The Broncos were assigned offensive lineman Kirk Barton off waivers Wednesday one day after the Lions waived him.
The Chicago Bears drafted the 6-foot-6, 300-pound Ohio State product in the seventh round of the 2008 NFL Draft with the 247th overall pick.
Barton appeared in one contest for the Bears and also spent time with the 49ers, the Dolphins, the Bengals and the Lions.

More window shopping…
If he can’t help the Lions,I doubt he can help us LOL.
BFE you forgot the Fins, 49ers and the Bengals lol
Another big body to beat up on in training camp.
Maybe he’ll end up on the practice squad. The D-line could use some more beef to practice against. Check out this link to NY Times article/blog. Pretty good synopses of McDaniels actions and outlook for the season. I’m not sure about the #2 finish in the AFC West prediction, though. I’m thinking if things fall together as I think they will, we will finish 1st this year! GO BRONCOS!!!!

Lvnm, pretty in depth article, laughed at the assessment of Orton:
As for Orton….he’s as average as a ham sandwich, a vanilla ice cream cone and a rerun of Friends all rolled into one.
OC, you like that one? LOL.
Also the assessment of McD been either the hero or the vilain depending on the view point is valid, he can drive people crazy or can get you really excited about stuff basically in the same breath. Hopefully the good guy will prevail this year. As for having us finishing second in the AFC West it would be the safe bet for any rational national media, when you lose the AFC West title to the same team for 4 years in a row, I believe it is required that you show them different by turning that around before anyone picks us to win it, talk is cheap, just show me the money type of thing, just saying.
And 007 is right, this signing is just good for added bodies for training camp, nothing more, I don’t even pay any attention to these types of signings, just practice bodies is all.
Hey, this is for the bloggers here who argue it’s normal we haven’t signed Doom to an extension since next year’s uncertainty for the league with no CBA and that’s why no one is getting big extensions now, etc, etc…:
The New York Jets’ contract logjam cleared up some Wednesday, when the team reached agreement on a colossal six-year, $60 million extension with offensive tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson, according to league sources. Ferguson had two years remaining on his initial contract, so he now will be tied to the Jets for eight years and $73.6 million. The guaranteed money is $34.8 million, a record for an offensive lineman, surpassing the $30 million in guaranteed money that the Miami Dolphins gave No. 1 overall pick Jake Long.
How is that for a team taking care of their top players, sorry Doom, from all my heart, I think the way you have been treated is way less than fair from a team that we all like to refer to as one of the best organization in the NFL. I have voiced my disappointment about all that so often here and as it’s not doing an ounce of good, so be it and booo on you.
Baylin, agree with ya 100% on the Doom signing bro,it simply amazes me how an organization as good as the Broncos could pull the wool over (most) of the sheeps eyes…..sad sad sad.
Yeah BFE, I know we are two of the ones who feel that way, good to have Bronco buddies who speak their minds.
Ordinary Orton will never lead the Broncos to the SuperBowl
Even when I’m gone for awhile I try to go back and read all the blog comments here. Always fun reading. I sometimes wonder though how some folks always think they know more than the organization and some berate McD for not signing Doom etc etc. I doublt McD has much to do with the negotiations, that’s what GM’s and a whole big staff do. People keep pitying Doom-what are you going to say when one day you read Doom signs a big muti year contract? You can’t possibly know what is going on behind the scenes. I trust that negotiations are taking place on a whole lot of players as we speak and good things will be happening soon. Keep the faith, the Broncos are a good organization with a great owner who is no dummy and in the end will do the right thing for the TEAM. Just my humble opinion.
