Around the NFL today, teams are commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The NFL and NFLPA have pledged a $1 million donation to various 9/11 charities and memorials. Additionally, the league has given players permission to wear special gloves and shoes that pay tribute to those who passed in the tragic events of that day and all sideline personnel will wear special patriotic-themed ribbons.
The Broncos will honor the victims of 9/11 with a pregame entertainment lineup that includes the singing of America the Beautiful and the Parade of Colors with Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, Police & Fire participation. All fans in attendance will receive American flags, and are being asked to participate in a group singing of the National Anthem.
“I was actually in New York during 9/11,” Head Coach John Fox recalled. “We actually just got done playing the Broncos and we flew back. It’s pretty amazing that that’s been 10 years and it’s kind of something that’s sort of etched in your mind forever if you were in New York during those times—I think that’s probably true for everybody.”
“Everything stopped from what I remember,” safety Brian Dawkins said. “To me it just seemed like everything stopped, and everybody was focused on the television sets and what was going on. If you’d gone and looked outside, you probably wouldn’t have seen too many cars on the road. To do what we’re doing for those families that have lost, the way that America changed because of that, obviously is a huge thing that I’m happy to be a part of.”

It won’t be here because Fox wants to win now, and Cinci looks better than advertised too, so does Buffalo, not to mention Carolina, who is to say Newton was a bad first pick now, NFL all time first game passing record with over 420 yards!!! Colts could very well have the inside track to Luck and Pollian is not wasting his time. Let’s just hope he doesn’t go to KC, LOL.
Haha, just another QQ in the making.
This sucks everyone gets to talk about how their team has done and I’m one of two Broncos fans where I work and I’m like nope play tonight. Then they give me the stink eye.
Yeah, I saw Scheffler’s TD for Detroit.
well brian, you can brag and say that your team is still undefeated! haha
Oh well, McD cleaned house of all the playmakers we had, pretty much. Not much we can do about it now except watch them be successful in other jerseys.
I don’t know about them bowing out of that contract, but I did talk to a close friend of mine over the weekend and he, along with his sister, who both are in the business of these neck surgeries that Manning has had, said that his career is virtually over. He can get rehab and go back out and play, but, it is with the knowledge that just one wrong hit and he is screwed. Chances of being peralized or suffering some ir-repairable damage is almost a guarantee if he goes back on that field. I am not sure I would like those odds on my shoulder for a decision. So, whastever the Colts thought that they were going to do this season, just went out the window unless they can get themeselves a qb and quick.
Trade Orton to them???
One stiff to another, hahahaha.
I am not sweating Carolina much this year. Newton is good, but as we all know, without a defense, he and one or two of his receivers can not win games. That was proven to them yestrerday.
Orton will not go. He has something to prove here. What it is? I have no clue, but he is going to go out and prove it none the less.
This may have been discussed before and I missed it, but I just read an interesting article that said Doom is set up to have an excellent night. Apparently the tackle that he will be matching up with is 6’8″. That’s a 9″ height difference. He’s gonna have to get SO low to match Doom that he’ll probably have a rough time keeping up. I really think that Campbell is in for a really long night.
Depending on how our front 7 on defense perform, it could be a long night of Campbell handing the ball off…
I have a gut feeling that Campbell is going to have a long night, npo what he tries to do with the ball. We must remember that our D is going out there tonight especially to prove something and “revenge” is strongly on their minds.
I hope our defense plays fast, physical, and smart. I know when you go out there to prove something and revenge in on your mind you sometimes don’t have your head entirely in the game. I hope they come out hot and remain hot for 4 quarters, I hope our entire team plays like that. Playing a full 4 quarters is something that we haven’t been able to do for a long time.
I agree. I think Fox and company will be able to keep their heads in the right place. Remember he is no where like what we had on the sidelines in the past. Ridiculing the players after a mistake. He is a coach, in every sense of the word. Our D will do just fine and make us proud. VonDoom is going to makew Campbell hurt. He will have pain tomorrow in places that he doesn’t even know he has places. haha
What’s up in KC? Looks like they might be in early season turmoil. I read Cassel averged 3.3 yds per pass play. Was Dareus a factor?
No, just two tackles and gave KC a first down on a penalty, not exactly stellar for his first game.
I read Chargers had a couple of injuires… place kicker and DT Luis Castillo. Their ST’s gave up an opening KO return as well.
I think all teams should just bring it out of the endzone on kickoffs. Force the kickoff coverage to be honest so to speak. Plus if all the teams continue to return the kickoffs maybe the league will switch it back to to 30 yard line again. I definitely think we’ll see more returns going for TDs on kickoffs. Not that there will be more returns for TDs but the ratio of returns to TDs could be greater. That makes sense in my head…
I am just trying to clarify we are allowed 46 active players for the game correct?
IF the blocking is good, the blocking is good, whether u are 5 yards deep or not. The good returners know by now what they can work with. NFL coaches and players always adapt … no different with the kick off situations.
Hey look, Newton, a guy they compared to Tebow, a Guy they reaped apart is doing good. Sure he will play like a rookie/newbie sometimes … cuz he is but all it takes is a lil faith and designing an offense that best suits the player.
Orton has nothing to prove here. Honestly I don’t think he cares what any of us think. Maybe his teammates but thats about it. After this is done, he will go get a job elsewhere and move on with his life.
Lotta apparent change swirling in the NFL … now its just week one … but sometimes week one loses have a way of slowing momentum and cramping ur style for the rest of the year …. sometimes it motivates teams. Who knows … we will seee.
And yes I believe we can have 1 more player active and if that means 46 instead of 45 then i believe u are correct. Because of the whole not having to designate a QB thing anymore. TRB
Hail Mary Full of Grace, Thank God the Romo is not in Orton’s place.
Redskins’ olap, I think that’s about the first time I agree with you, Romo has turned out to be the ultimate loser, a combination of bad luck that seems to follow him whenever the going gets tough helped by a total collapse of his brain cells capacities the more crucial things get. Orton does freak out in front of adversity in pressure situations but at least he seems to have better luck, or at least not as bad a luck, haha. Jerry Jones must of been fuming at that loss, 15 minutes before the end of the game they showed him doing high fives like in his booth, then the floor fell off, hahahaha.
Romo lost the game for the Cowboys all by his lonesome.
I sure hope K.C. isn`t in the bidding for Andrew Luck, I`ll shed tears over that one, God please no!
I hope we score 75 points tonight and whip the raiders bad. “Revenge is a dish best served cold.” Star Trek 2 the Wrath of Khan. Lol
Further to other comments on the Bears and Cutler if you see his press conferences you can see his loss of weight since last year and he looks really fit. What impressed me was the way he tried to tackle the DE after his throw was blocked and then intercepted. So much for not trying.
