The Denver Broncos on Friday announced the signing of tight end Adam Bergen to a reserve/future contract. He officially will be added to the club’s roster at the conclusion of the 2008 NFL season in February.
The 6-foot-4, 267-pound Bergen is a third-year player who spent the 2008 regular season out of the NFL after competing in Baltimore’s training camp. He also has seen time on the rosters of Dallas in 2007 and Arizona in 2005 and 2006, which signed him as a college free agent from Lehigh University on May 2, 2005.
In 30 career games with 16 starts, Bergen has totaled 43 receptions for 381 yards with two touchdowns.
His most recent NFL action occurred with the Cardinals in 2006 when he appeared in 14 contests with seven starts and had 15 catches for 11 yards with one touchdown. He saw time in all 16 games with nine starts as a rookie with Arizona in 2005, totaling 28 receptions for 270 yards with one touchdown.
