13 Prospects to Visit Denver

April 4th, 2011 - 10:50am by Gray Caldwell

In the lead-up to the 2011 NFL Draft, the Broncos are allowed to invite 30 prospects to Denver for a private workout. According to Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway on Twitter, the Broncos will knock out 13 of those visits just this week.

“Busy week ahead with 13 of our 30 allotted draft prospect visits scheduled to meet with us at our facility,” Elway wrote. “Da’Quan Bowers, Nick Fairley and Von Miller are among the players that we are bringing in this week. These visits are an opportunity for us to get to know the prospects better personally and also gauge their football knowledge.”

All three of those players have been tied to the Broncos in recent mock drafts, and a Denver contingent has been to pro days at Texas A&M and Auburn, where Miller and Fairley, respectively, worked out.

Kengro, there is nothing we can do to really “hurt” the players directly other than rebelling against the league as a whole and the financial trickle down effect of it will eventually reach the players, i.e. less overall revenue = smaller share to the players.

Anyhow I think a few bloggers are losing track of what’s really important in this matter; it’s the principle of things.

I mean we fans are being completely ignored and set aside in the matter regardless of how either side is sugar coating it! We are the ones sustaining the business and we have no say in the matter, there is something terribly wrong with that.

So we speak up and are calling for boycotting of some sort from every fan and in the end the hope is that all that will precipitate both sides to use more common sense in the matter and resolve the situation asap. Not to mention that if a boycott is successful, down the road they will think twice before going down this road again. Baseball fans gave a clear message to their league after their last debacle, there is no reason we can’t have the same resolve and make our voices heard, through their pocket book that is, unfortunately it’s the only way.

    Money talks, b.s. walks.

And thanks to all the guys who appreciated my letter and worded it here.

As far as posting it on NFL football websites throughout the country I think this is a good idea, but way too much of a job for one man, so this is what I propose:

Any of you guys are welcome to copy and paste my letter to any site you wish as much as you want. You can find it on this blog “13 prospects to visit Denver” April 4, 12:48pm (previous page).

And as an intro you could simply say:

Even so this letter is addressed to Mr. Bowlen, owner of the Denver Broncos, it was truly meant for all the owners in the NFL.

  3. baylinorcrush says:

Ooops, since this posted on top of a new page, my letter is two pages ago now, not the previous page.

  4. baylinorcrush says:

Ok, I successfully started out with the KC Chiefs official website, check it out:

  5. 3rdGeneration says:

Nice Bay, maybe we should take divisions to make it easier. I’ll do the NFC west. Any other takers? I’ll have to do it when I get home from work because I’m on my phone and this is too complicated for phone work.

  6. baylinorcrush says:

Nice 3rd, I think that could be an effective way to promote fans unity.

  7. baylinorcrush says:

BTW, it double posted on the KC site on its own, I’m not that obnoxious, hahaha!

  8. seweatherman1 says:

The Tampa Bucs do not have a post site as yet, but I just put it on their facebook page, so they are taken care of.

  9. 3rdGeneration says:

Leave it to the “Chefs” to make their website obnoxious.

  10. baylinorcrush says:

    The latest:

The Broncos are bringing in linebacker Mason Foster of Washington, defensive tackle Marvin Austin of North Carolina and Nevada quarterback Colin Kaepernick this week.

  11. baylinorcrush says:

Good to see the weatherman doing his part.

  12. baylinorcrush says:

And the ones visiting we already were aware of:

The Broncos will meet today with DE Bowers, linebacker Von Miller, defensive tackle Nick Fairley on Wednesday and quarterback Cam Newton on April 19.

  13. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Thx for the info on players bay and it was a nice letter. While at it, we might as well spread the week one revolt while postin Baylins letter.

  14. 1nOnlyTRB says:

I know u mentioned revolting, and that u will refrain for a year but one sound day/week that everyone agrees on will be a clear hard to miss dagger. Definitely support no direct tv ticket purchases cuz thats a large way they get thier money as well. I watch all my stuff another way anyway thx to a email chain/list I belong to lol.

  15. baylinorcrush says:

BTW, since a few bloggers are totally enamored with Marvin Austin, it is worth posting the overall word on him in his home of North Carolina:

Austin is good enough and his position valuable enough to warrant a high draft pick come April. The perception that he’s a “me first” player, however, could lead to a significant drop.

  16. baylinorcrush says:

Rebellion, not revolt, it has a nicer sound to it! LOL.

  17. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Washington LB Mason Foster is “not going to last past the second round,” league sources tell the Miami Herald.
He went 54th to the Eagles in our latest mock. Foster is the most productive non-rush linebacker in the 2011 draft class, having recorded more tackles in his college career than any player at the position in the last five years. (Patrick Willis and Rolando McClain included.) Foster also forced eight fumbles and projects as a weak-side linebacker in a 4-3 defense. Apr. 4 – 6:33 pm et

More than Patrick Willis is very impressive even if he is not a pass rusher, lucky we run the 4-3

  18. 1nOnlyTRB says:

lol funny enough, it kinda does sound better lol

  19. baylinorcrush says:

And Legwold keeps blowing me away this off season with a lengthy article about why we should be pondering about QB Christian Ponder. Is age having that much of a factor on Jeff, or is it something in the water in the mile high city, or is the lack of oxygen up there finally taking it’s toll?

