With less than 10 minutes left in regulation, the 49ers grabbed their first lead of the game, 26-24, on a fourth David Akers field goal.
The 32-yard kick capped off a nine-play, 49-yard drive highlighted by a 27-yard Rock Cartwright run.
On the final third down of the possession, rookie defensive lineman Malik Jackson hit quarterback Scott Tolzien on a scramble up the middle and forced a fumble, but San Francisco recovered and kicked the field goal on the next play.
