Hi Broncos Country!

We are reporting to you from military bases in the Middle East. The Denver Broncos Cheerleaders — Allyson, Heather, Jessica, Kim and Lindy, along with Kelly (Director of JDBC and DBC alum) — are performing and boosting the morale of our troops in Kuwait and Iraq. We would like to share with Broncos country the last couple of days on our amazing journey.

Day 1
We arrived in Kuwait and had lots of emotions. We feel so blessed to have this opportunity and to be able to somewhat have a glimpse of what it’s like to be in the military. When we landed, the sky was filled with sand; we landed just in time to see the end of a sandstorm. It was over 120 degrees and we were told we were in the hottest place on the planet. Every time we want to complain about the heat we all catch ourselves in the act, as we are only here for a week and our military men and women endure this heat for months and in full combat gear.

Day 2
We are spending the first two nights at Camp Arifjan, we went to Arifjan Headquarters where we were briefed with the whole history of Kuwait and the our military presence here. We saw the map of Kuwait with all the military bases that are located in Kuwait. We were each presented with a commander’s coin. These coins are presented to soldiers as a symbol of appreciation and hard work. We have learned that Kuwait is a very safe country.

Then we were off to another base in Kuwait, KNB — Kuwait Naval Base — for our first show! The Kuwait Naval Base is a Kuwaiti military base; the US portion is called Camp Patriot. We took a tour of an army vessel where 17 personnel live for 4 months at a time and the food and energy supply lasts 14 days. We had some Pittsburgh Steelers fans onboard, and we may have converted them to Denver Broncos fans. The main purpose at Camp Patriot is to wash and clean all the military vehicles to be shipped back to the United States. It takes 23 hours to clean the largest tank!

We were highly anticipating our first show! The stage was outside, next to the volleyball court (Top Gun style) with a large Denver Broncos Cheerleaders banner at the back of the stage. We were so pumped to perform for our troops. We did a meet and greet before the show, said a prayer and performed our hearts out. Some highlights of the show, included the participation of Col. Rusher (AKA “Little Lenny”), not only did he give the cheerleaders some military orders but he also busted out a great air guitar performance – zebra pants and all.

Day 3
Well, day 2 and day 3 go right into each other. Day 2 ended at midnight and day 3 started at 3:15 a.m. We took a two-hour bus ride to Ali Al Salem where the airport is located. For military flights, they require you to be there EARLY — and I mean EARLY. We were fitted for our armored jackets and helmets before the flight. We took a C-130 plane to Camp Balad, all was well until we started to land. The pilots did a combat landing which they called “a hurricane bumper” which unfortunately caused one of our cheerleaders to get a little sick. The pilots let the cheerleaders sit in the cockpit and even fly the plane – what an experience! We arrived at Camp Balad, which houses approximately 17,000 troops. They are starting the process of clearing out and closing this base down, they plan to have only 4,000 troops at this base by November.

After eating lunch with the troops, we took a tour of the F-16′s and armory. After dinner, it was time for show number two; unfortunately Jessica was still under the weather so we needed to re-set the show minus one cheerleader. The show must go on! The Army General and Air Force General at Camp Balad presented the team with commander’s coins before the show. We were so honored that they went out of their way to greet us. We are the last entertainment group to perform at Camp Balad in Iraq — and we went out with a bang! After the show, LTC Hamburg presented the cheerleaders with an American Flag, which was flown onboard a United States Army Blackhawk helicopter during a combat mission just prior to our arrival. We anticipate bringing the American Flag home to share with Broncos Country!

Day 4
We arrived at the military airport to depart Camp Balad, we were greeted by over 200 soldiers that were awaiting their departure home! There were lots of smiles, laughter and joy as these soldiers were so excited to go home to see their families. We sat and listened to stories and couldn’t help but share in their excitement, as we provided them with Broncos hats and memorabilia for their flight home. We took a private C-130 flight from Camp Balad to COB Speicher. We were so pumped to arrive at Speicher because this is where many of our Fort Carson soldiers are stationed. SGM Leeling, from Colorado, presented us with the Ivy Division 4th Infantry coin, as well as their own personalized football jerseys. We even incorporated their jerseys into our show as one of our costumes!

