The Season of Giving Continues

December 10th, 2007 - 1:49pm by cindy_galloway

Last Tuesday proved to be another special holiday moment as we had our annual holiday party with the Denver Rescue Mission Crossing facility.  We adopted every room currently occupied at the Crossing and approximately 40 families were treated to an old fashioned Christmas experience–gifts, dinner and cheer!!!

My favorite moment of the evening came when a young child about 3 yrs. old all dressed up in a Christmas sweater vest was so taken with the excitment that he literally began jumping up and down with joy–to see the holiday spirit through the eyes of a child is something every adult should make a point of doing each and every year.  That is where true inspiration is born.

Our players were very gracious spreading holiday cheer (many sporting Santa hats) and I was really proud of all of them.  Champ Bailey hosted this year as he has become a regular visitor and supporter of the Crossing facility.  He was joined by Ring of Fame member Billy Thompson and fellow teammates Andre Hall, Hamza Abdullah, Glenn Martinez, Elvis Dumervil, Nate Jackson, Daniel Graham, Louis Green, and Chad Mustard (doing double time in the community last week as he was also at Dick’s Sporting Goods the night before for the annual Shop With A Bronco program).

Speaking of Chad, we are proud to recognize him with our monthly Denver Broncos Community Champion of the Month award for December as he has been out and about doing good work all over the metro area.

Back to the Crossing party, each family was gifted with a wonderful bag of holiday goodies including a fleece Broncos blanket to keep the winter chill at bay, certificates for both Target and King Soopers, holiday candy and a Broncos team picture.  I do think for the kids, though, the highlight was mingling with our players and watching the Grinch in the Broncos Youth Center.

While the movie was playing, the parents got a much needed break and peacefully enjoyed a traditional holiday meal of turkey with all the trimmings:  stuffing and mashed potatoes and decadent holiday pies complete with cider and cocoa…we love to work with Epicurean Catering each year on this party as they really do provide some special touches for the families.

Overall, it was just a really special evening and all of us in our office were happy to start off our holiday season in this fashion with so many wonderful families and the very kind and gracious folks at the Denver Rescue Mission.

Have a great week in Broncos Country…
