Be a Champion in the Community Week

June 10th, 2012 - 8:19am by Cindy Kellogg

June 9th marked the end of the first of what is anticipated to be an annual Be a Champion in the Community Week — a full week of roster-wide community service, while asking the community to get engaged as well.

Saturday’s service projects included four Habitat for Humanity home builds, led by the likes of two-time Walter Payton Man of the Year Wesley Woodyard, and featuring new home owners Frank and Shiane Wilson, who are Habitat ambassadors in the Broncos’ new “Be A Champion in the Community” campaign.

Players also made visits to partner HealthONE Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children and to both locations of the Ronald McDonald House, spreading cheer and goodwill to patients and families.

Two-time Walter Payton Man of the Year Champ Bailey remained committed to the Denver Rescue Mission, serving meals alongside other Broncos players to residents of The Crossing and Lawrence Street Shelter.

Broncos players could be seen elsewhere in town bagging groceries at partner King Soopers and serving up orders at the McDonald’s drive-thru. Von Miller even gave fans special commemorative Broncos glasses to fans at Arby’s.

In addition, Ryan Clady was serving up some mean frostys at Wendy’s and that Demaryius Thomas was great with the crowds at Red Robin.

Before the day came to an end, Broncos Bunch members were treated to a Chris Kuper-led summer kickoff at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Also, youth football players honed their skills with Assistant Director of Pro Personnel Champ Kelly at his annual camp at All City Stadium in Denver.

Last but not least, Chipotle guests got a special treat with their burritos Saturday — warm hospitality served up by the Denver Broncos.

Looking forward to seeing you all next year, but in the mean time, we challenge Broncos Country, “What can you do to be a champion in our community?”

Legwold is taking the DJ thing pretty much all the way. Hmmm!

I would love to here a Bay eval of this Legwold article.

another thing you can do is when you water, if you have the time and desire, is go out and put that ‘jumper’ as we call it in you meter box, water for the night and in the morning go stick the meter back in. i knew a plumber that found out when they read his meter and put a jumper in for 2 of the 4 weeks of the month. but they started with these electronic meters and i dont know if they can tell if theyve been messed with or not. the city puts them in now we dont. so i dont know alot about them.

  4. DaddyBronc says:

I’m not interested in stealing water – I was just joking about that – but I would be interested in hooking back up my well. I never got to see the pump and how it was mounted but I think I can figure this out. I think the pump was supposed to be left but I would purchase a new one if I have to.

If the pump shaft was plugged or destroyed – how difficult is it pipe to 75′ or 100′. They just drive the pipe that deep don’t they?

Man 85 is with the Fish lol Hard Knock just got interesting lol

Ill put money thats part of why he wanted to go there! the TV Exposure.

  6. louisianabroncofan says:

well off to watch the tube, i’ll check back in db if you wanna discuss further!

  7. DaddyBronc says:

Looking at NFL.com – the Bruschi / Tebow story has been read more than 2 to one more than any other article.

It’s not dieing out and going away. I think it may just be getting started.

  8. louisianabroncofan says:

a sprinkler doesnt have to go near as deep as a water well but it is hard to do. you have to have the equipment to do it. around here they sit at about 150′ or so for a well. shallower isnt the end of the world but its not much more to go a little deeper and get better and more water. but you gotta check your well cap. see if its still got the cover with the bolts on it and a female thread thats plugged off or something. thats a sign its all still ready to go. but if the 4″ pvc pipe that came out of the ground is cut below grade with concrete coming out of it then you have to drill another well. and you gotta get i think 10′ away from the capped one. but they use special filters and all when they do it and you have to have all of it for it to work so a company with the right equipment needs to do it. i’ve been thinking of purchasing a well drilling rig, its pretty good money running one and they stay backed up around here.

  9. louisianabroncofan says:

wow ochocinco is with the fins? thats crazy. they needed a wr tho and as long as they dont ask him to think he should be ok!

  10. louisianabroncofan says:

of course db. timmy is polarizing as it gets. and worth discussing. big topic and fills the boring off season. whats better than that?

  11. louisianabroncofan says:

    150′ for a sprinkler well**

  12. DaddyBronc says:

It looks like the busted everything off and stuffed it full of dirt. The pipe looks like about 6″ ID

  13. louisianabroncofan says:

and its a pump and a motor down in there. its 2 parts and they bolt together. the pump can be fine and the motor go out and some people dont know that and go to get a whole new assembly for $700 when they coulda just bought a motor for $400. or vice versa. but none of the hook ups are hard, just the shaft drilling and filter and screen installation at the bottom of the well shaft.

  14. louisianabroncofan says:

hm. sounds like they creted it in. that sux. you need a new well. that can be as much as $10K.