We were told by a soldier after our show that this is the longest he has smiled on his deployment — it was the most heartwarming comment. Every show, we make a point to tell our troops how important the military is to Broncos Country and the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders. We cheer on the Broncos at every home game for our 76,000 fans and every single day we cheer on our troops. During this tour, we are their cheerleaders!

Sincerely from Iraq,
Allyson, Heather, Jessica, Kim, Lindy and Kelly

500 lbs! Can you plug up the middle for us weatherman?

  2. baylinorcrush says:

If William Perry was the “refrigerator”, you could be our “walk-in cooler”, haha/jk.

  3. royalbroncofan1 says:

bay – Based on what X man said a while back, the triumvirate has their plan of action ready to go. I was actually trying to help Legwold !! lol

  4. baylinorcrush says:

I know, I ‘m just worried about having to rely on plan C to address our #1 need is all the point I was trying to make.

  5. baylinorcrush says:

And honestly to this point the X-man is the one in the Triumvirate I really don’t know anything about, and the little I know hasn’t been very good to say the least. I know, I know, he had his hands tied by McD….. But long way to go until I can get a feel for that guy, much less take him at his word now, just saying.

  6. seweatherman1 says:

If I was able to get out there and do it I would Bay. Maybe 35 years ago! At least I would hope I could do as good or better job than what has been being done.

  7. baylinorcrush says:

I hear you, my physical prowess days are also far behind me, it’s up to the youngsters to get the job done and let’s hope they can.

  8. royalbroncofan1 says:

I hear you bay… you’re right. We’re down to option #C. I hope we have the opportunity to sign one of these players if and when lockout is resolved.

  9. seweatherman1 says:

You said it! Maybe the draft helped us. I just pray the hype some of the players have gotten in this years crop comes true. If it does, life might be good, unless the fields get turned into soccer stadiums. What I have been listening to hasn’t been good, for sure.

  10. royalbroncofan1 says:

Marcus Thomas I think would also do better in the 4-3 system, that’s if he’s brought back.

  21. baylinorcrush says:

LOS ANGELES—The head of the sports and entertainment firm that wants to build an NFL stadium in downtown Los Angeles has been in talks with officials from five teams about the proposed venue, a company official said Friday.
Anschutz Entertainment Group President and CEO Tim Leiweke has spoken with representatives from the Minnesota Vikings , San Diego Chargers , Oakland Raiders , St. Louis Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars , company spokesman Michael Roth told The Associated Press.

At least it looks as if we are in no danger of moving to LA, but half of our division apparently is!!!

  22. baylinorcrush says:

The LA Raiders, been there done that, but the LA Chargers would take some getting used to!

    LA Rams old stuff too….

  23. henryac says:

Bay, NFL Network says they talked to a couple of other teams also. The Rams and the Jags have lease problems, the Vikings are getting a new stadium, so it might be down to the Raiders or the Chargers. I wondered when I heard that if maybe one of the other teams they talked to wasn’t the Panthers. I could see them moving if somebody threw enough money at them. Maybe the Chiefs? This might be more fun to watch than the CBA thing!!!

  24. Orange_Crusher says:

The San Diego Chargers spent its first season in Los Angeles, California before moving to San Diego in 1961.

I think the Cargers should go back home to LA.

  25. baylinorcrush says:

Good info OC, didn’t know that.

  26. RLNTLS says:

You ladies should swing by Afghanistan. We would like to have a show of support as well…

  27. broncosfreak30 says:

Hey guys long time no talk, have been all over the football sites looking for new news which isn’t going all that well!! Man I hope this CBA hurries up and gets settled. It is messing up a lot of workouts for all of the players and especially with FA!

  28. Mikeyb1203 says:

Man I have been feeling sick the past week so I went to the doctor on Wednesday and found out I had strep throat. And then yesterday I got a nasty fever and pain in my abdomen so I went to the doctor again this morning and found out that I mono and my spleen is swollen and almost exploded, man I am glad I went to the doctors but not near as glad as I am to be a Denver Bronco fan.

