The Patriots have answered.
After Prater’s field goal made it 16-7, New England put together a methodical drive down the field, capped by a 1-yard touchdown pass from Tom Brady to tight end Aaron Hernandez. The score narrows the Broncos’ lead to 16-14 with 8:43 remaining in the second quarter.
Hernandez has been Brady’s favorite target so far. The former Florida Gator has caught four passes for 56 yards and a touchdown, and added a 16-yard run on an end-around on third-and-2.
Hernandez started the Patriots drive with an eight-yard catch on first down from New England’s own 20-yard line. Wes Welker followed that up with a five-yard reception for a first down. From there, the Patriots were able to drive down the field, converting just one third down on the end-around to Hernandez from the Patriots 41-yard line.
Overall, New England’s drive went 80 yards in 12 plays and took 5:04 off the clock.
