Yeah, this is the nitty gritty of it by Klis, congratulations to him, he has quicker detailed info than most national media:
The NFL lockout appears to be near its end.
The NFL owners have voted to approve the settlement terms of the collective bargaining agreement proposal that was negotiated with the league’s players association.
The players association is scheduled to vote on the CBA terms shortly via conference call. Brian Dawkins , who is the Broncos’ player rep and member of the players’ association executive committee, will represent Denver.
If the executive committee and 32 player reps approve the proposal as expected, the lockout will essentially end and the business of the 2011 NFL season can commence.
Players can start reporting to the team facilities on Saturday, although many of the Broncos players plan on working out one more time with personal trainer Loren Landow on Friday.
The first preseason game, the Hall of Fame game scheduled for Aug. 7 between the St. Louis Rams and Chicago Bears has been cancelled because there would not be enough time for the teams to prepare for it. The Hall of Fame induction ceremony, which will include Broncos great Shannon Sharpe, will take place as scheduled on Aug. 6.
Teams will be allowed to sign their draft picks and own free agents beginning Monday with other free agents hitting the market Wednesday.
The Broncos are scheduled to report to training camp Wednesday with the first practice to be held Thursday morning at the team’s headquarters. There is much work to be done between now and then as the Broncos will need to negotiate up to 30 new contracts between undrafted rookies, draft picks and veteran free agents.
“It’s an unprecedented time,” Dawkins said. “That hasn’t happened before, do all those things in a short period of time. I’m pretty sure that won’t be unique to the Broncos. Every team will be going through that.”
The owners vote was 31-0 with Oakland Raiders maverick owner Al Davis abstaining.
Of course Al Davis would abstain, he can’t tell the yes box from the no box, haha.
I understant that the new league year starts next wed, but im curious if the talks on behalf of free agency and trading can begin now. also talks on rookies and all that stuff. I mean u cant officially do stuff till certain set dates but talking can be done i hope. TRB out…
Well, I am not hoping to jinx the whole cba getting done but I am going to celebrate early and am going out tonight to one of Wilmington’s best clubs where they have domestic beers there for ONLY $1!!! Hahaha, I will let you all know how that goes probably sometime tomorrow! Hopefully, when I get back on tomorrow, I will see all of this awesome news regarding you know what!!! Night my Bronco Bros and here’s to the new CBA!!!!
I LOVE ME SOME BRONCOS COUNTRY!!!
Rookies signings and own FA signing starts Monday and I’m sure phones will be ringing off the hook as soon as players are allowed into teams facilities tomorrow.
Actually Klis is saying players can report Saturday, so to me that’s when anyone would be able to talk to anyone about any player.
And I should celebrate too but I’m going to the Doc tomorrow and I don’t want it to be worse than already is, haha.
Well, I’m wore out….
Here’s a short list of CFA’s courtesy of NFL network, that will most likely go fast:
1. Pat Devlin, QB, Delaware: Has size needed to succeed at the position, to go with accuracy and football intelligence.
2. Mark Herzlich, LB, Boston College: His battle against cancer is well documented and speaks to his hunger to play. If healthy, he can play all downs.
3. Derrick Locke, RB, Kentucky: Has quickness and speed needed for success at running back.
4. DeAndre McDaniel, S, Clemson: Has all the traits needed to be a good safety.
5. Jake Kirkpatrick, C, TCU: A former high school basketball player who is strong and smart and has traits that remind some of Colts veteran Jeff Saturday.
6. Mario Fannin, RB, Auburn: Oustanding speed and pass-catching ability. Makes a lot of plays.
7. Nick Bellore, LB, Central Michigan: Very competitive linebacker. One of the all-time top tacklers in the MAC. Great special teams player.
8. Willie Smith, OT, East Carolina: Smart offensive tackle with long arms and good athletic ability. Excellent pass blocker.
9. Ray Dominguez, G, Arkansas: Strong guard who has the chance to start for someone in his second year.
10. Brandon Bair, DT, Oregon: Needs to add weight but has the frame to do so. Very active.
11. Sealver Siliga, DT, Utah: Strong at the point of attack and reminds some of another Utah product, Dolphins defensive tackle Paul Soliai.
12. Dane Sanzenbacher, WR, Ohio State: Slot receiver who will catch the ball across the middle and has outstanding hands.
13. Kendric Burney, CB, North Carolina: Lacks great speed but makes up for it with quickness and ball skills. Very good tackler.
14. John Clay, RB, Wisconsin: Strong, inside runner in the mold of Blount.
15. Ian Williams, DT, Notre Dame: A four-year starter at Notre Dame who is very strong and athletic.
16. Ricardo Lockette, WR, Fort Valley State: Teams love speed, and he is the fastest player available of all undrafted free agents.
17. Scott Tolzien, QB, Wisconsin: Smart quarterback with good but not great arm. Has been very successful with accuracy and ability to hit the right receivers.
18. Noel Devine, RB, West Virginia: Not tall, has great speed, production and hands. Possible WR/KR prospect.
19. Kyle Hix, OT, Texas: Long arms, very strong. Doesn’t have good enough feet to play LT but could be good on right side.
20. Zach Hurd, G, Connecticut: He played guard at UConn but his best position might be as a RT because of his size and strength.
