An Interesting New Depth Chart…

August 25th, 2008 - 11:13am by Adam Zinser

The Broncos released a new and updated depth chart Saturday, with some interesting changes on it.

The starting lineup remains the same on offense, with Eddie Royal continuing to hold onto that #2 wideout spot opposite Brandon Marshall. But Glenn Martinez has moved up behind Marshall.

Nate Jackson remains at the #2 spot behind Daniel Graham, with Scheffler at the #3. Jackson has worked with Graham in the team’s two-tight end sets, and he started on Friday against the Packers, scoring a touchdown in the process.

Peyton Hillis holds onto the #2 fullback spot behind Cecil Sapp. He saw significant action Friday night and performed well.

On defense, Marquand Manuel is listed as the starter opposite Marlon McCree. Hamza Abdullah mans the #2 spot behind Manuel, with Roderick Rogers and Josh Barrett behind him, in that order.

Vickiel Vaughn is at #2 behind McCree.

Also, Brett Kern is listed as the starting punter.

You can check out the full depth chart here.

What do y’all think about the changes and how things have progressed?

I find it interesting that Lichensteiger has been changed from Center, where he played in college, to Guard. But, Ben Hamilton was initially Nalen’s backup until so many guards went down that he had to be switched.
Also hard to beleive that Kern is number one punter. Was Peliouso (sp) that bad in practice or what? Kern’s propensity of having punts blocked has already surfaced once. ??????
Looks like none of the free-agent WR receivers have panned out.
It will be intersting to see the cuts on Wednesday. Probably no surprises.

I was hoping to see colbert higher in WR, and will D Jack start at reciever the first 2 weeks while Marshall is suspended?

Glenn Martinez is not a good wide receiver, he is a waste of a roster spot IMO. Last year he was a a player who performed well occassionally but not well enough to move to the number 4 wide out, looks like either Colbert or D-Jack are on their way out if Martinez is moving up and that is a shame.

Why do you guys think Domenik Hixon didnt work for us? He is a stud in NY.

If Glen is listed as behind Marshall, does that mean he’ll start against the raiders?

No Way that happens!! its pre season and shanny wants to look at different people and see where they are at. hence forth moving them up a spot for the game. depth charts change like underwear. D jack is safe he just has been nursing a sprained ankle and I am sure shanny is comfortable with him and he is a vet so you dont necessarily have to see him play in preseason. I am sure he want to be sure he has a healthy D Jack with Marshall being out. As long as we Have Marshall Royal D jack And Stokley as recievers we will be alright. I am seriously concerned with RB.

The RB situation is the scariest one IMO. I mean how do you Narrow it down.

You have to love Young and Hall. but past that everyone is great. Alridge is a serious weapon with his speed and athleticism you hate to loose him, and Torain could be our next TD we dont know yet. You hate to cut pittman but might have to. Sapp is solid I guess. And Hillis is a beast so you definately want him. but there is only 5 maybe six spots. what do you do ?????????????
