The Denver Broncos hit the practice field at Dove Valley Wednesday morning for one last walkthrough before their first preseason game Thursday night at 6:30 MT in Dallas.
“I’m excited to watch them play,” Head Coach John Fox said. “I’m excited every day but this will be my first time watching they play live. I’m excited about it. We’ve got new faces, new guys to me, new guys to the coaching staff. We’ve got a complete new defense going in so it’s a good measuring stick to see where you are.”
The team leaves for Dallas Wednesday afternoon, but before they do, they had some loose ends to tie up in the morning practice.
ROLL CALL
Linebackers D.J. Williams, Nate Ivring and Derek Domino, cornerback Syd’Quan Thompson and defensive tackles Louis Leonard and Mitch Unrein, tight end Richard Quinn all did not practice. Williams didn’t practice the first week of camp with a thigh injury, but returned to full pads on Monday. Head Coach John Fox said that he hasn’t made the decision yet on who will be inactive for Thursday’s game.
Receivers Eddie Royal and Brandon Lloyd both practiced after sitting out Tuesday.
DAILY JUKEBOX
Here are the songs the team played during the stretching period.
1. “Fortunate Son” – Creedence Clearwater Revival
2. “Yeah Ya Know” – T.I.
3. “Rockin’ In The Free World” – Neil Young
PRACTICE NOTES
Most of the practice revolved around running various full-team sets, but before that there was an individual drill period. During this time, the position groups broke off and did their own exercises. The running backs were notable, as they did a drill that worked on catching the ball near the sideline. They would run directly towards the sideline, a coach would throw a 10-yard pass, and they would have to catch it with two feet in bounds.
The defense spent five minutes in a circle working on personnel assignments. Defensive Coordinator Dennis Allen would shout different packages and players would go from one side of the circle to the other depending on if they were supposed to be on the field for that package or not. One hypothetical that Allen threw out was, “Ty Warren has a hangnail. Who’s going to come in?” With a new coaching staff in place and the first game on Thursday, it’s important that players and coaches are on the same page.

Rookie quarterback Adam Weber got an unusual amount of reps today as he was running the scout team offense. A lot of the scrimmage portion was devoted to the first and second team defense preparing for Dallas’ offense. Safety Kyle McCarthy had an interception during this period, as did cornerback Andre’ Goodman.
Quarterback Kyle Orton got several reps as well, which included a long touchdown pass to tight end Daniel Fells over the top of the defense.
Tebow also had a touchdown pass, this one on a 35-yard pass to receiver Matt Willis.
Tebow said that his comfort level with the offense has increased dramatically since his rookie year last year.
““I don’t think there’s really much of a comparison as far as my knowledge of the offense, my ability to make decisions,” Tebow said. “I hopefully make better decisions now, and just feeling more comfortable at the offense, obviously there are still things that I need to work on and improve on, and I feel I am getting there.”

The team practiced recovering onside kicks at the end of practice. Receiver Mark Dell and tight end Dan Gronkowski were included on the all-hands team and Dell caught a few kicks.
After practice, the team spent about 15 minutes going over and walking through their pregame routine.
“You can’t assume anything,” Fox said. “It was our first walkthrough and will be the only time we ever do it. It’s just so they understand what we’re doing during the pregame process.”

QUICK HITS
Tebow and linebacker Wesley Woodyard clearly enjoyed the first song, as they danced to “Fortunate Son” during the stretching period.

Running back Willis McGahee and defensive tackles Ty Warren and Marcus Thomas knelt together as the team did special teams drills.
Leonard and Unrein went over technique on the east field as the team ran through various sets on the west field.
After Thursday’s game, the team has Friday off and will return to the practice field at Dove Valley Saturday at 8:50 a.m. in a practice that is free and open to the public.
See below for more photos of today’s practice.

