Bailey Impressed with New Uniforms

May 1st, 2012 - 4:34pm by Gray Caldwell

At the beginning of April, Champ Bailey donned the Broncos’ new Nike uniform as the NFL unveiled each club’s new look.

The Pro Bowl cornerback came away impressed.

“From the outside looking in, you might not see a whole lot (of difference),” Bailey said. “But the feel is different. And Nike is top-notch — you can’t get much better than that.”

Nike described the uniform changes below:

The Denver Broncos have chosen to take full innovation in the Nike Elite 51 football uniform. The Broncos design aesthetic will stay true to years past while updating the color-blocking in the neckline in order to accommodate the Flywire technology to reduce weight and provide a lockdown fit over the pads. Designed and engineered from the inside out, the new uniform focuses on creating a system where the baselayer, padding, jersey and pant work in concert. A few of the new innovations include increasing sleeve articulation for better range of motion and integrating new four-way stretch fabrication to provide a streamlined shrink-wrap fit.

As for the new feel Bailey mentioned, he said he believes it will benefit the players on gamedays.

“Only time will tell once we get out there on the field and put them on,” he said. “I’m just looking forward to that part.”

While the material of the jerseys is what the players will notice most, fans will certainly pay attention to the look of the new threads — notably the switch back to orange.

“I think it’s overdue,” Bailey said. “Now we can wear orange cleats and all kind of stuff. It’ll look fresh.”

Replicas of the jerseys are on sale now, and while the players’ actual jerseys aren’t expected to arrive at Dove Valley until closer to training camp, one uniform has arrived — Peyton Manning’s.

BnO, I know a guy who’s related to him out here in CO. My thoughts go out to him and the rest of Seau’s family

My heart goes out to Junior Seau and his family and team. Hard times. The military has started hiring specialists who do nothing but look into the emotional and spiritual well being of soldiers. I think it is time for the NFL to demand that all teams do the same.

The question in my mind is will Brock be able to beat out Haney for for that #2 spot? I’d love to see the kid play. Still thinking that Manning will not make it far into the season.

I like the Hillman pick. Reminds me of a lot of other players.

RIP Junior 43 is way to early to go. RIP.

Somebody is likely to answer that teams do employ chaplains and mental health pros. But…I think these ought to be mandatory with specific training. Teams have to do this to meet the physical needs of players and they employ doctors with specified credentials.

Seau was obviously a man in inner turmoil and someone close to him should have intervened before it became fatal.

    Blog looks great!

Although all this pink on a football blog is to be questioned! It still looks great!

In my honest opinion Brock should be the #3 QB for this year. He is to raw and I would much rather have Haine step in if Manning goes down instead of Brock. That could hurt Brocks development if he does get thrown into games this year.

Willis McGahee’s biggest game in his renaissance season came at Oakland in Week 8, when he ran for 163 yards, of which 125 came on zone-read option plays. But he’s not eager to return to those days. “It’s like running on blind faith, you know what I mean?” he said. “Either you’re going to get the big run or you’re going to get hit. I’m not a fan of getting hit, but it was my job description and that’s what I had to do.”

Having a quarterback like Peyton Manning alters the leadership dynamic on the practice field from when Kyle Orton and Tim Tebow were around. “It’s different, because we didn’t really have that last year where the quarterback was demanding of us, telling us where he wanted us and just taking charge,” RB Willis McGahee said.

Heading into his 10th NFL season, RB Willis McGahee expects that his career will be lengthened simply because Peyton Manning is around. “I don’t have to take all that pounding anymore, because with Peyton out there, just being him, he’s going to take a lot of pressure off the run game,” McGahee said.

    TRB..

Mays is one of the best run stuffing LB’s in the league. Where he suffers is with his coverage where Burfict also suffers. Burfict was known for his run stuffing abilities and we are set with that. We just need 1-2 LB’s that can cover those big TE’s. We’re still going to get buried by those big TE’s by the Pats again. I hope not but it doesn’t look good!

  13. broncosfreak30 says:

Another bad sign about the Pats. We don’t have a good enough defense to stop their offense and they improved their defense drastically!! Glad we got Del Rio, hopefully him and Fox can come up with a Plan to stop them. Peyton will do his part but we have to help on defense!!! Hopefully VonDoom blow up that game with a little bit of Wolfe on the side!!!

  14. OrangeTsunami says:

freak – Fox and JDR were together in Carolina when that team had a VERY stout defense.. NE improved, but they’re still weak in the secondary, which plays into our hand. Btw, I think it’s gonna be a whole lotta Wolfe up the middle, together with VonDoom rushing from the edges!

  15. OrangeTsunami says:

As much as I love Chandler Jones, he is a developmental player, and I’ve been reading some not so great things about Hightower as well. I’m not putting either one in the HOF yet.. We will certainly see….

Sorry AB – didn’t mean to leave you hanging. My daughter called on Skype from Japan.

I hear what you are saying as far as giving Brock time to mature into the position. I don’t tend to put as much stock in that as some, but I understand it. I recall when Elway was lining up under Tackle, and was racking up that record that we are so fond of comparing with Tebow records, we still knew that we had a QB. (Sorry I misspelled Haine) I just want to see Brock on the field to be able to take a guess as to what the future holds. I don’t dislike Haine as much as some on the blog do. I think Haine is solid, and better than Orton, he’s just not the guy that can inspire a team and carry it to the promised land.

  17. jsizzla says:

I disagree with Hanie being the backup, that dude’s terrible. Just what we need another crappy Bears quarterback! That route didn’t work so well for us last time.

  18. jsizzla says:

Hell why don’t we just call up Grossman and Cade McNown and have all of them on our team!

  19. DaddyBronc says:

    Siz – LOL

  20. alaskanbronco06 says:

jsizzla im not arguing that Haine is a good QB. But I would much rather him start instead of Brock because Brock is a project and having him start will stunt his growth. Also to be honest we have a better chance and the moment to win with Haine instead of Brock.

Brocks our future QB who needs a lot of work and growth to do. We really shouldnt ruin that for him.

Also Haine is better than people think. He did decently in Chicago (Better than Orton and Grossman) without a good oline and no weapons. He didnt even have a good RB since Forte was out for most or all of Haine starts.

  21. DaddyBronc says:

Hanie wasn’t that bad – his o’line gave no protection and he had no receivers. Give him that and he’ll do fine. Not like Manning, Tebow, or
