Champ Bailey said after practice today that he is taking his injury day-by-day. Bailey injured his groin against the New England Patriots, and he hasn’t seen any game action since.
There was hope he could play last week, but he sat out the game. He participated on a limited basis in yesterday and today’s practice, so his status for this week is still up in the air.
“This thing is a tricky injury — it is something I have never dealt with,” Bailey said. “What I am trying to do is trying to work my way back in there as quick as I can, but trying to be patient at the same time.”
He said he sometimes feels like he’s not being accountable by not playing, but everything’s been made easier by the fact that the team has found a way to win twice in his absence.
“That is the good thing about all the games that I have missed in my career — we have only lost one,” he said. “That is great. Young guys get a chance to step up.”
ROYAL ANNIVERSARY
Sunday’s game against the Raiders marks the “anniversary” of Eddie Royal’s breakout game against Oakland the first time around.
Royal caught nine passes for 146 yards and a touchdown in the contest — a game that Brandon Marshall missed. A reporter asked Royal today if Marshall has been getting on him that he’s going to have to share those catches this time around.
“A little bit,” Royal laughed. “You know Brandon, he always wants the ball. But we’re having a great week of practice so far and we feel great going in.”
The rookie said he’s excited to be back home again after two consecutive road games.
“It’s always good to come home with our fans,” he said. “We’ve got the best fans in the league, so it’s going to be a tough place for Oakland to play. I’m excited to get back out there.”
MUSTARD’S BACK
The team got some bad news today when it was announced that Nate Jackson was put on injured reserve with a hamstring injury he suffered yesterday at practice.
The extra roster spot was filled when Chad Mustard was brought back to the team — the second time he’s been re-signed after being waived this season.
He said it has never crossed his mind to call it a career after he’s been waived.
“I think the guys that think that are the guys that don’t ever get back,” Mustard said. “I am still interested in playing football. I still have some games left in this old body of mine. I try and keep that attitude out of my head.”
Did it even cross his mind for a second to say no when the Broncos called?
“I am living the dream,” he said. “Who would turn that down?”

what the happened to jackson
jacob33: same thing that happens every year…

Nate Jackson injured his right hamstring in practice yesterday. If the injury had occurred earlier in the season, there might have been a chance he would have been able to come back, but since it’s already Week 12, the decision was made to place him on injured reserve.
Thank You for breaking it down to the simplest terms,It’s evident that someone could not make sense of the post !!! SHEEZ !!!
How about Scheffler? I see a picture. Does this mean he’s feeling better?
champ take your time we need you out there bad but not so bad that you rush back and end up reinjureing yourself and being lost for the season
what about selvin young?
Well Royal is not only a great football player but very smart too. You’re darn right Broncos fans are the best in the league!!! Go give these Faiders a reminder of week 1 on Sunday… let them know they are in the Mile High City and we own the place. I’m so excited!!!
As for Champ… I don’t want him to further aggrevate his injury so like I’ve said before if he’s not 110% I don’t want him out there. Sounds to me like he may not be ready quite yet to come back. However, I really hope he comes back by the Jets game or KC game. I miss seeing him out there and with him back on the field it would give our D even more confidence and security that we’ve got someone like Champ back in action. And I too hope Scheffler can come back soon. The more weapons Cutler has the more of a threat we are and the better we play.
Go get ‘em boys!!
GO BRONCOS!!!!
I think the key is the running game. If the safties are forced to play up on the line then Cutler will do what he was put on this earth to do and that’s throw the football. To much talent at receiver to contain them one on one. Now for the defense, same thing stop the run and the game’s in the bag. Hit them in the mouth, play physical for 60 minutes and last but not least, don’t over look anyone even the raiders. I’ll be at this game so let’s completely crush the raiders!
We need as many of starters back as we can get, i love how our rookie class has stepped up but this time of the season is where you need our vets to pull the team together and grind it out. But regardless like i said our rookie class is sure showing alot of depth. keep up the good work and we need all 53 guys in that locker room to beat the raiders this week end its important we show up to play cuz they will.
I hope Champ keeps his street clothes on again for this game.. even though you dont ever take any opponent lightly, i dont think the raiders have a recevier good enough to absolutely need Champ on the field.. i think its better the wait one more week and come back around 100% than to come back this week at ~80% and still have the groin nag you for a couple more weeks maybe even the remainder of the season.. oh AND THE PLAYOFFS!
GO BRONCOS!!!!!
I agree i would like to see CHAMP back against the raiders
(#1 raider hater) BUT we need him for the remainder of the season sit out 1 more GO BRONCOS
I agree with lynch4prez. I would like to see Champ out there . but really don’t think he should be out there yet. The Raiers are a troubled team right now. I’m not saying they are going to be push overs by any means. But i would hate to lose Champ on a team we can beat with out him. We are going to need him in the jets game even more. but if he feels he can go and be effective go for it.
Take your time Champ… Bell and Paymah have done well in your absence. You’ll need to be ready for our playoff run!!!
