Sounds like I missed out on some fun yesterday. baylinorcrush, thanks doesn’t even seem like it would justify your effort that you put into making this the best Broncos blog I’ve been on. You have fun little prediction contests that you don’t have to give away all of your life info to be part of, I get news on here from you and others before it is even on the websites, and it is fun discussing topics with everyone. Seems like if you go to other blogs it is just a bunch of people yelling and screaming about nothing. Anyway thanks for all you do here, you know, you should get your own blog on here..that would be totallay awesome!
They say that a high ankle sprain is sometimes worse than actually just breaking your ankle. Ankles are on of those injuries that can become a naggin injury so hopefully he fully recovers and it doesn’t become anything more.
With Royal out, wouldn`t we be short handed on P/KR`s. I know that Decker is good to go on PR but who`s our KR now?
Man, I guess they are all thinking back to what the lock-out has cost the team now. I know it is a mute point, but not having the proper preparation for a greulling season is beginning to rear its ugly head more and more every game. How many ankle or groin injuries has this been? answer: WAY to many!
What do we need a KR for….:-)
I would assume Vaughn would get the first crack at KR. Decker probably won’t handle the PR duties since Fox will be nervous about having another WR go down. Just my opinion though. I’d like to see Vaughn do both or have Ball take KR duties (KR is obviously less significant nowadays)
Brian, I`ve thought about this the other day. I get the Denver Post just to read about the new news about my Broncos each and every morning with a cup of coffee. Geesh, the way Bay keeps us informed I could save some money by cancelling my subscription. Heck I get the Denver Post on this Blog provided by Bay. I won`t cancell though, but I could if I wanted to. LOL
You guys missed my post at the bottom of last page, I have a feeling they will activate Goodwin from the PS and get him to help with the returns since he did a good job of that in preseason. Vaughn in the returns only if Bailey is back anyway.
Sounds like Fox doesn’t want to put TT back out there as a receiver.
Brian, good answer, DUH on my part. LOL
Thanks Brian.
Talking about Bailey:
Receiver Britt has been in constant legal trouble off the field but is averaging seven catches for 135.5 yards per game in the Titans’ 1-1 start!!!!
Not a week we can do without Bailey, next man up won’t be good enough to cover Britt.
Ya I missed that, I`ll go back and see what else I missed.
Fox said yesterday that he needs two more WR`s. No more Tebow at WR. But jokingly Fox gave Tim Tebow a 1000% effort AT WR with a chuckle. LOL
Here is the lowdown on Sharper’s visit today:
The Broncos will work out five- time Pro Bowl safety Darren Sharper today, but it would be a surprise if they sign him this week. Their interest would be if they need a safety later in the season.
So meaning like if Dawkins were to go down, makes much more sense that way, everybody has got their answer about the Sharper interview now.
We can’t just overlook Washington either he had 99 yards in last weeks game for the Titans. If Champ doesn’t play again this week, both of our CBs will get tested. We all saw what Green did to Goodman and I don’t think Goodman is good enough for anyone to shy away from his side, obviously.
Scratch that…I “know” Goodman isn’t good enough for a QB to shy away from his side.
Injury-riddled Broncos hope to get some key players back

Enough with next man up. Enough with
emergency fill-ins.
The Broncos got by with that philosophy for one
week. But after beating the Bengals 24-22
without five starters — and while losing two
more key offensive players during the game —
the Broncos are optimistic the focus this week
will be on who could come back in time for
Sunday’s game at Tennessee.
“Very hopeful,” coach John Fox said Monday
when asked if any of the players who missed the
Cincinnati game could be back this week.
Wide receiver Brandon Lloyd, defensive end Elvis
Dumervil, running back Knowshon Moreno and
linebacker D.J. Williams could return to practice
later this week. Lloyd’s return from a groin injury
is crucial for the Broncos after wide receiver
Eddie Royal and receiving tight end Julius Thomas
suffered injuries against the Bengals.
Royal, who strained his groin, will miss at least
two weeks. His injury might not be as serious as
feared — he spent several minutes lying on the
ground, needed help from two trainers to get off
the field and left the stadium on crutches — but
he could remain out until after the Broncos’ bye
week, returning Oct. 23 at Miami.
