Bakke: Tebow’s First Start

December 22nd, 2010 - 1:49pm by Kyle Sonneman

Team photographer Eric Lars Bakke has been working with the Broncos for 26 years. His photography blog will serve as a unique look from the perspective of an NFL photographer, periodically updating the site with tales from the sidelines, some of his favorite photos and the stories behind them. In this edition, Eric shares some Holiday cheer and provides some of his images from Tim Tebow’s first start.

For all you Bronco-land boys and girls naughty and nice- I bring you holiday cheer… hoping we’ll see you in the stands for the rest of the year.

And with Santa’s wink and a nod, here are some stocking stuffers all wrapped in red and green.

Wishing you all the best for this holiday season and memories to glean.

    Nice Pics…

Tebow is in the game…his first game and we finally see Richard Quinn catch a pass. The guy that was somewhat invisible for the past like year and a half lol.

    Bay,

wouldnt call Moreno Injury Prone…Every player suffers injuries…especially when u use em the wrong way…and boy have we tortured Moreno. Bucky no doubt, Maroney no doubt, Ball I always said couldn’t catch and once again dropped a TD on Sunday…(Moreno is a great receiving RB, woulda caught that) …. I am just hoping we can get a pick for Maroney or something. Plus I would like a new strength and conditioning coach. We can draft a good FB in the 7th round like we did with Peyton Hillis…You would be surprised how many good FBs last that long cuz in college they didn’t get to run…As far as pass catching TE…we could try for one in FA or spend a mid round pick on one…Like Kyle Rudolph but at a 2nd round pick, he is a luxury we cannot afford. Woulda preffered if we traded our 4th pick for Patriots Gronkowski or Hernandez instead of Maroney. Not to mention Trading Phonzy for a crap TE like the other gronkowski….uggggh…the McD era sends shivers down my spine…

Agreed to disagree since we have addressed that in the past, Moreno is injury prone in my book at the NFL level no matter what system he is in, only way he’ll last is to under utilize him with maybe 10-15 carries per game, not exactly something to expect of a first round pick, LOL.

  7. baylinorcrush says:

I was too generous, should of said 10-12.

  8. strandoftds says:

I`m going to be curious to see how Lendale White performs next year. If he can stay healthy he is a big strong back.

  9. sndvl says:

Knowshon is definitely injury prone. That’s why some call him no show.
Baylin, to answer your previous question, my guess is they are simply waiting for the right time. Like Christmas day. Or the day after we knock SD outta the playoffs, (one can hope)! It seems only a technicality as it’s a certainty. Unlike the Champ negotiations. Again, I can only hope. Lol.

Great pics of Tebow! Happy Holidays Broncos Country.

I think White/Moreno is a great rotation. We could turn them into our own version of Jones/Charles. Our O is in good shape, we just need a good receiving TE and spend every single draft other draft pick on D. Maybe an o-linemen or two for depth. We could dip into FA for those. WE NEED A D!!!

Tebow looked great on Sunday, and I look forward to seeing him play out the year and work on his game from week to week as we know his work ethic would require him to do so.

Anyways its Thursday over here in little old NZ and I am done for the year, well work wise that is. On that note I would quickly like to wish you all and awesome Christmas and a smashing New Year!!!

Thanks sndvl, it’s just so important at this point and time I’m frankly surprised it’s taking so long.

On the NFLN, just saw Lombardi saying it’s definitely Tebow time in Denver and Tebow will get a shot at being the starting QB next year regardless of who is the HC because Orton’s 9 mil contract next year is not guaranteed, like McNabb’s, it’s a pay as you go type of deal.

He also said Kubiak might very well end up in Denver which would be a marriage made in heaven for Tebow.

Anyway, I thought that was a lot of information.

Thanks a bunch samoan same to you and your family, Happy Holidays!

What Tebow and Orton have to say about the end of the season as per Klis:

Tim Tebow will finish the season as the Broncos’ quarterback with the understanding his future bosses aren’t here.

The Broncos’ new general manager with final-say authority on roster decisions may or may not be Brian Xanders, the team’s current GM. And the Broncos’ next head coach most probably isn’t in the building.

Does Tebow believe than in the Broncos’ final two games — Sunday against Houston, and Jan. 2 against San Diego — he’s auditioning for bosses he doesn’t yet know?

“I think that always in the NFL, everything you do is an interview,” Tebow said today. “It is an audition. You always have to put your best foot forward and try and go out there and perform every day in practice and every game. I will try to do nothing less, personally.”

As for the uncertainty of his next GM and head coach, Tebow said: “I’m not going to worry about it because I can’t control it. There’s no reason for me to worry about it. The only thing I need to worry about is getting ready for the Texans.”

Kyle Orton wishes he was the starting quarterback getting ready for the Texans, too. Orton said today he believes he will be healthy enough to play Sunday against Houston but that he was told Tebow would finish the season.

“You never want to give up your job, you know?” Orton said. “We’ve worked hard for a number of months and you certainly want to finish that out with your guys. It is disappointing to not be able to do that.

“I understand that as an organization you have a lot invested in a first-round draft pick and you want to see him play, so that’s how it goes.”

After Tebow’s starting debut last week, Tebow received mixed opinions about his performance.

“There have always been the naysayers,” Tebow said. “And there always will be. There were when I was a freshman in high school. They told me I couldn’t be a high school quarterback. That was my first dream, to be a high school quarterback.

“And we just had to keep taking steps from that point on. There’s always going to be naysayers, there’s always going to be people who don’t want me to succeed or don’t think I can succeed and I take that and use that as motivation. I always have and I think I always will. I’m a very self-motivated person.”

  17. baylinorcrush says:

They are both saying the right thing.

  19. BeastFromEast92 says:

BTW,great pics of our new Field General!

  20. BeastFromEast92 says:

He just looks the part, look at the 4th pic down and tell me when you last saw that kind of emotion from a Denver Bronco!

  21. Bronccrushfan says:

I watched the game a couple times, just to make an honest evaluation of his performance. His footwork was awkward at times, especially when dropping back to pass. There were some passes that he threw the ball like a college QB, and his throwing motion was very awkward. The TD to Brandon LLoyd should have been picked off, as should the dropped pass to Lance Ball. Now, with that being said, before I get flamed out. The thing that I absolutely loved about his play was the passion, and the fire he has to play the game. I got the feeling that in the 4th, he was almost at that point of “alright, our defense isn’t stopping a little old blue hair in her scooter. Time for me to take this on my shoulders.” There were times as he was moving around, that he reminded me of a certain pigeon toed QB that we all love. He took care of the football, and made some throws that show he has skills that just need to be refined. I would say his performance was much better than the average rookie QB in their first game.

  22. BeastFromEast92 says:

His very first start in the NFL,I think was great, how many QBs have threw for a TD and ran for a TD in their Rookie start?

  23. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Merry Christmas too you too bro. Hope you have a great one samoan.

  24. trueonbfan says:

BFE… you forgot… and NOT thrown an INT in their first start or fumbled a snap or hand off in their first start. :)

  25. trueonbfan says:

on another note…how is Kubiak going to do us any good. His defense in Houston is as bad as ours and he spent a #1 pick on DEFENSE and let his best CB get away in FA.

  26. griff77302003 says:

why would Kubiak be just what Tebow needs ?

  27. 13o13 says:

    on

yesterday on his talk show Dave Logan called him no-show
