The Broncos rolled to a 34-14 victory against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday night at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
After jumping out to an early 7-0 lead with a Willis McGahee touchdown run, the Saints responded to tie the game just four plays later.
But from there, it was all Denver. The Broncos scored the next 27 points and shut out the Saints until near the two-minute mark in the fourth quarter.
Offensively, Denver was propelled by a trio of outstanding performances.
Quarterback Peyton Manning threw for 305 yards and three touchdowns on 22-of-30 passing.
McGahee topped the 100-yard mark for the third time this year, averaging 5.3 yards per carry en route to a 122-yard day that included a touchdown in the first quarter. McGahee totaled 155 all-purpose yards on the night.
Wide receiver Demaryius Thomas finished with 137 yards receiving on seven catches, both game highs. Thomas also caught a touchdown pass.
The Broncos outgained the Saints 530 to 253.

A lot of players put up huge numbers but I want to call out Virgil Green. He was a stud tonight.
well. wow. like alot of us said, give it between 6 & 8 games and let it all come together and we would get, well, THIS!!!! its unreal to see it all come into place like i knew it would and its much better seeing it than picturing it. all of the doubters (well, like 3 of em) just spewed what most of us knew was nonsense about mannings neck and manning being washed up, way overpaid, out for too long to ever come back and play well, and all that bull but now we see the reality of the manning aquisition. we also see the moves elway made panning out all over the place and things are looking really good for the future of the broncos franchise. i’m sure some more will come on here and ‘doubt’ away but its to the point now that those peoples comments of such idiocy should be outright ignored. they are either insane or just trying to get people going and neither commands a response. now for the rest of us its FULL STEAM AHEAD WITH PLAN A!! BRONCOS SUPER BOWL CONTENDERS 2012!!!!!!!!!!
Whats up LBF?! Lon time no see bro.
RH709 I was one of them calling for Carter. Boy he sure did prove me wrong.
As for my performer for the game I gotta say Hillman. He was very good all game long.
Our D was dominate despite a pass rush through the whole game.
hey alaskan it has been awhile. i still cannot get away from work for 2 seconds here lately things are still going strong. getting lots of work pouring in and while its tiring i cant complain. i liked hillmans play tonight too but he just looks so small i dont ever see him handling a full load. i see him as a sproles type, maybe a little more durable and can handle a little more plays, but thats okay as long as he plays well and compliments a big back like mcgahee as he did tonight. carter has come from nowhere i gotta say i guess it took the right d coordinator to get him in the right spots. if this d comes together strong and this o keeps going up and up then we are in for some dang good football in the near future and i cant wait. i see us deep in the playoffs-easy. we’ll just have to see but i sure believe it!! i’m out guys see ya soon i hope!
Peace out LBF good to hear from you even if its every once in a while.
I see much in the same in Hillman.
What a performance!
Especially from our D. Dominate. Outside a slippery Sproles (he seems to always do that against us) and a garbage TD. As far as not getting too much pressure, that’s tough when the QB is getting the ball out in .3
We got off the field on 3rd down and I can’t remember ever seeing Brees or the crowd yell
In-Com-Plete so many times!
As for incompletions 22/30 for PFM and if plan A means a 73% completion percentage, Oh Yeah…
Broncos Country Strong 2012!!!!
sndvl I know Brees was getting the ball out quick. I didnt think our D could be that dominate without a pass rush.
All year though teams have been getting the ball out quick for the most part but we sure have stepped up our coverage to help with that.
WOW WOW WOW! Our D SHOCKED me! I just knew we would struggle against Brees and that offense. They proved me wrong and did a great job. Tony Carter…. I see why the coaches kept you. Chris Harris…… Stud!! We will be even better once Porter heals up!! Great statement victory and it was at home!! Defend Home and they did tonight!!
I was very impressed with Kuper tonight. Several times I saw him pushing two players up the field. Our team played well in all phases. Our punt returns were exciting as well.
GO BRONCOS!!!
RH709 Virgil’s emergence in this game was a big suprise. Wesley Woodyard and Danny Trevathan impressed me tonight too. They basically took Jimmy Graham out…period. I’m a little puzzled with the punt return situation. Alaskan…the D was that good because we covered down field and left the pass rush up to 3 and 4 rushers. Our coverage downfield was fantastic. There were many times when we had 3 down linemen and Von…the rest were in coverage. Drew Breez could not find anyone open because of that. Outstanding IMO!!! Tony Carter and Chris Harris are starting to ‘get it’.
I don’t know about most of you but the DJ Williams situation makes me think that the Broncos may try to trade him. Woodyard and Trevathan have the Will LB spot covered I think. We need a DT or Mike backer to solidify things. Trevathan may even be able to move inside. He has great instincts and nose for the ball.
wolfedom…so nice to see Kuper playing tonight…he is BACK!!!
do yall think the broncos might make a trade before the deadline?
I just loved getting on PFT and NFL and hearing nothing but crickets from the Saints fans. People figured we’d have a good time against their weak defense but everyone was saying we had to because “you can’t stop that high powered offense”. But you did D, all of you. I think that their last scoring drive was offered up as pity points so Brees wouldn’t demand an explanation. Rock ‘em Broncos!
lbf, the ones who said the Manning acquisition was a bad one are like the ones who said RG3 would be a bust, LOL.
We have very quietly but consistently been b uilding depth the last tow years. It is paying off.
