As the Broncos enter the bye week, players and coaches will have the chance to relax and rejuvenate, but also improve on various aspects of their games.
For Defensive Coordinator Dennis Allen, he believes that his unit needs to play at a high level more consistently during games.
“It’s getting back to being consistent — doing the right thing over and over,” Allen said. “We’ve worked on that the last couple of days, and we’re going to continue that throughout the rest of the season. I’ve seen a lot of improvement in a lot of different areas, and I think there are a lot of things that we have to get better at.”
Allen said that the defense played approximately 80 snaps last week against San Diego. On about 65 of those plays, the defense played “pretty good.” But he said it’s those 15 plays that have cost the defense, especially last week.
“There were a few snaps in the game that we didn’t play good enough, and at the end of the day against good teams they will exploit that and make big plays,” Allen said. “We have to try to eliminate those things.”
Allen said that there isn’t one particular player who repeatedly makes mistakes. Rather, it is the unit as a whole.
“On each individual play, you can look at a guy here or a guy there,” Allen said. “I don’t think it’s been any one individual that has really stood out. Like I said, we have to be more consistent across the board — coaching, playing, everything — and keep getting better.”
Allen said he and the rest of the coaching staff can do a better job putting the defense in a position to succeed, but the players can also improve on their execution.
“We’ve got to do our job as coaches and give them the best plan, make it simple enough for them to get lined up and execute,” Allen said. “As players, (they) have to understand what (their) job is and be able to decipher what the offense is doing and react to it and go make plays.”

GO BRONCOS!
Nonse, by all means, keep sharing.
Our Defense should be better just by Tebow,Royal, and maybe D.Thomas helping the Offense stay on the field more….I like Dennis Allen,I think he will make a Helluva DC!!!
Not trying to defend the Defense tho, they definitely need to tackle better and get to the ball faster!
No pics of Orton
No pics of Quinn
Life is good!
LMAO@bay
In pic #6…….Tebows telling LLoyd…Whoah stop right there, now Ortons over there on the bench, run the routes I tell you to,I can stay on my feet long enough to get you the ball brother,LMAO.
For a Bye week we have gotten a good amount of blogs … didn’t even know that teams practiced in bye week. Anyway a big thx to the Blog staff for keeping me entertained. Can never get enough broncos news.
I looking for consistency too brother. And like he said 65 of those plays were pretty good. Maybe if we can actually sustain drives, keep our D fresh and off the field and put up points … the D will be able to only play that good 65 lol. But its not just them on the field to much altho probability of messing up increases the more u are out there. They need to tackle better and handle thier gaps and assignments. I know our Run D isn’t top notch but we get burned on the deep ball alot peaking into the back field Nelson and Packers Floyd and Chargers to name a few plays this year. Also can we trade Orton for somethign … please … there got to be something we can get for him. But then again it sounds like a bad idea to trade Orton to a team u play the following week … cuz the man knows the whole freaking playbook and can pretty much tell them our whole game plan lol. So trade will definitely not happen. At least not to the Dolphins but we sure could use a DT or mid to late round pick … anything.
Royal is back and im loving it. Julius thomas should be back by next weeks practice … and maybe DMT … he is good for only about 6 games a season so lets get our 6 out of him before he gets hurt again lol. TRB
Gonna really need Quinton Carter to step up. TRB
Has Orton been cut yet?! HaHa!1
Time for their bye. Enjoy yourselves until you get back on Tuesday.
I really like Orton as a back-up. If he can really work to support Tebow and forget starting – he could make some money in coaching. Kubiak anyone? Maybe not.
I think we’ll pretty much know what we have in Tebow within the next two weeks. For me … I couldn’t care less if he wins. Tebow stirs up some of the most entertaining football I’ve ever seen in 40 year of being a fan. Against Miami – Tebow should win. Orton probably would have won. Don’t think they ought to throw all the wide outs at Tebow in first start. Might over complicate things. I’d love to see a blow-out that has the game won before the half.
What a thing of beauty it will be if Tebow can beat the 6 and 0 lions. If that 4th quarter thing (against SD) shows up for four quarters. Wow! we have us a season and Fox will get down on his knees and publicly apologize to the fans for installing Orton and making us endure 4.5 games.
BFE & Bay!
