Broncos Add Fullback Pinnock

November 26th, 2008 - 11:20am by Adam Zinser

Now Spencer Larsen has a little company at fullback and may not have to start both ways.

The Broncos have signed free agent fullback Andrew Pinnock, Head Coach Mike Shanahan has announced.

Pinnock joins the Broncos in his sixth year in the league after spending his first five with the Chargers. The 5-foot-10, 250-pounder was selected by the Chargers in the seventh round of the 2003 NFL Draft from the University of South Carolina.

He has played in 42 career games with three starts, totaling 18 rushes for 56 yards and four receptions for 31 yards. His three starts came last year as he saw action in 10 games. In 2005, he played in 12 games, and he saw action in all 16 contests as a rookie.

The team also signed wide receiver Jayson Foster to the practice squad, and he will wear No. 13.

Foster is an undrafted rookie out of Georgia Southern University who entered the NFL with the Dolphins as a college free agent on May 1. Miami released him on September 2, and he then was signed to the Steelers’ practice squad on October 14. Pittsburgh released him on November 6.

At Georgia Southern, Foster played his freshman and junior years at wide receiver, but he played at quarterback as a sophomore and senior. During his senior campaign, he threw for 1,203 yards and 15 touchdowns while also rushing for 1,844 yards and 24 scores. That performance earned him the Walter Payton Award for the best player in the Football Championship Subdivision.

Thats great now Larsen can concentrate on middle Linebacker.

This is so sad….we have to add more and more running backs/fullbacks/skill position guys….didn’t we used to draft running backs that didn’t get hurt?

  4. 47rocksurworld says:

Did I miss the part in the draft where the only players available never get hurt?? This allows Larsen to play fulltime on the special teams and defense which is where we need him most, hopefully the Broncos can learn some more tricks from the Chargers offense.

Our inital stock of RB’s are made of matchsticks!

Foster is 5’7″. Are you kidding me? What’s his 40 time? I don’t understand this move.

Between all of these personnel changes, the ups and downs, and the inconsistent play, sometimes the frustrated part of me just wants to give up and hybernate ’till next spring

SHUT UP YOU CRYBABIES. WE DON’T NEED YOU FAIR WEATHER FANS HERE IN BRONCO COUNTRY.

COACH MIKE IS THE PIMP. YALL DON’T KNOW A LICK. SO JUST CHILL. THEY’LL COME THROUGH THIS WEEKEND!

Foster’s time is in the 4.2′s. He’s on YOu Tube. He’s definitely an option to relieve Royal of his PK/KR duties. This keeps reminds me of Dante’ Hall of the KC Chiefs. Im sure he was a CFA due to his size. But hey, look at Anthony Alridge. Most scouts thought he was too small as well. So when he took the field against Arizona in preseason, how many of us were watching thinking OMG, who is this, and why wasnt he drafted? At least I did, then he got hurt. Anyway, this kid looks to have potential, we’ll find out soon enough. Until then, this big Pinnock relieves Larsen from FB duties, and gives support and a breather to Hillis. At 5’10″ and 265, he’s quite a load on the short yardage/goal to go situations. Be positive folks, this could be another good addition.

Hopefully Pinnock can do well. Im not too sure what they will do with Larsen now if Webster returns and gets his spot back.

Coach Mike, give Barrett the start at safety this week. The Jets would be a real good test to see how he compares with the others. And my goodness are we going to need his speed to chase down Leon Washington.

  11. sui generis says:

I like Hillis but i dont think he’s a running back, i dont think it was necessary to pick up a new FB…Hillis is more dangerous as a FB and there will be other RBs that could fill the void, but not many other FBs that can do what he does, but that is just my opinion.

  12. C2 says:

I don’t understand this move but hopefully it’s the right one. I’m also not convinced that Hillis is a RB. Tatum Bell and PJ Pope should get more carries.

  13. BradJamesBroncoFan says:

Pinnock had his moments with the Chargers. He should do well for us as well.

Denver270: Relax, we’ll be just fine. An if your such an expert tell me what quality safety or DT can we pick up now. You might be giving up on the season now, I know I’m not, many fans here are not and certainly the Broncos players are not. Pay attention to Dwayne Robertson. He is the main reason the linebakers make so many tackles. He pushing people around. Barret and Paymah in my opinion would be a great safety duo. He’s smaller but has shown he can tackle. Don’t give up on the Broncos unless they have givin up on themselves. Let’s go get those Jets