  29. broncosfreak30 says:

Dang man, hope you get better Mikey!!

  30. camharland says:

Mikey- I hope you get better! I had Mono when I was a kid and it sucked!

It’s not likely that the Jags would move to LA even though their fan base is one of the worse fanbases in the NFL. But, if they did move to LA, do you think that the AFC West would go back to a five team division? It would make more since to move the Chargers or Panthers. The Raiders should stay in Oakland.

  31. baylinorcrush says:

Glad you went to the doc mikey, could of been much worse without doing so sounds like, wishing you a good recovery.

  32. baylinorcrush says:

So basically the players have now missed all the OTAs, all the off season conditioning and the mini camp (held at this very time last year).

Meaning all that’s left of the off season preparation wise under the best of circumstances is training camp and the pre season games.

That pretty much sums it all up!

  33. BeastFromEast92 says:

    Yeah…I hear ya Bay,what a Bummer!!!

mikey, hope you get to feeling better buddy!

btw…cam no 5 team divisions,it’s 4 team divisions since they rearrange them, and added north and south divisions,8 divisions with 4 teams in each=32 teams.

  34. baylinorcrush says:

The only way they will have any 5 teams division again is if they add a couple of new franchises, like Toronto and London, England, I wouldn’t put it past Goodell, he just loves the international part of it, I say bull, better take care of your problems at home!

  35. baylinorcrush says:

Since the majority of you guys have abandoned the blog, I thought a little upbeat news (view) from the Sporting News this weekend was in order:

Reports of progress and optimism on the NFL labor front continue to emerge. The latest is from Daniel Kaplan of SportsBusiness Journal, a sister publication of Sporting News.

On Saturday morning, Kaplan tweeted, “Told optimism is so high in NFL, players talks over labor deal that expectation is for a framework agreement in about two weeks.”

Optimism continues to build that DeMaurice Smith’s players association and the league are working out their issues. (AP Photo)Many predictions on the resolution of the labor dispute have estimated an early to mid-July agreement, so Kaplan’s report puts a more optimistic spin on the timeline. After five days of talks the past two weeks—including two days this week in New York—the mood in negotiations has improved considerably.

Perhaps the most significant symbol of progress was a report in the New York Post that commissioner Roger Goodell and NFL Players Association executive director DeMaurice Smith appeared upbeat in a private dinner Wednesday night after the second day of negotiations in New York.

An NFL.com report Saturday said the league and players plan to resume talks next week and that both sides have also been communicating away from the bargaining table, an indication of the “seriousness of these talks.”

This tells me two things, first the players realize that in order to have a full season and not miss a paycheck they need to find an agreement in the off season, second the NFL doesn’t want to miss the revenues of even preseason games if they can help it. That would be fine and dandy with me, with an agreement before August we can still have a full training camp and all preseason games, that just sounds too good to be true at this point, but I gotta hope for the best while prepared for the worst.

As far as I’m concerned they have 7 more weeks to work things out without truly affecting this season anymore than it already has unless they are planning for OTAs, rookie camp and mini camp to still take place before training camp as soon as they sign a deal, but I seriously doubt it though, hard to justify going into training camp straight from all those other workouts, most players would end up dead by season end!

Either way this will be remembered as the season with record hammies and groins injuries, safe to say we can all count on that but it wouldn’t be much of a change for our team however, LOL. Going from standstill to full out overnight is a receipe for disaster. Oh well…

  36. brian_schneider says:

It will be interesting to see how having little to no offseason OTAs will affect the players. I agree with baylinorcrush, going from zero to hero overnight is going to yield some injuries for sure. I’d be willing to bet Moreno goes down again this season. I will say this though I think the older veterans probably do more to take care of their bodies so maybe they’ve got this whole thing figured out, who knows.

  37. baylinorcrush says:

Jake Delhomme’s days with Browns “are numbered”

Tony Grossi of the Cleveland Plain Dealer confirmed in a Friday online video that the 10-year veteran quarterback’s days with the Browns “are numbered.”

