Big Names Back at Practice

September 21st, 2011 - 11:21am by Gray Caldwell

The Broncos got some good news Wednesday, as Elvis Dumervil, Brandon Lloyd, Knowshon Moreno and D.J. Williams all returned to practice.

All four players missed the team’s Week 2 win against Cincinnati, and Williams also missed Week 1′s Monday Night Football loss to the Raiders.

We’ll have much more from the team’s open locker room session this afternoon.

Below are some photos from practice.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I see hope on the Horizon. TRB

  2. seweatherman1 says:

Great news. May they help in giving us our 400th win!

  3. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Even DJs back … Just in time to put the same smack down on CJ he put last year. TRB

  4. DenverOranges says:

This is great news but I’m still predicting a loss on Sunday CJ has not had a good rushing game yet and our poor Run D will most likely change that But Go Broncos I hope we win

  5. baylinorcrush says:

    Excellent much needed news.

  6. Carsonic says:

If Doom can be 100%, or even 90%, I can’t wait to see our full pass rush get going. And I hope Moreno becomes a full-fledged threat for a RB catching passes; it seems to be what he succeeds best at.

And my new sign off is going to be:

Go Broncos – Fire Rich Tuten

  7. sndvl says:

So that leaves Champ, Marcus and DMT?! All of a sudden optimism tips the scale…

  8. bfree2bronc says:

As well as Wesley Woodyard played Sunday, I don’t think DJ in an arm brace would be as effective…We’ll see if this is smoking mirrors with DJ.

  9. brian_schneider says:

I think we need to be really careful with Champs hamstring injury and not bring him back too soon. I’d rather get him back at 100% than have that hamstring keep on naggin’ him the rest of the season.

  10. seweatherman1 says:

What happened Gray, Tebow pic wasn’t supposed to be there?

  11. broncofan9137 says:

My opinion is Moreno is back because he saw we ran the ball better without him. With a hamstring pull it normally takes at least 3 weeks to heal. We did just fine without him.

  12. royalbroncofan1 says:

Good eye seweatherman1 – thought it was there earlier..

  13. brian_schneider says:

I think he was just trying to show players that are back at practice from injury and a couple of new additions.

Although I hope the team doesn’t feel that “getting rid” of Tebow will solve their problem at QB…..because it won’t.

  14. seweatherman1 says:

Williams sporting the brace? For support? Hopefully he doesn’t get out there and injure himself more. We need to get these guys healthy and keep them that way.

  15. roya1fantasy says:

i think are pass rush will be just fine…the problem is thats really all we can do. you seen the past 2 games, teams really took the pass rush out by throwing screens and draw plays. and they get huge gains off of them. for some reason we either havn’t recognized that its going to be a screen or draw on every other play or we do recognize it and out D just fails to stop it. I still see a lot of arm tackling also…i predict the Titans will do the same with a lot of screens and such.

I am more confident now that we can do a good job on D to stop it.

    Broncos 24. Titans 13

  16. oldsouthstander says:

I rated this as atossup wityh home field advantage to the Titans. Hate to say,but without Champ is see Tinats 17 Broncos 13.

  17. royalbroncofan1 says:

As bay mentioned, Quan Cosby used to play for the Longhorns. Haven’t seen him in the NFL, but do remember him playing with McCoy in college.

  18. royalbroncofan1 says:

Orton had success with 3 steps drops in last outing. I look for him to continue hitting quick slants. Struggled off 5 & 7 step drops without Lloyd….hopefully next game.
Had decent rollout to hit Decker for 50 plus TD.

  19. drell22 says:

Although i feel like Wesly Woodyard is playing “well” considering the circumstances, I think a healthy DJ is what this team needs defensively. There is a reason he is the starter and has been for almost a decade! Against the Raiders (I admit that nobody played well on defense), WW left a lot of plays on the field. He did finish up the Bengals game with 13 tkls, and he made some good plays on the ball, but thats hardly enough consistancy for me to tip the scales in his favor. Hes a great speacial teams player and a good LB, not a great one. DJ is a great one, but not necessarily elite! And with that said, he is our starter! The same guy that doesnt leave the field for 3 downs, and a guy that the front 7 is indeed “still” missing!

