Broncos Among Top Pro Bowl Vote Getters

November 18th, 2011 - 3:16pm by Kenny Legan

With the season just passing the halfway mark, several Broncos are in the hunt for Pro Bowl bids, according to the fan-vote figures that the NFL released this week. Fan voting has been open since Oct. 25th and will end on Dec. 19 at the conclusion of the Monday Night Football matchup between the Steelers and 49ers.

Punter Britton Colquitt, safety Brian Dawkins, linebacker Von Miller and quarterback Tim Tebow are amongst the top-five vote getters in the AFC for their respective positions.

Tebow has led the Broncos to a 4-1 record since taking over as a starter this season, while Miller leads all rookies with eight sacks on the season. For his success, Miller was recently named Sports Illustrated’s midseason defensive rookie of the year.

Like Tebow and Miller, this would be Colquitt’s first Pro Bowl if elected, and he’s making a strong case for himself. Entering Week 11, the third-year punter out of Tennessee was one of only three NFL players to rank in the top-five in both gross and net punting average through nine games.

If the quartet is selected, Dawkins can show them the ropes. The 16th-year player has been to eight Pro Bowls and is in contention for his ninth, which would tie him with former Broncos safety John Lynch for second all-time in the NFL for Pro Bowl selections as a safety.

Click here to cast your votes for the Pro Bowl.

The teams will be announced at 5 p.m. MST on a special NFL Total Access 2012 Pro Bowl Selection Show on NFL Network.

The game will be played on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012.

Does it cure the problem (cold) or just make you not aware of the fact that the elements are trying to kill you? LOL

  2. samurai713 says:

I hope all three lose, and we can beat the Chargers next week, that would put us in first place!

  3. canadasbroncfan says:

anyone else going to the broncs-vikes game section 102 row 17 got me a 1994 75th ann elway orange to wear. Wife is wearing 1997 nike elway and buddys wife wearing orange bailey. Might need some backup in the beer line

  4. daddybronc says:

If all 3 lose, we would already in first place – tied with OAK.

  5. daddybronc says:

Only a half game out of first right now – ahead of KC and SD!!! that felt nice to write!

  6. alexanserg says:

Not trying to get all ridiculous here, so this is all I will say. In fact my better self is saying to delete this post now. But…

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world,[b] that he gave his only Son” etc

Hmm … ‘only son.’ Sounds extreme. But wait a minute! God is supposed to be ALL POWERFUL. He can knock up girls without even getting close them.

So, if god only had one son, it wasn’t through hardship or misfortune.

My point, The bible was actually written by Arabs some 3,000 years ago. For their primitive culture and technology, it was a big deal to sacrifice an only son.

But if you imagine that their is an actual all powerful god, the idea that he had only one son loses all meaning. He coulda had multitudes of sons at his whim. He could entirely populate the world with jesuses. Such is the meaning of All powerful.

That is a weak example of the ridiculousness of the bible. So I leave you with:

    Deuteronomy 23

23:1 He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD.

23:2 A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the LORD.

(23:3, 6) “An Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to their tenth generation.”

P.S. apparently after the 11th generation you are in the clear.

it cures the problem of how cold it is and watching, mostly bad football. But its all i got live. Its just funny watching, mostly the american players, some who have never seen snow, deal with the conditions.

  8. daddybronc says:

Canada – I lived in Denver for 8 years so I have a minor understanding of what you mean. I was laughing at Californians in CO.

Alex – I would love to help you understand all of that because the Bible does make perfectly reasonable sense – but not here! The tone of your note didn’t sound as though you were serious about anything except being angry – so I’ll leave it at let’s agree to enjoy the success of the Broncos.

For other Christians tempted to respond I would remind you – Rom. 10:17 Faith comes by hearing, and hearing the Word of God.

You can’t blog / argue folks into faith.

Alex – I apologize for whatever I wrote that set you off – OTOH – Like Tebow, I can’t really hide it even if I wanted to.

  9. baylinorcrush says:

Sure glad I just watched a movie instead….

  10. canadasbroncfan says:

Being a fan that reads the blog daily but dosent respond to much because most of the blogs make sense to what makes the broncs go or not go. The one thing im seeing though is about the draft next year. Most of the bloggers are saying that we need to draft for the defence. We dont need to draft for the defence. They are preaty good. With the right coaching,a good offseason, lots of work, we might be set at qb. What we need is a stud wr ala AJ GREEN. We all watch the highlites when Stfford heaves it into the endzone and CJ always comes down with it. Same with Green,Bryant,Fitz. Those guys mke their QB look really good with some medicore passes. Justin Blackmon plays in orange and would look good in orange and blue

canadasbroncfan i am going to the broncos dikes game. sec 231 row 3 seat 15 & 16. If my Miller jersey gets to me in time i will wear it if not I think Champ. I have that Elway jersey too but i don’t think i will wear it there. too many drunk dike fans might spill beer on it.