  15. louisianabroncofan says:

if you have a probing rod shove it in there see if you hit something hard or it gets easy like it goes through the dirt and then breaks into a shaft. its very likely if they went through the trouble to disassemble the well head then they finished the job and concreted it in.

  16. DaddyBronc says:

The Tebow comments were in relation to that very article where Bruschi is calling for Tebow to avoid the media. The interest in what Bruschi has to say to Tebow is proof positive that TT can’t avoid the media. People want to hear what is going on with little Timmy. Tim’s only choices are to become more cloistered than a monk, including private security and being rude to the media. Or to go about his life and be nice and polite and build relationships with the media, and give the world what it wants.

  17. louisianabroncofan says:

well looks like you better rethink stealing that water! i’m really off this time before my wife throws my ipad out over the fence. be back later i hope!

  18. louisianabroncofan says:

nah, i totally disagree with bruschi. tims playing with the hand he’s been dealt. i’d hate to be in his shoes. he cant win with some nor lose with others. just gotta go with the flow and hope for the best.

  19. DaddyBronc says:

Is there anyway to rent equipment and do it myself? I’m betting that the permits and city costs will be half again as much as the equipment and labor. I do have a general contractor class B license, and I have done quite a bit of septic work. But wells are rare in S. CA. I’ve never done anything except repair pipes or replace pumps.

  20. DaddyBronc says:

Tell Mrs. Lou you are working. ;)

  21. louisianabroncofan says:

haha. she knows better! i’m risking my hide tellin you this but no you cant rent equipment to do it. what i do is tell them to drill the hole and set the shaft and filters and screens- thats it. then they tell me how deep my pump needs to sit in the shaft and leave. i then go get the pump, the well head, the pipe and wire and run it all myself. its not hard at all you can def do it. just make sure to write down the depth they tell you to set that pump. thats something you dont want to forget. if you want more i can tell you but you gotta get that well shaft part done by a well company.

  22. DaddyBronc says:

Thanks Lou – I just found a company that rents the equipment with an operator. Does that sound right? I’d still be afraid I get the wrong materials and end up costing myself more having to pay his time. I think you are right. I’ll get the hole and shaft done by someone who know what they are doing.

  23. DaddyBronc says:

Cat – I sure wish you would show up here. I would feel better knowing you have accepted my apology.

  24. louisianabroncofan says:

yes that should work. heck you may can talk him into writing down all of what you need to do after he leaves. if he knows what to do other than drill. but you should be able to google most of what you need.

    Broncos Country:
Ok let’s make some news cuz we have talent here!! We are set with a writer in OC who’s got the lyrics down. KillerKod talent who put it down and got the tune done! THE NECK is what’s the song name should be IMO. We got security in Buzzing!! All we need now is a BRONCOS producer/agent. I am all in for FTR productions LLC. We can call the label LMSDB! Produced by THE KILLER KOD’s NECKS. Need a flip side OC so get to work Bro! LOL my Bronco Bros!! This has been the best thing this off season I have read and better than any contest launched so far. This Bronco collaboration on this blog makes me proud!!
    FTR

  26. FTR says:

OC just a suggestion from FTR productions here is some material for your flip side to the THE NECK!
    1. First of all let me start off by saying “I hate the Raiders” Now, I know it is not good to hate anything, let alone something as trivial as a sports team. But there is good reason for my feelings.
The Raiders and their fans represent all that is bad in the world. They are cheap, disgusting, dirty, no good worshipers of darkness. They are the dirt bags of society. They offer nothing to human kind other than to try to destroy all that is good in the world.
I know some of you must be saying….this seems a lil extreme. They are just people doing a job or just fans cheering for their team.
Ha ha ha, you have the wool pulled over your eyes my friend! This team and everything associated with them is the epitome of evil.
The Broncos on the other hand represent hope. Our colors represent the sunrise, a new beginning, hope, and beauty. This team is the epitome of goodness.
So this year, we will once again witness the battle between good and evil. When the Raiders come into Mile High, the Broncos and their fans will have to stare into the eyes of the beast, and not blink. A lot of weight will be on the crowds shoulders. If you are going to be at Mile High, you have a responsibility to yell and stomp the darkness back to the black hole which it came from. The world is counting on you!!
    ILMSDB!!!!
    Just me.

I gotta call it a day and go get dinner. Tickle some kiddos.

  30. DaddyBronc says:

Totally agree with the Raider assessment

  31. camharland says:

FTR- Sounds like something that 07Elway said a few years back! I think DD and Bay were on back then!
    ROBO!

  32. camharland says:

The Emperor is gone ,but his sprit lives on, Dennis Allen is his new apprentice. Our ‘Chosen One’ has been traded to the Jets; however a stronger Jedi will lead the rebellion to victory!

