Q3 15:00: Matt Prater opens the third quarter with a kickoff fielded by Ted Ginn at the goalline. Ginn is tackled by Kyle McCarthy at the 22-yard line.
Q3 14:00: Two carries by Frank Gore and the 49ers face a third-and-1 at the 32-yard line. Gore picks it up with a gain of two. First-and-ten at the 34-yard line and the 49ers call a timeout.
Q3 12:50: Quick first down by the 49ers and they have the ball at their 46-yard line. On first down, Gore takes it outside and cuts it back inside for a 5-yard gain. Second-and-five, D.J. Williams blows up the block attempt by Moran Norris and stops Gore for a two-yard loss. Third-and-seven and San Francisco calls another timeout. Their second on this drive.
Q3 11:01: Third-and-seven at the 49ers 49-yard line, Smith in the gun and Gore to his right, gives it to Gore but he is stopped by D.J. Williams and Jason Hunter for a 2-yard gain. 49ers to punt. Eddie Royal calls for a fair catch and the Broncos will start their first possession of the second half at their 11-yard line.
Q3 10:24: A short gain by Knowshon Moreno and a quick pass from Kyle Orton to Jabar Gaffney and the Broncos have a third-and-six. Orton sets the protection, alludes the rush and picks up the first down on his feet. Flag on the play, illegal contact on the defense. The penalty is added to the end of the run, first-and-ten at the 28-yard line.
Q3 8:45: On first down, Orton fakes the pitch and looks deep. He has Brandon Lloyd who is brought down at the 49ers 1-yard line. Tim Tebow in, takes the ball in the gun and scores a one-yard touchdown. Matt Prater is on for the extra point and it is good. Broncos take the lead.
BRONCOS 7, 49ERS 3; 8:08 Q3
Q3 8:08: Tonight’s attendance is announced as 83,941 and I think all of them were doing the wave just before the Broncos touchdown. Prater kicks off to Ginn who fields the ball at the 3-yard line, brings it to the 22-yard line where he is met by Joe Mays.
First down 49ers at their 22-yard line. Troy Smith drops to pass, is pressured and dumps the ball to Gore who picks up seven. Brian Westbrook spells Gore on second down and he picks up two. Third-and-1, Smith rolls and hits Josh Morgan for a first down and big gain. 30 yards on the pass and catch and the 49ers are on the Broncos side of the field.
Q3 4:23: After a short run by Gore and a three-yard scramble by Smith and it is third-and-6. Brian Dawkins puts the heat on Smith and the pass falls incomplete. Joe Nedney will come out to attempt a 52-yard field goal. No good. Broncos ball at their 42-yard line.
Q3 4:20: First down, pitch to Moreno who collides with Patrick Willis for a 2-yard gain. Play action on second down, but Lloyd can’t hang on to the short pass bringing up third-and-8. 49ers pressure Orton and he is hit hard but is able to get the pass off. Manny Lawson put his helmet right into Orton’s chest. Orton is slow to get up, but makes his way off the field. Colquitt is on to punt. He kicks it high and Ginn calls for the fair catch. Flag on the field, holding on the 49ers and that will push them back to the 6-yard line.
Q3 3:00: On first down, Gore pushes the pile for a short gain of two and then gets the ball to the 15 for third-and-one. Gore is stuffed on third down for no gain or maybe even a loss and out comes the 49ers punt unit. Royal weaves the way outside the 40-yard line.
First down at the Broncos 42-yard line with Orton in the game despite the big hit on the last series. Before the ball is snapped, Daniel Graham is flagged for a false start. First-and-15, play action and Orton hits Lloyd across mid-field. Gain of 25 on the reception. First-and-ten at the 49ers 35. Flea-flicker, Orton has Gaffney for the touchdown. But hold everything, Moreno is flagged for a chop block nullifying the TD. First-and-25 now, and Buckhalter takes the screen for an 8-yard gain. That will be the end of the third quarter. Broncos with the ball at the 49ers 45-yard line second-and-17.
Q4 15:00: Starting the final quarter of action in London. To say the Broncos bench was unhappy about the chop block call would be an understatement. Anyway, second down Orton hits Demaryius Thomas on the bubble screen and the rookie gets a 31-yard gain. First-and-10 at the 49ers 14.
Q4 14:22: Two incompletions and the Broncos are facing a third-and-10. Orton looks for Lloyd but it was over his head. Looks like Orton thought Lloyd was interfered with. Prater on for the field goal. The 33-yard attempt is good.
