ATTENTION: Please note that tomorrow’s (Wednesday’s) practice has been changed from 8:50-11:30 am to 9:30-11:00 am. It will be a non-padded walkthrough session but it remains free and open to the public.

The Broncos came out Tuesday late afternoon for an hour-long walkthrough session as they prepare for their first preseason game Thursday at Dallas.
There wasn’t a whole lot to report on, but there are a couple brief notes.
Receiver Eddie Royal, who sat out the morning’s padded practice, was in the lineup working with the first team. On the other hand Brandon Lloyd, who also sat out the morning practice (knee swelling), did not participate. Matt Willis started in his place.
The special team unit of long snapper Lonie Paxton, kickers Steven Hauschka and Matt Prater, punter Britton Colquitt, Special Teams Coordinator Jeff Rodgers and Assistant Special Teams Coach Keith Burns had some fun on the other practice field while the first and second teams walked through different sets. The six players and coaches had a contest to see who could hit the crossbar of the goalpost with a throw from varying distances. Hauschka and Rodgers were among the winners.
Daniel Fells, Dante Rosario and Dan Gronkowski got all of the action with the first team at tight end.
After a 5-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Brady Quinn to receiver Eric Decker, running back Knowshon Moreno gave Quinn an excited and elaborate high-five, handshake combo.
Even though it was close to 90 degrees, safety Brian Dawkins sported his trademark sweatpants with shorts over the top, long-sleeve shirt under his jersey and fishing hat.

Does that not sound more fair? Maybe we should try that here if we really are having a QB competition, and that’s what leads me to believe that we will try and get Luck next year.
Happy B-Day Bay! Have fun in the Pubs!
wow! I totally agree with Jamie Dukes! For the very first time ever!!!!haha

Orton doesn’t care about me and I don’t care about Orton….
I’ve never hoped for a player to get hurt but I would just love it if Orton came down with a Highly Severe case of crotch rash that keeps him from playing football for about 4 months….
POUR IT ON TEBOW!!!!!!! We know you care about the fans!!!
Who wants a QB for their football team that comes out and says I don’t give a crap aobut the fans?
What if Elway came out and said the last people he cared about was the Denver Bronco Fans??
Orton just spit in the face of all of the entire Denver Bronco Family!!!!!!!
Orton should be tared and feathered and ran out of Denver!!! Orton is not a true Bronco!
What if Drew Breese or Payton Manning or Tom Brady came out and said the last people they care about are the fans of their team??
I WANT A LEADER OF OUR TEAM THAT ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT THE DENVER BRONCO FANS!!!!!!!!
Orton is arrogant and self serving. Elway needs to send this guy packing before he devides the locker room and alienates all of the fan base except the part that doesn’t mind being told they suck….
OC, do you really think that any football players “care” about the fans? What it all boils down to is winning and being on a winning team, gaining the trust and respect from your teammates through your performance, and the result of doing that is gaining fan respect. These guys are pros and this is thier job. I agree that maybe Orton should’ve probably kept that to himself, but it can’t be easy to “care” about the fans when all he hears are jeers from Tebow fans and being surrounded by number 15 jerseys.
I personally don’t care who starts………..whoever can give our team the best chance to WIN is the guy I want behind center. I feel that is Orton right now though….I love what TT has to offer but I don’t think he’s quite there yet to take over the reins.
GO BRONCOS!!
Mikey, there are always more than one way to look at any given situation and sometimes there are many different correct answers to the same question. I think in Denver there has been a clear cut winner of the QB position in the minds of the coaches so they want to keep the starting unit together as much as possible so they can get off to a quick start. The situation in Carolina is different because the players involved in the competition are playing at similiar levels. I agree with you that if things don’t work out this season with the QB’s we have on the roster we will go after Luck in the draft and may “sell the farm” to get him. With what amounts to a rookie wage scale in place, it will take a lot of draft choices/players to be able to move up and get a top pick in the draft.
