I think his contract may be up, still listed on the roster on the team site though.
Fields is still a Bronco and on the current roster.
However the Broncos are not expected to bring back free agent DT Ronald Fields.Fields, 29, didn’t help himself by getting arrested last May for “waving a gun at a nightclub,” and went on to struggle in a rotational role during the season, this was printed March 3rd.
Hillis vs. Vick for the Madden cover
And if his success hasn’t caused us enough pain, the Browns still have a conditional 2012 pick from us. (Shouldnt that be the other way around?)
I guess the condition relates to how well BQ performs. Gag me with a spoon…
Yeah the conditional pick is on the amount of time Quinn plays, which has been none, so should be a 7th round pick I believe.
Another loss courtesy of McD waving him, Tim Crowder, our second round pick from a couple years back. Doing pretty well in Tampa….you know, in a 4-3 with a coach that knows how to coach a 4-3… lol
Crowder was always going to be better as a 4-3 DE. We tried working him out at 3-4 OLB which was never going to work. The 3-4 was a failed experiment unfortunately.
The funny thing was that i could have been successful if McD wasnt our coach. Think about it. We had Doom. DJ played ILB. All we needed we actual talent but McD botched it up. He traded the starting QB for a steal 2 first round picks and with that we coulda had a true 3-4. Guys like Cushings, Orakpo and Clay Matthews were available in that draft. Mix them with Nolan who taught the 3-4 well even with sub par talent and we coulda done it. We just had a O minded HC unfortunately. Man we have dropped the ball so much lol
Hey All! I know I don’t comment much anymore but I just want you all to know I get to print and read most all your comments……

And it reminds me, new blog = re-post:
DRAFT CONTEST RULES:
The draft contest is now open and CONTEST ENTRIES will be taken until April 28th at 4pm Mtn time.
For bloggers wishing to enter, we need the name of the first four players the Broncos will pick in this draft and the order in which they will be picked , #2, #36, #46 and #67 picks as of now, and if you expect pick trades to be made, simply enter the first four players you think the Broncos will pick at whatever picks you figure they will have (example: #5, #29, #39 and #46 picks).
IMPORTANT:
YOU MUST SAY “CONTEST ENTRY” when posting your picks TO BE OFFICIALLY ENTERED IN THE CONTEST.
ONLY ONE ENTRY PER BLOGGER, so if in doubt wait until the 28th deadline to post. NO EXCEPTIONS, too much re-work for me.
AND NO MULTIPLE CHOICES FOR EACH PICK!
Highest number of correct players picked will win with the tie breaker being at what # those players were picked.
No prizes of any kind, just PRIDE, the biggest prize of all!
This contest is not affiliated with the Bronco organization, just an in house blogger creation.
I will do a re-post of this on every blog so everybody has a chance to be clear on all of it.
Good luck to everyone who participates!
I noticed that with ALL the successful teams in the NFL they ALL have really good DT’s or NT’s. Just thought I would throw that out there.
How about JJ Watt?
Why should we look at a DE in the early first when we have Doom and Ayers?
I ain’t holding my breath on Ayers. Doom has been suspect against the run in a 4-3, in the past we actual took Doom off run downs (not all the time but on occasion). I actual think Hunter will beat out Ayers for that LE spot, Doom will start though. I think Watt is an upgrade over Ayers plus we can always kick Watt inside to DT on passing downs and bring Ayers onto the field. Just some thoughts…
Great and then we wait for the second round to pick all the great DTs everybody is talking about…
Maybe, Austin, Paea in the 2nd and then Ellis or Jenkins in the 3rd, throw in someone from FA. Pair that with Vickerson and I think that is a solid group of DTs with better DEs as well. Just an idea though.
Obviously I was just joking, I’m a no nonsense kind of guy who calls it as I see it and I see that we have nothing in the middle worth a darn at stopping the run and the best specimen at doing that by most professional accounts is Dareus and we have a great shot at him since folks see Carolina picking Newton. It’s a no brainer to me, but like you say you’re just kicking ideas around, thing is I don’t think we neeed that many ideas with the #2, keep it simple, go to the root of the problem, fix the middle up front, not the edges nor the secondary, just my thoughts as usual.
That’s not even an option, Fox already gave the end positions to Doom and Ayers.
By all accounts I think the pick will be Dareus, he is the safe option but he just doesn’t amaze me. Solid pick just want something more from 2#. I would not be surprised if they pick Fairley but I doubt it. The middle needs to be fixed but there is more than one way to do it. Plus we are putting all our eggs in one basket if we just pick Dareus (what happens if he gets injured?). I think we will at least draft 2 DTs and probably get another whenever Free A starts.
