AB, it might be that working for family you were more apt to take a cut. In the world I live in if I was cut 35% I would have starved and I feel that a contract is a contract.
Wolfe that was actually my point. People and circumstances are different depending on the person.
For the record Alaskan, there are varying level of paycuts. 35 percent as opposed to like 10 percent. The point never the less was you wouldnt be thrilled … yes you have the option too and did (much like doom). But if u decided to take the paycut and your company did hear back from you in time and fired you, and another company was trying to hire you would you not listen to what the other company has to say? At the end of the day you will make your decision as to where to go but u would most likely listen to other offers. Heck while employed id probably listen to other offers.
And raiders were an example. All may not take it but the vast majority would. Whether it be the raiders or any other football organization … the destination isnt the point. The point is a team u love offers u less than any team u don’t love. Same jobs. Same growth potential. Same everything. Chances are u take the other job. Especially if you have a family to support. Other things will come into factor like location etc etc. But my point wasn’t ALL would … but MOST would. There are no 100% gaurantees in life except death.
We will see what doom has to say about this contract. You can love an organization and its players and go elsewhere … ask welker. Especially if the other pays more (and also has the level of competitiveness u seek)
TRB
TRB if I was fired and knew they wanted me back no I wouldnt listen to other offers from other places. Again different circumstances and different people.
Well kudos to u. must really love where u work
TRB,you failed to talk about the almost 5 million the Broncos ate, because of Doom’s agent…that’s like paying him that money already this year, after all the Broncos lost that money.I wouldn’t even think about hiring a man back that cost me 5 mil and then tried to get offers from other teams!
BTW we paid Doom 31 million the last 2 seasons, isn’t like his family will starve.
new blog
Dooms agent not doom. Regardless the 5 mill was something they were willing to eat when they were threatening to cut him. So it was already a possibility for the broncos.
Also the 5 mill isn’t actual money lost. Just cap space. For bonuses already paid to him or something to that effect not sure maybe someone can clarify. But he didnt actually LOSE them money.
Also read my posts again … at the end of the day … never matters how much u make … have someone tell you they wanna take 35 percent of your check u will not be happy. And yea about 30 mil which like ive been saying breaks down to 10 million a year. Thats the real point .. no one is willing to just easily give away part of their check but he did eventually. Just not in time. Doom actually cost em nothing. Agent didn’t either if u really think about it. Broncos cost themselves that ammount cuz they gave out the contract and already had a plan for cutting him if he didn’t agree so they are sitting in a senario they already expected to possibly be in
Just remembered my home team