  33. FTR says:

Long live the Bronco force Cam. The stonger man be Manning, Repect and tradition is the Blue and Orange!
    FTR

  34. FTR says:

I grow tired and fear those who post here do not Bleed and Orange! It’s now become a battle for things not football!
I do not wish to leave!! But I have few allies and more foes. No fun in that!
    Just saying!
    Peace Out
    FTR

  35. camharland says:

Sorry, just had to throw that in there. Sounded like a good analogy.
On another note- Have you ever checked out 104.3 (The Fan) out of Denver?
    Kick in the pants!

  36. camharland says:

    PFR!
    Peyton Freaking Manning! Yessirr!!!!

  37. camharland says:

    Rock on Bronc on! PFM!!!!!!

  38. camharland says:

Now I’m the blog killer! Have a couple of tid-bits to share. I’ll find time to log on tomorrow and chit chat.
BTW- KK and OC……. Loved it! If we have a good start this season it will go viral for sure!

  39. DaddyBronc says:

Not to worry FTR – we think all things football – when things football start happenin’!!!

  40. camharland says:

Just needs some supporting game tape to comp.
    Go Broncos!

  41. Bronco_Turtle says:

The name of that song should be ‘Hook’n'Ladder’… the Neck to the Deck to the DMT, cause that is what would be occuring on that particular play… I had that song stuck in my head all damn day!!! Pound a post sing a verse, way to go OC/KK!

Can I ask a Sincere Question? would anyone here call PM ‘the Neck’ to his face…? he may not appreciate it but that is just another mindless thing I thought about while fencing…

  42. camharland says:

Pound that post! Pound that post! Pound that post!
    PFM!

  43. tlcat06 says:

DB- I must say you must’ve not read my post because I said I was going to a baseball game! That’s why I haven’t been around. But I wholeheartedly accept your apology.

Strand and LBF, thanks for having my back!

LBF-I disagree. I think Tebow was dealt this hand, but it’s not such a bad deal to have and he, IMO, should be doing exactly what Bruschi says (we agree to disagree?) because the media will NEVER stop doing what they’re doing, but he can handle it differently.

Camharland- Dude… I love your Star Wars analogy. I corrected Adam Rank’s article the other day because he called Dennis Allen Bruce Allen and he told me exactly that, that Allen had gone over to the darkside, but that Anakin still knew how to fly ;-) It was funny and I appreciate your humor!!!

  44. alaskanbronco06 says:

Matt Prater is expected to attend the mandatory workouts this week. Even though technically he doesnt have to as he isnt under contract with the Broncos.

  45. tlcat06 says:

    Yes! Thanks AB!

  46. alaskanbronco06 says:

Never mind. A mistake was made, He is not expected to attend. He will face no fines from Denver for not participating as he isnt under contract.

Honestly not surprising. Since he is in contract negotiations he wont risk an injury that will lower the money in his deal and length.

  47. Bronco_Turtle says:

    OC… Forgive me if I butchered it…

Dum diddy-dum here we come with verse two for you:

When the Neck hits the Deck it’s all TD’s

Peyton is the Man n’ he does it with ease, so Please… sit back, relax

And watch as we stack up n’ Rack up those points, points…

If you’re down to clown when we come to your town, the sound is profound

And deafening: Can you hear the cheers when the bomb goes boom-

Optimus has entered the room then back that up with some Von Doom and Gloom to

Victory, it’s victory- might even see a little trickery from the B to the R to the O N C

O Yes success is in the cards… You know our boys play every down hard- to rule

Our division with the precision of a laser guided Peyton Manning Missile, check the profile

He’s here, show fear- let me make it very clear that our goal is the same for every game

It’s victory, O it’s victory… Prater see ya later from fifty is nifty now the D’s getting shifty as

    J. D. R. takes us very far, he’s a vet you bet you’re gonna regret that you let us take a lead

In deed we are bound to succeed O we’re golden, yes golden… the AFC West is Fold’n fast as we

Kick some ass… It’s Victory I said it’s victory in the Black Hole first, then it gets worse-

for those that oppose the B to the R to the O-N-C, O Yes it’s time to confess- that it’s

our time- as we bust this line It’s Victory…It’s Victory

  48. killerkod says:

    Good Morning Broncos Country!

So stoked that everyone is digging the song………….It’s one of those things that just gets stuck in the head………glad to hear it’s helping pass your day fencing turtle! and are you challenging me with another set of lyrics? LMAO Nice job laying it down…….I like it!

Not sure how PM would feel being called The Neck………but if he knew that is really is a term of endearment from us uber dedicated fans on the blog, I think he’d be okay with it. lol

lol @ FTR Productions…………..Death Row Records LOOK OUT! LMAO!

Really hoping to hear a deal with Prater today………..or at least seeing him at camp.
