It’s not letting me embed this one in the site, but here’s a link to a video of Drew Brees talking about fellow former Purdue quarterback Kyle Orton.
Brees compares his situation — starting up again in New Orleans with a first-year head coach in 2006 — to Orton’s in Denver with Head Coach Josh McDaniels.
Manager of Media Information Patrick Smyth posted the link on his Twitter page, so if you haven’t seen it, check it out. For that matter, check out Vice President of Public Relations Jim Saccomano’s Twitter page, Public Relations Graduate Assistant Erich Schubert’s Twitter page, my Twitter page and the official Denver Broncos Twitter page.
Just a quick plug, but we do update them with Broncos news daily.

I see us floating around .500 which, in this division, is enough for a playoff spot. but if not, me might make a surge for a playoff spot. we have a tough schedule, arguably the toughest in the league. we have the Pats, Colts, Giants, Eagles, Cowboys, Redskins, Chargers, Ravens and Steelers. it won’t be easy.
did ne 1 see the broncos part of the 32 teams in 32 days? i like what wilcox had to say about cutler and orton. i hate 2 say it but hes dead on in his whole view of it all
I think it’s possible that we could win our first 4 games but the strech after that is crazy hard. I bet we could sneek a few in there though. I consider this year a rebuilding year so any signs of improving for next year are +’s for me. Give it a couple years and we will be owning the AFC west, then the AFC, then the the NFL. Dynasties are built they don’t happen over night.
Oh yeah and babychamp-broncos and anyone else in my fantasy football leaugue, do you guys think we should have 2 starting QBs each week or one. If we have 2 that means every QB in the NFL will have to be taken and someone might get scr@wed in the draft and get a non startin QB. If you think we should have 1 QB then post on here and on our fatasy football page were it says comments, or you can e-mail me with my email on the fantasy football page.
I don’t think Orton’s numbers that people care about i.e.
Total Yards Passing,
Yards In A Game,
Completions To One Receiver In A Game,
Total Completions,
Those will not be as high as Cutler’s last year because for total yards, we will have a more balanced attack this year, so he won’t throw as often. For yards in a game, again not as many throws often leads to less yards! Completions to one receiver, either we won’t have Marshall which I hope we do but we can do fine without him! The better answer is Orton won’t force it to one guy that often unless he really is open, He is SMARTER THAN CUTLER!
Total Completions I could be wrong on, because he won’t be throwing as much as Cutler did last year, but he will be more accurate with his throws, and his Completion PERCENTAGE will be higher than Cutler’s ever was and ever will be!
That being said he will throw more touchdowns than Cutler did,
He will throw LESS interceptions than Cutler ever will in one season!
He will have a higher QB Rating, which we all know is a jacked system anyway!
All that being said, Brees is a class act, but I didn’t download that microsoft thing to watch the video. Stupid things like that iritate me. JUST LIKE ESPN’S DUMB INSIDER THING!
TheRoyalBeast - I believe mondono is busy keeping up with his family and work. 07elway text me today saying to get on the blogs because Coop posted the picture of her and Stokely at the fan fair on one of the denverbronco.com blogs. I went through all the blogs and I could not find it. Other than that she’s been being lazy!
Anyone finds the blog Coop posted it on let me know, so I can go comment on it.
Anyone who just wants the picture without finding it, let me know I’ll email it to ya if she says its ok. LOL the other pics she sent me I’m not EVER offering!
Keep the faith fans!
Remember we can pound the ball now better than any other team,
Our defense is a lot better all around should hold strong enough to keep a lead
We just have to keep the faith!
GO BRONCOS!
football babe- let me know if its ok to send that pic to a few guys if we still cant find the post of it!….
Oh ya and one final note!
Cutler won’t have close to the numbers he had last year either!
……except for interceptions!
He’ll force it into tight spots as usual and his sub par receivers won’t catch it the way ours did!
Good luck to Chicago’s defense, you’ll need that and a lot of oxygen + gatoraide with how often you’ll run back on the field!
LMAO
what the heck, why did I just get my comments deleted?
Probably because you said something really good… That happens to me a lot… I say something good, check back to see what people said about it, and it’s deleted…
Only happens w/ something good written… I had a comment about what jersey should I get and that managed to stay up…
(But in all seriousness, IDK if someone deletes them, or if it’s just some stupid error thing…)
Hey 2champ4pickSIX, 07Elways picture is on the next blog, you cant get to it from the main page. What you have to do do is go to the very top of this page and right above the Kyle Orton picture is the blog, ot says something about 07Elway.
bronco#80 I say have 1 starting QB
hahahahaha, yea I just hope it doesn’t happen again.
Stats don’t matter. How the player plays and acts on and off the field is what matters.
The only stat Orton will beat Cutler in this year is ticks in the W coloumn.. I hope.
The numbers Cutler put up last year is nothing short of impressive, but they dont mean sh*t when the W coloumn isnt in your favour.
