Bailey Impressed with New Uniforms

May 1st, 2012 - 4:34pm by Gray Caldwell

At the beginning of April, Champ Bailey donned the Broncos’ new Nike uniform as the NFL unveiled each club’s new look.

The Pro Bowl cornerback came away impressed.

“From the outside looking in, you might not see a whole lot (of difference),” Bailey said. “But the feel is different. And Nike is top-notch — you can’t get much better than that.”

Nike described the uniform changes below:

The Denver Broncos have chosen to take full innovation in the Nike Elite 51 football uniform. The Broncos design aesthetic will stay true to years past while updating the color-blocking in the neckline in order to accommodate the Flywire technology to reduce weight and provide a lockdown fit over the pads. Designed and engineered from the inside out, the new uniform focuses on creating a system where the baselayer, padding, jersey and pant work in concert. A few of the new innovations include increasing sleeve articulation for better range of motion and integrating new four-way stretch fabrication to provide a streamlined shrink-wrap fit.

As for the new feel Bailey mentioned, he said he believes it will benefit the players on gamedays.

“Only time will tell once we get out there on the field and put them on,” he said. “I’m just looking forward to that part.”

While the material of the jerseys is what the players will notice most, fans will certainly pay attention to the look of the new threads — notably the switch back to orange.

“I think it’s overdue,” Bailey said. “Now we can wear orange cleats and all kind of stuff. It’ll look fresh.”

Replicas of the jerseys are on sale now, and while the players’ actual jerseys aren’t expected to arrive at Dove Valley until closer to training camp, one uniform has arrived — Peyton Manning’s.

I don’t really know how PM can be on a list of the top players of 2011 when he didn’t even take a snap. It should be based on your play from that season, not season’s past. I think he’s left off.

Morning y’all. Everyone calm down, one at a time.. I can barely keep up with all these posts… Lol. Here’s something I saw posted elsewhere on Osweiler, and thought you guys would like to read it, as I certainly did:

Mayock: “He’s a little bit of a project, which makes sense to have him training, interning, behind Peyton Manning and John Elway. He’s very raw but with significant upside. Despite the fact that he’s started just 15 games, you can see the skill set. He’s got a big arm, maybe the best in the draft this year.”

McShay: “Brock Osweiler, the more tape I watch out of him coming out of Arizona State, the more impressed I am with him,” McShay said. “He’s got a unique delivery and he’s not very fundamentally sound yet, but he’s got unbelievable physical tools and he’s a very good leader. I think he could move into that first round.”

NFL.com article: “A number of NFL sources told us their teams have very high grades on Osweiler and would be shocked if he was not drafted by the end of the second round.”

Gil Brandt (former VP of player personnel for the Cowboys): Based on Friday’s workout, I think Osweiler vaulted himself into the first round on draft day. He will likely work out for a number of teams; there is a lot of excitement surrounding him. His showing Friday was somewhat surprising; I think he exceeded the expectations of everybody in attendance.

Brian Billick: When I watch his tape, I see a fluid athlete with quick, balanced feet and a quick throwing action. The only thing I didn’t see him do with regularity was drop back from under center — almost all of his snaps were in the gun. But during his recent pro day, Osweiler was able to display some of those skills. He has many scouts and analysts thinking he might have played his way into first-round consideration.

Jon Gruden: What you do know is you have an intelligent 6’7” quarterback that can make a lot of throws. He’s tough, he’s smart and he really wants to be great. And those are some things that you want to develop, obviously. … I like Osweiler. I see him going someplace as a future quarterback.

    Hey Turtle….how bout them Lakers!!!!!!!!!……Kobe going down?……he put down 38 points…haha!

Damn I was posting last night 2 blogs back, gonna take a while to get used to this new blog, but I like it,looks great on Foxfire!

  4. Orange27CRUSHER says:

I’m impressed with Champ Bailey! The guy has been doing it at a high level for a long time. He can’t personally shut down the other teams top reciever and has not lost a step. He can tackle better than any corner I can remember and he is the heart and soul of our defensive back field! GREAT WORK CHAMP!!!