You called me a hate monger, OC? Maybe you neeed to go look in the mirror.
and btw – he never says he doesn’t care about the fans, he simply said his priority is his team first, regardless of what the fans feel about him. I think it’s been taken way out of context.
imready, I hope they aren’t prepared to “sell the farm” for Luck! The book on Luck from a number of scouts who looked at him closely last year is that he is extremely smart, very mobile, but doesn’t have a very strong arm. He doesn’t drive the ball well, particularly in very much wind. He is a classic West Coast offense QB but doesn’t have the arm to pose much of a deep threat on a regular basis. He is best suited to a control passing offense much like Montana with the 49ers. He may have Elway’s mobility, he may have Elway’s smarts but he isn’t even close on the arm so at this point, it looks like he won’t be the 2nd coming, not yet anyway.
haha, I look in the mirror every day and all I see is a nice guy that needs to shave more often……lol
Orange_Crusher, what is the movie where they took liquid heat and put it in the sock straps of all the players? That might be a good move for someone!
No, seriously, I wish no ill will to anyone wearing our Orange and Blue. I want to see the cowgirls stomped by the biggest and meanest stampede of Broncos they have ever seen.
By thw way, Happy Birthday to everybody having one (or just had one in some cases)!
He actually said “my last goal is to win over the fans, thank God they don’t make the decisions”.
What Orton doesn’t understand is that WE FANS do make the decisions. The decisions to buy tickets to games and to buy jerseys and spend money on our team that in turn pays the players… The players that SHOULD care about winnig over the fans and generating excitement and filling the seats at the game….
I think Ortons words could cause less fans to want to see him play and could result in less excitement and less ticket sales and less revenues for the Broncos. It’s just a negative, hurtful and selfish thing to say to the Ever Faithful Denver Bronco Fanbase…
Who wants to pay to watch a QB that doesn’t care at all about the Fans in the seats cheering.
I might have to pay to go to the Bronc/Raider game just so I can BOO Orton!!!! Is that reverse psychology??? LOL
seweatherman1, the movie was Revenge of the Nerds!
Orton is the future of the Broncos. He’s going to have a breakout year and we’re going to offer him a lucrative contract. Then we’ll trade Tebow and he’ll go excel somewhere else. Then once Orton has his long term deal, we just have to wait until he takes to to the Super Bowl. Then the only thing we’ll need to wait for is his bust in Canton.
BBR great read and appreciate your input early this morning, seems very plausible at this point. Especially thanks for the opportunity to reminisce some of the exciting TT footage showing his determination and leadership. Can’t wait for tomorrow to come so that we can see our Broncos in action. Go Broncos!
Personally, I washed my hands of Orton last year after he was injured and revealed his “true” team spirit and who or what he really cared for and about those last three games. If he was at all about the team he would have been on the sidelines trying to help the qb to win the games and rooting the team on with some encouragement. What he displayed was utterly ridiculous and the farthest from any team spirit there could possibly be. What makes this even worse is to come out now and make the comments he has made about wanting to win over his fellow team mates and not caring about the fans.
Yep, he has to win people over, but I will not be one of them.
I also agree that he will have a stellar season this year because this is yhe last year of his contract. He is smart enough to know that if he doesn’t, his value won’t be worth spit next year.
A lot of you are just plain blind. Does anybody really believe that anybody in the NFL truly cares about “The Fans”?
Sickening if you think about that for a moment…
Not that I’m speaking for Orton, but what he probably meant was he doesn’t care about what the fans THINK.
Wasn’t that a response to the jerk who asked him what he thought of the 38 Tebow Jerseys???
I really do hope Orton proves us all wrong. That would be the ultimate!!!
Football players care about winning games and winning championships…..and getting PAID! As a fan, all I care about is seeing my team win……..I don’t give a crap if they don’t “care” about me…..just produce on the field and win us some games!
Thanks for that wealth of information henryac, I never heard much real information on Luck, just that he was going to be NFL ready for the most part and we all know he’s a player that Elway took interest in personally.