  12. denver0723 says:

    canadasbroncfan,

Heck yeah! I will be at the game as well! Parents of one of my students hooked me and my fiance up with tickets! I don’t know the section yet, but I will be there. Got a blue Tebow jersey, and my fiance will be wearing whatever she think looks good that day lol. Would be honored to back you up in the beer line. Us Bronco fans need to stick together.

  13. canadasbroncfan says:

I also got a white cutler hanging in my closet. Love the white jerseys. Might bring it, see if i can get a hotdog for it lol

  14. MetalGoodCutlerStupid says:

uummmm… i know tebows christian, but were not gonna have to deal with people like alex flooding the broncos blog are we?? EGADS!

… and i didnt get your point. call me stupid.

  15. tnalen66 says:

i been to 4 games in MN and there are usually alot the Bronco Fans there. One year it was about 40% Bronco fans. The last time one guy in the piss line said S### its almost like a division game with all the Bronco fans here.
Champ should be in the top 5 for corners in the pro bowl voting. He had another good game on thurs nite.

  16. MetalGoodCutlerStupid says:

i got a cutler jersey too… cept i ironed on a choice word above his name. so now my jersey reads F**K CUTLER…

  17. tnalen66 says:

blue Champ or orange Champ? If i go Champ.

  18. daddybronc says:

Canada – watch the DT’s – fill that hole and I think the Broncos defense jumps to a top ten defense. The other defensive holes are Champ and Dawk – because of their ages, the Broncos have to consider replacing them. I think Champ gets moved before he’s out but I would be surprised if Dawk comes back for another season.

I too think that the Broncos have serious problems at WR and I think other than wanna-be stud rookies, the Broncos are going to have a difficult time signing great WR. I’m thinking the Broncs cut back on WR and invest in TE’s and running backs that can catch. All of that presents interesting delimma’s going into the future.

  19. tnalen66 says:

Maybe i should wear my white Royal jersey.

  20. canadasbroncfan says:

Its a 300 game. Ill give the vikes one thing, they know how to throw a party. They close downtown streets 5 hours before and set up a hugh tailgate in front of the dome. Dosent matter how cold. Bronc fans should meet on the west side of the dome[closer to hotel] and show them what nice jerseys look like. That and start talking trash. Its ok there because they are so close to Canada our niceness rubs off

  21. tnalen66 says:

If we get an early lead you will hear a big bang. It will be the Dike fans jumping off their wagon.

  22. daddybronc says:

I don’t wanna think about the Vikes game yet – I’m cheering them tomorrow!!

  23. canadasbroncfan says:

With are record at the end of the year, maybe 8-8[hoping for 9-7] that would be picking 10 to 15 in draft, maybe. Is there a dt in college there at that pick. Im just saying that with Tebow as our qb, we need a down field weapon to move people back every play. DTs come up in free agency every year, we just need to be smarter in that. I hear you though with the TEs. Every good offence has a great one and if we could draft one that would be great, or do we have one already…its hard to tell. Id responed faster but im mezmorized by the presidents cup lol

  24. daddybronc says:

No worries – I’m watching two movies and trying to keep the heating pad from burning the skin off my back. I have an active home.

Our free agency DT’s haven’t worked out so well – we need an exceptional DT.

WR aren’t going to want to sign on a Tebow team with the way he is being portrayed by talking heads. I think we will lose the WR we have as their contracts expire. It’ll be a dilemma.

  25. canadasbroncfan says:

you be amazed what money will do. That and people will want to play in Denver again. We got something going on here. Also we lose Ortons salary so spend, spend, spend

  26. NOTHINGSAFE91 says:

canadasbroncfan: If we are in position to get him, i hope we pick up Devon Still (DT, Penn State). He is a beast in the passing game and he is a good run stuffer. He also reminds me of Elvis in the fact that he never gives up on a play. Either him, or the best CB available.

  27. canadasbroncfan says:

not much of a college guy is he the best out there

  28. NOTHINGSAFE91 says:

I think so. I think he’ll be just as good as Suh. Just without people saying he’s dirty. He’s a disruptive player.

  29. canadasbroncfan says:

as good as SUH!!! Sign him up

  30. daddybronc says:

One thing I’m getting more comfortable with that I surely am surprised about – I like Denver’s O-Line – not saying there aren’t improvements that could be made – but WOW what a difference!

I wonder – I would love to read an experienced lineman evaluation. In the run game the O line pushes forward as opposed to the pass where the O line backs into the pocket formation. How much does this change really affect what our line looks like? How much does it affect how tired the line gets?

