More information on the Broncos’ 2009 schedule — well, the 2009 preseason, at least — were released today, and two West Coast trips and a primetime home game are on the docket.
In Week 1 of the preseason, the team travels to San Francisco to take on the 49ers. The exact date and time haven’t been announced, but the game will be played sometime between August 13-17 and broadcast on CBS4.
In Week 2, Denver heads to Seattle to battle the Seahawks. Once again, the exact date and time haven’t been announced but the contest will be played between August 20-24 and broadcast on CBS4.
The next two weeks of the preseason have the Broncos hosting the Chicago Bears and Arizona Cardinals, respectively.
The Bears game will be played on August 30th and will be played on NBC Sunday Night Football at 6:00 p.m. MDT. The Cardinals game will take place on the following Thursday, September 3rd, at 7:00 p.m. MDT. That game will be shown on CBS4.
So this preseason the Broncos will get a look at players ranging from Frank Gore to T.J. Houshmandzadeh to Matt Forte to Larry Fitzgerald. Leave your thoughts on the schedule in the comments.

Pre-season is a waste of time and in my opinion it should either be cut down to only 2 pre-season games or completely taken off and its not like any of us fans would be upset if the pre-season were to not exist any more.
It is a non issue because they should have a no cry baby policy. I would trade any guy who acts like Cutler has. As a woman I just laugh. This guy makes millions of dollars to play a game and he can’t show up for practice. Some leader he is and at that some man he is. Thank god I have a good hard working MAN. And guess what it’s going to take a man to take this team to the Super Bowl not a punk kid. Dear Mr. Bowlen if you wanted Cassel you were right… I was wrong. He does have a strong arm but he has no leadership abilities. Start Chris Simms… Anyone but Cutler. My 12 year old is so much more of a man than he is.
Well even though I somewhat treasure preseason because by the time offseason (especially this one) ends I’m so desperate for football anything will do and that’s the only reason why I give a crap about pre season. On the other hand, overall it is a complete waste of time, money, and space. Its only a season for injuries to start fueling in when we of all teams don’t need that.
I love that Goodell is wanting to extend the regular season and shortening up the pre season, finally it all makes logical sense. Hopefully by 2011 (I believe that’s when he said something might happen) we will have a change in this. Yeah yeah yeah I said change but this is the good kind. Pre season games can be useful for rookies but I see no point in there being 4 of them. I’m kinda on the fence about it. It has pros and cons just like everything else but its more of a waste than something useful to us. I say if they keep any pre season games which you can almost count on that they will… the starters shouldn’t play AT ALL!!!! That’s how we lose players that we really really need before we start playing games that actually matter.
As of now, I’m excited for these 4 games only because I’m sick and tired of all the drama we’ve had and I’m homesick for football… Denver football. By the time these games come around I’ll probably take all this back and mentally just skip ahead to the regular season.

Does anyone remember when Reeves wanted to trade Elway to the Redskins? Does anyone remember when Reeves drafted Tommy Maddox in the first round to take over for Elway instead of drafting Carl Pickens to help Elway? And what did John Elway do….. He showed up and led his team. That’s what he did. He showed Bronco nation who their leader was. It was him and Reeves had to go. If Cutler doesn’t like McDaniels he should come back and live up to his hype and if in a few years he is the man here Bowlen will get rid of McDaniels but right now I would take McDaniels every day and twice on Sunday and the guy is yet to coach a game. Like I said bring on Chris Simms.
bullrush, you should probably take note of the fact that this is the team’s official site. There is only a minimal focus on Cutler on their news stories and videos because they certainly want to steer attention to other matters. Can you blame them? Plenty of other places to get the skinny on McJayGate or whatever the deuce the local correspondents wish to dub it these days.

There is more to the story to everyone who is curious. Cutler is not coming back to Denver for at least 2 more weeks. He left Nashville and he is trying to cool down in a secret location. The media isn’t quite sure. And I am not worried about this situation I just want a leader to play quarterback here in Denver. Talent isn’t enough. Cutler has more talent in his pinkie than Big Ben or Brady but they are leaders. He needs to grow up or ship out. It’s that simple.

Played the whole season without knowing his life was on the line. Thats right, put his life in jeporty for the love of the game and his DEDICATION to the Broncos! He then thru for 4500+ yards and then this. You all talk about his record but remember that one year was a rookie the other he was ill and did not know it, plus the defences were not that great. So all your rating him on just that are wrong. So anyway, I think we need to lay off cutting down Cutler, McDaniels or anyone else and hope the best works out for the team. Love the photo of Jarvis Moss ! Hope he contributes in a big way for us this year. The preseason always serves a good indicator of who will and will not make this years’ squad. Surprised we’re not playing the ‘boys as we played them the last two years. We’ve been playing the Cards for a few years now it seems. Look forward to the Bears matchup @ home. We played the Niners a couple years ago and they only thing I remember about that game is when Cutler broke loose for a big run.

