2011 Preseason Slate Unveiled

April 12th, 2011 - 12:58pm by Gray Caldwell

UPDATED WITH DATES/TIMES APRIL 19 AT 4:42 P.M. MDT

April is arguably the most exciting month of a typical NFL offseason. Not only does the draft close out the month, but the next season’s schedule is released.

On Tuesday, with the draft a little more than two weeks away, the league offered up a precursor to the full schedule release, announcing the preseason slate.

The Broncos will take on three NFC teams in the preseason, along with an AFC team they will see again in the regular season.

The Buffalo Bills will open up the 2011 football season at INVESCO Field at Mile High when they travel to Denver in Week 2 of the preseason. The Broncos will return the favor and fly to Buffalo at some point during the regular season.

The other preseason home game comes in Week 3 against the Seattle Seahawks.

The Broncos hit the road in Weeks 1 and 4, playing in Dallas and Arizona, respectively. The Cardinals are the team’s second-most common preseason opponent, and the Cowboys are tied for third.

It marks the 14th consecutive year the team has opened the preseason on the road, extending the club record.

Head Coach John Fox, who holds a .528 winning percentage in the preseason as a head coach — coincidentally the exact same winning percentage the Broncos have in the preseason as a franchise — said he always looks forward to the exhibition slate.

“The preseason is an important time for us to evaluate our roster and get a better feel for our players,” Fox said. “It plays a big role in our regular-season preparation in terms of our timing and execution in all phases of the game.”

Denver has won at least one preseason game in every year but one — the club’s inaugural 1960 campaign.

The exact dates and times of each game will be announced later this month along with the team’s complete 2011 regular-season schedule.

“We are looking forward to competing against four quality opponents and getting the season started,” Fox said.

I have class now so I will talk to y’all later on tonight!!

I LOVE ME SOME BRONCOS COUNTRY!!

    And as TRB says…

    Freak out…:)

Its all good freak, you know we agree and did the best we can lol. The battle is over and the final battle will come April 28 lol. TRB out…

Also account for this. We’ll be giving Dareus about $40 mil. guaranteed and a whole bunch of salary money if we take him #2 overall. Or, we can get guys in the 2nd round who have essentialy the same skill set and talent for A LOT cheaper.

  4. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Lol true, I agree with that cdud. but as a peterson fan, I dunno if i can justify that amount of money up front to a CB either. I don’t know what the asking price for a #2 CB will be. Either way, thats why I am hoping we get a rookie wage scale done but DOUBT IT lol. Seems like trading back is best for our pocket cuz if Peterson will command a 40mil contract, I dunno if I can justify 2 40 mil CB’s at the same time, but i sure as heck can try LMAO, TRB out…

Now I really know what bay meant by saying “If you don’t get it by now you never will” and on that note Royalty like TRB is out…

  6. broncosfreak30 says:

    Yea TRB…

Our Best scenario in my opinion would to be trade with the Cards and get their number 5 and another 2nd round pick and take Peterson there. He should still be on the board there and we get another 2nd round pick!!!

Cards have been said at REALLY being interested in Gabbert!

That would give us 4 picks in the top 2 rounds. That could turn around our defense VERY quick!!

Haha, now really have to go this time!!

    Freak out…

  7. baylinorcrush says:

TRB, players in the draft are paid accordingly to their draft placement, not their position, so yes we would have a pricey CB tandem, LOL.

  8. sndvl says:

How much is it worth to have a dual threat? At CB and Returner? I can justify paying 40 million (Ick, hack, bellllch). 30 for his CB duties, 10 for returner duties. Say he nabs 4 picks, 1 fumble recovery, 1pick 6 and 2-3 returns to the house!!! In his 1st year

Oh sorry. Guess I’m being an ideologue…Kddn

    2Ps = D in 11

  9. baylinorcrush says:

No, you’re just someone talking with somebody else’s money, haha.

  10. Cdudbronc24 says:

I doubt he’ll return kicks. He’s too valuable to risk getting injured back there. Minnesota let Adrian Peterson return kicks his rookie year but then they realized how important he was to the offense and didn’t let him return kicks anymore.

  11. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Yea he probably wont return kicks. No McD this year so we won’t be risking our first round pick on returns.

He said he would prefer to only return punts but he is open to both. Kicks are pretty dangerous hence why they made a rule change (which i hate) and why guys like Desean and Royal only do punts. Cuz they are Valuable. Guys like Hester on the other hand are just crazy men who do anything lol.

It will probably be Cox and Vaughn on KR and PP on PR or Royal on PR if we don’t get PP.

Lmao @ “No, you’re just someone talking with somebody else’s money, haha.” With that ideology I can justify it as well lol. TRB out…

  12. sndvl says:

    Lmao at baylin too!
