After Bye, Broncos Anxious for Football

January 7th, 2013 - 4:43pm by Sam Davis

The Broncos benefited from their weekend off by getting a jumpstart on their preparation from the comfort of their own homes.

After a week of practice and no game, watching other teams play added to the players’ excitement to get back on the field.

“It was a combination of relaxing, but some anxiousness,” wideout Eric Decker said. “You want to be out there playing, especially playoff football. This is the best time of the year. This is what you wait for and this is what you play for. It was fun to be able to rest physically and mentally and enjoy some football, but now focus on our opponent.”

Watching the Ravens beat the Colts in the Wild Card Round was only the beginning of the team’s film-viewing, but Decker was able to come away with some early observations — particularly regarding the strength of Baltimore’s situational defense.

“They did a good job versus Indy last night,” Decker said. “Situational football is going to win you games and third downs, red area, those are things where it swings a game from three to seven points. We’re going to focus on those areas and make sure that we’re executing at a high rate.”

After having the weekend off — save for a Saturday morning lift – the team is itching to get back to work. Cornerback Chris Harris said he watched Denver’s potential opponents play during the weekend, but it only added to the anticipation.

“This team is hungry,” Harris said. “It’s not fun watching other teams. I’m ready to play. I can’t wait until Saturday.”

  3. socalbigbroncofan says:

  5. DaddyBronc says:

Game hasn’t started – why is the blog dead?

I’m picking Abalama by 14 pts.

    Roll Tide!!!

  6. oldsouthstander says:

DB: appreciate the correction on Ray Lewis.

  7. RH709 says:

    I just say a poll on nfl.com

The poll said, which wild card winner has the best chance of the upset in the divisional round?
The highest was Ravens at 55%.

Love that for some reason every still counts us out. What gives?

  8. DaddyBronc says:

My response was more toward Cat than you OSS. As usual I was plugging for a little blog activity. No takers…

RH – that’s the hardest part of being a Bronco fan!

  9. RH709 says:

    These referees are terrible

  10. RH709 says:

Ok. ND looks heavily outmatched and the defense looks lost.

  11. strandoftds82 says:

ND doesn’t have an answer towards Alabama’s Offense.

  12. tlcat06 says:

He plead guilty to lying to cops. His suit from that night has never been found.

Also, has paid money to the families affected. Who would just give away money to somebody who he has no connection to? Not like I am going to give DB thousands of dollars “just because.”

Y’all told me that Big Ben basically said he did it after he paid those girls off. Of course it’s just my opinion, but I’m not in line to say that Ray Lewis is a good role model or someone I would want my kids or students to look up to.

  13. strandoftds82 says:

    Eddie Lacy has some moves!

  14. alaskanbronco06 says:

Cat Ray Lewis gave money to families affected by tragedies many times. A few years ago there was a boy whose parents were killed and Ray Lewis practically adopted the boy. Never met him just heard the story and went and visited the boy and basically became a father figure.

Multiple players donated money to 9/11 relief funds, families of those affected by Hurricane Sandy, families of those who lost someone at the Aurora theater or Sandy Hook elementary. In all those cases they gave money to someone they didnt know affected by a tragedy.

Also Big Ben admitted to having sexual contact with the victim then he pays here to keep things out of the courts.

  15. alaskanbronco06 says:

Also the thing with Big Ben happened twice.

  16. OTbroncos says:

Shame on me for expecting (hoping for) a good game tonight… My Alabama blood has me smiling!

  17. tlcat06 says:

    My niece: Go Broncos!!!
    My brother-in-law: No, “Go Titans!”
My niece: NO DADDY! GO BRONCOS!

I create terror for my brother-in-law even when I haven’t seen my niece in person since summer.

I agree with her though! :)

  18. OTbroncos says:

RH – those poll results on nfl.com have since changed, Ravens only at 13% now.

  19. tlcat06 says:

AB, I don’t agree with you or see it like you do. I don’t like the guy any more than you like Big Ben.

