Bannan Back with Broncos

April 11th, 2012 - 10:56am by Stuart Zaas

The Broncos have signed defensive lineman Justin Bannan, the team announced on Wednesday.

Bannan, who played for Denver during the 2010 season, has totaled 303 tackles, 6.5 sacks, one interception, 10 passes defensed, four forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 144 career appearances.

He has spent time with Buffalo (2002-05), Baltimore (2006-09), Denver (2010) and St. Louis (2011) after being selected in the fifth round of the 2002 draft by the Bills.

Bannan made 32 tackles last season for the Rams in 15 games played (14 starts). He has played at least 15 games in each of the past five seasons.

As a 16-game starter with the Broncos in 2010, Bannan made 35 tackles to go with one sack, four pass breakups and one forced fumble.

A four-year starter at the University of Colorado, Bannan finished his college career with 158 tackles and eight sacks, earning first-team All-Big 12 Conference honors as a senior.

Seem like we are experiencing a little turbulence on the blog I see…. The captain has turned on the seatbelt sign… Lol

In other news: LET’S GO RANGERS!!!

  2. alaskanbronco06 says:

OT LOL some would expect an Alaskan to be all over hockey. I never touched the sport and I couldnt even name 5 teams let alone whos in the playoffs.

  3. OrangeTsunami says:

One would assume, but is hockey even big in Alaska? Obviously Canada is the Mecca..

  4. alaskanbronco06 says:

Oh yea hockey is pretty big here. The local hockey team (All people my age I went to school with all of them) had I think 10 players get division 1 hockey scholarships. More people are into hockey than any other sport up here. But where i live at least everyone loves every and all sports we play in high school.

Remember back when we needed d-line help and McD brought in Vickerson, Bannan, & Green. Then in the draft he picked Moreno with our first pick. I am kind of getting that vibe again that EFX is going to throw something crazy out there.

    You guys believe in Karma?

Last Nights Basketball game between the Nuggets and Timberwolves was the best example of Karma I have ever seen!!!

Kevin Love took a cheap shot on Kenneth Faried, Shouldering him to the ground just like a hockey check after a lay-up, total cheap shop and the trainers had to come out and tend to Faried… then about 10 minutes later in Game time, Javell McGee caught he the ball on the low block and when he turned to square he hit Love right in the Temple with his elbow and he went out like a light… Knocked out cold, and the announcer almost said the whole phrase ‘Karma’s a Biatch’ but he stopped himself! it was AWESOME! plus the Nuggy’s won!!!

Makes sense, I just haven’t really heard too much about it. I bet folks play on lakes and back yards out there! Some of the best memories of my childhood growing up in Denver was playing outside in the winter. We would take the hose to fresh snow and have it! Great times!

  8. alaskanbronco06 says:

I have a lot more faith in the staff then I ever did in McD. Fox and JDR know what theyre going to do with the D. As days go by I think our D is becoming more and more top 10 D material.

I broke my hand and put eight holes in the wall the day McD was hired. I wasnt happy at all. But the coach I wanted didnt pan out where he went either. Who knows what he would have done in Denver. I wanted Spagnola because he was defensive minded which I thought we needed till we hired Fox. lol

  9. alaskanbronco06 says:

BT thats hilarious. Karma is a B***h

OT lakes backyards the street. People here play it everywhere. Back when I was younger I would go watch the high school hockey team games which were all played on a lake because we didnt have a rink at that time.

Six years ago was the famous Rose Bowl Texas vs UCS now Lienart and Young dont have jobs both officially labeled busts and Bush well people can argue that hes a bust and that he isnt.

I remember that game. I told my day that Bush would be the next big thing and Young and Lienart wont make it. Guess i was right 2 out of 3.

I know some on here play Madden the final four are all NFC teams. Too bad i wanted the Madden curse on the Patriots.

Aaron Rodgers, Calvin Johnson, Patrick Willis, and Cam Newton.

I won’t start talking hockey here, but I know we got a couple supporters in here! I’m just pumped for the playoffs, and the Rangers are the only NY team I root for, b/c I moved from Denver right before the Nordiques came to town, so I don’t really have a connection to them, but I like to see any Denver team do well

  13. OrangeTsunami says:

The DU Pioneers was the team I followed back then, great program

  14. OrangeTsunami says:

Speaking of which, I’m sure LAX knows that DU has a great young Lacrosse program as well, with Princeton’s old coach taking over. First team west of the Mississippi to make the final four last year

    Hightower visiting the Steelers today

  18. alaskanbronco06 says:

OT you beat me to it. Lol.

  19. OrangeTsunami says:

Lol. Odds are he lands in Pitt

  20. alaskanbronco06 says:

Maybe OT. Steelers need help on the Oline Dline and also need a RB since Mendenhall will probably miss this next season cause his recovery had a setback. But Hightower fits what they like at LB id say its 90% thats where Hightower goes.

  21. OrangeTsunami says:

True, who really knows.. It can’t get here soon enough, the suspense is killing me…..

  22. alaskanbronco06 says:

OT Two weeks. I think the suspense is killing a lot of us lol

  23. monodono says:

Thanks for the update on Kuper AB.

  24. sndvl says:

Turtle, if your youngsters know who Tebow is, but don’t know Elway….then it’s up to you to teach them…(unless everybody is just a Tebow fan)….show them classic game. The Drive? How about this http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00077MH8O/ref=redir_mdp_mobile?ei=g_iGT7LKGcGr8AHNoqmjCA&sa=X&ved=0CFQQgwgwAA

As a Bronco fan who was lucky enough to watch Elways career, you better believe my son will get to know who The Duke of Denver was and what he brought to the team many of us LOVE….

