jazzyfrizzle,
i put in Mile_high_Pride 1998 and it says invalid lg name…SO im confused XD i even typed it a million diff ways and even copy pasted.
you are right blaze,
I will try to get ahold of the league manager to see whats going on and get back to you in the morning, The info I posted earlier was what he put in an earlier blog, but i will get back to you tomorrow morning.
If its not too much to ask, could you shoot me a email at xxdartsxx@hotmail.com please? its easier to track that way.
Wow, multiple articles in the DP about the Broncos this morning, someone must of gotten down on the writers and told them to get busy. This one from Kizla is sure to make OC see red, LOL:
The biggest impact Tebow has had on the team since being drafted is to raise coach Josh McDaniels’ appreciation for veteran Kyle Orton. Hand the keys to the Denver offense to a rookie QB and the Broncos would be driving with training wheels. That’s a good way to end up in the ditch.
And I think just about everyone will love what Woody has to say about Elway and McD who just teamed up in a golf outing:
Joe Ellis, Chief Operating Officer of the Broncos, said Saturday: “I think the 4½ hours John and Josh spent together was great for them and the franchise.” McDaniels said: “I’ve really enjoyed being around John. He means so much to the Broncos, Denver and the NFL. We’ve had fun, and I look forward to John having a relationship with the Broncos, Pat Bowlen and me well into the future.” Elway said: “I’ve gotten to know Josh, and I’d like to get to know him even better and assist him and the Broncos whatever way I can. Josh knows what he wants and how to get there.”
Elway, who engineered more comebacks than any other quarterback in NFL history, wants one more comeback with the Broncos. The Broncos want John to come back.
BA, the story Woody tells of Elway failed attempt to buy into the Broncos is a bit different than the one you told, take a read. And I as just said the other day Bowlen might want to think about selling a share of the Broncos to ease up his cash flow, what Woody says would fall right in line with that:
At the end of Elway’s career, Bowlen offered to sell him up to 20 percent of the ownership, and Elway eventually would become COO. Elway declined; he didn’t want then to be a minority shareholder. That proposed deal prompted former owner Edgar Kaiser, who had maneuvered the Elway acquisition, to file a lawsuit, claiming he had first right-of-refusal. Litigation dragged through federal and state courts for years before a final ruling in Bowlen’s favor in 2007. Elway would be willing if Bowlen made the offer again. They were owners (with Stan Kroenke) of the defunct Colorado Crush arena football team. “I did that because I wanted to be in football again,” Elway said. “I got the experience on the ownership and personnel side, and I was ready for the NFL . . . Would I like to be part owner of the Broncos? Yes.”
And Woody goes on about how Elway now wouldn’t mind being a minority owner (I hope you are listening Pat), and to conclude Woody’s article he says what Elway has to say about Tebow, and I know this will make OC feel good all over again, LOL:
“It’s easier to be involved now. I don’t need a job title. I don’t want to call shots. It’s not necessarily day-to-day, but if I can help Josh, Pat and Joe get this franchise back on track, that’s important. It’s just a matter of being the guy there who if you wanted a different point of view, I can give it.” Would he want to coach? “Oh, yeah. Being off to the side and working it that way . . . spending time with the quarterbacks and the offense.” Elway has been impressed with McDaniels. “He’s considered too young at 34, and I was considered too old at 34. The players, I can tell you, don’t give a rat’s (behind) if he’s 34 or 64. You want a man who can motivate, teach you, coach you to a championship. Josh can do that.”
John Elway also has linked up with Tim Tebow. “He texted me when he got to Denver. I watched him practice. I’ve talked to him. I like him a whole lot. People say he doesn’t have the perfect release, but I didn’t have a perfect release. You can fix that. When Tim came to my (birthday party), we had a long talk. What I told him is that in pro football, the window of accuracy is this small (he spreads his hands 18 inches), not this big (3 feet). Those complete passes in college are incompletions and interceptions in the NFL. You don’t get better at accuracy in the weight room. You throw thousands of passes. He’s got the natural talent and the smarts. But he’s got to throw, throw, throw.”
Unfortunately it doesn’t seem as if McD will give much of a chance to Tebow to throw with the ones in training camp and beyond for this season, but maybe Elway’s point is it doesn’ t matter who he throws to as long as he throws, throws, throws. Pretty cool stuff Woody, you do much better when you quote people than when you ramble endlessly, like me, LOL.
And there is another article worth checking out about Elway turning the big 5-0, where I learned that Elway’s favorite # out of high school was 11, but that # was taken by a DB when he went to Standford so he was given the choice of 12 or 7. The rest as they say is history.
Told you the DP got busy, made for a good morning for me, hope you enjoy it also.
And finally, for those who don’t like our blue jerseys we started wearing since the 1997 season and would like to go back to the orange ones, this might change your mind: Elway remembers us that he NEVER EVER lost a game wearing the home color blue uniform (1997 and 1998). WOW!
Ok everybody,
I found out why it is so hard to sign up for this fantasy league. The information provided before only gives the league name and password. But to get in, you need the league ID and password. So as stated before, there are three spots available, first come first serve. Go to this link:
http://fantasy.nfl.com/registration/privateleaguejoin
and type in this info:
League ID: 16375
Password: 1998
And The_Ink did mention that there will be a prize this year.
Thanks for the info, bay. You saved me the visit to DP, lol.
Which month of NFL offseason is the worst? Anyone? I go for June or July.
SIGN DOOM!
GOD BLESS JOHN ELWAY!!!!
I LOVE ME SOME DENVER BRONCOS!!!
Told you, LOL.
#1, I go July because in June at least we had mini camp, in July we got zilch, nada, nothing…
I’d love to see Elway coaching the QB’s,he would be the ultimate QB coach,IMO.Any way he can contribute to the team would help, just being on the sidelines for the QB’s to see, would have to be inspiring.”OK Elway is watching me,let’s see if I can impress the best QB to ever play”,that would motivate any QB to play better.
BFE
So who do you guys think will be our top #1 receiver?
Gaffeny, Royal, Thomas are the three most would choose from, but weren’t there reports of Brandon Lloyd tearin it up recently? Then there is Decker and McKinnley. I don’t know how they are even gonna get on the field.
Too bad for Stokely. I like him a lot for the team but does he even make the team?
HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY to the DUKE OF DENVER!!!
baylin, the article even mentioned that if he were unable to get a share of the Broncos, he wouldnt rule it out for another team. THAT CANNOT HAPPEN…..MR. BOWLEN.
And the villian in a western flick with Costner??? When do tickets go on sale? lol
GO BRONCOS 2K10!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Bay I read that, didn’t know Elway turned him down, but I guess back then he was selling alot of cars and Shanny was still around. Would love to see Elway back with the Broncos.
From Rotoworld:
Champ Bailey is willing to take less money when he switches to safety, but doesn’t plan on making the conversion for another three or four years.
Bailey’s agent actually approached the Broncos about getting four years tacked on to his contract back in February, according to ESPN.com. Bailey, 32, is entering the final year of the contract he signed in 2004. He still deserves top corner money.
Pay DOOM,Pay CHAMP, Pay TEBOW, Pay Thomas and Decker too!!! haha
And Pay ME! Wait.. What?
Today is Elway’s 50th birthday, Happy birthday John, thanks for the great momories and Super Bowls!! Have a great day # 7!!!!!!!!
Holy Crap!
Could you imagine being drafted #22 in the draft as a rookie QB and you get invited to John Elway’s Birthday Party?