“I think he knows it, the team knows it,” added Grossi, who predicted that the Browns’ third-string quarterback would come from the “undrafted ranks” or “maybe a very low-profile veteran free agent.”

Colt McCoy is the Browns’ projected starter, and Seneca Wallace was re-signed in March to back him up.

Problem solved, pieces of the puzzle falling into place just like I have been hoping:

Delhomme becomes the inexpensive vet QB back up Fox badly wants, his old boy to boot.

Super expensive Orton is shipped to one of a handful teams badly in need of a QB like the Dolphins.

Making room for Tebow to be the Denver Broncos starter!

And please dump Quinn to allow for a roster spot.

    Is it Christmas yet? LOL.

  38. brian_schneider says:

I hope Orton does get traded and I wish him the best of luck. If he starts for us I think he’ll be hearing a lot of boo birds. Which probably won’t yeild good results on the field. I think that will create added tension between Orton and Tebow…as if there isn’t any already. I think for Orton’s well being and self preservation he should be traded because a lot of fans will not be happy to see him behind center this season.

  39. seweatherman1 says:

I for one will not be happy to see Orton in a Denver uniform. As for the negotiations. I think that this spin they are spreadiong is put there so that the fans will rush out and buy those season tickets to get the revenue flowing again to the owners. I wonder how they would feel if their advertisers tell them to take a hike since they are missing all of the revenue the NFL generates them this time every year? These guys just don’t understand, or care, how many lives and small, small town businesses they are affecting. Some of these people depend on thay money coming in from their training camps, etc. to help them through the year. There has been absolutely no thought to any of them or their survival.

  40. brian_schneider says:

I’m not sure if any of you watched the NBA finals but LeBron had an interesting post game interview. Basically explaining to all the haters that we’re not as good as he is. I finally think that professional sports are getting real close to self imploding.

  41. baylinorcrush says:

    LeBron the Moron.

  42. baylinorcrush says:

    Like Shefter said:

Congratulations to Cleveland on ending its drought.

    LMAO!!!

  43. brian_schneider says:

LeBron is the Cutler of basketball…oops did I say that out loud? LOL!

No but really why do people have to act like that. We’re not the ones that didn’t show up for the 4th qtr.

Anyway, I’m not much of an NBA fan…c’mon a 7 game series I could see 3 or maybe even 5 but 7. I like the one and done type of playoffs because it forces both teams to show up at that exact point in time. Oh we didn’t have our best game but we’ll have another chance…pfft! Show up and play one game to see who the better team is.

  44. baylinorcrush says:

About the not showing up in the 4th quarter, LeBron is the Orton of basketball, haha.

  45. BeastFromEast92 says:

    LMAO@Bay!!!!!!!!

  46. strandoftds says:

I 2nd that LMAO!! I`m so glad Miami didn`t win the championship, they crowned themselves champions before the season got under way, the arrogant flakes they are, that being (the Heat). I never saw anything like a team with so much arrogance and that we can`t be touched mantality. I never saw that kind of bs from Magic, Jordan, Bird or even Kobe Bryant. I don`t ever want to see Labron James, Dwane Wade or any other Heat player on this team win a national championship the way they conduct themselves before and during the season. I`ll always want them to lose.

  47. strandoftds says:

If they humble themselves and tone it down alot I`ll maybe change my mind, but until then Miami Heat, you stink to high heaven, you losers. Get a freaken life, all of your attitudes SUCK. LMFAO!!

  48. strandoftds says:

BFE, what up dude? Is it football time yet? LOL

  49. Yovi21 says:

Lebron is a piece of work! I think Miami will eventually get theres, while I hope they never do! Lebron can’t do it like Jordan did! What a joke it is that Pippin came out and said Lebron will be better than Jordan! I’ll give Lebron 2 rings by the time he retires!…and thats with 2 superstars next to him!

  50. BeastFromEast92 says:

    strand………uh no…….I don’t think it’s football time yet???

But it is Summertime, camping, cooking out, drinking cold beer, are a few things that can get your mind off football for a while tho!!!