GO Broncos! CAN’T wait to see football again! I’ve never been this excited about pre-season!
I concur O&B! I’m ready for some football!
Raheem Moore cares about the fans.
Champ, Miller, Goody, and DOOM care about the fans…Bdawk deffinitly cares. And…Tebow Cares
So far through came we been real lucky, I know last year a big part of our problem was injuries. It looks like our team has starting quality of depth at every position. Thus Im actually excited to watch preseason, to see all this talent, from both starters and backups.
May our Broncos have a safe and successful trip!
GO BRONCOS!!!
If I may steal a line from a fellow Broncomaniac…..GO GET’EM BOYS!!!!!
I’d like to see Doom and Miller have a Romo sandwich, lol.
I think the broncos will be better then what people think this year.
I hope Syd’Quan can play tomorrow. I really want to see what he can do this year. If he performs like he is performing in TC, we have a future Shutdown Corner in the making. IMO. Hands down, my favorite draft pick from the McD “error”.
Broncos 17 Cowboys 14
Question for anyone with Direct Tv….. Are you able to catch the preseason games on it if you have the NFL Ticket?
Predictions!
Broncos 21 – Dallas 17
The preseason games are not on The Nfl Ticket. If you can’t catch it live locally they replay them on NFL Network. When I last checked Broncos-Cowboys is being shown at 11:00pm EDT/9:00pm MDT on Friday night.
Hody Freakin’ Bronco Doody Guys an Gals!
Well, it’s here! Finally…we got down to business. You know what is so exciting about this year? For me it’ll be great to see how excited the new staff is to be Broncos! Consistantly seeing Elway plastered all over everything that has a Bronco emblem on it! LOL! It’s going to be awesome to see #92 reak HAVOC in backfields again and THIS TIME……with a partner in crime..VMILL!
How about Moreno and is ability to have a dynamic duo of his own in Mcgahee?
Oh…and let’s not forget about our boys Orton and Tebow! Look, to me I want the best man to get the job! If that’s Orton then I say let’s stay rock solid around him, trust in the coaching staff while staying equally positive for Tim to learn! Learn Mr. Tebow…I for one think you can be a heck of a QB in this league! if it’s not right at the moment, it’ll come and when it does you’ll have your day with doubters!
There is a lot to be excited about! I for one and extremely excited about this year in so many ways it’s not even funny! LOL!
Here is a diet pepsi toast to our beloved Broncos! May you have a safe trip to the lone star state! Please win and come home safely and quickly! If you stay to long in that state, it’s said that you’ll turn into a moron!…get in and get out!
GO GET EM’ BOYS!
Thanks for the info Cack! That’s a bummer bc I had wanted to catch it live. Oh well gotta wait for the regular season before I’ll be able to put the NFL Ticket to use.
No carmeloo, they dont show the preseason, I wish they did. Ill have to wait for the replay on nfl network.
Thanks as well Acell! This is gonna be the downfall to moving from New Orleans to Portland…. no local football. Well other than the Seahawks.
Nfl network will have live look-ins from 7-10 central time also.
Also they sale a preseason package for your computer on nfl.com Just make sure your computer is compatible, because my laptop doesnt have the memory.
28-24 broncos.
denver 25 dallas 17
Does anyone know if the replay on NFL network will be the full game or just highlights like NFL replay?
It’s so quiet you can type a pindrop in here.
I am getting a kick out of the score predictions.
So, I say 1st team puts up 7 and their night is over. 2nd team puts up 13. And Quinn & the 3rd string shines with 14.
34-24 Broncos Lol!!!
Nothing like the new season to bring back some famous names back on here… Broncfalls & my bro Caramel!! lol Nice to see you guys back on here.
Can’t wait for the game tomorrow. Been itching for some football for what seems like forever. Just wish I could watch it. Another reason to hate pre-season, they never show the games here!! arr
Whether is still counts or not… I say 21-17 Broncos all the way.
lol @ sndvl – love the enthusiasm in your prediction!!
Good luck boys, go get them cowgirls!!
GO BRONCOS!!!!
i figured 25
3 feild goals one by each group..
a td for tebow and a td for quinn.. unless he its it long i just cant see Orton getting a td on his one maybe 2 drives
haha i just realized i can count 23 not 25
can’t jeez i cant spell either
28 – 7 Broncos. And that is stretching 7 for ther cowgirls.
21-13 Cowboys. It’s preseason so if we loose who cares. I think Dallas after everything they went through last season will play a tough game to prove something to their fans.
Also does anyone know the official time that NFL network will replay the game? I’ve been hearing many different times.
Heyyyyyyy Ash! Where have you been, and how have you been sis? Also did you know that you’re gonna have a new nephew in November?!
Yes the gang is all slowly coming back together. Acell thanks for that tidbit on the NFL Package but I’ll put that money towards something else. I’ll just come on here and follow the thread when the game is on. I’m just glad football is starting back up, and before you know it college football is gonna be here!
You can watch all 4 preason games on NFLNETWORK.COM for 19.99 but you can only watch on your computer. Im going to be watching our broncos tonight.
Just so everyone knows,
This morning there was a corn flake in the shape of a Bronco head in my cereal….
I’m just saying!
GO GET EM’ BOYS!
Broncos are going to suprise a lot of people this year if…..
1. Stay Healthy (which they havent done for 3 years)
2. Win a couple close games
3. Defense plays up to their ability (so much more talent then in the past)
predicting 8-8 season (9-7 with playoff birth w/ a little luck)
Cladybunch,
That’s pushing it a little don’t you think?
Broncfalls you wont be saying orton is the man when we have not won a game all season can you remind me how many games the choker orton won
if you want to watch the game and you have a computer go to adthe.net and you can watch preaty much any game or fight for free live.
OMG, CONGRATS Caramel!! That’s great news. Happy for you!
I just hope the little guy decides not to come on Nov 7… reminder of the worst day of my life. Any day but that one! lol But congrats again.
Been busy working this summer. Leaving for the 303 tomorrow afternoon. Going out for a few days to see my little cousins & up to Estes Park for our annual trip. They were SO bummed out when they found out I wasn’t coming out this summer but now I get to surprise them! haha
Good idea saving your money instead of getting the NFL ticket. Great idea but it is expensive!!! Whew! My mom got that for me like 2 years ago and while I enjoyed it, its not worth going broke for. Lots a money for only wanting the Denver games. lol If only they had the common sense to lower the prices, they just might get a lot more takers! Ya think? But looks like on the home page of DB, they FINALLY have a way for us to watch the game. So there!!
LOL @ Broncfalls – I hope that Bronco shaped cornflake means a W. Too funny!
GO BRONCOS!!! Go get them Cowgirls!
