The final day of the draft is upon us, and rounds four through seven are about to begin. The Broncos have five picks today, starting with No. 108 overall.
Look below for a feature we found on Youtube on one of the newest Broncos, N.C. State linebacker Nate Irving.
10:33 a.m. MDT: The Broncos are on the clock at No. 108 in the fourth round.
10:37 a.m. MDT: The pick is in — Oklahoma safety Quinton Carter. We’ll have more on him on the front of DenverBroncos.com shortly.
11:34 a.m. MDT: The Broncos have traded up to the No. 129 overall selection, and have gone with Portland State tight end Julius Thomas. It was a trade with the Green Bay Packers. The Broncos received No. 129 and a seventh-rounder, No. 204, in exchange for a fifth and sixth rounder, No. 141 and No. 186.
The picks remaining are Nos. 189, 204 and 247. That’s a sixth and two sevenths. We’ll have more on Thomas on the front of DenverBroncos.com shortly.
2:24 p.m. MDT: The Indianapolis Colts are on the clock at No. 188, so the Broncos select next. Sorry for the lack of updates on the blog, with yesterday’s picks visiting the building and so much action on the draft board today, we’re trying to bring you as much content on the front of DenverBroncos.com as possible. Looks like Indy’s pick is in as I type this, so the Broncos are on the clock.
2:26 p.m. MDT: Denver’s pick is in — Mike Mohamed, inside linebacker from California. We’ll have more information on the two-time All-Pac 10 player on the front of DenverBroncos.com shortly.
3:05 p.m. MDT: The Broncos are on the clock with the first pick in the seventh round. Denver has one pick remaining after this one at No. 247.
3:07 p.m. MDT: The pick is in, and it’s Nevada tight end Virgil Green. We’ll have more on Green on the front of DenverBroncos.com shortly.
5:03 p.m. MDT: The Broncos’ final pick is one spot away — Cincinnati is on the clock at No. 246, and Denver’s last selection comes at 247. After the pick, check DenverBroncos.com for more information, and be sure to head to the 2011 NFL Draft page for all the coverage in a central location.
5:05 p.m. MDT: RB Jay Finley from Baylor heads to the Bengals, and the Broncos are on the clock…
5:09 p.m. MDT: The pick is in — it’s Oklahoma defensive end Jeremy Beal. In his career, he racked up 223 tackles and 29 sacks in his career, earning 2010 Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year.
That’ll do it for the draft blog. We’ll have even more content on the site later today.

How do you all feel the draft went so far lads. Interesting we didnt get a DT but Washington didnt take a QB and we know they need one. Do you think our old friend Shanahan will be giving us a DT for Orton. Do they have a DT there. Whats your thoughts??
Good to know Royal. I forgot that Syd was from Cal.
Big changes on D in Denver with all of these LB`s.
Broncowild…
With all the LB’s we’ve drafted, they all have pretty good coverage skills. I live in Charlotte and my gf graduated from NC State so I have seen Irving in real life play several times and he is a CRAZY linebacker and should be a great starter and remind some people of Ray Lewis!
You can see Syn’Quad and Mohamed making a tackle together at the end of the youtube video on Mohamed.
Looks like a solid LB!
Check out the link Strand- Mohamed looks good !
I just checked it out. He looks good. Man, I like him.
We need a DT!!
Good question collies10 – I’d rather not see Haynesworth here in Denver.
Looks like free agency for a DT
There is no way we have not addressed our greatest need by accident. Think something is lined up and like yourself royalbronco hope it is not Haynesworth.
I heard, there is no more need to stop the run – we will acquire all RB’s in the league.
Powe went to KC – Sh!t
Well, if there weren’t so many LBs we have taken so far I would want us to give herzlick a shot, but oh well….what would you guys rate our draft as of now? On a scale from 1-10
I’d say 8
It`ll be crazy if we draft another LB. I doubt it though.
Clock – Clay or Williams. Pleeeeeeeease!
TE – Make my grade a 6!
Another TE. Virgil Green. What school did he play for?
Virgil Green, TE, Nevada – Scouting Report
Height: 6-3. Weight: 249.
Projected 40 Time: 4.74.
Combine 40 Time: 4.54.
Pro Day 40 Time: DNP.
Benchx225: 23. Vertical: 42.5.
Projected Round (2011): 3-4.
Good value I guess….
Green was ranked 4th behind Kendricks at TE.
Not sure what happened that he slipped so far on the draft board.
Does he have a medical condiation or discplinary concern?
sorry for typo…. “condition”.
Sounds like he’s a clean cut kid… must be medical.
Looks like Green is a fast and good catching TE. Also very good Character. Looks like the Bronco`s are still going after good character players.
He’s a dangerous receiver that needs to work on Blocking skills
No medical from what I see.