BRONCOS 10, 49ERS 3; 14:13 Q4
During the TV timeouts, the video boards are showing highlights of games around the NFL. Without question, the loudest applause comes when the Jaguars-Cowboys highlights are being played. Well based on the score, looks like the highlights are only coming from the Jags. But anyway, looks like the English crowd enjoys seeing the Cowboys getting beat.
Q4 14:00: Nice return by Ginn has the 49ers at the 44-yard line. Holding will push them back 10-yards. First-and-20, Smith looks but can’t connect with his tight end Walker bringing up second-and-20. Smith in the gun, rifles one to the tight end for a first down but there is a flag. Broncos had too many men on the field and the 27-yard completion stands.
First-and-10 at the Broncos 39. Smith is pressured and throws a jump ball that Walker comes down with at the 1-yard line. Brian Dawkins was on Walker and said he was pushed. First-and-goal, the give is to Gore who gets back to the line of scrimmage. Second-and-goal, Smith will keep it and score. Nedney’s extra point is good, and we have a tie game.
BRONCOS 10, 49ERS 10; 11:51 Q4
Q4 11:51: Thomas is back deep for the Broncos and takes the ball at the goal line, he manages to maneuver his way to the 20-yard line where the Broncos will take over.
First-and-10, and a false start on Chris Kuper pushes the offense back 5-yards. Orton hits Royal on the bubble screen and Royal picks up 10. Second-and-5, and Tebow is in. The rookie ducks his head but can only get back to the line of scrimmage. Third-and-5, Orton under center hits Moreno for no gain and the Broncos will be forced to punt.
Q4 9:45: Moreno was able to pick up 2-yard on the reception, but still not enough for the first down. Colquitt out to punt and he didn’t catch that cleanly and the ball takes an awful bounce for the Broncos. Finally the ball is downed at the Broncos’ 48. Only a 21-yard punt.
Q4 9:34: Not much room for Gore on first down as he picks up two yards. But on second down, Smith hits Michael Crabtree for 15 yards and a first down.
Smith drops back on first down and hits Crabtree, he avoids Goodman and walks in for the 28-yard touchdown. 49ers take the lead.
49ERS 17, BRONCOS 10; 7:23 Q4.
Q4 7:18: Short return by Thomas and the Broncos take over at the 18-yard line. Orton scrambles to avoid the rush and is stripped of the ball. 49ers recover the ball, and have it deep in Broncos territory. Manny Lawson forced the fumble and Takeo Spikes recovers.
Q4 6:32: Two plays and the 49ers have the ball at the Broncos 8-yard line, third-and-1. Gore picks up the first down and it is first-and-goal at the five. 3-yard gain by Gore and the 49ers bring in their heavy package for second-and-goal. They hand the ball to Norris, but he is stuffed by Joe Mays for a loss of one. Timeout Broncos.
Q4 3:53: Third-and-goal, and Gore fights and sneaks his way in the endzone. 49ers take a two score lead.
49ERS 24, BRONCOS 10; 3:47 Q4
Q4 3:53: First-and-10 and Orton hits Royal who looks like he has the first down. Broncos are in the hurry-up. Orton hits Gronkowski for another first down. Broncos have the ball at the 45, Orton hits Royal who gets the first down and gets out of bounds.
Q4 2:55: First down, Orton finds Lloyd down the sideline for a big gain. 49ers throw out the red flag saying Lloyd wasn’t inbounds when he made the catch. Referee Scott Green confirms the ruling on the field of a catch good for 29 yards.
Broncos at the 49ers 15-yard line, are called for a false start by Gronkowski pushing them back to the 20. Orton finds Gaffney, who reaches for the goal line but is just short. The Broncos hurry to the line, but there is an injured 49er.
Q4 2:29: Orton on first-and-goal hits Brandon Lloyd for the touchdown. Extra point is blocked and no good. Broncos down by eight.
49ERS 24 – BRONCOS 16; 2:19 Q4
Q4 2:14: Broncos choose to kickoff rather than on onside kick with the two-minute warning and two timeouts left. 49ers start at their 13-yard line. Four yards on first down and maybe two on second down and the 49ers have third-and-4 after the two-minute warning.
Q4 2:00: Third-and-4, the Broncos stop Dixon short of the first down and call their final timeout. Eddie Royal is deep for the punt of Andy Lee.
Q4 1:54: Eddie Royal takes the punt for a touchdown but it will be coming back as Jarvis Moss will be flagged for an illegal block in the back. Broncos ball at the 19-yard line. Almost 20 seconds elapsed with the penalty.
Orton hits Gronkowski on first down and then is sacked on second down, but looks like he was taken down by the helmet again. Indeed, 15-yard penalty and a first down.
