4:30 p.m. MST: Here we are, finally just an hour away from the 2010 NFL Draft. It has been a long day of anticipation for the website team here at Dove Valley, and I imagine it’s the same story for plenty of you.

The plan for this blog is to keep you updated, pick-by-pick, until the Broncos make their first selection. After the pick comes, we’ll turn our focus to geting as much content as we can about the player the team selects, and leave the blog for you all to comment away.

Rather than with the live blog format you’re used to from games this past season, you’ll have to refresh this page occasionally to check out the updates. That’s so we can add photos and videos throughout the blog — including an exclusive look inside the team’s war room.

Speaking of the war room, the PR and web departments have our own war room set up in a conference room. The TV is tuned to the draft, we’ve got our computers in front of us and a depressing lack of snacks.

5 p.m. MST: We’ve got a little white board with who we think could be the team’s first pick, regardless of whether it’s at No. 11 or traded one way or the other. Some of the names are Maurkice Pouncey, Rolando McClain, C.J. Spiller, Sean Weatherspoon, Mike Iupati, Earl Thomas, Jimmy Clausen and Tim Tebow. All over the place, so clearly we have no idea what’s going to happen. Who do you all see in orange and blue at the end of the day?

5:15 p.m. MST: Broncos PA announcer and 850 KOA personality Alan Roach is on the stage at the draft right now, introducing the prospects that are at Radio City Music Hall and some legendary players from each franchise in attendance. Floyd Little was one of the invited players, and he’s on stage right now along with fellow Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2010 inductees Jerry Rice and John Randle.

5:32 p.m. MST: Commissioner Roger Goodell is at the podium to kick off the 2010 NFL Draft. The St. Louis Rams are now officially on the clock. While they work toward their pick, take a look at this video you might have missed from earlier today. A little over the top? Possibly. But it does the trick and gets you excited for what tonight — and the rest of this weekend — could bring.

5:38 p.m. MST: Sam Bradford is on the phone — and as many expected, the Rams select the Oklahoma quarterback with the first overall pick. Now the Lions are on the clock.

5:44 p.m. MST: Everything seems to be going according to plan — or at least what has been predicted in plenty of mock drafts — as Ndamukong Suh is headed to Detroit, joining a defensive front that added Kyle Vanden Bosch in free agency. Tampa Bay is on the clock.

5:52 p.m. MST: Oklahoma defensive tackle Gerald McCoy is emotional after being selected third overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Washington Redskins are now on the clock.

5:58 p.m. MST: The Redskins just took Oklahoma offensive tackle Trent “Silverback” Williams, according to Goodell. That brought a big laugh from Williams — I wonder if he asked the commissioner to say that when they met in the week leading up to the draft. That’s now four out of four for the Big 12, and three of the four picks have come from Oklahoma. Boomer Sooner, eh? But it’s still the SEC coming away with all the national championships. Go figure.

6:07 p.m. MST: The first of the AFC West clubs is on the clock — the Kansas City Chiefs. Broncos TV’s Chris Hall and team photographer Eric Lars Bakke are back from the war room, so video and photos of Head Coach Josh McDaniels and the front office at work on draft day will be coming shortly, and we’ll post it here and on the front of the site. As I finished typing that, Commissioner Goodell announced that — speaking of the SEC — Tennessee safety Eric Berry will be playing his home games in Arrowhead Stadium next season.

6:11 p.m. MST: Adam Schefter just predicted the Seattle Seahawks, who are on the clock, will take Oklahoma State offensive tackle Russell Okung. He said Seattle hopes Okung can become “the next Ryan Clady.” Pretty amazing that the Broncos’ young Pro Bowler has already become the measuring stick for successful young tackles.

6:16 p.m. MST: Turns out the Seahawks do take Okung. Cleveland is now on the clock. And below is the exclusive video from the war room.

6:24 p.m. MST: Florida cornerback Joe Haden is headed to Cleveland at the seventh overall selection. The second AFC West squad is on the clock — the Oakland Raiders. If you want to get wild with the rumors, is the pick going to Pittsburgh for Ben Roethlisberger?

6:28 p.m. MST: The Raiders’ pick is already in — and it’s one of the players many had heading to the Broncos, linebacker Rolando McClain from the national-champion Alabama Crimson Tide. Two more young defensive players heading to the AFC West. Now Buffalo is on the clock.