Can anyone tell me why we are playing all NFC teams in the pre-season? You would think that we would at least play 1 AFC team! Also what is this garbage I hear about Hillis being on the trading block? He is going to be a STUD at FB. McD needs to retink that. I think he is a possible future HOF candidate. What a player he was for us last year and that was his rookie year. He reminds me alot of Mike Alstott with better hands out of the backfield. It is definitly a different schedule but it is interesting to play teams that we usually don’t. As for all the trade rumors on guys like hillis and scheffler it just ain’t going to happen. Thats just other teams betting it up so they can get in the heads of the broncos front office. Hillis is definitly not going anywhere who else can play FB on this roster? Larsen? Pinnock? I doubt it. As for Cutler he’ll be back. He is on a cheap contract so there is no point trading him. If he don’t show you can get some of that money back in fines. Anyway enough of Cutler, nothing going to happen til the draft or even the workouts afterwards. So lets talk about something like the draft, who are broncs going to pick?

I got a question with out the Cutler issue how do you guys feel about Mcd as or head coach do you think he gots what it takes.
I believe McD is a good coach he has a good system which has be known to win games. He is a great O coach but an inspiring head coach that can lead a team, who knows only time will tell. I like his signing of Nolan as the D coach but I will always question the hire of McD. All we needed was a good defense so I thought a D minded coach is what we needed, not to change the offensive system for another offensive system just as good. How the D plays compared to last year will define McD’s first year as head coach.
preseason games are okay as long as no one of significance gets hurt. Assuredly, we hope to have Cutler back in camp. The truth of the matter is he’s burning bridges with other teams because of his sulking and he needs to realize this is where he belongs.
I’m not sure how good McDaniels is..yet. He has a good resume. Some times when any person, business or organisation goes through some changes its hard to tell the out come and it can be difficult. I just hope he is as good as his resume. I think he is.
I don’t think there is any doubt he is as good as his resume. He is a great offensive coach. You got to remember that wasn’t the problem that needed to be fix it was the defense and I believe it is yet to be seen he has improved that area. Alot of second tier players and one good vet ain’t going to make a championship defense.
what if he had brought in a D minded coach…. then the O would have suffered. maybe not this year but in a few years. just another way to look at things.

Good point, I think it is more about finding a balance. I am saying bring a D head coach in to fix the D and a good offensive coach to ‘manager’ the offensive. Keep the same staff, run the same system and have an O coach who knows how to run the current system. This way you are fixing one side of the ball than both.
I think if you go this way the team goes deep into the playoffs sooner then if you fix both sides. But having said that if you go with what McD does and have the D fixed in a few years this team will be a force for a number of years afterwards.
Yeah you know who else had a good resume….every other coach that has come from the bellichek tree….and looked what happened there….all train wrecks! Only time will tell if hes going to be or if he gots what it takes to be a Great Head Coach period!

My Father was buried in August 08′ in an old throwback Elway jersey for gods sake. Over the years, many decisions have been made by you that have impacted the franchise greatly and we as fans have always been there. Since the Greatest Quarterback of all time was our quarterback, we have been waiting for a great and dominant quarterback. In the same year you want to fire one of the greatest coaches of all time in most people’s book, and NOW you want to let some 32 year old wanna be Belichick come in here and trade a superstar for a mediocre quarterback who wasn’t even good enough to start over Leinhart in college??? I just don’t get it. Remember, nearly every Belichick disciple has failed miserably. WEISS, MANGINI, ROMEO and others!!! I hate pre-season, but in this instance I’ll take it!! I was really hoping for a regular season game against the Seahawks this year, but I guess this will have to do. I’ve been living in Vancouver, BC, Canada for 3 years now and it’s never happened. Before that I was living on the far east coast of Canada and I’ve been a hardcore Bronco/Elway fan since the late 80’s….seeing a game was near impossible. I am SO excited to see my beloved Broncos play for the very first time! Cutler or no Cutler, this will be an amazing experience!

im a fan of jay and i believe we need to keep him because of the relationship he has with the guys in the locker room. but i think mcdaniels is a genious when it comes to makin qb’s like shanny was with RB’s. now if we lose cutler i think even chris simms will be ok in our O. we have in my oppinion the best line in the NFL and if mcdaniels can turn cassel into a pro he can make simms a champ.
Interestingly enough, the game against the Bears will probably be the most watched preseason game ever.
It’s the third game of the preseason, which is always the one the starters play the most in, it is going to be nationally televised, and we’re gonna get to see Orton vs. Cutler just months after the trade.