Q4 1:09: Ball at the 36-yard line, Orton looks for Lloyd down the field and a nice play by Lloyd to knock the ball away from the defender. Second-and-10, Orton hits Lloyd across midfield.
First-and-10 at the 49ers 45-yard line and Orton spikes the ball to stop the clock with 0:45 left in the game. Second down, Orton in the gun with Gronkowski and Buckhalter in the backfield. Orton looks for Gaffney but Gaffney keeps running and the ball is picked. 49ers take over and will run out the clock for the victory.
Broncos fall to 2-6 and will travel back to Colorado tomorrow morning and will have a bye next week.
- Kyle Sonneman

yes beast. haha. those two are just tearing it up arent they.
well last year the 6-0 start was a fluke. reality is settling in now 2-6 going into the bye. this is what everybody was waiting for last year a terrible broncos team. and i am ashamed to admit it but they were right. i lost hope after today and also thinking of a good 1st round draft pick for next year, if there is a next year which makes it even sadder. the only thing that i look forward for is seeing Tebow starting his first game.
All Three Phases Again U Stink i hope the attendies at the next home game bring there brown paper bags to cover there heads.
when your season is a lost. you have to look forward to something. and these denver fans are looking forward to Tebow starting. he is a winner the future of this franchise and a great competitor. let me see someone who brings all of this to a team who needs it more than anything. sounds like a plan to me. anything can happen.
wiemin – i think we are all frustrated. I agree with alot of what you said. A lot of people are saying it is orton that keeps stopping our drives, but I keep seeing mcd call in running plays on 1st and second downs and leaving orton with long yardage on 3rd. It is a rough way to drive the field.
I would like to see Tebow, but like i said, just for entertainment purposes and experience. I dont think orton is the problem. I do think though that if Tebow plays, mcd will just call even dumber plays and never let tebow actually play like he can
fans pay alot of money to go to the games and alot have to get the nfl ticket, what a ripoff
Not saying that QBs have to go after bad snaps all the time, just saying that if things arent perfect for Orton, he doesnt get the job done. He is no leader and will NEVER lead this team out of the doldrums we r in, now or EVER.
Just the facts. And WCA is correct- we started 1st and 15 or 1st and 20 way too amny times today. They arent good enough to start from behind. But you dont get STUPID with the ball like Orton did around our 20 today after they scored the go ahead TD-running lke a scared little girl and holding the ball out for anyone to swipe it away. If your not a runner-throw the ball, wither out of bounds or to a receivers feet. But dont give them the dang ball at our 20!!!!
agreed older. you cant let the fans coach, but mcd actually seems to try and piss them off.
I agree smith, the fumble was stupid and all him. The snap was not him. he didnt snap it bad. even if he ran and picked it up, what chance is there he turns around and immediately finds someone to launch the ball down to. Just place the blame where it belongs is all. the fumble today was dumb and all him
1st time poster here….Denvers poor play has caused me to want to post my opinion.
I wanted to back McD, but being 4-14 in 18 games is a cause for him to go. Problem is Bowen still owes Shannahan and will not end up having to pay 3 coaches till MCD and Shannahans contracts expire.
I also believe that it is time to hand the reigns to Tim Tebow. We cant do any worse. Im not saying its all Ortons fault, but when you are the QB, you have to lead your team. If you win, you get the glory, if you loose, you get the blame. We are not going ANYWHERE…we are bad….let TEBOW, play. While we are at it, replace Gaffney with Thomas and let Decker play more….Give our future youth some play time.
Unfortunatly McD is too stuborn to put Tebow in, or even let him THROW. Many analysts think TT isnt ready…maybe he aint, but what do we got to loose…the kids a winner, give him at least a chance to try with his athletic ability.
Broncos, I have LOSTHOPE in you. you have let me down time and again under McD. Bowlen, time for a new coach (Tony Dungy supports Tebow) and time for average Orton to take a seat.
Thanks for listening.
Couldnt agree more social-we all look forward to our team all week to play ball. And thos is the kind of football we get? At least give us something to look forward to now that the year is gone….Getting to watch Tebow play ball is the only thing that is worth watching with this team anymore!!! Unless you like being frustrated all the time?
Let’s all face the facts: Really, when you get a young coaching team, and a bunch of young players, they’re not going to think about anything but…that’s right, “MONEY”. None of these players-with the exception of selected few, (Tebow, Dawkins, Royal, Bailey)-even care about football and the fans; all they care about is making the most money they can in as short amount of time possible. I’m kinda wishing I could try out at this point, because maybe someone with a simple life could bring some heart to the team again. Well, until then I’ll be cheering for our FUTURE team of Broncos, because we just don’t have a team right now…
What we want and what we are going to get are 2 different things. We will be extremely lucky if we get to see TT start a game, heck, even throw a ball when he is in to play!!!
you summed it up well losthope. I agree, it is pretty lost. McD cant be fired right now probably realistically and mcd is stubborn and will never let the fans prod him into choices. he makes sure everyone knows he makes every decision and has control. The problem with that is, when you are the worst team in football, everyone knows where to place the blame.