  31. NOTHINGSAFE91 says:

I see us picking up at least 2 OL in the draft. The starters are good, but our backups are terrible. No depth at OL whatsoever. OL, CB, DL, and RB are crucial this year. Besides Champ, we don’t really have a good CB to play on the outside (Yeah, Goodman had a pick 6 but he hasn’t played well). DL, i love our DT’s right now, i hope we make it a priority to resign Bunk, McBean and Thomas, although i won’t be too sad if Thomas goes. RB, McGahee is good, but i don’t know how long he can hold up, and i think Knowshon will be gone after this year. That leaves us with Ball and JJ. 3 pretty slow RB’s. Trent Richardson would be nice if we can get him.

  32. canadasbroncfan says:

good question DB speacilly the pulling guards. Maybe Tebow says once in a while “rest up ill take this play” kinda looks like it once in a while lol

  33. daddybronc says:

    LOL

  34. canadasbroncfan says:

anyone watch Baylor kill Okl. with the option. Just wondering

  35. daddybronc says:

Nope didn’t see it and I couldn’t get any highlights yet.

  36. risky305 says:

Seriously Bronc fans, I really think we should sign T.O. we need a Vet that can block and T.O. fits the mold we need at WR

  37. risky305 says:

    and catch

  38. canadasbroncfan says:

u saying i get more us college on tv in canada than where u live. WOW. Robert G. the thrid looks like someone i seen in college before

  39. daddybronc says:

Like they are saying – Tebow is playing college ball!

I wonder – when was the last time a pro team was strictly a running team?

I read Terry Bradshaw’s book ‘No Easy Game’ when I was a kid and one of the theme’s of the book was that the NFL was not really prepared for a pure passer. TB felt like he was one of the QB’s that transitioned the game. OK – so I get it – the NFL has become a passing league, and when passing QB’s came around – they won. I get that. What I’m not certain of is that a running QB can’t succeed in the NFL. The ‘talking heads’ keep saying it. Then they laugh when they point out that Tebow is doing it. But what says a modern QB has to pass. The results indicate to me that the running QB is not nearly as easy to shut down as some think. Looked to me that Tebow was talking a significant number of options at his disposal, and that he has been able to dissect the nuances to the run game and …he’s demonstrated that he can run against good defenses. I’d love to know?!!!

  40. daddybronc says:

I could have watched the game while it was on but reruns are dependent on who posts them. One of the schools may.

  41. daddybronc says:

305 – TO drops a lot of passes – we don’t need another one of those.

TO has always brought chaos to locker rooms – we don’t need that.

TO is a injury bust to more than one team already – Broncs definitely don’t need anymore of those.

TO is old – ok so I won’t hold that against him! LOL!!!

  42. risky305 says:

He’s old and he just wants to play football, maybe he’s done causing chaos and Dawk and Champ can keep em in line if needed…and he’s got better hands than any of our WR and his work ethic would be a positive for us…when you get old and ppl stop wanting to sign you, you tend to keep your mouth closed for the team that does.

  43. daddybronc says:

He’s too ‘risky’ – no offense intended. LOL

  44. risky305 says:

lol hey I’ve never like him either, but the old man can still ball, you have to admit that, just for a short term…whatever it takes to win right, well lets get him because he really can give us a better chance to win..I understand its risky, but hey so is running the option in the NFL, but were making it work..
    GO BRONCOS!!!

  45. canadasbroncfan says:

Someone said in the blog awile ago that Tebow is a running back playing qb. While that is a valid point. Problem everbody has that he was successful in college, maybe the best player ever. Comes to the nfl[should not been a first round guy],squeaky clean, and full of piss and vinegar, says all the right things, gets a chance to play in his rookie season, and shows people something. Knocked down to third string??,dosent bitch, andis still full of piss and vinegar. Gets a chance and once again shows people something.Until some defence in the leauge shows that they can stop his running,he will be sucessful. The LEAUGE has never see anything like the guy. How many QBs has this leauge seen take a snap wait for the blocking to set in and pick the right gap to go. Then run threw lbs arms for a good gain. He will get better at passing the ball. 66% in the SEC wasnt done by a fluke. Its amazing how many people rag on the guy. Us bronco bloggers love the guy because we got something to talk about. If he wasnt here on our. team we would still talk about him. By the way u yankees won the presidants cup way to go

  46. daddybronc says:

Give him ten dollars an hour and a swift kick if he steps outta line. But you are right – if anybody could get him in line in would be Dawk and Champ.

  47. risky305 says:

in the next two years we need to win a SB for Champ and Dawk, T.O. betta get wit it and hop on the Tebow train….

  48. daddybronc says:

Sorry – that reference was to TO not in response to Canada

  49. sndvl says:

Tiger won his match to give us our 4th straight!!!

  50. daddybronc says:

Those AFC east games will sort of tell us how long it will be before the Broncs are ready to make a playoff run. As long as the whole team is still sayin, “watch this” as Tebow goes into Tebow mode. I think it will be sooner than later.