    GO BRONCOS!!! 8)

  5. brian_schneider says:

I guess the general consesus is that we’ll have to wait 2-3 seasons before we get a good look at Osweiler…if all goes well with Manning.

  6. OrangeTsunami says:

Btw, great to see Tide roll through here!!! ;)

  7. killerkod says:

Is the writing on the wall that Weber will now be released? He never really got much of a chance………..but I’m guessing there’s a reason for that.

  8. ScalptheChiefs says:

I dont want to see Ozzy taking meaningful snaps for 2-3 years!! lol I can see the upside though he seems like a really nice kid, I see tebow qualities in him jus not as heavy on the faith

  9. ScalptheChiefs says:

I could see Weber being released, hope he gets a chance to shine somewhere!

  10. brian_schneider says:

EFX got both the QBs they were working for. Now we shouldn’t have a QQ and we shouldn’t be worried about them getting rid of either of them. I’m expecting Osweiler to be competing for the 2nd QB spot with Haine..which as usual probably won’t be much of a competition.

  11. ScalptheChiefs says:

I think Hanie will look good for us!! Finally has a line in front of him and we have plenty of weapons for him to utilize. Hopefully like Ozzy, he will only be needed in the preseason!

  12. ScalptheChiefs says:

I think someone mentioned it last blog but I wouldnt mind seeing us bring back Gaffney… He should come cheap and he is still pretty solid.

  13. brian_schneider says:

In my opinion with the WR we had, with the addition of Caldwell and Stokely, are a pretty solid WR core. That coupled with Manning making them look outstanding, I think we’ll be alright. Maybe we’ll even find a CFA diamond in the rough.

  14. killerkod says:

I dunno Scalp………..I think we have enough receivers as it is. IMO

  15. killerkod says:

plus, I think PM will really utilize the TE position this year and they’ll play a huge part in the offense…….

  16. ScalptheChiefs says:

Yea very solid points guys, I would jus rather see someone like gaffney then willis lol and I hate the injury bug… Ill never forget a few years back where we thought we had enough rb’s then went through 9 of them lol

  17. OrangeTsunami says:

I agree that we’re pretty stacked at WR and TE. Also, Hillman will be used on screens, and I think Gerell Robinson has a shot to make the squad.

  18. ScalptheChiefs says:

Plus we are going to pass more then 10 times a game this year, I dont think you can have too many targets!!

  19. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Yea KK … probably because NOW we got capable tightends, include one he has played with

Love the Pun OT “Great to see tide roll through here” … she’d love that. Im more of an LSU guy tho lol

    TRB

  20. 1nOnlyTRB says:

I hope Hillman is durable. One of the reasons I wanted Doug Martin. Between McGahee and Moreno, Hillman could be starting in no time lol.

    TRB

  21. ScalptheChiefs says:

Lol ya TRB he looks like he could be very fun to watch… I think I can make a case for anyone on offense now though with 18 taking snaps!!

  22. brian_schneider says:

I could see us using Hillman on kick/punt returning since we lost Royal.

  23. killerkod says:

I don’t even think No Show sees a snap this season……….but I could be wrong. They might just keep him on to ride out the last year of his contract.

Who do you guys see taking kick offs and punt returns this year now that Eddie is gone? I sure hope our special teams coverage unit is a lot better this year. We gave too many opponants awesome field position every game last year.

  24. ScalptheChiefs says:

Same with Caldwell too right Brian?

  25. killerkod says:

haha brian…….you answered my question before I even asked. lol

  26. ScalptheChiefs says:

Im giving NoShow one more year! I bought his jersey years ago and am almost ashamed to wear it lol I really want to see him get his **** together!

  27. killerkod says:

what a bust he’s been so far. I mean, he’s had flashes of awesomeness followed more by moments of “seriously?”

