Atkins Signed To Future Contract

January 14th, 2010 - 3:05pm by Chris Gentilviso

The Broncos have signed outside linebacker/defensive end Baraka Atkins to a future contract. He will be officially added to Denver’s roster at the conclusion of the 2009 NFL season in February.

A fourth-year defensive end out of the University of Miami, Atkins entered the league as a fourth-round selection of the Seattle Seahawks in the 2007 NFL Draft. He was with Seattle from 2007-08, totaling 28 tackles and two sacks in 21 games. The 25-year-old was on the 49ers’ active roster in 2009, but did not appear in a game.

As a member of the Hurricanes, Atkins played in 49 games, totaling 45 starts, 175 tackles (84 solo), 18 sacks and nine pass breakups.

Hey guys, haven’t posted in a while, but I was wondering how u all feel about Kyle Orton. I supported him in the beginning, but the fact is that he fell short of expectations, and I’m not sure he’s the guy we want under center for the long term. I could handle him being the starter again next year, because he is careful with the ball and usually makes good decisions. However, he doesn’t seem to have the arm strength to consistantly throw the deep ball, or zip it into tight coverage. Just my opinion of course, but what do you guys think?

I think 09 just showed us Ortons potential. I dont think anyone can master McD’s system is just one season. Matt Cassel was around for more than a year so he was pretty familiar with it. That being said give Orton one more year to really build a bond with his team and the system.

But I would also like to see a lot more Brandstater in the pre season so we at least know what he has learned. He has learned from a QB that protects the ball so that should rub off on him to but he also a better arm than Orton.

We’ll just have to wait and see.

    FOREVER A BRONCOS FAN!!!

I always feel that everyone has a right to their own opinion. Except when someone says that they are going to change colors and start rooting for another team or maybe the franchise should up and move out just because it is having a few years of hard luck. And I believe that it is bad luck and that is all is right now. I believe that Coach McD. is going to turn this team around and we’ll be in the playoffs possibly in 2010 but for sure by 2011.
So milelows I’d have to say that your comment was made out of frustration and you didn’t really mean it, but if you did then get out while you’re still feeling like that.
I’m very proud to be rooting for one of the original AFL teams that has not moved or been renamed since it joined the AFL and later the NFL.
Sorry guys, I don’t express my feelings very well and should be more diplomatic when on this site, but some of these comments really tick me off. LOL!

GO BRONCOS and please Mr. B. don’t send this team someplace else.

I think Kyle Orten is to soft to be a good Nfl qb may be a kicker.
