Thanks to a $200,000 donation from the NFL, Pueblo City Schools will renovate the turf of Dutch Clark Stadium in time for the upcoming NFL season.
The Broncos provided a letter of support to Pueblo City Schools as part of their grant application en route to securing this funding from the NFL.
“We are very excited to be awarded the NFL/Broncos grant to replace the synthetic turf at Pueblo’s Earl ‘Dutch’ Clark Stadium,” Rick Macias, district activities/athletic director of Pueblo City Schools said. “During these tough economic times with the help of this grant, we will still be able to improve our stadium so that kids can have a safe surface to play on. The old turf was 10 years old and it was time for a replacement.”
Each year, LISC (Local Initiative Support Corporation) partners with the NFL to identify football field renovation and construction projects across the country in need of support. All City Stadium in Denver was a past grant recipient in the Denver community.
Pueblo City Schools will hold a ceremonial ribbon-cutting prior to the annual rivalry game on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at 7 p.m. “The Bell Game” is the oldest high school football rivalry west of the Mississippi, 112 years, between Pueblo Central and Pueblo Centennial. The ceremony will take place prior to the start of the game at 6:45 p.m.

Scalp man, I haven’t been this excited for a season in a long, long time. If everyone plays up to their potential, we’ll be a force to reckon with for sure. I like your BBBp……….and I would even up you one and say top 3! lol
Just can’t wait for training camp to start and get back into full-on football mode…………this off-season is killing me because of all the anticipation I have of the great season we’re gonna have.
I didnt want to get to greedy! I hear you though, last time I was this excited was Cutlers first year as starter. Its been so frustrating the last few years to go through what we all have had to witness that this season can not start soon enough!! But im out, nice chatting with ya brother. Enjoy your day!
Peace out Broncos Country!!!!!!!!!
Hey kod, scalp, hows things? I’m gonna be busy as all hell again today so I wont be able to post much just hi and if anyone else wants to post their ‘hated teams’ list in order I’m kinda interested to see them. If not well thats cool too just post something interesting we can argue about!
Hey LBF! good to see ya brother! Things are great…………it’s Friday!
Another day closer to training camp and the season opener…………at least that’s what I keep telling myself every morning I wake up! lol
Scalp, I agree, except Peyton will play all 19 games this season and win comeback player of the year and his fifth MVP! Lol! (-;
there ya go cat! lol that’s more like it! Heck, I’ll even take 20 if we have to host a wildcard game again!
Kod! Yes all 20 games!!!. Did I say he needs to win those games too? LOL I have seriously not been this excited since we beat the Patriots in 2005… just so you know, I’m good if this doesn’t happen too, but after seeing the look in Peyton’s eye, this is what he expects. think Irsay would congratulate him if he won the SB?
Although I’m not surprised, the DJ news is not good.. It’ll be interesting to see what the FO does with him, as they’re in a tough spot given the particulars, but if we feel like we have to keep him, he better agree to have his salary prorated for the number of games played this season at the very least.. I’m looking at it as a blessing in disguise. Someone is going to get some solid playing time, who otherwise wouldn’t have, and perhaps we can find a gem in-house, ala Chris Harris last year. I’m excited to see how Trevathan turns out, as well as Steve Johnson, and of course watching Nate Irving push Joe Mays in the middle. I’d really love to see us start to build from within a little more, and I think we are finally setting ourselves up for that type of scenario. For the first time in a while, I feel like we have solid group talent evaluators on both sides of the ball, and if we can start drafting better the sky is the limit. I REALLY hope JDR sticks around long enough to put the finishing touches on this defense via the draft..
Tap your cleats 3 times. LOL Cat!
For the record, I think our last two drafts were BIG steps in the right direction. I strongly feel that at the end of this season, we will consider last draft to be even better when a few more guys from that class step up.
So what is the deal with Praters contract? Geesh! Get it done already.
*last draft meaning 2011
OT, I agree. JDR called our defensive coordinator problems over the last seven years “unusual” do you think that means he plans to stick around?
Strand, I still can’t believe it! I have to keep sayin that because I probably won’t believe it til August 9th.
I don’t know about Prater, but it’s driving me nuts!
So Manning is in OZ now. LOL
Cat, when is your trip?
No, I think I’m in OZ! LOL
I leave tomorrow so I don’t know how much I’ll be around so if they sign Prater will you cheer for me???
We all will. Have a great time!
I’m looking forward to it, except it’s supposed to rain everyday ;-( That puts a damper on going to Disney World in the evenings.
Now thats a bummer. I`ve never been to Florida, so I haven`t seen Disney World as of yet. I lived 20 minutes from Disneyland when I lived in southern Calif. Good times!
Del Rio’s son is going to OSU, which makes Denver an easy commute, so that helps IMO. This defense also has to potential to become elite. Of course there is work to be done, but a lot of the pieces are already in place. From a career standpoint, if I were him, I’d stick around long enough to really build out an elite defense which he will get the lions share of the credit for. That will look great on his resume, and will give him many options in the future. I just hope we plan on paying him properly for this to happen, and I have to believe we will.
I have never been to Disneyland, I went to a San Diego game in 2004 in San Diego and got to go to the zoo.l. Now that was an amazing experience!!! That’s the only time I’ve been to Cali
I mean we know what went through John Fox’s head when we got Peyton, I wonder what JDR thought. If you’re a defensive coordinator, you got to like having Peyton as your QB.
Now S.D. is awesome! The beaches their are nice, lots of sunshine.
Good Morning Broncos Country!!
Also looking forward to the Olympics in London, sndvl.
Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinborough will be part of the opening ceremonies on July 27, 2012. They will also have a short James Bond movie/video with Daniel Craig. Also former Beatle, Sir Paul McCartney will perform as part of the closing ceromonies on August 12, 2012.
Did you know they produced around 4.700 metals for the games this year???
Great to hear your insight on the Pueblo community. Walsenburg’s not far from Pueblo, right. Of course it’s great to see the contributon for the new turf for Dutch Clark Stadium.
Happy Friday to all !!
My mother was born in Pueblo, Colorado. In 1977 When I was a kid, my family and I went to Pueblo, Colorado for Christmas. I lived in Orange County California at the time. It was that Christmas trip that I got a Orange Crush Defense T-shirt for Christmas from an uncle and cousin. They said your a Broncos fan. My reply. Whos the Broncos. LOL
Morning Royal. How ya doing bro?
Speaking of London, good luck to England on Sunday when they play Italy! I know we have some Broncos fans across the pond, and I’m sure they are pumped up about it. I’ll be watching no doubt, and I love when England plays for their own, rather than Great Britain like in the Olympics.
My Mom’s twin brother lived in Pueblo all his life.
Good morning strand… Happy Friday !!
OT – I also read Nate Irving might compete for OLB position. Don’t know if he has the speed to cover the flats, though.
I didn’t see that rbf1, but I’m on board with it. I’m really looking forward to see the competition at both LB and DT in camp this year!
I think we’re gonna find ourselves a diamond in the rough with this LB situation and DJ will be disposable………although I’d argue that he already is at this point.
Kod, I have a feeling that its Trevathan. I think he`s going to do special things for us at LB. They say he`s a tackling machine. Thats what we need, tackling machines, we need more than just one.
I think DJ should be cut and shown the door. Six game suspension and who knows what for his DUI . I say he’s out and take Knowshow with him.
New blog!
Wolfe, DJ is owed too much money for us to cut him, IMO