What’s up with Selvin Young ?? If he’s not quite ready, we do have Tatum Bell back !!!! I did read that P. J. Pope and Hillis were a little banged up last weekend, but nothing serious. We’ve got plenty of horses in the Barn!!
GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!
Ok give me ur advice on my theory. We either do a great job or give up a big play thanx to not having an outstandin safety so how bout we drop Champ back to safety since we have players who can fill his spot. i mean hes the best tackler. Also no 1 throws his way so were putting double the pressure on the other side so u put him in the middle he can be a huge zone on his own. pluss i wanna see him get a sack like lynch lol
did you guys here shanahan and cutler talk about namdi and he is a free agent next year i never heard shanny give anyone that much credit. The guy is the 2nd best corner in the league imagine next year having number one and two corners in the league. No one could pass on us think about it. They even say Namdi prefers to play right. Him on the right champ on the left that would be the best two corners on the field in the history of the game. i vote we all start voicing opinions to get him in free agency with that cap room
here my official vote
although that would be a dream come true.. your gonna be dropping a huge ~8-10 million a year contract for him and thats going to put a huge burden on getting decent talent at other positions and resignings of franchise guys we already have (Cutler, Marshall, Dumervil, Royal, Scheffler) and up and comers like Woodyard, Hillis, and Larsen would be next to impossible
That would be AWESOME!!!!… but like lynch4prez said… impossible for our franchise do do something like that…
Eddie Royal cannot be contained by the Faiders secondary. He just has an uncanny ability to get open against anyone. The Falcons, like everyone else, looked really frustrated trying to cover him. Hopefully, the photos are a sign that Scheffler and Selvin will play. The Broncos will pound the loser Raiders and then it’s on to the Jets.
so 0 votes lol?
Well I would “VOTE” for it but I’m just not sure if the franchise could handle it… I mean this guy will want BIG BUCKS and it’s not like the Broncs. will be his only option…
oh its worth it
convince him he wants to play with champ so he gets more passes thrown at him lol
Bailey should sit another week, we’ll need him healthy for the Jets.
Not all players want big buck. I mean, if cutler and Marshall know they can get someone of Nnamdi’s caliber, chances are they might take a pay cut. Some players prefer to put the team first and get a better chance at winning the ring.
If champ is not 100% but getting there, I say let him play at nickle to get some rust off. Not all play, but some, although, do what ever it take to get this guy back for the Jets game………..PLEASE!!!
lets go broncos get them raiders!!!
Champ I really wish you could be out there on Sun. but not if your not 100%.
Namdi is an outstanding corner but I think that we should use the money it would take to get him to get an outstanding safety. When our D is healthy the biggest problem is our safeties they plain stink.
I agree with BucknBronco…There isnt a healthy reciever on Oaklands roster that can contest with what we’ve got even without Bailey playing. Throw in a practically-rookie quarterback whos inaccurate and like to throw the ball deep and youve got a recipe for defensive success. If the Run D holds up and Cutler stays collected and dosent spray the ball around THIS WILL BE OUR FIRST SHUTOUT SINCE WE LAST PLAYED THE JETS!!!
Selvin is questionable r8r…let’s not forget we’d much rather have Champ for the playoffs..yes i said PLAYOFFS!!!!Take your time Champ, come back 100%!!
I sincerely hope Champ rides the pine on this one. I dont forsee any real deep ball threats on the Raiders team, and even if Russel is taking the snaps Im sure Dre is more then a match for him. And speaking of Dre lets not forget about him as a corner. Come on guys, Nomdi is a wet dream come true, but like Lynch4prez was saying we need to put our big money on our real talent we have now. As far as Young and Scheffler go, I feel the same way about them playing, if they are not 100% let em rest up for the Jets. Im confident that Bell and Pope can handle the run game, and i would really love to see Bell used as the primary in this one to get him back into game form for the Jets. All things considered though im sure Shanny will make the right calls on this, and im just excited to watch Denver run over the Raiders on sunday. GO BRONCOS!!!
Dang running_back_factory_fan, you must really like Namdi Asomougha lol
even if we were able to sign nambi we still need a major upgrade at pass rush.if we cant put pressure on the qb what good does it do to have the too best corners in the league
even though our pass rush right now is nothing to brag about i dont think we need to make it a top priority during the off season.. D-linemen seem to take longer to develop than most other positions.. theres only a hand-full of guys who come out of college and make an impact.. some of the top guys like, Jared Allen, Aaron Kampton, Kyle Vanden-Bosch and Albert Hanesworth just to name a few took 3-4 years to become impact guys.. we have a lot of young guys on the line and i think Thomas and Moss can become really good
lynch4prez you make a good point i also think those guys are going to develope into good players i also think crowder could be something someday especialy if we can get some stability at the d-cordinator[i still believe ted cottrel is looking for a job]all i was tyring to say is it dont matter who we got at db if we are not getting any kind of a pass rush so what good would it do to sign nambi if the opposeing qb has 12 seconds to wait 4 someone to get open?