Noel Divine should be a lot higher on that list. Glad to see John Clay on the list tho. Very LeGerrette Blount minus the anger issues. S DeAndre McDaniels is actually pretty good. Projected 3rd/4th if i remember correctly. Just too bad he is a head case. Heard he pushed his girl friend down the stairs or somethign like that. Yikes … TRB out…
I think our best choice on that list however is Mario Fannin. He is pretty good. 5’10 231 and runs a 4.3. Bruiser size with great speed, and he is such a phenomenal reciever. We would be wise to hop on that. Would be cheap and hopefully effective. Time will tell, but the idea of a football season actually around the corner excites me (Barring any nflpa setbacks. TRB out…
Yep, NFLPA setbacks so far. This is far beyond stupid. Maybe the networks can air college games on Sundays for our delight.
if you heard what Jeff Pash said when it came to the talk of the players recertification it says it all. He said “assuming you believe they were ever decertified in the first place” or something like that. Based of that, and D. Smith trying to sell why they are going the signature route and that its serious and blah blah blah. You can tell both sides still dissagree on whether the decertification was real. The point im trying to make is that D. Smith is taking the long route to get certified to make it look like a bigger deal than it is, and more official, just to have the morale victory of saying, we DID decertify, it was a serious decision and not a legal strategy, when we all know the truth. Selfish IMO and silly.
Not sure if it had been posted but this is surprising given the current state of affairs. Of it’s true, then Kudos to you weapon X

The key terms to the agreement have finally been revealed in details by the NFL:
http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_18524603
Too long to post here.
Actually the original copy at NFL.com is better because it also has all the League schedules starting this Saturday thru Sept 20th, make a copy and file it, invaluable info you won’t have to always ask some of us here for, haha:
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d820e6311/printable/nfl-clubs-approve-comprehensive-agreement-
TRB, my guess was right teams can talk to and negotiate with FAs starting this Saturday at 2pm but they can’t sign them until the 27th, 2pm also.
Players are saying the fans are on their side and that the owners slipped things in that they did not agree on weren’t both sets of lawyers working together how did they get that done
That thing is laid out awesome, it was a lot of work and good organization planning to fit all that in such a narrow time frame, and the terms are such that if the players turn it down they would be the scum of the Earth for as long as I live. But it’s a done deal, the players have already said they agree with the terms, the team players’ reps just need to each sign to it with the executive committee and then all that’s left is the stupid re-certification to be done by Tuesday and we are not looking back until 2021!
The players are stupid, how can they be expected to remember what they agreed to, LOL.
The fans are on the player’s side, that’s funny, talk about delusional…
what does it mean what al davis did or didn t do. and why.
Just something about DeMaurice Smith, he has the kind of face you want to punch in the mouth, and come to think of it he has the kind of face that looks like he’s been punched in the mouth a lot, serious take a good look, LOL.
You missed my answer to that question on top of this page:
Of course Al Davis would abstain, he can’t tell the yes box from the no box on the voting sheet, haha.
It’s like the voting in Florida, too many retirees.
i did see it and had a good chuckle. just wondering seriously why when everyone else voted yes.
It’s his right, just didn’t have a stance one way or the other, could care less I guess, seen it all. Like Switzerland, neutral.
thanks, bay. wasnt sure. but now just more reason to talk crap to my raider buddies.
Maybe that’s it, just had to take a crap and it slipped his mind.
The mind is a slippery slope, haha.
Too much prune juice.
Got enough material for your Raider buddies now?
It amazes me how so many on this blog, who have, really, little or no information as to what goes on in the negotiation room, can then extrapolate to the point they “know” what it’s all about … I realize it’s frustration, we want a pro-football season, but come on guys – wait it out … they’ll get it done when they get it done … and Bay – your info is probably best of all on here, cause you go looking for it and you pay attention, but lately you’ve been taking a lot of gutter swipes at people … you’re too smart to sink that low, in my opinion …
bay thanks. its a great start. lol.
looks like eveyone is just stressed out because of the lockout.
You guys know why the players are reluctant to sign this agreement right away, one that they basically previously agreed to? Because they are shocked that all but one owner voted for it and no one against it making them think that this deal must be too good for the owners, it makes them think they could of gotten more. I’d be willing to bet they are stunned but realize they are now cornered into signing it and will do so eventually but probably with some regrets. Poor players.
I can get away with it by putting LOLs and hahas and making jokes in the process, you must be a big D Smith fan? Or who else did I put down, the stupid players? Well yeah but I’m always politically correct in saying the majority, haha. It’s all in good fun bud, sorry you don’t always get my sense of humor, doesn’t always come through on blogs but I did have some pretty good jokes today I hear.
Or it’s about Al Davis since you live in California?
i live in california and i can care less for al davis or the raiders
Lots of Bronco fans in California, I had a lot of Bronco buddies in Colorado who after school moved to California, mainly around San Francisco.
Anyhow sorry if I upset anybody today, just a long drawn out day where it was critical to keep a sense of humor just to make it through. I was on a LOT, like the last three pages of this blog.
No, actually it started four pages back with my regular morning comments and basically never stopped trying to stay on top of this cba mess.
Hey, if you come on to say something personal to me wiemin you should at least give me a follow up, otherwise no sense in communicating in the first place, right?
Some of the players are acting like jerks. Get this deal done or they will start really losing the fan base.
They pull out of this deal and the ramifications will be worse than anything they could ever imagine, this is the last real hard deadline for a full season, no other way around it.
We can already see the insanity of what has to be accomplished in the next few weeks in the calendar listed by the NFL in my earlier link, I just couldn’t imagine what a season would look like with any less time to prepare for it, honestly.
One jab and gone, not my style, oh well need some zzzzs now.
I tried to respond, but for some reason the blog didn’t accept my lengthy treatise … oh, welll ….
Here we go again…the saga contnues. Now the players may vote Friday, but the interview that just aired on the sports channel with one of the players said they might or it may be the first of next week. They just received the 500 plus page document earlier this afternoon and it will take them time to go through it carefully.
I am beginning to wonder if any of them can even read, let alone know what they are reading?
Anyone know why the Raiders abstained from voting?