Ayers will be fine in the 43, just like he was as a Vol, McD just ruined him for a while is all.
I think everything is an option Mikey. Fox has to look at this and see that one of his starting DE is coming back from a serious injury and may not be the same. The other is translating from OLB to DE and who knows what he can provide there. And the only depth behind these guys is Hunter. Another DE is an likely outcome.
To tell you the truth I’m more worried about DJ, even at the weakside, his attitude has really been detrimental to the team ever since he decided to miss all the off season conditioning last year.
Ayers’s only pass rush move from Vol was the bull rush and that worked out for him well at OLB didn’t it haha. I think Ayers is a year or two away from his best.
He needs to be on a one strike you’re out type of deal and then there will be the likely 4 game suspension for his second DUI, I’m really ticked off at him.
Oh don’t get me started on the LBs it is just as bad as the DL. DJ is the own quality starter but like you I agree DJ’s attitude last year went down hill after he got arrested. But it is always hard on a losing team.
Everyone needs to stop hoping for Austin in the second round. He will be gone at latest by Baltimore in the first. As far as our first round selection, I’m kinda 50/50 on PP and Dareus. I think that PP will be the better player over the long run, but Dareus just fills too big of a need. Either way I would be happy, both will be good players i believe. I think its weird that in this draft there is so much uncertainty as to who teams will select. usually there is a lock for at least 1-5 and sometimes down to 10. But this year nothing has been locked up for any pick. Just think its interesting
Ayers was my pick for our #17 pick that year, the only one I got right, so don’t expect me to change my mind that easy about him, haha.
I don’t I just think he needs to put in a lot of work to get where he needs to be as an effective DE. Like I said he needs a year or 2. I also liked Ayers in that draft, he dominated Oher that year.
That’s the great thing about having Fox instead of McD, he will make all the front 7 players better players without a doubt in my mind.
And that definitely includes DE Ayers.
Coaching can only do so much, but yes they will be better this year. I am wondering to see what sort of impact DC Allen has on the D. Will he bring the creative blitz schemes from the Saints?
McD was a hindrance to our D while Fox will be an asset.
Going from McD controlling Martindale to Fox working with Allen is like night and day….
Of course, Fox likes to blitz too.
Yeah Fox likes to rush the front 4 and drop 7. Where as the saints D had creative blitzs with the LBs and secondary player.
Fox and Allen will be awesome for us this year.
casino you are right about Austin won’t be there in the second and same can be said of Paea, but the guys here who want them won’t hear any of that, I tried.
It’s definitely the first year in a long while that I will be excited to see our new D.
Me too.
And to be honest I think Austin and Paea will be there in the second. You look at the amount of DL players going in the first and you know that some will drop. Teams will spend those high picks on impact players. They are good enough to go in the first but there are more than enough already going in the first. I think a few more QBs and RBs could go late in the first.
Not a good draft class for QBs this year nor RBs, hence I think teams will load up on the goods this year, the big men, early, just the way I see it.
Maybe but I think 3 QBs will go in the first. One late in the draft and I think mikel leshoure will go late in the first. Plus I think there will be 4 corners taken in the first. Smith and Harris being the other two.
It would not surprise me to see these picks filled up quickly and some of the bigger guys getting pushed into the second.
Leshoure in the first? That’s the first I heard of that.
Thing is we control our destiny addressing our most glaring need with the #2, as to if we wait for the second round to address it all kinds of things could go wrong and we end up with just crumbs there, definitely not worth the gamble to me.
Anyway, enough talk about the draft for me for today, gotta get some zzzzzz’s, but nice to be able to talk with you for a while without ever addressing PP, refreshing, thanks.
What about Carolina, who they gonna pick? They spent a 2nd round pick on a QB last year and often rookies take a year or two before they really get football at the NFL level. Their biggest need on defense is DT and offense would be probably WR. Will they go offense and pick Green at WR or DT and pick Darius. Maybe somthing all together different? So who’s Carolina goona pick?
Yeah I have a feeling Leshoure goes in the first. On average 2 to 3 backs go in the first Leshoure would be the 2nd.
And yes I agree good to talk on other matters than PP vs MD.
imready has for the Panthers all signs point to Newton, that is why the pick will be Dareus haha. I think that is more likely. If Rivera likes Clausen then Green is the pick.
