Peyton Hillis Update

January 15th, 2009 - 11:48am by Gray Caldwell

Saw that some fans on the message board yesterday were wondering about Peyton Hillis’ recovery from his hamstring injury he suffered against the Chiefs.

He’s been hanging around the locker room since he’s at the facilities rehabbing this offseason, and I thought I’d give you all a quick update.

He said everything’s coming along fine, and he’s not too concerned that he is staying in Denver working while many of his teammates are on vacation or home with their families.

“As long as I’m in here getting better, getting stronger, getting faster, there’s really not a problem for me,” he said.

Hillis said that it hasn’t really clicked into his mind yet that he’s not rehabbing from last season but really preparing for 2009. But he knows he wants to get into that mindset soon.

“Everything starts off slow because you are injured and you are working toward that goal to get back healthy,” he said. “Especially now because there’s a new coaching staff and a lot of things are going to be changing, you kind of want to get to that point where you’re healthy so you can start learning the playbook and start getting adjusted to things.”

So that’s a little update on his condition, hope that was helpful. There will be a story on many of the players staying in Denver to rehab this offseason in the upcoming issue of Broncos Magazine, so be on the lookout for that.

cutlercountry08: I absolutely loved the way he came in and ran the ball too. He ran angry but I don’t forsee him getting into that every down back role. He will most likely remain a FB or become an H-back type. Think Chris Cooley. He has great hands and is extremely athletic. Look for Ryan Torrain to fill that starting role at tailback. I’m more concerned with free agency and the draft for our Defense. Orange Crush Returns? I hope so.

Yo check this out, First off glad your doing well Hillis. Not that I was worried because this dude is a true beast! If you all notice,he has that smooth down hill running style just like Torain does but with a nasty power burst like pittman has. Guys, can you just imagine our backfield when healthy with Torain and Hillis switching or in the I formation, what they would do to defences. Man I cant wait! Sounds like Ali and Frazier to me. Smooth and quick like Ali(Torain)and rough and powerful like Frazier(Hillis).

    PUMP BLUE, BLEED ORANGE!!

I’m super happy to hear that Hillis is coming along fine. He is indeed a super star. Don’t compare him with Anderson. Hillis is stronger, a better pass receiver. and weighs 250lbs.

Guys what do you think about offering Randy Gradsihar the defensive line coach. Here is a guy that can bring back the 3-4 Orange Crush passion. He is willing if he is given a call. I think he would be a great coach. Romo also wants ans interview. I hoping, with you guys help, to let Bowlen arrange an interview with Gradishar and McD.

    Hillis you’re #1. numero uno

Hey Coach McDaniels: If you are reading these posts, please consider using Peyton Hillis as an Hback in your backfield next season. Just look at some old Broncos films with Shannon Sharpe in the backfield. Hillis can run or catch and block too. He’s a beast and will be a compliment to Cutler. Thanks, coach. Go Broncos !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Coach McDaniels: If you are reading these posts, please consider leaving Hillis in the FB/RB role and drafting an actually NFL RunningBack.

Also, please ignore any post about Ryan Torain…….(you don’t wanna know).

    Thanks coach…….

  19. Gray Caldwell says:

    Al Wilson 4 Mayor:
As I told rev79, Carlton Powell has been around the facilities a decent amount this offseason, still working with Greek on occasion to rehab his injury, and Ryan Torain (who is also still here rehabbing) said he has hung out with him a few times to watch some playoff games. Powell certainly has potential, especially due to his big role in a solid defensive front at Virginia Tech. Certainly looking forward to seeing him in action come next season.

    monodono:
The Broncos haven’t officially announced any of the assistant coaching hires yet, though those announcements could come as soon as today, and the full staff could be assembled this week. Not entirely sure on the timetable, but rest assured as soon as anything is official, DenverBroncos.com will have it posted.

Thanks for the comments and questions, keep them coming.