6:31 p.m. MST: Buffalo’s pick is in even more quickly — they jumped on Clemson running back C.J. Spiller. The Broncos are one pick away, as Jacksonville is on the clock at No. 10.

6:37 p.m. MST: Jacksonville’s pick is in, so the Broncos are now on the clock. Cal defensive tackle Tyson Alualu is headed to the Jaguars.

6:40 p.m. MST: The Broncos have traded the pick to the San Francisco 49ers, who hold the 13th and 17th picks in the first round. Details have not come in quite yet, except that the Broncos will now pick 13th. It sounds like just before the commercial Chris Berman said the Broncos grab an additional fourth-round pick to drop back two spots.

6:43 p.m. MST: San Francisco’s pick is in…and the details of the trade are in as well. The Broncos now pick 13th in the first round and pick up the 113th overall pick — the 49ers’ fourth-rounder. San Fran goes with offensive tackle Anthony Davis from Rutgers.

6:45 p.m. MST: The Broncos now have two consecutive picks in the fourth round — 113th and 114th overall. And the Dolphins, who were on the clock, traded their pick to the San Diego Chargers.

6:50 p.m. MST: San Diego, who jumped from the 28th pick to the 12th, have gone with Fresno State running back Ryan Matthews. We’ll let you know the details of the trade when they come our way. In the mean time, the Broncos are back on the clock at No. 13. We’ll see what happens.

6:51 p.m. MST: The Broncos have traded the 13th overall pick to the Philadelphia Eagles, meaning Denver will select at the 24th overall selection in the first round. Adam Schefter is reporting Denver now has two more third-rounders — the sixth and 23th picks in that round, Nos. 70 and 87.

The San Diego trade details are that the Chargers sent their 2nd round pick and fourth rounder to Miami in their trade for the 12th.

6:57 p.m. MST: The Eagles go with Michigan defensive end Brandon Graham at No. 13. Just a quick update, the Broncos now have one first-rounder (No. 24), two second-rounders, three third-rounders, two fourth-rounders, a fifth and a sixth. And Ed Werder predicts the team isn’t done moving and shaking tonight. We’ll see how that pans out.

7:05 p.m. MST: Seattle is making its second pick of the first round, No. 14 overall, and the Seahawks go with Texas safety Earl Thomas. The New York Giants are now on the clock. I don’t know about all of you, but the web and PR war room is buzzing right now. This has been another exciting first round.

7:13 p.m. MST: Peter King (@SI_PeterKing) on Twitter: “Denver now power-broker between late-1 and mid-4: 24, 43, 45, 70, 80, 87, 113, 114.”

New York’s pick is in, and they select South Florida defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, who is on the phone beside agent Drew Rosenhaus. Anybody see the videos of him doing backflips? Absurd. Now Tennessee is on the clock at No. 16.

7:20 p.m. MST: With the 16th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans select Derrick Morgan, defensive end, Georgia Tech.

Now San Fran is on the clock with their second pick in the first round.

7:25 p.m. MST: The 49ers have picked up Idaho guard Mike Iupati at No. 17, so they’ve gone with a tackle and a guard — clearly the offensive line was a priority to protect quarterback Alex Smith. Pittsburgh is now on the clock at No. 18.

7:29 p.m. MST: Pittsburgh’s pick is in, and a Make-A-Wish Foundation recipient announces that the selection is Florida center Maurkice Pouncey. At No. 19, Atlanta is on the clock.

7:32 p.m. MST: The Falcons’ pick is already in — they’ve jumped all over Missouri linebacker Sean Weatherspoon. We’re into the 20s — Denver’s pick is getting closer — and Houston is on the clock.

7:36 p.m. MST: Alabama cornerback Kareem Jackson is headed to Houston with the 20th overall pick. At 21, Cincinnati is on the clock, and apparently their pick is already in.

7:41 p.m. MST: The Cincinnati Bengals have selected tight end Jermaine Gresham. The New England Patriots are on the clock.

7:42 p.m. MST: The Broncos have traded up for the Patriots’ No. 22 overall pick, and the selection is in…

…it’s Georgia Tech wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, and it looks like the Broncos just swapped first-rounders with the Patriots, so New England will draft at No. 24, and Denver threw in one of their fourth-rounders.

7:49 p.m. MST: At this point, unless the Broncos make another trade, their night is through. In any case, this blog is through for the evening, and we’ll get you all the Demayrius Thomas information you need in the next hour or so.
