The NFL Kickoff game Thursday night created a huge buzz both around Sports Authority Field at Mile High and on social media platforms.
The television audience was more than 25 million, making the Broncos-Ravens opener the third-most watched opener since the NFL started playing them on Thursday nights in 2002.
NBC also streamed the game live online where fans watched 20.5 million minutes of action.
That number nearly doubled the regular season record of 10.6 million minutes.
Fans were not only watching online, but talking about the game online as well as 1.4 million Tweets were sent about the game with more than 15,000 coming in per minute when Peyton Manning threw his fifth touchdown pass.
Other most-Tweeted about moments included Wes Welkers muffed punt return and Manning’s final two touchdowns. Consequently, the top-three, most-Tweeted about players were Peyton Manning, Wes Welker and Ray Rice – in that order.
More than 24,000 Tweets mentioned @DenverBroncos while more than 29,000 mentioned @Ravens.