Yeah .500 is proabably good enough to take the divi out, but thats not good enough. We need to be a lot higher if we want to be more competitve when it comes to the post season. We need to go in with guns blazing and having the momentum in our favour. The Broncos historically have been a team that thrives on “Getting on a roll” so we need to kick some serious asssssssssssssssss this year to be a contender.
Stats only matter for fantasy football (Which is fun). The needs to be balanced (Running/Passing, Running Defense/ Passing Defense.).
But at least a few people need to have descent stats. Also, stats usually build up over years. But some years you have less then the year before.
These help stats:
Offense:
(Pos./Good Helper(Same Team))
RB’s/O-Line
QB’s/O-Line/WR/TE
WR’s/QB
TE’s-QB
Defense:
(Pos./Good Helper(Opponent)
D-Line’s/Bad RB/QB
LB’s/(Same as D-Line)
DB’s/Bad WR’s/Bad TE’s
I’m also only worried about the win column. Orton and Cutler both went in two different directions.
Orton’s stats will go up. Cutler’s will go down.
With all the moves we’ve made this off-season the offense should manage the ball better. we always had a team that could jump out there and take a lead but lately we couldn’t hold on to it when we needed to. Orton and our new offensive game plan will give us that.
And of course our D couldn’t get worse! lol
Personnel will stay healthy this year i hope. Looking for a great year!!!
GO BRONCOS!!
I hope orton puts up half the numbers that drew brees puts up in NO. if thats the case were gonna be in for a great new look for the broncos .. This could be a perfect situation. Orton is looking to revise his career and make himself a household name, while Mcdaniels is looking for his new protege nd prove to the league tht he is just as genious as he was in new england. Orton hasnt done too much in this league so if he were to throw up big numbers nd get us to the playoffs i would say tht Coach could call orton “his qb” but who knows only time will tell. But i like wut i see.
P.S. B Marsh need to quit playin nd get on the field. Look at two guys Marshall, nd greg jennings, both draftd same year , same round i thnk jennings was slightly before marshall. Nd here we are now with marshall fighting to get a new contract nd wanting to leave. Nd Jennings basically getting a contract extension handed to him no questions asked. Marshall should take note. Play well, stay outta trouble, come to practice. Ull get ur money
LATER FOOLS!!!
Go BRONCOS
jmonk….Don’t put to much stock in what wilcox and dukes say about our team. They said that Clady needed to move to right tackle because he couldnt make it at the NFL level as a left tackle. Need I go on? These guys are looking at us as trading a QB from a second ranked offence but its points that matter and not yards. Cutler lacks leadership and that is why he is who he is. Give this team a chance before you right them off. We have not only been just an average team lately but how many games have we not even showed up in? Look at the scores of the game following our bye the last 2 years. We were blown out each game. We had huge problems last year including coaching and we have done a great job bringing in the right people so far………Go Broncos….
Ok trigger73 with what you are saying even though you seem to argue against what I said. You totally made my case for me, THANKS!
Orton upgraded his O-Line in the trade, as well as his WR and his TE.
While Cutler downgraded his O-Line WR and TE in the trade!
So according to you Orton will put up better stats! lol, we will win more than the Bears guys! Like I said Cutler while shoot his team in the foot with forced throws and turnovers leading his defense to tiresome 4th quarters and getting the feeling he has to come back and win leading to more forceful throws, dropped passes and turnovers.
Anyway, while in your little system trigger73 Marshall’s situation has been downgraded most would say. Personally I think Orton will put passes where they need to be, and keep them from defenders.
Why B Marsh’s situation is downgraded is because Orton won’t force the throws Cutler did to him, he won’t be looked at 20+ times a game so his receptions will drop, his yards and everything else will drop. Also with the system McDenver runs did Moss get over 100 passes? Another reason his production will drop.
I understand Marsh wanting a new contract, he has out performed his old one, but he is going about it the wrong way. Greg Jennings went about it the right way a year ago! Look at the contract he got this year!!
I do have to say your defensive side is off base though trigger. While it does help a Defense to play a team with a under par RB or QB, good defenses still do well against good teams! IT IS WON IN THE TRENCHES! If you are closing up those holes with your D line, the LB’s kill running backs. If you are getting penetration with your D line or even LB’s and causing pressure. PRESSURE WILL BREAK ANYTHING, QB’S ARE NEAR THE TOP OF WHAT THEY SHATTER!
My mind LB’s and DB’s help is off the D line. While D line help is off of freshness and substitutions!
All I am saying about Cutler and Orton stats guys is that Cutler will never put up the numbers he did last year again! And he will be potrayed as a flop unless he gets a great cast and wins a superbowl. It was a super bowl or bust trade for chicago!
Us on the other hand get a good qb in Orton that just needed a great cast which we already have. He will do well, our defense just has to continue to improve. But in our end of the deal we can only go up because we had the super bowl or bust player and obviously didn’t get the ring! So its all rising from here imo.
It’s a great situation for any qb….an up and coming wideout out, and 2 large targets in Marshall and Tony S. As long as Orton stays out of the bars he should be fine.