  28. Fat Boy Jones says:

I like the uniforms too. A lot. But let’s be honest here. Champ is sponsored by NIKE. Of course he is going to say he likes them.

Perfect example: Mike Vick (sponsored by NIKE as well) tweeted how much better the new NIKE Eagle’s jerseys were the day of the release, however, other than swapping in the NIKE logo, the Eagles jersey remained unchanged from Reebok’s jerseys and took no new NIKE tech at all. When NIKE sends you a check, you tend to like their product.

  29. Bronco_Turtle says:

YO Beast! No one in the Sporting World is more deserving of a Vinegar Enema than Kobe… I know as a Man, that if you saw your son acting that way in any sporting event you would have pulled him to the sideline and Whooped his AZZ right in front of all of his friends… No place for that kind of attitude when you have that kind of talent… Very Sad display really

  30. ScalptheChiefs says:

I hear ya KK, hence the ashamed to wear it part hhaah but when hes healthy he looks really good! I jus think he will be utilized properly now.

FBJ hell ya brother, wouldnt you sellout if you could?? :)

  31. OrangeTsunami says:

Haha.. Thx TRB, I was hoping someone would get that.

I really hope we are smart enough NOT to use Hillman on either PR or KR. We got Caldwell, Vaughn, and even Bolden as well as Judie will get some looks there. Hillman is far too valuable to use in the return game IMO

  32. brian_schneider says:

I would be more likely to give Moreno more consideration if his performances have been consistent. You could argue that his performances have been inconsistent due to his injury proneness. When he was healthy he sort of was hit or miss with his productiveness. I’m done with Moreno personally and I think having Manning will help McGahee more since we won’t need to run the ball 50+ times a game allowing him to be more refreshed late in games and the season.

  33. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Heres the thing about Knowshon. Its both his fault and not his fault. I say that because he was a zone back drafted in a power offense and not just a power offense but McDs offense where NOBODY could run the ball (Many tried) … so his first 2 years were pretty wasted. He finally gets a chance with a real HC that knows the run and He gets hurt (this is “his fault” part). I think he can be a great contributor, but it requires him to stay healthy, which he cant. Its just unfortunate. Either way I will take McGahee, Moreno and Hillman over Ball and the other yahoos. Thats a pretty decent 3 RB rotation. And McGahee won’t be here forever. Moreno has a chance to contribute, and will probably still be second string. You don’t wanna throw a rookie like hillman in there so quick, just once in a while. Moreno still has the chance to prove people wrong this year, if he can stay healthy. Alas his DUI might have put him in the dog house. Thats just my take on Moreno, always has been.

As far as KR. Still super peeved we lost royal (lost a couple faves this offseason) but I’d use either Vaughn or Tillman. Vaughn is Electric and he clearly won’t be starting. Wasn’t the best CB to begin with anyway but he is great depth.

    TRB

  34. 1nOnlyTRB says:

oh another part i meant to add was so as a result we have been impatient with him after those first 2 years where even moses couldn’t part a running lane for our run offense. Still think he is capable. He is still young, and its up to him to prove people wrong. Dunno how well he has healed yet tho but with his knowledge of the offense he will definitely be 2nd string.

    TRB

  35. killerkod says:

my memories of NoShow………….other than the countless injuries…………are all of those third and shorts we didn’t convert cause he danced in the backfield and then decided to run into the back of the O-Line guy for a loss. So many opportunities were missed due to his inability to run in between the tackles and fight for those critical short yards.

  36. ScalptheChiefs says:

Well said TRB, he is still very young and in a 3 or 4 rb rotation he should be able to stay healthy and contribute. Is this also not his contract year? A lot of guys get that extra boost in pretty much any of the Major leagues when they are playing for a new deal. Im not a huge fan of Ball but I’d like to see more JJ this year. I want some screen passes and check downs this year! Love the summer but bring on september! lol

  37. brian_schneider says:

I do agree with 1nOnlyTRB in that it isn’t ALL Moreno’s fault. Mainly it isn’t his fault that McD drafted him at #12 which was a mistake on McD and Xanders. I mean if Moreno was drafted in the 2nd or 3rd I don’t think we’d put too much into his performances. McD made a reach on Moreno in my opinion.

