here, no more obscure OTA’s and TC practices that we can only hear about or watch dreadful videos of some of it so we have to take others word for how we are looking. Now it’s my turn to find out what the talk has been all about, even so it’s just a preseason game, the pressure is mounting… Back in Cinci so quickly, that’s kind of weird, the immaculate deflection, well nothing like that to look forward to today because any miracle would go for naught, but at this point I don’t really care, JUST GIVE ME SOME DENVER BRONCOS!!!
I’ve currently got a good feed on the USPGA, so I’m hoping I’ll be able to do the same for the Broncos when we get to kickoff. Good luck all….
That’s a crap load of players not playing for us tonight:
Brian Dawkins, LenDale White, Knowshon Moreno, Correll Buckhalter, Spencer Larsen, D.J. Williams, Dustin Fry, Chris Kuper, Jamal Williams, Eric Decker, Demaryius Thomas, Elvis Dumervil and Jarvis Moss are not expected to play in tonight’s game.
Hopefully it doesn’t rain like it has, tougher to find out what you’ve got in the rain in my opinion.
WHHEEEhoowwooo!! 2011 the year of the Orton!!!
Jamal is playing and he is the keystone to our season.
Hey Bay;on the bright side those who do not suit up will PROBABLY not get hurt.
Good, it will be fun to see the big man in the middle for the first time.
broncobet, unless one of them slips in the locker room like Larsen last year, haha.
I wanna see what the first string D looks like even if it is just the 1st drive, and see what Beadles and Walton look like on the Oline, hopefully they’ll see plenty of playing time tonight.Tebow and Quinn look to play a lot too.I hope we see Cox light it up also.
Hard to asess the D with DJ,Dawk,Doom, and Moss not playing. At least we will be able to see what Ayers,Akoydele,Haggan,Kirlew, and Woodyard are going to play like at the LB spots.GO BRONCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WHOOPSOMEASS!!!!!