  20. bronco4L says:

I’ll rather have champ then dj back we have mays to take care of CJ.I see players back at practice, but we all know what happened with lloyd last week.

  21. drell22 says:

Lets hope the o-line has gained some confidence… they got pushed around against the Raiders, but played better agianst the Bengals. NFL conerbacks will start jumping routes if we have to resort to 3 step drops all game. And that goes for everybody, from Clady, on down to the rookie! They have to do better opening holes, AND protecting our QB!

  22. bronco4L says:

tenn lost to jax and beat ravens do we really have something to worry about. i hope we have a good sunday, i say we win 20-19 lets go denver!!!

  23. drell22 says:

Yes Bronco4L, if i had to make a choice, I’d rather have Champ back too… but if I had to choose between DJ and WW, I choose DJ!

  24. strandoftds says:

Qaun Cosby also played baseball for my Anaheim Angels organization farm system. He must be pretty athletic to play two sports. Not everybody can do that. i hope Cosby does well with us.

  25. strandoftds says:

Great news to see some of our big namers out on the practice field, good stuff.

  26. strandoftds says:

Spelled his name wrong; QUAN COSBY.

  27. royalbroncofan1 says:

If DB’s pressing to jump slants, then you hit ‘em over the top.

  28. UKBroncos says:

    Bay,

    For my prediction I’m going to hope I keep predicting the wrong result and go 0-3 on the season by saying;

    Titans 24 – Broncos 16

  29. KnowshonForSure says:

    i say broncos win 27-20

  30. shaztah says:

They booted Goodwin and signed JJ to practice suad.

  31. shaztah says:

Guess they can’t make up their mind.

  32. bronco4L says:

I’m just happy the raiders are playing the jets, even though they beat them a few years ago. I don’t want to see the raiders have a better season then us again that was very embarrassing. But lets hope that doom,km and lloyd can play this weekend. Now that orton knows he can throw the ball also at decker that should help out some more. Lets go denver!!!

  33. Londonbronco30 says:

Can some please tell me on which blog Bay posted the result of last weeks scoreprediction – I cant find it and there has been a lot of blogs since.

  34. Londonbronco30 says:

Score prediction this week: Titans 23 – Broncos 20

  35. 07elway says:

Such a relief to see those guys back practicing, can’t wait to get some of our players back… starting to get depressing with so many getting injured. Enough already!

Score prediction for Week 3… Broncos 23-Titans 21
    Another close one

    GO BRONCOS 2011!!!!

  36. royalbroncofan1 says:

Londonbronco30: bay posted prediction results under…”Bowlen hands Fox game ball” blog by Gray Caldwell. ..07:23am post on 09/19/11.

  37. shaztah says:

Yeah and I was the lone one on the wall of shame….Nobody even ribbed me about it. What is with that? I can take it :)

  38. Londonbronco30 says:

    Thank you Royal :-)

Shaztah – good going getting on the wall…

  39. strandoftds says:

Ashley, I hope your right in that we win. I predicted us losing. Come on Broncos!!!!!

  40. strandoftds says:

    Now we need Champ back.

  41. Lord of the Broncos says:

    GO Broncos.

    Broncos 28 – Titans 21.

The clue to beating the TItans is putting Hasselback on his back and letting him get flustered. Why do you think Seattle gave up on him. His average and will play so if you can get to him a few times!!

  42. shaztah says:

Hey Lord are you sure your not talking about Orton?

  43. Jasmine Bronco says:

Some of the Good-ole boys are back…..with a few new ones!
This will be a good game, I say close win or lose. I still say win!!
    Even though close game!!

  44. 07elway says:

@ strand – I’ll always pick Denver to win even when I don’t think they will. Can’t stand to say they’ll lose. Just don’t have the heart to do it. lol