Thomas, a rookie fourth-round pick, suffered a
high ankle sprain after making his first career
catch and will also miss at least two weeks.
Thomas was wearing a boot on his right foot
Monday and still was using crutches to walk.
Fox said Monday the team would not go into
another game with only three active wide
receivers, which it was forced to do Sunday after
Lloyd’s groin injury flared again during pregame
warm-ups. That means the team will need to
add another receiver — no, not Tim Tebow — to
replace Royal in the lineup, at least for the next
few weeks. The Broncos have two candidates on
the practice squad in Eron Riley, the team’s
preseason receiving leader, and rookie D’Andre
Goodwin.
The team can bring in veteran free agents for
workouts today or wait until the weekend to
make a roster move with a player from the
practice squad.
“I hope we don’t have to repeat (Sunday’s) depth
chart,” Fox said.
Injuries have depleted the Broncos’ roster since
early August, when the team lost two starting
defensive tackles in one training camp practice.
Sunday’s inactive list included just about every
big name on the team’s roster, save for the
quarterbacks and Brian Dawkins. Knock on wood.
Backups such as Jason Hunter at defensive end,
Cassius Vaughn at corner, Wesley Woodyard at
linebacker and Eric Decker at wide receiver
performed admirably. Decker scored two
touchdowns against Cincinnati. But coaches and
players understand there is only so long they can
survive with so many of their best players on the
sidelines.
“It gives us confidence, and gives coaches
confidence in the guys that stepped in,”
defensive end Robert Ayers said. “When we get
those guys back, we’ll be better. If we get
healthy and keep improving, we’ll be pretty
good.”
Fox said after Royal and Thomas were injured,
coaches scrambled to put together a
“hodgepodge of personnel groups.”
“I thought it was a character, toughness type of
win,” Fox said.
Lindsay H. Jones:
Whittled-down wideouts
Remember when wide receiver was a position of
depth for the Broncos? Injuries have hit so hard
at receiver that
Brandon Lloyd
Status: Day to day recovering from groin injury
suffered Sept. 12 vs. Oakland. Team hopes he
will be able to return for Sunday’s game against
Tennessee.
Eric Decker
Status: Star in the making after scoring two
touchdowns Sunday in his first career start.
Eddie Royal
Status: The starting slot receiver is expected to
miss two to four weeks after straining his groin
muscle Sunday.
Matthew Willis
Status: Healthy and has caught three passes for
28 yards in two games. Also plays on special
teams.
Daniel Fells
Status: Starting tight end was targeted twice,
catching one pass for 9 yards Sunday. Has four
catches this season.
Julius Thomas
Status: The team’s “receiving” tight end suffered
a high ankle sprain after making his first career
catch Sunday. He is wearing a protective boot
and is expected to miss at least two weeks.
Virgil Green
Status: The rookie has yet to get thrown a pass
but had strong receiving numbers in college.
With Thomas out, he could play more of a role
for the offense.
Vaughn is such a burner. I’d love to see him get the ball in his hands more on special teams. Outlook on Bailey appears optomistic so hopefully Vaughn will fill that role.
I hope Riley gets activated, thought he showed a lot of promise as a wideout this preseason. Either way, it’ll be a great opportunity for himself or Goodwin.
Bailey on Britt is a must. So whatever the Bailey covering the slot idea was this preseason is hopefully tossed out the window for this week. Goodman just can’t hang with top wideouts at this stage in his career.
Hey, I’m better than the DP you guys, LOL, look at what they printed this morning:
The Broncos are hoping to return Brandon Lloyd to the lineup against Tennessee and they likely will promote a practice squad receiver, either Eron Riley or D’Andre Goodman, this week.
D’andre Goodman, LMAO, try Goodwin, haha.
Well, we all have said you should go to work for them. Maybe they hire free lance writers?
See I think you’re a more reliable source baylinocrcush.
Nice change of schedule, I agree 100% with that approach:
The Broncos will leave after their practice Friday for Nashville, one day earlier than usual for a road trip. Fox will have his team leave a day early on several trips this year.
“We are trying to be at peak performance on Sunday, so just to get the trip out of their systems and feel a little bit better on that second night’s sleep,” he said.