From NY Times:
The safest tight end in this draft is Notre Dame’s Kyle Rudolph. So if you’re looking for surer things, he has the combination of blocking skills, receiving and toughness after the catch that should earn him a starting opportunity within the first 12-18 months of his N.F.L. career.
But if you’re looking for the most dangerous TE in this draft, Green is the difference-maker. He still needs work as a blocker. Right now, he’s a lot more punch and pop without consistent technique and strength to sustain his blocks. In fact, Green may never have the frame to add enough muscle to become a great blocker at the position.
Although he is a willing and aggressive blocker and should develop into a technically sound player, his lack of polish will initially limit his opportunities as an every-down player. That’s O.K. If a team drafted Green as a blocker, the general manager should be fired. Green is much closer to Shannon Sharpe than Alge Crumpler.
Green has the quickness to get 15-20 yards downfield against most N.F.L. defenders, and his agility separates him from most of the tight ends in this class. When he makes a catch, he’s capable of making that quick cut, spin, or dip away from a defender and accelerate for significant yardage.
And that physicality that I mentioned with his blocking carries over to Green’s ball-carrying. Because he’s a flexible, explosive athlete, Green is also very good at getting his pads low at the point of contact and bouncing off hits. What’s most impressive is that he combines his athleticism with terrific hands and toughness over the middle. He catches the ball in high-traffic areas and takes the punishment.
The team that drafts Green will be able to move him around the field as an x, y or z receiver or use him on the line because of his receiver-like skills, size and strength. If Green can add another 10 pounds and taper his reckless tendencies as a run blocker, he has the athleticism to be a statistical leader at the position.
Apparently he had swelling in his knee which is a result of previous microfracture surgery, but that was a couple of years ago and he performed very well at the combine and pro days.
End of the road for some of our TE’s and LB’s then?
The only thing i found on Green was that he recovered from an injury in 2006:
Redshirted his first season at Nevada and missed spring drills while recovering from an injury. (from CBS)
From what I just looked up he`s a good ST player too.
Thx broncosfav – so it’s blocking skills. That’s what this article mentions as well.
Nice post RBF, sounds promising! Make my grade 7/10.
Still hoping for Clay or Williams at end of 7th.
I’m gonna see this 13 hour, 3-day marathon through to the end. Thank god the mrs is away on a hen-do.
The UK can be as obsessed as the US!
Who`s Williams?
I won`t make my judgement for 3 years on this draft.
No prob UK – thx for the scoop on the knee. Hope it’s not too serious.
Yeah, this article draws a comparison to Shannon Sharpe !!
Ian Williams, ND – only run stuffing DT left that I can see
I do like some of our players we got. Looks promising to me. I will say this, on paper I`ll give us a 6 on the draft on 1-10.
Or Cedric Thornton.
Kinda reminds me of when we all put our hopes on Chris Baker the free agent and that got us nowhere.
Improved LB and S play plus better coaching and scheming has gotta help though, so I guess we can’t be too fixated on DT….
Thy`ll adress the DT position in FA.. They better be young though, say 26 to 27 at the oldest. IMO if we go that direction. NO OLD FOGIES!!
Thats crazy that the article rbf1 posted mentioned Sharp, “Green is much closer to Shannon Sharpe.” Shannon Sharpe got picked in the 7th as well.
Kizla of the DP says has the inside scoop that they get DT in FA.
Hey Royalty, Whats up man? What do you think of the reinstatement of the lockout. It`s just as I thought all along. This aint over yet.
OMG, I AM SOOOO EXCITED!!!
WE GOT THOMAS AND GREEN AS TIGHT ENDS WHO SHOULD BOTH BE STUDS AND BOTH HAVE EXCELLENTS HANDS AND SPEED!!!
HERE’S GREEN!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K84KLokZGIM
watch on O lineman come off the board with our 7th
I’ll wait to post my grade until the last pick but collies10 did make a good point, about something possibly happening down the road.
Agree strand – we need to get younger at DT as well. It’s crazy how this draft went with all of us… fans/media etc… thinking we were going DT with first pick or maybe 2nd rd, and we never even addressed this position at all.
They said on that video that I just posted that Green was probably the best NFL prospect on their whole team, and that also includes a team with Kapernick!! I cannot believe Green lasted this long. What a great steal, both him and Thomas!!!
I love what our organization has done! Elway was flawless.
Pepper…
Honestly it wouldn’t be a bad move if an OL came off with our last pick. We should get a FB but we still need depth at OL!!
FB, RB, DL, OL
I’d personally give us an 8 right now…looks like we have 4 potential starters with our first 4 picks and 3 guys late in Thomas, Mohamed, and Green that look like they can be developed and maybe one of those TE’s will become the next Sharpe haha….Also the S Carter we drafted might be a steal…we could have fixed our Safety problem with this draft…time will tell, but as of now I say 8!
The Heads at Dove Valley have something up there sleeve. I don`t know what they are thinking but I`ll just have to put my trust in them. They do know what they are doing.