    Broncos Country Strong 2012!

  25. OrangeTsunami says:

For those on Twitter, why not ask DThomas if he’s taking part in the Manning throwing sessions?

  26. alaskanbronco06 says:

    No problem monodon

OT didnt think about it lol. Thanks for the suggestion. Will do.

  27. monodono says:

It looks like Kuper won’t be 100% this year, Broncos need help on the inside.

  28. DenverOranges says:

i dont even think hes in Denver right now

  29. alaskanbronco06 says:

Said this before I really like Miller from Colorado in round 5.

  30. sndvl says:

    Great news on Kuper!!!

  31. millertime2 says:

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1142743-nfl-trade-scenario-new-york-giants-should-consider-trading-for-rb-ben-tate We should be trading for Tate if anyone, hes completely affordable the guys a beast.

  32. millertime2 says:

SNDVL, Im with you brother, everyone should know the duke, no comparison to who they know now.

  33. Atwater4HOF says:

Wow I need to stay up later for the fireworks lol

  34. OrangeTsunami says:

I agree, it’s both BT and AB’s obligation to teach the youth about our glorious history. We should be proud of it and pass it along to the next generation, ensuring that it carries on. We all need to be thankful we’re not Chargers fans, with nothing to pass on… :P

  35. Atwater4HOF says:

Sammie lee hill for a 4th
    Keith rivers for a 5th

Good value out there for some young talent, EFX wont go that route but I wish they would

  36. alaskanbronco06 says:

OT no doubt. Have a lot to teach these young kids. Both on and off the field. Them being all around 10 nows the time IMO to really influence their life in a good way. I just hope that on some of them i can have as big of an impact on their life as my old pee wee coach had on mine. Fortunately the Tebow thing doesnt have as big of an impact of here. But that doesnt mean I wont be teaching them about the greats that have played.

For those who think im just a Tebow supporter I wont be teaching them about him. But I will be teaching them about Manning because he has been one of the greats to play.

  37. alaskanbronco06 says:

Well theres only 4 days left for RFAs. Still no interest in Wallce not surprising. Too bad there wasnt any for some of our RFAs I wouldnt have minded seeing some of them go. lol.

  38. killerkod says:

    Hey Everyone……….

More controversy on the blog last night I see……..lol Can’t we all just get along?

When my daughter is old enough to sit down with daddy to watch football, she will no doubt know the incredible players of the past. She’ll be watching the DVD I have on the entire history of the broncos…..we should all know the roots and history of our favorite team.

    GO BRONCOS!

    Just saying.
I mean I can say that right.

Atwater whats up? I get the vibe your young how old are you?

OT I had the privilege of going to a 3 day camp with him.. Best coach I’ve ever worked with came away with tons of knowledge he also coached the Olympic team and it was Cornell not Princeton lol… Also an assistant at Virginia (Premier Lacrosse program)

KK I didn’t cause it! I mediated horribly lol that is all

  41. Broncos LAX says:

OT right you are I went to a 3 day camp with him AWESOME coach and he coached Cornell and Virginia as well as on the Olympic team.

  42. Broncos LAX says:

    Todd McShay
    Scenario 3: the trade-down
“If the defensive players they value are not available, the Broncos could look to trade back and pick up extra selections. That could allow them the luxury of taking Peyton Manning’s heir apparent (Brock Osweiler?) in the second round while also addressing a need at running back (Boise State’s Doug Martin), corner (North Alabama’s Janoris Jenkins) or defensive tackle (Washington’s Alameda Ta’amu).”

  43. Karl03 says:

Thats a great thought if we were able to trade for Tate it wouldnt take much that gives us a back for the future and he is way better than anyone we could get in the 3-5 rounds of this draft I like it, but i doubt it happens. Justin Banan well he is a good rotational player but thats about it i feel we still need help up front. Sucks Hightower is gonna be gone i figured that way back when i say the steelers were ahead of us drafting.

  44. alaskanbronco06 says:

LAX Ive been thinking about it. And i wouldnt mind trading back with Miami. We could get their 2nd rounder their 2 3rds and a 4th and/or 5th possibly. Then with their 2nd we could get a RB Miller or Martin Then get Winn or Brock at 57 then at 72 and 73 (The two Dolphins 3rds) we can go after Winn/Brock and Ta’amu then take a RB with our 3rd 87 overall I believe.

  45. Karl03 says:

Trading down to get a couple of these guys would not hurt us because i feel they ones mentioned would help the team so if a Poe or a Brockers or even a Hightower dont fall i wouldnt be mad if the broncos traded back

  46. Broncos LAX says:

Scenario 1: The Broncos have a glaring need in the middle of their defense, and Brockers is a great fit. He’s big and powerful and has good tape, and his best football is still ahead of him.
Scenario 2: Jump on Kirkpatrick if he should fall down the board.
Scenario 3: If the defensive players they value are not available, the Broncos could look trade back and pick up extra selections. That could allow them the luxury of taking Peyton Manning’s heir apparent (Brock Osweiler?) in the second round while also addressing a need at running back (Boise State’s Doug Martin), corner (Jenkins) or defensive tackle (Washington’s Alameda Ta’amu).

I`m hoping that the NFL schedules come out soon. They usually come out just before the draft every year. I can hardly wait.