  20. strandoftds82 says:

ND just might lay a big goose egg. LOL

  21. strandoftds82 says:

    Is it Saturday yet?!

  22. strandoftds82 says:

Ticat06, just think! After Saturday early evening, Ray Lewis will be giving his goodbye speech 20 minutes after the game is over and saying goodbye to the NFL all because of the Denver Broncos ending his season. It’ll be over and you won’t have to listen or watch that funky dance of his or whatever he calls it. His season and career will end Saturday, guaranteed!

  23. tlcat06 says:

    I can’t wait.

  24. strandoftds82 says:

    Even Man

  25. strandoftds82 says:

    Even Manti Teo looks lost!

  26. OTbroncos says:

My boss is a Jets and ND fan… LOL!

  27. strandoftds82 says:

That earlier post I just put up, LOL, I was typing and I must of hit the send button on accident. weird!

  28. strandoftds82 says:

I like the RB Lacy a lot!

  29. tlcat06 says:

OT that’s rough rough rough… Did you offer a seat on the Bronco bandwagon?

  30. strandoftds82 says:

And thats why I want Barret Jones. Just like these commentators have spoken. He’d be great on our O-line.

  31. OTbroncos says:

Nah, we don’t want him cat. He’s kind of a jerk..

  32. strandoftds82 says:

    ND is going backwards. LOL

  33. tlcat06 says:

Oh, then he can be depressed and wallow in self pity!!

    WYOMING IS RANKED!!!!!!

  34. strandoftds82 says:

Our Broncos are favored by 9 1/2 LOL

  35. tlcat06 says:

I don’t care that it’s just the coaches poll… It’s about dang time.

  36. OTbroncos says:

We got a game folks! Haha

  37. tlcat06 says:

For all the favoring of 9 1/2 out there… Notice that they’re all talking about the Ravens and not us. Even this morning they asked who has more to prove, Ray Lewis or Peyton Manning? When is the last time Ray Lewis beat Peyton Manning NFL? Hm… It might be ages.

  38. strandoftds82 says:

Let them vote all they want. The game is played on the field.

  39. strandoftds82 says:

The Ravens will be soon extinct, just like the Doo Doo Bird. LOL

  40. tlcat06 says:

It is going to be freezing on Saturday. 22 degrees and snowing. Thank God for that glove ;)

  41. alex4serg says:

    no bbbp results yet?

  42. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Id still trade our first this year and next year for Manti Teo regardless lol. Especially if we win the superbowl this year and plan to do so again next year lol. Either way … i see us having low picks for a while lol. Throw in a 2nd too if needed lmao

    TRB

  43. OTbroncos says:

    Call the National Guard…. Lol

  44. RH709 says:

We need a MLB but not that much. I can wait to see who is around at 32.

  45. DaddyBronc says:

    The Tide…rollllllled!

  46. manning4mvp says:

So looking forward to Saturday’s game…our Offensive line should be able to protect Manning for us to win .Peyton can throw and adjust his formation at the line in response to the tough Defense infront of him…Ravens D cannot outsmart our Great QB…Go also yo our Broncos defense,go get some takeaways, pressure Flacco and lets score early! Go Bronocs and lets win this!!

  47. strandoftds82 says:

I wanna see our D get another pick 6 or two. Hey, I’m selfish. LOL

  48. sndvl says:

Yikes. Tough game to watch. ND was not ready. And completely outplayed.

Looks like all those banquets Te’o attended, didn’t leave any time to work on his tackling. Ouch. TRB, after that performance, we may not have to trade a lot. Lol

As for our Broncos- looks like we’re just gonna have to keep winning to get the respect from the masses.

    GO BRONCOS!!!

  49. WieminCA says:

Remember – the price for winning the Super Bowl is giving up next years first round draft choice … but then – we get the first pick in all succeeding rounds! … at least, that’s the way I look at it …