Remember when McD took his team to London at the last minute and SF had been there for days, what a moron.
Prediction bay, Broncos 27 Titans 20
wish i would have gotten decker for my fantasy team last week he was available lol thought lloyd was going to play
but hey we won so who cares go broncos!
Darren Sharper is a STUD player!!! I never understood how that guy seemed to migrate from team to team??? He get sooo many take aways and he has some SUPERBOWLS under his belt to boot! I hope they sign him and play him – assuming he is in shape!
GO BRONCOS!!!
I see some guys this morning posting predictions like 5 blogs back!!! All I can say is you guys are extremely lucky I went back that far, usually won’t do that, so do yourselves a favor and try to post your predictions on the latest blog or at least nearest to that or you will be just flat left out.
24-21 Broncos win!
Ok, 3 blogs back, but anyway, same thing, talk about getting lost in the shuffle…
Gonna be a tough test against the Titans……always a tough game for our team down there. But one positive…..at least the fans in the stadium won’t be cheering for Tebow to come into the game! lol
Holding off on my prediction until the eleventh hour and I can get a better look at the injury report. As others have said already, if we don’t have Champ in there, it’s gonna be a long long day for our CBs. Goodman can’t keep up…..or tackle for that matter……
I would also like to see more of a pass rush this game. It was something that was advertised and anticipated during the off-season but I haven’t really seen much of it yet. Hasselback is the type of QB who will make poor decisions if hurried so we need to capitalize on that.
I can also anticipate a steady dose of run and I think our D is improving in that area each game…….but there’s still lots of room for improvement…..lots of room all around for that matter.
No-Show might be back though……..he will be the saviour at RB in this game…..prob rush for like 200 yards!!!! LOL Keep giving the rock to McGahee…I like his style of running cause he actually runs, not dance.
No armadillo rant yet today……..but I’m sure it’s coming. hmmmmm wonder what it’ll be about today?
haha killer…three guesses and first two don’t count!
At least armadillo doesn’t insult bloggers, just players and coaches, LMAO!
Here is Tenn. injury report for last week. So we can probably look for these questionables on here to be playing this week.
Hayes, William DE Shoulder questionable
Hope, Chris S Shoulder doubtful
Jones, Jason DT Knee probable
Morgan, Derrick DE Knee probable
Ringer, Javon RB Back probable
Washington, Nate WR Not Injury Related
Williams, Damian WR Hamstring questionable
hey bay this week i think denver wins 23 to 20
Here are some excerps from an article on Titans web thought you might find interesting…
The Titans rebounded Sunday with the offense holding the ball 35 minutes, 52 seconds – longer than in any game dating through the 2010 season, when they ranked last in time of possession. Hasselbeck, who didn’t practice with Tennessee until Aug. 4 because of the labor deal, threw for 358 yards, the most yards by a Titans’ quarterback against the Ravens and more than Tennessee had in a game last season.
***********************
Munchak had no problem going to the air with Baltimore focused on stopping Johnson and the run. Kenny Britt caught nine passes for 135 yards and a touchdown, just one of nine Titans to catch a pass from Hasselbeck. The veteran even found fullback Quinn Johnson for a 13-yard completion on fourth-and-1 as the Titans nearly ran out the clock to seal the victory.
***********************
On defense, cornerback Cortland Finnegan set the tone early on defense, knocking balls loose from receivers with big hits and tipping away three passes, including one to teammate Jason McCourty for one of three turnovers forced. Tennessee also hit Joe Flacco eight times, including three sacks, and they smothered the Ravens in giving up 229 yards total offense.
Good stop by the defense after the Offense took the ball with 3:53 left in the game and went 3 and out.
Everyone stepped up at critical times, at least enough to pull out a w.
One major problem I am seeing by a lot of folks. Last week, we lose by 3 and how many were commenting, hey we only lost by 3? Well if losing by only 3 is supposed to be comforting than winning by 2 should not be anything special.
Not one particular player won this game. That Monday night, there was one particular player who throw an interception at the end of the half and then dropped the ball. Those are two attributed solely to him, not one other person caused those two things to happen on our offense.
