Broncos Wives Drive…Drive to End Hunger and Homelessness

October 9th, 2007 - 12:38pm by pam_krotchko

The Broncos Wives gathered this past Sunday prior to the Broncos vs. Chargers game in an effort to tackle hunger and homelessness in Denver for their annual Broncos Wives Drive.  This year marked the 26th year of this great tradition within Broncos Country!  With Annabel Bowlen and Peggy Shanahan leading the charge alongside many players, coaches and staff member wives collecting cash donations at all of the gates prior to the game.  Many of wives even came with their children to help collect donations and to meet the Broncos Fans.

The Broncos Wives would like to thank ALL of the Broncos Fans that contributed helping them raise nearly $40,000 in cash donations and over 1600 pounds of food donations in their effort to support hunger and homelessness initiatives in Denver.

Cash donations are given to Denver Broncos Charities and distributed in the form of grants to Denver area non-profit organizations that help the hungry and homeless.  The non-perishable food donations are given to COMPA Food Bank Ministry and distributed to area food pantries.

In addition, to the Gameday collection, the Broncos Wives Drive also coordinate their annual Community Drive and Schools Drive.

For those fans that want to help but could not attend the game, The Broncos Wives Drive, through their partnership with U.S. Bank and King Soopers have collection bins at all participating Denver Metro U.S. Bank and  King Soopers locations collecting non-perishable food items throughout the month of October.   New this year, King Soopers customers are able donate to the Wives Drive by electing to donate while checking out through the Broncos Wives Drive checkstand display scan at each register…look for your opportunity next time you shop!

Over 50 Denver metro area schools are currently participating in the Schools Drive.  Each school that chooses to participate will collect non-perishable food items for a three-week period, October 1st through October 19th.  The top Elementary/Private, Middle and High school that collect the most non-perishable food items will receive an all school assembly with a Broncos player, Broncos wives representatives, Broncos mascot, Miles and members of the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders.

Thank you Broncos fans for your continued support of the Broncos Wives Drive!  YOU are Champions in the Community!

I know this is a long shot but I am trying to get in contact with someone who might help me. I am the team mom for our local Mesa County Cowboys Heavyweight Football Team in Fruita Colorado. I am trying to see if there is someone I could contact in possible getting something for the boys on our team. It could be anything. A jersey, a football. Anything that we could use. We have 30 boys but even if we could get one thing I could have a drawing. These boys love thier Broncos and it would be great if I could contact a few players that might sign something. I believe Mr Foxworth and Mr Henry would. My son went to thier camps. Can you help me find someone?? Thank you Cindy

    To Whom it May Concern:

I am a family friend of a young couple who are expecting their first offspring – and in their case the offspring are quadruplets.

Billy and Monica Graf are amazing Denver Bronco fans and find incredible ways to catch every game, despite having to relocate from Wichita, Kansas to Phoenix, Arizona. This move was necessary in order for Monica to be under the care of a multiple-birth specialist at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center.

Although they are situated over a thousand miles from home, the one constant of being able to cheer for the Broncos this fall has bound us all together. Despite being such a tangental part of their current situation, your organization has carried us through tentative times, as these four little ones are literally day to day.

I have given all of ten minutes of thought as to what it is I am asking for, but in any event would appreciate knowing if there is a Public Relations Department employee who I may be able to contact. As you may gather, we are unfortunately in Kansas City Chiefs’ territory and an act of goodwill from the Denver Bronco organization would mean the world to these two (or six), and may be of interest to the organization and/or to the team.

At the end of this message is a hyperlink to the couple’s web-based blog page, as well as their picture taken prior to the Pittsburg game last week. Perhaps a quick glance would familiarize you with their situation and inspire the organization to donate a small token of appreciation to these two people as a way to say thanks for being incredible and steadfast fans.

Thank you for your time, and any help is appreciated in advance. Please do not hesitate to contact me for further information, as this is an important time in our family’s lives.

    Sincerely,

    Russ Ewy