This week will be better though, no frustration, no anger, no expectation-WE DONT PLAY!!
BRONCOS 16
49ERS 24
YET another not so fun score prediction contest, how can any Bronco fan take a big consolation in their team losing? Anyhow that’s what we got once again, a 2-6 record will do that to you, so let’s give kudos where it is due:
1st place:
Bitterrooter 16-31, only 7 points off and had the Bronco score correct, definitely king of the guessing game for the week even so there is not much glamour to be had in a loss.
2nd place:
Olap2009 10-28, 10 points off and the only other guy who picked us to lose this week, too bad your Redskins lost this week also, it would of made a perfect day for you, LOL.
And we have a three way tie for 3rd place, taking the guys who had us winning by the slimmest of margin, just one point:
denver0723 21-20
strandoftds 17-16
baylinorcrush 14-13
Of course somebody always ends up on the Wall of Shame, and today was no exception:
Yovi21 42-17, had us winning by 25 points and had absolutely no respect for the Niners D whatsoever and is very deserving of this dubious award this week, LOL.
REMEMBER: NO PICKS THIS COMING WEEK, PICKS FOR THE KC GAME WILL START NOV. 8th. I deserve a break too, haha.
smith – hahaha. that is something we can agree on 100%. it is sad, but very true.
REFEREE MISTAKE!!!!!
Did anyone else notice that San Fran got TWO third downs on their last TD drive by the endzone? For those that recorded the game, go back and look. San Fran got 1st and goal, 2nd and goal, 3rd and goal and another 3rd and goal (from the 4) and scored a TD to go to 24 points. They clearly would have kicked a FG if it has been marked 4th and goal and that would have changed the complexion of the game.
You must be joking, I wasn’t that drunk…
Check it out baylinorcrush. Apparently a lot of people were drunk. I have watched it three times. It is true.
dfarry – how are you basing this though? Because the network put third down on the screen? Or because the refs like announced 3rd and goal? It could be the network screwed up and put 3rd down on the screen, but that doesnt mean that the players and coaches didnt know what down it was.
I watched the series of plays – go check it out. They got 3 downs then another third down. I’m telling you it wasn’t a network screw up. They had 4 tries at a TD and the last one was labeled 3rd down. Not sure how it happened (likely refs not moving the down marker) but it happened.
Kc won chargers and raiders are winning guess we know where that leaves the broncos who would’ve thought
Is that true they got 4 downs? I remember watchin and thinking it should be 4th down but I just assumed I missed a penalty somewhere.
Ya know, I would try to be positive and support Josh McD, but he seems to make poor choice after poor choice. I would love to see a experienced head coach (Gruden, Dungy, Cowher) but realistically it isnt going to happen. I think Bowlen may be struggeling financially and wants to just get bu without placing large investment into the team. Maybe i’m wrong and he will surprise us all. He USE TO be one of the best owners.
I’m not sure Tim Tebow is the answer..but heck, what do we have to loose..at least it gives the fans hope…give the kid a chance to actually throw the ball and see what we got. Everyone remember John Elways early years? He had his ups and downs, but he sure was exciting to watch..I think he single handedly carried the team to their first 3 superbowls, even if he lost them, he was exciting. I see the same in Tebows toughness and winning mentality. It may be too much to ask of him, but this season isnt going anywhere. Josh is to stubborn though. Patriot way doesnt work everywhere..Time for some changes.
While we are at it, “Wink” calls some poor defense.
The Bronos are playing without HEARt, we need to find our HEART and intensity.
It’s true AceII. Spread the word because nobody has picked up on it yet!!
i figured they just went for it on 4th down?
This is the drive you are referring to in the fourth quarter that got the game to 24-10:
San Francisco 49ers at 7:07
1-10-DEN 18 (7:07) T.Smith pass short right to Del.Walker to DEN 14 for 4 yards (C.Bailey).
2-6-DEN 14 (6:25) F.Gore right guard to DEN 9 for 5 yards (M.Haggan).
3-1-DEN 9 (5:38) F.Gore right guard to DEN 5 for 4 yards (M.Haggan). R15
1-5-DEN 5 (4:56) F.Gore left guard to DEN 2 for 3 yards (R.Fields).
2-2-DEN 2 (4:16) SF #68 Snyder reports eligible M.Norris left guard to DEN 3 for -1 yards (J.Hunter).