Its not about the fans, once a long time ago it used to be, but it will never be about the fans. Think about it…do they know you just lost your job and you have a family to support, do they know you have a sick child and the medical bills are piling up, do they know you have to make a decision on whether or not to buy food or medicine this week. No, they don’t, they don’t care as long as you keep spending what little money you do have on NFL stuff.
The sooner you realize it will never be about the fans, or about your team, its not even about the Lombardi trophy, its all about the money, you’ll be better off.
b-dawk!
Im going in to this as who ever is starter Im going to support 100%, but with that said Orton is on a short leash. Im going to ignore the comments for that does not translate into play on the field. After two poor seasons Orton cant just throw up numbers he has to win, I dont care if you throw for 5,000 yards if you only win 5 games. If he wins let him play if he loses ( even if he has numbers) let Tebow have a shot to see what he can do what do we have to lose at that point. All I can say is Go Broncos make us proud.
Orton didnt spit in my face by saying its not the fans he trying to impress. Did anyone see the interview, what i heard was the announcer trying to start stuff with him by saying he seen 39 tebow jerseys and only 2 ortons, then he went on to say how does it make you feel that tebow is the fan favorite. Thats when Orton said thank god the fans dont make the decisions and going on to say its not the fans hes trying to impress……. whats wrong with that. The fans dont like him he will never beable to impress the bronco fans, hes just telling the truth. We would of won more games last year with the numbers he had. How many games did we take an early lead in just to lose it because the D couldnt get off the field on 3rd downs. It was the defense that would get tired and give up not orton. I think its the fans and the media that keeping all the termoil going not the quaterbacks, I think everyone has beat this dead horse enough why dont everyone just root for our broncos and be happy that footballs here already and let the coaches do what their paid for.
Elway, Heres your chance to show your leadership skills again and lead with the heart and love for football and the Broncos. Play the QB with the biggest heart and the love of the game. It worked before. We need a leader off and on the field.
I think most of you are correct on the QB situation in Denver. My main concern is the season is upon us and there still is a situation! If they are going to give Orton the number 1 spot then he needs to live up to that number one spot! If we get rolling into the season and we are out of the playoffs by week 8 give Tebow a chance. If he loses 8 games trade him and look else where.
My biggest gripe is why did the waste a number one draft pick on a bench rider? We could have used that pick for another number one defensive player where we are hurting ever so badly! Now everyone in the front office not owning up to the pick, now that’s horse sh*t! You can’t tell me Josh made that decision all on his own.
All I can say is I hope Denver at least has an 8-8 season. Denver let the team slip moving Mike out and Josh in. Lets hope they kick the Cowboys in the teeth to get the season rolling in the right direction!
I didnt really look into the comments that Orton made but all i remember him saying is that he wants to “win over the fans.” Oh yeah i remember now, he said he is glad the fans dont pick the starters. Now this may stir up some controversy but i totally agree with that statement. And ya wanna know why?
Orton has been doin some mighty good work. He has had his best career stats in Denver and his TD to INT ratio is better than a good portion of the starting QBs in the league. He had what, 30 TDs and about 10 INTs? Something of that nature. Anyway, he hasnt done us any harm on the field (and if he has, it has been rather minor). He doesnt throw 4 picks in a game often like some QBs (Cutler, Roesthlisberger [thats probably spelled wrong]). And he has been impressing some peeps (yeah thats so 2007 but im 17, i really dont care haha) in camp while Tebow is getting all the sympathy and all the hoo-rahs, etc. Im not dissing Tebow, cuz i think Tebow will be good for us in a couple years, but this whole situation is probably extremely stressful on a guy in Orton’s position. Not to mention the intense trade rumors that almost were a reality earlier in camp.
So in all reality, no one should be totally dissing Orton. I can understand some comments about his arm not being a cannon or that he isnt risky enough of a passer but he gets the job done and if our supporting cast wouldve help up their end of the deal last year, we were at least an 8-8 team. My vote is get Tebow some playing time situationally and when we’re winning by 30 (haha jk guys) but Orton is the starter for the season. Period. End o’ story
buy lease beats…