  38. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Holes that were not there KK. In Fox Regime he ran pretty well. We jsut keep remembering the McD offense which needed the wild horses to get any running of any kind. Also lets not forget when they season started of McGahee had a tough time running the ball before oline learned the new scheme. He also bennefitted alot from the zone read where Ds were confused if TT or McGahee had the ball. Thats when our runnign game picked up more than ever. He still ran traditionally ocasionally but i am serioiusly worried that without the threat of zone read, our run game will be lucky to be top 10 let alone the number 1 overall we had last year. I jsut hope its top 15 at least. Good thing about Hillman is that he is a home run hitter. havent had one since Tatum Bell (that man killed it his rookie season as a change of pace dude). We can also just trade Moreno, he may have better success elsewhere ala cedric benson. TRB

  39. 1nOnlyTRB says:

indeed schneider … heck even if he was drafted in the late 20s we wouldnt put as much pressure. but he will never live up to the number 12 spot. Especially when we lost out on defensive guys we needed that draft like orakpo cushings and clay mathews.

    TRB

  40. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Heck even ayers may never live up to his draft spot either .. at this point in time im just hoping for them to be solid contributors at the very least. My probowl hopes have long since dashed lol

    TRB

  41. ScalptheChiefs says:

That last comment was painful to read… missing out on Orakpo, Cushing or Clay and being stuck with NoShow…. ouch

  42. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Cushings and Orakpo were taken between moreno and ayers and Clay was taken affter ayers in the 20s … yup … ridiculous. Stupid mcd, all he had to do was fix our D and he messed with everything but the D. We had 2 picks that round. Everyone swore we would get orakpo .. heck we coulda had both Orakpo and Clay …. sigh. So many missed opportunities but them the breaks.

    TRB

  43. killerkod says:

I’ll give you that TRB…………the holes weren’t the best with McD’s O…….which is why I think he was used wrong to begin with. He’s a guy who’s great in space and not very good at running up the gut. But that’s the way McD used him and pretty much set him up for failure. If he stays……….he can be extremely effective in the screen game cause that’s his strength….being out in the flats.

  44. killerkod says:

If he wants a job next season, he’d better make a great impression in his contract year. Maybe that lights a fire under his a$$.

  45. 1nOnlyTRB says:

indeed KK, I feel we got away from the screen when moreno went down last year. We didnt see a single RB screen after that. And it was on a big gainer that he got hurt in the lions game too … possibly a screen. But yup, guys a finese back. not the fastest but he has some pretty shifty moves and hurdles but he cant use those in the hole lol. We will see how it goes.

    TRB

  46. killerkod says:

Who you you guys think will be our biggest compeition in the division next season?

  47. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Same people its always been. The chargers, and the addition of royal with a QB of rivers caliber spells problems in the pass and return game. I expect royal to go back to rookie form. Him and vincent jackson will be a problem. Good thing we stocked up on CBs and got an inside rush from Wolfe and our prominent edge rushers. Its gonna be a fight tho. Especially if we don’t step our Safety game up and still suck at covering TEs.

    TRB

  48. killerkod says:

VJ went to the bucs………didn’t he? I dunno about the chargers……..they lost VJ, they lost sproules last season and Gates seems to be on the downside of his career. Eddie might give them a boost, specially in the return game. I’m thinking with a healthy Cassells, the Cheifs might just be the team we have to watch out for in our division.

  49. killerkod says:

Alrighty………..I’m out of town on business for a couple of days and prob won’t be touching base on the blog until monday morning. Everyone enjoy the rest of your week and have a great weekend!

    GO BRONCOS!

  50. strandOFTDS says:

I think it`ll be K.C. I think S.D. is going to go backwards and on the downfall, their days are over.