25 passes, 2 td and no interceptions is not single handedly doing anything. So que the anti-Orton crowd to stay anti-Orton for the time being.
I am not sure what you guys are seeing in Cassius Vaughn. He was getting beat as badly as Goodman. These guys are not the cerebral players that Champ is. They are reactionary only. It is alittle scary going up against Hassleback in a Titans uniform. Granted last time we faced him we had 3 interceptions; but that was when we were healthy. It should be a great game. I will wait to see who is healthy the make my pick. But let it be know that I (along with the optimistic majority) picked the Broncos to beat the Bengals last week.
I am trying not to get overly zealous anti_Orton, but it is jsut so difficult watching those two touch down passes.
- First and only read, WR gets open and scores. Sure Decker didn’t throw the ball to himself, but it is not like Orton had to scramble, duck under a blitzing LB on either one.
So, to say that Orton improved from week one, would be just to acknowledge he did not throw an int to a Saftey coming over the top. (which the 52 yd pass to Decker was the hardest he could have possibly thrown the ball yet still behind him, which luckily attributed to it turning into a TD) .
I thought it was a great throw. Good location, but thinking back to the INT that Monday Night, I now have to wander, skill or luck? The jury’s out.
Final thoughts on Orton week 2. Still the QB I thought he was, however two fewer major mistakes and we win.
Why he still does not impress me with fewer mistakes, is that is his game. Only trying to be mistake free, you see it in how he plays scared. Not good, we are not talking about a wild QB that makes crazy things happen and just needs to calm down a little bit (a young John Elway and future Tebow). So to say that he improved is not quite accurate, he just played to his “concept” of a good game.
And beating another 4-12 team from last year by two. Just may be a slight indication that this year, we are not much better than that 4-12 team of last year.
Two of the greatest improvments as a team last week.
We went in wanting to stop the run. We were successful enough to build from it. I care not what people may say about Cincy, but their run game is no joke. We tipped our hats way to much and they game planned for it, passing.
We went in wanting to run the ball. Not in the most impressive way, but we were successful enought to build from it.
These are two example following the motif, that we are going to be a team that can run and stop the run. Even though our schedule this year doesn’t reflect that that will win us ball games. It is the start of a foundation. A few rocks in the concret but the frame did not break this week as it did that Monday Night.
*this year doesn’t reflect that it will win us ball games
@Bay my worthless prediction sure to go wrong Denver 17 Tennessee 24 Just not sure about our D being able to stop the run
I will give Orton a pass on the fumble last week. In that situation, it happens. A DE coming around the end and getting a hand on the ball while the QB is looking deep down-field. Yes, that happens and to blast him for it seems a little odd considering it happens to the best of em.
Hoping this comment makes post. I just want to say if our defense can get to 100% healthy, it will be very dangerous. I really like what I’m seeing out of Von Miller. He plays really smart and doesn’t let the emotions of the game get the best of him especially against rivalries. Go Broncos!!!
For the record, it should be known that Fox’s style of play is not my favorite. I don’t approve of his outdated approach, but it is the vision he has for the team and until he has the full opportunity to build the foundation with the personnel that he wants to institute his schemes. Here I will sit and wait and hope his “NFL Level” intelligence proves this “dumb peon” wrong.
stevecan2, I don’t remember, but I think the announcers even talked about how long he held the ball. Good runners get down field pretty fast and holding that ball over three or four seconds is asking for trouble. I think he held it a pretty long time.
Now this is a QB with something to prove other than hoping for a damn contract. His heart has been questioned and this is how he responds.

No doubt seweatherman1,
I did not attack Clady for letting him get to Orton either. And I hope that the pro-Orton anti-Oline herd will also not blame Clady. There is more to the O-line issues than has been given credit on these blogs, I will make my opinion known further down the road if the trend continues.
He went back in the game with this when he saw his back-up not working out. He just went and got his helmet and told them he was going back in. I thought that was amazing. They suspected he had fractured ribs but he ignored all of that and went in and played.
O-line can only hold for so long. Then you start getting yellow flasgs all over the place for holding penalties. Nope, not the o-line or Clady’s fault.
Please keep the Tony Homo stuff off of this site
Just relax it was the 49ers! what was the 49ers record last year? Yep they stink