Bottom line I don’t know how much longer I can say that Legwold is one of the best sports writer we got, I might have to go with “used to have” instead…

  20. seweatherman1 says:

Posting to nfl.com was a problem, but it is done. Had to split letter into two parts.

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d81f15b06/comments/nfl-refuses-to-meet-with-nflpa-lawyers-ahead-of-hearing

  21. baylinorcrush says:

    Mason’s weaknesses:
•Lacks the speed to make plays sideline to sideline
    •Lacks range in coverage
•Does not display lateral agility and change of direction
•Could struggle to run with running backs and tight ends in coverage

Not exactly any major improvement over what we’ve seen with our OLBs, in fact it seems as he exhibits basically kind of the same weaknesses, i.e. TE coverage, man we were awful there!

  22. 1nOnlyTRB says:

Funny enough they say that, but he Greg Jones had more tackles than Mason foster

    Mason Foster OLB 6’1 245lb 4.75 40 time
    372tckls 6FF 4INT

    Greg Jones ILB 6’0 242lb 4.75 40 time
    464tckls 3FF 2INT

Greg Jones was once a late first round mid second round pick. Heard talk he fell to 3rd round because he lacked ideal size and ran a slow 40. Sizes look the same, 40 is the same … but jones was more of a tackling machine. height weight and 40 are combine official

  23. strandoftds says:

In all probabilitys, Glax most likely did get 86ed. As Bay put it his comments were way over the top. To take cheap shots at Coop or anybody like that is unacceptable.

  24. 1nOnlyTRB says:

haha, u have a very good point. TE coverage should be the number 1 thing we are looking for cuz we suck in that category major and have for years.

  25. baylinorcrush says:

Wow, kudos to you weatherman, you are going the extra mile on this, all NFL fans shall be glad to have you on board with this.

  26. strandoftds says:

Weathermans the MAN! That`ll put a dent in their pocketbooks.

  27. 1nOnlyTRB says:

haha, thats a prime spot for the letter

  28. strandoftds says:

Maybe Legwold doesn`t have anything better to wright about. There`s a chance that he just wants to add fuel to the fire that there`s a QB controversy. Wrighters need controversy to start a fire.

  29. sndvl says:

I like your idea baylin. I’ll take care of the NFC West.

I like Marvin Austin too. Combined with Paea…watch out…lol

  30. sndvl says:

    oops. meant NFC North…haha

  31. baylinorcrush says:

Yeah sndvl, if everybody does a little bit we should have the airwaves covered in no time at all and if nothing else a seed will have been planted.

Only out of doing nothing comes nothing!!!

P.S. 3rdGeneration said earlier he would take care of the NFC West later today, but it really doesn’t matter, the more posted everywhere the better.

  32. baylinorcrush says:

    Ok then.

  33. seweatherman1 says:

Thanks guys, but I just figured as mad as I, as well as others are on this site, that when I saw that article on NFL.com, I just figured that that would get to more than just other bloggers on each team individual sites, especially since I saw that Tampa Bucs are “re-vamping” their community board site until the fall.

  34. baylinorcrush says:

The Raiders do not have an interactive blog site, I guess all their fans have been banned as a whole, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  35. baylinorcrush says:

BTW, just going into a few sites from other teams shows me, like TRB always says, that we are some of the best and most dedicated fans in the NFL by far!!!

  36. seweatherman1 says:

    Jacksonville Jaguars is posted.

  37. baylinorcrush says:

Now I’m taking care of the state I live in, done with the Texans:

  38. baylinorcrush says:

It’s a good start guys, keep it up!

  39. sndvl says:

Ok, NFC North is done. Kind of. The Bears dont have a blog…lol. So I posted on their forum. GB was a nice format. The comment is posted. DET and MIN are a little tricky. On DET board, my comment is awaitng moderation. In the MIN blog, nothing. So it was either deleted or awaiting moderation as well. Ill check back in a couple hours!

  40. seweatherman1 says:

I just checked out the Miami Fins site and they apparanterly have no site for bloggers. At least I can’t find one. Soooo that takes care of Florida teams.

  41. seweatherman1 says:

bay, with your permission, I have some folks in the sports casting business that I would like to send this letter to. Maybe they will get it out on the t.v. and radio media as well.

  42. seweatherman1 says:

What is with all of these teams shutting down their blogs until the fall? They can’t dfind anything to talk about?

  43. baylinorcrush says:

It sure makes you appreciate ours!

By example on the Cowboy website in order to post they wanted my name address etc incl. shoe size!! haha, so I passed.

Of course anyone here can do anything they want with that letter, I really don’t have any problem with any of that, it came from the heart, I don’t want a patent or any rights on it, LOL, heck I write stuff like that all the time, it just comes pouring out.

  44. seweatherman1 says:

I know bay, but yoy do put things in a whole lot better words than i can. This is what I have been saying all along about the CBA. Way back several blogs ago, just didn’t know exactly how to say it. They are putting the sc…s to us fans for sure!

  45. Mikeyb1203 says:

Bay if you don’t mind me asking what do or did you do as a profession?