Timeout #1 by DEN at 03:53.
3-3-DEN 3 (3:52) SF #68 Snyder reports eligible F.Gore right guard for 3 yards, TOUCHDOWN. R16
J.Nedney extra point is GOOD, Center-B.Jennings, Holder-A.Lee.
DEN 10 SF 24, 6 plays, 18 yards, 3:20 drive, 11:13 elapsed
I like drinking but maybe I handle it better that you do, LOL.
And if that was the case, Mcd is would be a bigger bust for HC than I thought in the first place, haha.
KC leading the AFC west!!!! How pathetic our division has become. Give it to them though, they knew who to hire, and how to put a team together. Congrats to them.
You better believe it, they started with a proven GM in Pioli and went from there, we went with a couple young studs in Xanders and McD with no experience whatsoever, what’s the big surprise here?
2-6 is about right, 4-14 is a little harsh to swallow though, how long do we have to exactly keep on losing before Bowlen catches on?
Probably just the fact that they are the ones who did it and not the Broncos. I personally think that is because Bowlen has lost touch with his team, and may be listening to money heads and not football heads. Heard he was doing poorly, but never thought he would let this team get as bad as it has gotten.
He once was one of the best owners in football, now his team is lost and he is too. And so are we…in the basement of the afc west.
Because tell me the fans are catching on, right?
And are the 2nd worse team in football today!! HAPPY HALLOWEEN…..its scary isnt it….
So I guess we are done with the argument that the refs may have cost us this game? dfarry? Anyone?
How can they help but not catch on…but what good does it do. We cant change anything! All we can do is moan and groan about the state our team is in….No amount of griping is going to change anything….Certainly not Josh
Refs didnt lose this game, the D and Orton lost this game….I dont think it was playcalling today….Like was said earlier…QB gets all the credit for winning, and all the credit for losing….He didnt do what he had to do to move the team and score…
The writing was on the wall last year with the late season collapse when players like Scheffler and Marshall could give a crap to compete for this team, only the kool aid drinking has kept many of you fans hopes alive, I personally have been questioning this regime for a long time now, so no big surprise here, just where I thought we would be, sorry you guys are getting it only now, I remember how much it hurt way back then when I realized we were on the train to nowhere.
Why no postgame? Josh not wanting to talk about losing anymore? Or tired of using the same old cliches he has been using since he got here?
To make Orton a scape goat is ludicrous, this was a total team effort, players to coaches, both sides of the ball, we are hurting way more than at just one position, just put Tebow in and see what happens, it will be worse, we are miles away from having a team that can compete ANYWHERE, period.
Are you seriously interested in what he has to say?
I dont agree with saying that this team is bad because he got rid of scheff or cutler or marshall…They were doing nothing under shanahan with these players. So to lay it all on Josh for these players as to why we are losing is wrong…Last i chkd we were 8-8 with these so called great players..Josh may not be the answer for this team at the HC position, but dont say its because he got rid of certain players as to the reason why…..
I saw the game that’s all I need to know, we are not good enough to beat a 1-6 team, that pretty much says it all. Whatever B.S. he will sugarcoat it with doesn’t really sit well with me, do it on the field, walk the walk, so tired of a HC who can only talk the talk…
Only two players had a good game. Orton and lloyd.
Champ was champ. Dawkins provided some life. Clady is still great.
The rest of them should be taken out and shot.
Oh, i do agree that it wasnt just Orton….The TEAM lost today…agreed. And we r lightyears away from being in contention for anything. But i for one would rather see Tebow bring some life to this team than to continue to watch Orton and his sissy ways of playing football….And yes, i do think it would be interesting to see what he has to say? Just to see if he can come up with something original!
I’m saying these talented players didn’t want to play for him, and that permeates throughout the locker room, that’s the problem, not those specific guys not being there, just the fact that McD can’t hold on to his players because he is no HC material.
Clady is good, even though he is still recovering. Goodman look like day old toast. Dawkins and Bailey gave up the long play to tie the game…enough said. And Orton gave up the ball in a very bad place…especially after the D just gave up the go ahead TD…O-line cant quit geting in their own way…Lloyd is as good as it gets on this team…man plays with heart…
So, what are we all going to do now, just sit here and have faith?
I agree with several of the other posters. Orton is not a bad quarterback but he certainly is not a leader and is incapable of inspiring the team. He just doesn’t have the drive or athleticism – sliding into a 4th down when he could have gotten the 1st is just one example. Put TEBOW, a proven winner, in to lead this team through the rest of this year and into the future. This team (and the fans) desperately needs some inspiration and a spark.
