Champions in the Community

June 15th, 2012 - 10:58am by Gray Caldwell

The inaugural Be a Champion in the Community Week was by all accounts a great success.

Eighty-eight percent of the roster participated in the week of community outreach, which ran from June 2 to June 9.

In all, 79 players participated in a total of 22 projects in the community, which included three Habitat for Humanity builds, serving meals at two Denver Rescue Mission locations, visits to two Ronald McDonald Houses, participating in the Denver Heart and Stroke Walk, visits to the Broncos Boys & Girls Club and the Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children and a Broncos Bunch Summer Kickoff for Kids at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

A photo gallery of some of the events is available here.

Vice President of Community Development Cindy Kellogg said that in addition to the sheer number of players that participated, it was their professionalism as they helped out in the community in such a meaningful way that truly stood out.

The team expects the week to become an annual tradition, and in the mean time, the Broncos ask Broncos Country, “What can you do to be a champion in the community?”

He who must not be named for Cat=Josh McDaniels

well dont forget he who must not be named flopped here and flopped in st louis. before new england he didnt coach nfl offense so his body of work is small and BAD. he had elite talent and one of the best qb’s and wr to ever play the game on his team, and he made them look good. its not hard to do. now if he was a ‘genious’, then he wouldve came here and made us a great team or at least he wouldve gotten better and better over time. but he didnt. his offense was figured out and it all went straight downhill after that. then he drafted a widely considered average qb and never did anything with him because he was FIRED FOR INEPTNESS!!! then he went to st louis and their offense was the worst in the league. they averaged something like 14 points a game. if he was this genious that wouldnt have happened and he wouldntve been fired AGAIN by a team (st. louis) only to go back to the only spot he had any success for a very short time. a place with elite talent there provided by someone else. we’ll see how he does the next couple of years and if he takes the o in ne to elite status again then maybe we can start talking like he is anything special. but right now he is nothing special at all. i dont see where that opinion would even come from considering his body of work. yes some good but a TON of bad too. the only people that would look at mcd and somehow see a great coach would be someone who would look at tebow and somehow see a great qb…… yall know i had to put that last sentence in there and i’m just kidding!!!!! GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!

Don’t forget LBF, he who must not be named could’ve started Tebow and he didn’t because he didn’t make the progress he thought he would have and then he started those last two games because Kyle Orton was “hurt.” And when people were screaming for Tebow to start he refused to put him in and was eventually fired for other reasons… But this might be the way i see it… Not saying others see it the same way.He lost out to Orton in training camp beFore the 2010 season, but he was a rookie so we’ll give him that. But he has a chance to beat Orton out at the beginning of last season and he didn’t do it. We’ll see if he can do it this season. I’m just glad that we aren’t being asked “Who is your starting QB” ALLL THE TIME! One more reason The Neck is good to have around.

He who must not be named win loss record as a Head Coach: 11-17

And with the Rams? And a better QB than Kyle Orton? 2-14

I know I said I wasn’t going to say anything, but he is not a genius or the best offensive mind in the game today according to this record. My personal opinion? He should’ve never offended a good QB he already had by trying to bring in Matt Cassel just because he was his pet project. Just throwin it out there!!!! and FYI, that’s NOT what John Elway did (-; he actually got who he wanted, McDaniels was stuck with Kyle Orton.

BUT IT’S all water under the bridge (-; Peyton Freaking Manning!!

I hope I never said McD was a great coach??? He was a terrible coach. He was awful at keeping talented players on his game plan.

That is very different from saying he is a great football intellectual.

I’d love to see McD game plan for Tebow. I absolutely believe that had McD been the OC for the Broncos last year we would have added at least the KC game to the positive side of our record and we would not have had near as many 3 and outs. We would have had a game plan to work with. (McCoy will do fine working with Manning – Manning for Bronco OC!!!)

Ya sorry db while on my rant i kinda morphed my description of what was said from genious to coach. I know you never said coach but my argument against his genius still applies. And maybe he didn’t put in tebow in because of a little buyers remorse? Maybe what he saw in practice told him he better not use him. Mcd’s o was complicated as can be remember and tebow couldnt gain hardly any yards passing in mccoys super simple offense. I know it wasnt designed for a whole lot of passing but there were chances for throws to open receivers that were flat out missed all game long. Mcd’s o was too much for tebow i can all but guarantee that

    Good Morning Broncos Country!

Hope everyone had a great weekend and Father’s Day. Had a nice BBQ with the in-laws and got a nice framed picture and a sweet telescopic ladder. Funny that all my gifts lately are for helping me with chores around the house! LMAO

Unless there’s some breaking news, I’m sure the blog will continue this torrent pace! lol Oh well, the regulars will chime in from time to time I’m sure.

I personally refuse to discuss McD. I don’t have anything positive to say what-so-ever. We’r still picking up the pieces of the damage he did to our organization and for any Bronco fan to say anything positive about this guy as it relates to our team is pure blasphemy! For someone with such a high football IQ, he did a great job of dismantling an already potent offience, losing the looker rom and drafting horrible talent. That is all I have to say on that matter. LBF summed it up pretty good in his previous post.

Hoping that the signing of Prater happens this week………

  12. tlcat06 says:

DB, well I’m just glad that we have THE best football IQ on our team now. That’s all that matter.

  13. killerkod says:
